Great family-run Greek Cypriot restaurant tucked away in the backstreets of Camden that's retained its charm in the face of a wave of gentrification. I grew up in NW London and Daphne and Tsiakkos & Charcoal in Maida Vale stand shoulders above any Greek chain imitators. Also loved taking my baby son along for the first time - I'm sure he'll be tasting his first taramasalata and moussaka on the next visit.

A gem in Camden. Fresh seafood and a lovely wine

We were going to Andy’s Taverna across the road, now it was Monday at 2pm so understandably it was quiet but it was completely empty and looked closed or at least the lights in the seating area were off so we came to Daphnes instead. It was full except for the table we got, great atmosphere with regulars by the sounds of it. The staff were very professional and friendly, we went with the course for 2 which I highly recommend if you want to try a bit of everything. The Nemea wine was also a great recommendation from our waiter, I think his name was Mykos. Very authentic Greek-Cypriot cuisine, definitely will visit again if we’re in the area, loved the wholesome family vibes inside.

WOW what a memorable meal. Was recommended by a Greek/Cypriot friend and i’m so glad we finally came here to try it. The team were so warm and friendly- Greek hospitality! And the food was absolutely divine, such fresh and tasty seafood. Standout dishes were Taramasalata, Feta dip, Octopus, Grilled Calamari, Meatballs and the potato side dish. I can’t wait to come here again!

The food here is incredibly tasty and the service is 11/10 - highly recommend! I’ve been here twice now and have been blown away by the hospitality and amazing food served at Daphne Restaurant. I had the lamb with the side of roasted potatoes (I can’t remember the actual name of the dish-sorry) and the lamb was very well seasoned and tender. The atmosphere here is very nice too, it’s an intimate restaurant perfect for a small family dinner and special occasions too. I can’t wait to come back!

Visited after the many fantastic reviews and wasn’t disappointed. I hadn’t booked but was on my own due to work. They managed to find me a table in the window despite being very busy on a Tuesday night. Waiters were attentive but not too pushy, food was delicious and price excellent. I started with the Skordalia, a garlic potato dip with perfectly cooked aubergine. I could have eaten that all evening. For main I went with Beef Stifado which was so tender and accompanied by perfectly cooked potato’s, crisp on the outside and soft all the way through. I can’t recall the name of the Greek red wine I had but it was AOC and a brilliant match. I wish I had space for dessert but sadly not. Amazing food, really nice staff and a wonderful atmosphere.

Daphne's is such a lovely restaurant. All the staff members are charming and the food is fantastic. It's great to see this independent restaurant going strong, long may it last. Incredibly great value as well!

Lovely restaurant! The staff were so lovely and the food was so delicious. It was a fairly small space but it added to the warm and cosy atmosphere. I cannot stop raving how good the food was!!! Definitely going to be coming back again

Going there for years , authentic Greek Cypriot cuisine, even black eyed beans it is on the menu. Meze it is always the best choice if you haven't eaten for 2 days, but my favourite fried calf's liver

Omg, a Greek restaurant with real Greeks! Not white, ginger-beard hipsters! Hurray! The staff were fantastic, really friendly and accommodating and made sure to keep the door closed when customers would annoyingly not close it properly! We were greeted with a plate of delicious black olives, we ordered a bottle of house red wine (very yummy) and tap water for our group of 3. I ordered a starter of feta cheese, olive oil and chilli but sorry to say it wasn't quite spicy enough for me but I shouldn't expect Malaysian-level spice to be honest. It was yummy and went well with the toasted bread provided by the restaurant. I had the Moussaka, which came with cheese, not sure why, but it was delicious, the spices really made it, lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, so hearty in this horrible cold weather outside. Lovely crisp bits too, which are my favourite. The picture of the round plate is the Moussaka, my mum had the Kleftiko (lamb), also very yummy, and my dad had Rabbit stew, just the right amount of gaminess flavour, amazingly rich! As I said, the service was great, the waiter had a wonderful authentic Greek accent, very holistic and personal in his care, taking our jackets and storing them for us, as well as my walking aid. Lots of personality and charm. I only have 4 stars because the people behind us were loud but it's fine, it was cosy and I have no complaints.

I am Cypriot and have been to many Cypriot restaurants, I can say, this is the best! Had octopus, sheftalia, loukanika and Zucchini for sides and as mains we had kleftiko, moussaka and Sea Bass. All the dishes were amazing! Lovely ambiance, great service and sensational food!

Get the papas fritas and the burratta! Amazing!

The food is great value, the set lunch is a fantastic bargain. I would recommend the taramasalata and sea bass with potatoes. The service is so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed, no sense of being hurried. I will be back.

Cosy small restaurant, serving authentic Greek food. We decided to have a pre-concert dinner here, before a show at the nearby Jazz Cafe. We were greeted by a charming waiter who took our coats and showed us to our table. He patiently described to us all the dishes listed on the blackboard and took our drinks order. The house red wine came quickly and was very nice. We ordered two warm starters from the blackboard (grilled halloumi in an olive oil, capers and lemon dressing, plus a sort of stew with artichoke hearts, carrots, peas, celery). For mains, we had lamb souvlaki with chips and lamb stifado with roast potatoes, and a Greek salad to share. All the dishes were home made and tasted delicious. Highly recommended and suggest to book in advance, as the place filled up in no time.

A lovely intimate restaurant serving traditional Greek Cypriot food. Always served with smiles and traditional hospitality. We particularly like to go at lunchtime if we can and my favourite is the meat moussaka, and my husband loves the afelia with it's flavours of red wine and herbs with the pork. We will be back.

The welcome and service were excellent, with explanations of the Greek dishes. Our fish dishes with rice and salad were tasty and well cooked. We had simply starters and coffee, no wine and paid £65 without service. Good value in a friendly atmosphere.

My daughter took me to Daphnes to celebrate my birthday, it must be over ten years since I last visited.. There has been some changes to the restaurant since my last visit it is more compact with the kitchen now downstairs.We enjoyed prawns saganaki, spanakopitta, vegetable moussaka, kleftiko and Greek salad accompanied by a bottle of Pinot Grigio one of the best Greek meals I have had in a long time, staff were welcoming and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant and hope to be back sometime soon

Thank you to the staff at Daphne’s for a cosy dinner with delicious Greek food. Waiters took our coats, explained to specials to us. We were not rushed, so much time to talk and eat. Good place for old friends. Tasteful and beautiful restaurant too with a two page menu (perfect size) and small open kitchen.

Stumbled upon Daphne just off the busy streets of Camden. What a wonderful surprise. The owners were delightful and helped us to select our wine and main courses. Everything was delicious and not outrageous expensive. Highly recommend!

I just passed by and wanted to give it a try. After all, the price of the set lunch is very reasonable. I’m so glad that I made this decision cuz the food is just amazing! I order the mixed dip for starters and Afelia as a main. Just check the third picture out and you will see how much I like the Afelia! I was hesitating about the menu, and an old lady came to me and explained everything, super friendly. Will definitely come back again soon!

Really fancied some Greek cuisine whilst in London and heard great things about here. We walked up and the restaurant was busy they told us a table would be available in half an hour or so we went for a drink nearby and came back and were immediately seated upon our return. We ordered some white wine which was really tasty and we were given some breads to go with our starters. We opted for the greek sausages and a halloumi special which had a delightful sauce with capers in it. For main I had the seabass special which was probably the best fish i've ever eaten with lovely crispy roast potatoes. My girlfriend had the veg moussaka which was top tier. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend coming here so much so I'm considering popping down to London so I can go again.

This is a real hidden gem of a place in the centre of Camden Town. It was recommended to us a few weeks ago and we have been back every week ever since! That speaks for itself. The set menu of a 2 course meal for £12.50 is amazing value. As soon as we are seated, a lovely plate of Greek olives are placed on the table and we usually go for a Greek starter and follow on with the sea-bass fillet that comes with a choice of vegetables , we like a portion of home cooked 'fat' chips and an enormous mixed salad. Highly recommended.

Oh boy, are you in for a treat! A real Greek restaurant with a most delightful family running the place. The price well I feel a little guilty... the food was so fresh and tasty and in ample portions. Nicholas was an outstanding host, waiter, and, just as I thought, his family has owned the restaurant since 1984.

The food was really good, I ordered the beef stifado and it was phenomenal. They have great gluten free options and even gluten free pita. The waiter was really friendly and explained all the dishes for us. Highly recommend

The ingredients are fresh and excellent quality … just look at the olive oil they serve on the table and you will get it !!! Food was very tasty. Service very friendly. Also lovely ambience. However in this day and age, other options of milk (besides full fat cow's milk) should be available for the tea and coffee. At the very least, semi skimmed or skimmed milk. I cannot tolerate full fat milk and many others are the same. If it weren't for this they would have received 5 stars

First time visit to this lovely Greek restaurant with my husband, son and my sons fiancée, to celebrate their engagement. Food was outstanding, as was the service. Looked after from the minute we walked in the door to when we left. Such attention to detail. Fantastic atmosphere. The Beef Stifado was beautiful, and the other dishes all looked, and was told, and tasted amazing. I will definitely be back when we visit London next.

We ordered a selection of items and found the food very bland. If you like very simple seasoning like oregano/salt/pepper/tomato and lemon juice, you’ll like it here. If you prefer heartier seasoning, you probably won’t.

Best Greek food I've had in London, hands down! This humble restaurant transports you to an authentic Greek taverna. The atmosphere and quality of the food is exactly what I know and love about dining in Greece. Clearly popular with the locals, the staff share a personal connection with patrons which really brings a warming family feel to the place and is something seldom replicated in London. The food itself is expertly and lovingly prepared, and speaks right to the soul. The lamb kleftiko I ordered was so perfectly juicy and tender, the video speaks for itself! I hope to dine here again soon!

Another lovely evening meal at Daphne's. We have been many times over the years and are welcomed back like friends in this delightful family-run place. There is a large selection of Greek Cypriot food on the menu as well as a specials board. We like to start with an ouzo ( or two!) and enjoy Othello red wine with our meal. Everything we ate was delicious and people on the other tables appeared to be enjoying their meals too! This is a small neighbourhood place that has many regular clients so it is best to book to avoid disappointment. Go there-you will love it!

Just when I thought Greek food couldn't get better in Camden, Daphne comes along and exceeds all expectations. The service was excellent, we felt so looked after. The food was incredible especially the swordfish (never had better). Can't wait to go back!

My husband took me to this cosy restaurant for my birthday dinner last week and honestly he could not have chosen a better place. Food was exceptional and service 100% perfect! This place took me back to my home island of Cyprus. We are both Greek Cypriots and love our food and this is the best by far I have had in this country. The most authentic Greek/Cypriot food with the most authentic Greek/Cypriot hospitality. Highly recommended and will be returning time and time again. Also, just a note, the food is exceptionally clean too.

Exceptional little restaurant! I've been twice recently - once as a two, once as a four - and the staff could not be more accommodating and personable. The food is fantastic and the portions ensure you never leave hungry! Both times we've asked for the three course meze and they've taken care of the rest. Really reasonable pricing for such a lovely setting - highly recommend it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

SUMMARY: A gem in the heart of Camden. Lovely Greek place with charming and welcoming metre. Very cosy and warm like when you are visiting grandma. Food was delicious. Really good value for money. MENU: We had 2 set lunch menu, which included 1 starter and 1 main dish. STARTERS: We selected a mix of dippers (tzatziki, humus, tarama and aubergine dip) with pita bread, and lentil soup. Both were delicious. The lentil soup felt like homemade. MAIN DISHES: We picked charcoal grilled sea bass and chicken shashlik. Main courses included one side each to choose between rice, potatoes and salad. Both dishes were quite big and tasty. We couldn’t resist and order calamari as starter as well. DESSERTS: They were not included in the set list, but wanted to give it a try. We tried Kataifi and Revani. They were alright, nothing remarkable. PEOPLE: The two people attending the public were lovely chatting with us and explaining all the dishes very thoroughly.

This was our first visit but certainly won't be our last! Wonderful little restaurant with friendly atmosphere, welcoming and efficient staff,and superb food. The wine that was recommended was perfect accompaniment to our meal. Really reasonably priced too.
