I don't like giving negative reviews so will keep it short. The service (although friendly) was poor. There does not seem to be a structure to the service. The food was not good although it was piping hot. Sorry.

Chicken tikka not as authentic as you would hope and the mint sauce appeared to be ‘off’ as it was fizzy. This information wasn’t taken kindly by English female manager when this was pointed out.

This was for a takeaway meal which cost me £45.00Onion Bhaji cold and stale.Tarka dall was on the menu with fried garlic on top. It didn't have any.Tandoori chicken chewy and tasteless covered in greasy onions.King prawn balti for over £9.00. No king prawns just tasteless brown slop. They also missed giving the inclusive nan bread.Sag Bahji a tiny tasteless portion mostly of onions.Mushroom massala again a tiny portion that frankly tasted of nothing.....thrown away.Chicken tikka dansak had some flavour but again a tiny portion with just six pieces of chicken.Rice X2 tasteless.I enquired on a Saturday night how many bookings they had....just two........no surprise there.Do not ever visit this place. Total rip off for tiny portions of bland slop. They do not deserve to continue in business.

I would not recommend anyone to come to this Indian, we have been a couple of times you know the benefit of the doubt and all that. But all of the times we have visited we have been totally let down by the food and the service. Waiting 40 mins for starters when there is only 4 people in the restaurant 2 include myself and my partner. We sat down to eat to be told there is no wine! No wine in an Indian restaurant?! When we received our food eventually it was cold had no flavour. When we explained this to the staff they did not seem to care and the women who thinks she runs the place well where did you find her? Her manners are awful and the way she presents herself Jay should be ashamed of having her as an employee. We shall never return and make sure all of our friends and family do not go there.

As a special treat for his birthday, my son chose to have a takeaway from this place. We have history with this - Spice Cottage/A Taste of Raj/Darjeeling as we used to live in the village and were frequent customers until it went dramatically downhill. As it has changed its name again we thought that perhaps it has gone back to the quality food it used to serve. Alas not. Looked good on first encountering said tikka massala but oh dear, the sauce was like someone had washed up a hundred cups of earl grey in perfumed tomato sauce then insulted a chicken with it. Not nice at all. Please don't tell me that I am ignorant and don't know what it should taste like - have had enough tikka massala's to know that this is not it. You get a poor rather then terrible just for the peshwari naan which was delicious. Therefore expensive waste of money - back to the good and inexpensive chinese across the road then. Just proves that some places don't change for the better.

Went for birthday with my friend - we had Tuesday night special. Overall food good but not a patch on other local Indian restaurants - suppose you get what you pay for. Marked average becuse it was like sitting in a fridge - there was a little heater in there which had no impact at all. We both sat shivering and even commented to to waiter who just smiled.

I am basically too idle to go and fetch my own take-away and sometimes I cannot even be bothered to ring up and order! Darjeeling restaurant have a great web page on which I can order exactly what I want really easily, adding things into my basket and then placing the whole order at the end. I don't have to do anything else except pay the man on the door when he turns up a little while later. I could pay with a card but this requires a ring back and the giving up of card details which I'm not keen on but cash on collection is fine. The meal is always very decent and I order enough to last me for 2 days! Free delivery is the key for me, although I do tip the drivers.

There was a group of us and to be honest they couldn’t really cope with it the service was very poor and a long waiting time for food and as it didn’t come out altogether so if the food was cold . The restaurant itself was cold also with a draft a good price for the food but could of been a lot better

We went on a recommendation from a family member, the service was good and the food was freshly cooked and very nice. The mango chicken is a great choice. The prices are good we did the £10.95 special and there was too much food. The only slight negative is the restaurant is cold.

Took our two small grandchildren and their parents to what we understand is a recently re-opened restaurant. What a good choice, service was attentive and food was delicious. Our grandchildren (3+ & 5+) shared a chicken korma with rice - nothing left for Grandad who had a speciality lamb dish which was excellent. As a family we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal and being close to our daughters home in Cob Gate, we know they will be using from now on as their preferred takeaway provider! Well done to all at the Darjeeling.

Despite often fancying a curry take away I can never be bothered to go out and fetch it. Well at last I have a decent indian restaurant who do just that. Ordered my first meal from this restaurant on Saturday 23rd and I was not disappointed. It must have only taken half an hour from ordering and it was delivered by a lovely young man smartly dressed in a black waistcoat. My meal came with a complementary bottle of beer together with 2 poppadoms and a dip. My chicken korma, bombay aloo and special fried rice with a plain naan was scrumptious and I will definitely be ordering again.

Just had a meal at the Darjeeling, 4 of us, poppadoms and a main meal each. Absolutely delicious from start to finish. Service was superb, very attentive but not intrusive. Poppadoms fresh as was the pickle tray. Main meals were flavoursome and portion size perfect. Naan breads a good size and fresh. The evening was rounded off with complimentary coffees. 10/10 and we will return!
