Daphne's in Kensington and Chelsea

We had a great evening at Daphne’s. Good busy vibes with excellent service. Shared everything and worked out perfectly. My girlfriend was pregnant and they spontaneously suggested some non-alcohol drinks.

The establishment offered numerous seating options at the rear, yet we were seated adjacent to the steps. My reservation was for 17:00, and I had indicated the cold weather conditions. However, it appeared that they were indifferent and unwilling to relocate us. Although I have frequented this establishment in the past, this experience was particularly disappointing. I would rate this establishment 5 out of 10.

Nice me busy place. But great spot for a cozy dinner and very good and attentive service as well. Would recommend a table in the terrace area if possible as it is a bit noisy in the main dining area. But other than that, can’t complain. Good food, atmosphere and service. Pricey but good.

The crab pasta was lacking in crab. The spaghetti was overcooked and as a whole rather greasy like a badly prepared dish of Chinese noodles

Daphne's is located in a pedestrianised area of Draycott Avenue. It's an inviting, large restaurant, charmingly decorated and well maintained. Thank goodness the kitchen is out of sight. The Italian menu is extensive and there is a variety of items from which to make a choice. I was here with 3 friends. We all selected something different. My first course comprised tiger prawns that were cooked in a delicious sauce. For the main I chose meatballs, primarily because I don't know how to make meatballs at home. Well, the Chef excelled himself - really yummy. One of my friends chose the wine. 2 friends wanted white wine whilst the third friend and I opted for red. The wines chosen were from the south of Italy and were mellow. We ended with dessert that piled on the calories. Waiter Service by Danny (from Brazil) was outstanding. All staff were pleasant despite it being a very busy Saturday night. There was no pressure to leave after a certain time. A very enjoyable evening. Daphne's has been a Chelsea stalwart for many years.

I found the crab pasta to contain very little crab. The pasta was overcooked and the sauce was greasy. The dish tasted more like Chinese noodles. Very disappointed for the price of the dish.

My friends and I dined at Daphne’s for a birthday celebration and, overall, we had a pleasant experience. The restaurant’s atmosphere is absolutely stunning, with great attention to detail in the décor. There was a beautiful dining area at the back that we wished we had been seated in, but it wasn’t a major issue. We started with a few shared entrées, which were exceptional and great value for money—the scallops were definitely a highlight. For our mains, we each opted for a small plate of pasta, but unfortunately, the flavors were a bit disappointing. The crab and chili linguine wasn’t served with traditional linguine but rather a thinner, angel-hair-like pasta, which felt underwhelming. The dish itself was also quite dry and lacking in flavor. We also ordered a few bottles of rosé, which weren’t particularly impressive, but despite these minor letdowns, we still enjoyed our time. I do think the menu could be clearer, especially in describing the type of pasta used in each dish, as it was a bit misleading.

Place with a good atmosphere, as soon as you enter the lights of the lamps on the counter where excellent cocktails are served, the excellent porn star Martini meters wait to sit at the table for dinner. The staff is Italian, so you feel at home, the bread basket is excellent with Sardinian bread, focaccia served with tasting oil. I tasted the liver with onion and also, a delight, the risotto with mushrooms and agretti and aubergine parmigiana.

Amazing at all levels. They took our coats, the service was tip notch, and so was the atmosphere and the food. Highly recommended. Expensive but you get your money's worth as you feel very much pampered! I will be back! Thank you for a lovely evening!

It's a little noisy in the front dining room. They are very bust most night so get a rez. Food is great if you are looking for Italian and service is usually professional. Good wine list, great drinks - a very comfortable place.

My friend and I dined at Daphne’s on the 4th of February, where we were utterly enchanted by the atmosphere. The food was exquisite and the setting was the perfect definition of refined elegance. It felt like we were in a garden as every detail was meticulously curated. All the waiters were very professional and did their jobs perfectly. Special mention to the melanzane alla parmigiana starter which was delicious.

I recently called Daphne's to make a reservation for a specific seating area I had seen on Instagram. While I understand that restaurants may not always guarantee seating preferences, the experience over the phone was frustrating. When I requested a confirmed booking for that area, I was repeatedly told that they could not guarantee it—only that they would "try their best." I even asked if I could adjust my booking date or time to secure that area, but was still met with the same response. I then inquired about how many bookings they had for that date and how many had requested the same area. I was told all 20 bookings had made the same request, but when I asked about their seating capacity, instead of a clear answer, I was simply asked, "Do you want to book or not?" I was not asking whether I would be denied entry or refused a table, but rather if it was possible to secure a specific area with some level of assurance. Since I would be traveling over an hour to dine here, it felt frustrating that there was no flexibility in confirming seating arrangements, even when willing to adjust the booking. While I appreciate that they are upfront about not guaranteeing seating requests, a more transparent and accommodating approach to customer inquiries would make the experience much better. If you’re traveling for a specific ambiance, be aware that seating preferences are purely requests, with no confirmation, regardless of when you book.

First of all i’m never one to write reviews ever however, My boyfriend and I went to Daphne’s for Valentine’s Day, having booked weeks in advance and specifically requested a nice table for the occasion. While we understand Valentine’s is a busy night, it was disappointing to see plenty of available tables for two while we were placed in what was clearly the worst seat in the restaurant. The hostess scrambled to find a spot for us, that was not even set up making it obvious that we were an afterthought compared to other guests. We were seated at the very end of the bar, right next to where food orders were taken and large trays were constantly coming in and out from the kitchen. The table was cramped, not set up, and it felt as though we had just walked in without a booking. The noise from the kitchen and bar staff made it impossible to have a proper conversation, and we kept having to move to make way for food to come by. When we politely requested a different seat, we were moved to another poor table—slightly better, but still tucked away near a busy walkway where we couldn’t even move our seats, despite multiple nicer tables being available. To make matters worse, other guests from the main section made patronizing comments about our setup, further highlighting the lack of care in seating us. Service was also subpar. At one point, a waitress walked away mid-conversation, simply saying “one minute,” leaving us both shocked. Our plates were taken while we were still eating, and overall, the experience felt rushed and inattentive. The food itself was good, but certainly not worth the price given the poor service and poor treatment. We left feeling as though there was some kind of bias in how guests were seated perhaps based on age, status or perceived importance. Having since looked at other negative reviews, I’ve noticed a pattern, stating to give them another chance, quite frankly, they don’t deserve one. Instead of addressing the real issues with seating and service, they seem content to brush complaints aside. As visitors from Dublin, we had heard good things about Daphne’s, but unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. We would not return.

Rounding up a 3.5 out of 5. Lovely location. Decor, ambience, people watching and attentiveness all excellent. Food average and small portions and, as such, exorbitant. A polite disagreement about the fish of the day description rejected. Deserts I fear undifferentiated. An hour later back home in NW London I found myself snacking.

Good Place…. This was our second visit. The food was good especially the starters (King Prawns, Scallops). Portion a little small for the secondi (sea bass) and probably would have loved some more food on that plate. The apple tart was delicious. The wine choices are also good. The service was good, pleasant staff and very welcoming. We had a table in the conservatory next to the fire place and was very hot. The table was very small and close to the next one. Had to move and adjust every time for the service. Generally the place was very crowded but I believe it attracts people due to its good food.

Excellent food, lovely ambience and friendly service, highly recommended the beetroot salad, crab linguine, lemon chargrilled sole and pumpkin risotto, also the pistachio cheesecake was brilliant. It's a pricey meal though but does not disappoint

Poor service, and I have to note how miserable and confused the staff looked. Food was just slightly above average. Dry atmosphere despite it being quite full. To put it simply, definitely not worth the money.

I came here for my birthday dinner which I was super excited about and I’ll honestly say I was quite disappointed, there were a couple of things wrong with our order and the staff seemed a bit untrained which usually I wouldn’t be so harsh but for the type of establishment you expect a bit better. We were also seated at a table that wasn’t the nicest and considering I had booked / reserved this a long time in advance for my birthday we were disappointed to say the least. The waiters seemed to only care about the “regulars” or other tables but then when we didn’t need they lingered around our table, just felt slightly uncomfortable and awkward. Not to say it was all bad the food was ok but personally for the price there are much better places in London.

I loved the ambience at Daphne. It was a fun dining environment. Our servers were attentive and we had a lovely evening. Some of the food choices were better than others. The risotto special was a bit of a miss. The desserts were very good as well.

This restaurant really lived up to my expectations and even surpassed them! The service stood out—I was looked after with such care and attention that it made the entire experience delightful. The food was good, fresh, and satisfying. We ordered ravioli, spaghetti with prawns and curry, burrata salad, and tiramisu. Tiramisu is my favorite 🌟🫠! I liked all the dishes, though the burrata wasn’t quite to my taste—they prepared it in a slightly different way. I guess, there were baked tomatoes and greens, which might be the reason. As for the atmosphere, it was simply wonderful, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. Small as expected from the picture and super cosy! 💘🌟

As long term regulars we were dispaointed to see that like many London locations access to the restaurant is now by a recenlty pedestrianized road where taxis and other vehicles cannot drop off outside. For us with two elderley/semi mobile members of the group this was difficult so sadly Daphne's is now off our regular destination list. We appreciate it is not the restaurant's fault but simply warn others to check (thoroughly) when booking if they have guests who have mobility issues.

Had lunch at Daphne's today. It was my first visit to this Italian restaurant. The service was very attentive. Loved that the tables had tablecloths. The Xmas decor was still up and made it a very festive lunch. The pasta choices were plentiful. I chose the spaghetti alla vongole. I ordered the small portion for £18 as did my daughter. Alas when I later checked our bill it showed we had been overcharged and overpaid, as Daphne's charged us for 2 large spaghetti alla vongole for £29.50 each! A great place for a special family luncheon but you must check your bill before paying your £200 bill. Alas my husband did not catch this mistake before he handed over his credit card.

Went in the beginning of January to mainly see the christmas decorations that were still up. Pastas were good, not that impressed with the cacio e pepe as that was too cheesy and thick. Ended the meal with a tiramisu which was nice

We made it before the Christmas decorations came down for a lovely Sunday lunch. Pasta can be purchased in two sizes so perfect if you don't eat much. The aubergine starter was a highlight as was the apple tart dessert. The bathrooms were impeccably clean The service from Karol and his team was fantastic at no point did we have to ask for our glasses to be topped up, nothing was too much for them and Karol even offered to take a photo of us. Beautiful spritz cocktails and reasonably priced champagne bottles The table in the conservatory was a perfect backdrop to a wonderful afternoon. Thank you Karol and team

I don’t usually give 5 full stars, but this place deserves it. We had a table at the bar during Christmas. We arrived first, had the opportunity to take the photos with no one inside, the Christmas decor was beautifully done to perfection, there was a fireplace, so warm and cozy. Everything was clean, spotless and perfect. Staff were attentive, very detailed, extremely polite and fantastic customer service, sincere attitude , I enjoyed every moment of the dining experience it was really wonderful. I love a restaurant with great organisation, they knew exactly who booked, which table to seat customers, giving us enough time to read the menu, ask for 2nd drinks etc etc! Definitely will come back again!

The food at this restaurant was possibly progressive/exciting during Princess Diana's tenure some years 30 years ago. Not now. Laughable portions, smug service, and ultra expensive to sit in a well decorated room (if you love the 90's). Served a 45 euro veal paillard with only a wedge of lemon. This place just sucks.

The restaurant was great and I loved the food there, the service was very nice.

First time in Daphne's and got blown away by the service and quality of food. Normally don't like sitting at the bar but Tomasz and the bar team were superb and made our lunch with excellent service , meanwhile looking after customers and prepping drinks for the busy restaurant. All members of staff were polite and professional creating a great vibe and great energy. For me the other highlight was to see a GM being relaxed and creating a great atmosphere by engaging with customers rather than micro managing the team. Thank you again for the experience definitely will be back.

Unfortunately, our dinner was below average. The team needs proper training. especially the team leaders. It's so funny that they think they are invisible and that customers can't see the way they laugh and make side talks about the customers. Simple tasks like cleaning the table from bread crumbs before placing new plates was discarded. 2 bottles of sparkling water were opened although we only asked for one. When we asked for the bill, The team leaders said that it won't be sweet, implying that it will be expensive for us. He even said that it is good we took pictures of our veal plates to prove to our friends that we ate this dish and finished it all. It was very disrespectful. To add to our bad experience, the veal was cooked in a burnt butter that had a horrible taste. Whereas the roasted potatoes were over salted. There are so many Italian restaurants in London that have better food quality and for sure better service.

Absolutely lovely atmosphere - so quiet, so cosy, especially with the beautiful Christmas decor. The scallop starter was delicious, and the wagyu carpaccio with parmigiano was a nice light option. Both starters were reasonably priced for the quality. The pasta dishes - one with crab and one with king prawns - were also tasty, although the prawn dish was a little spicier than expected! The cocktails were probably the best we’ve had in a restaurant setting - very well-thought-out indeed. Overall, not a cheap meal but the price is more or less justified considering the atmosphere, quality of food and cocktails and attentive service throughout.

Terrible service - I called the moment they opened to cancel my reservation since my husband is severely sick and they refused to allow us to cancel. I asked if they’d prefer for him to come in sick and he said “yes that’s no problem!” We also offered up several alternative times to come in but they were fully booked and we don’t live here. I am shocked with this awful customer service and I know for a fact they’ll be able to fill a 7pm reservation the day before Xmas eve with all the holiday decor they offer. I’m understanding of a cancellation policy, but I called at 12pm when they opened for a 7pm reservation to cancel for a legit reason. Shame on you. I hope the man that helped me today has the holiday season he deserves.

Unfortunately our visit to Daphne’s was very average. Although the restaurant, christmassy decor and atmosphere was lovely the food and service was quite a let down. The truffle pasta was £45 for a small portion and the sauce was just melted butter which was a real shame. The meatballs were nice but look like they were straight from packet. However, the zucchini frites & olive oil mash were good. It was a shame we were not seated in the main dining room but they only had larger tables the rest of the restaurant isn’t as nice or well decorated as the main room. I think for the price you pay for the food the quality should be significantly better rather than just going to the restaurant for the decor only.

Great staff and the food was good. Decor is what we really went for. Didn’t feel rushed being there late at night except when ordering our main course since the kitchen closed at 10:45 but reservations was at 10:30pm.

I expected the food to be better, although presentation, service and the establishment are dazzling, the food lacked in my opinion.

The food is worth the visit, the service left some to be desired. Once the food and service are on the same (high) level this will be an incredible place.

We visited daphnes for lunch yesterday. We were welcomed and coasted taken into the cloakroom. Once sat at our table our waiter introduced himself to what we thought was going to be a 5* experience. We ordered tap water, a glass of wine each and our mains. They bought us bottled water and proceeded to add it to the bill which we asked to be removed. The food came out in literally 10 minutes with a different waitress who remained with us for the rest of our visit. We love our pasta al dente, but this wasn’t nice at all, the ragu was delicious but the pasta just let it down. Whilst we were eating, no one came over to ask how the meal was and when the plates were collected the waitress didn’t say anything to us. She came back later to brush off the crumbs from the table, again didn’t even look at us or say a word. She then bought over dessert menus, again without saying a word. My boyfriend said that we didn’t want any dessert and just asked for the bill so she bought it over. We were charged £6.50 for water we didn’t want and £12 service charge for service we never got. We asked for both to be removed, which we have never ever felt the need to do but this is as just appalling service. I definitely wouldn’t recommend daphnes, we’d been looking forward to this meal for months and it was just a massive disappointment.

The service is terrible, nothing comes at the same time and on time, no one looks at you. Nobody knows how to apologize. Food comes at different times, drinks are missing, and only 3 reminders can get the job done. It's truly a disaster.

The food is very good. Nice atmosphere. As for the service… this may sound crazy but the service is a little too good. Before you have even sat down the waiter asks you if you want still or sparkling water. Then when you have just finished your aperitif in our case a glass of champagne he rushes you to order wine. It is very difficult to have a conversation as the waiter is always interrupting for something. I know they mean well but a little less attention could be good

Stunning place but food and service mediocre. We waited 29 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink and bread arrived but there were no plates on the table so we had to flag someone and were then left waiting. The rigatoni was so undercooked the inside was still white. Whilst my negroni and my squid starter were 10/10 there was a piece of plastic in my food which I put to one side and mentioned to the waitress but it clearly didn’t go back to the kitchen or management and nothing was addressed about it further. Cheese and pepper pasta was nice but it all congealed after around 5 minutes rather than remain creamy. Didn’t bother with dessert. Had I not had two kids in tow I would have made a bigger deal but…we came, we saw, we ate but won’t go back

Best grilled veal chop I ever tried!

My friend and I are regulars for an early evening Sunday supper at Daphne’s. Today didn’t disappoint. We had our usual order of sautéed prawns followed by roast baby chicken. But today since it’s the festive season we had the added bonus of a panettone icecream coupe to share. It was delicious, Xmas in a bowl.

Daphnes was nicely decorated for christmas and the food was good. Unfortunately it wasn't as pleasurable as it could have been as we felt completely rushed through the whole dinner. We were in and out within 30 minutes. My plate taken away before I had even finished chewing my last mouthful. Disappointed for the money spent.

I booked this restaurant for our wedding anniversary and it was a great surprise. We were placed in the back of the room and it was so beautiful. I love the decoration and the warmth and colours. The prices are on the expensive side but all the food we ordered was delicious. From the basket of bread to the entree, main and dessert. All was great. Usually beautiful restaurant have so so quality of food but this one was tasty. We had prawns for entree, ragu pasta and meatballs. All delicious! Definitely recommend for special occasion or if you just fancy to treat yourself!

We really enjoyed our food at daphnes. I was a little disappointed in where we ended up sitting as on the photos you only show an area where there are baubles on the ceiling and a fire however we was sat in a darker end of the restaurant with no festive decoration other than a small wreath on the wall. Food was really lovely. Quite a loud atmosphere so if I was to revisit we would perhaps go for lunch.
