We come in weekly my husband loves the oysters and I love the wings. Everyone is so nice but, the best experience we had was talking with Zach. He is so passionate about his job and and an amazing you man. His oyster specials have actually made me like oysters too!! He is definitely an asset to the establishment.

This is the place! We always have a great meal, drinks and conversation with all the friendly locals.

Quality food, great staff and service.

Amazing!!! Their fried oysters and spicy tuna oysters are fresh! Their bloody mary was the best I've had at the shore! Definitely will be back.

This restaurant has it all! Bartender Ryan was the best! Drinks and service were great. Waitress Katie superb. Food was fresh and delicious. The raw oysters were freshest I've had in a while. We tried some of their specials and were not disappointed. We will certainly return.

Arrogant guy behind the bar w/ beard ( use to work years ago at causeway boat rentals ) $6 for a domestic bottle at “ Happy Hour “ if u want to call it that! Sat down at table to have something to eat and a beer… When paying my bill I asked waitress how much for the same beer I bought at the bar and she said $5.50.. I asked why was a charged $6 at the bar and her response was maybe he didn’t have change lol I didn’t want to get manager and cause a stink… If he did that a 1000 times to everyone thought out the day that’s $500 he’s pocketing or making for the bar… Just wanted to let people know to check their tabs because they are thieves!!!! Their food is average bar food at best! I’ll never steep foot in there again!!!

There was a slight wait, but the food was absolutely delicious and more than worth the wait. We loved the crab dip from the raw oyster bar, the fries, and the crab cakes. Delicious experience!

Being a vegetarian married to a steak lover can be tricky, but this place is a winner for us both! The veggie sandwich is perfection, with fresh, flavorful sourdough bread, and my husband couldn’t stop raving about his steak. The fries were a crispy, addictive bonus. Our lovely waitress made me feel so welcome, and I loved chatting with her about vegetarian dishes. Plus, the bouncer is the kindest person you’ll ever meet. Highly recommend!

Always great food and an attentive staff.

Old causeway is always good. You may need to wait for a table or a spot at the bar, but the food is always consistent. Happy hour is at the bar only, and parking is tough even in the winter. Salmon farro bowl, pretzel and Brussels sprouts are my favorite. Drinks are a bit pricey, but what isn’t anymore. Sunday brunch is also out of this world!

We went here based on a recommendation from a friend, and loved it! Great casual and fun place, really awesome food, and super service. They don't seat until your full party is there, so don't plan on arriving in spurts for larger parties. Kim was our waitress and she was awesome and helped with some recommendations. We tried the deviled eggs because the menu said it was a must try, and they were delish. The asparagus was cooked perfect with a lovely light lemon flavor. Fish tacos were super, comparable to some of the best ones I've had in San diego, and the Pork chop special was to die for! We will be back when we are in the area again. Forgot to mention the rocky road bread pudding - simply scrumptious and this could easily appease a party of 4 to share!

Big friendly bar/restaurant with excellent food - all categories. Lobster fries, roasted broccoli, Caesar salad are exceptional. Bar and wait staff friendly and helpful.

wonderful location…deserves a michigan star for the chowder alone, however it brings atmosphere, a full menu, vibes…loved the pop punk Christmas playlist…i have both a deep love and distant yearning for The Old Causeway Steak & Oyster House

Wings are making, burger was cooked perfectly and the fries are the best here. What more could you ask for? If you love wings, they are a must try here!

Celebrating hubbies 82 years. (Thanks to the sweet lady who made our reservations) The food was marvelous. The service was exemplary. Our waitress was a doll. It was a great evening for our family. Now....a year later and wonderful food and same sweet waitress. Can't beat that.

Samantha T was very rude and ruined the whole birthday experience for my daughter. I pointed out the rats on the floor and she laughed it off and said “oh don’t worry they are our friends”. I tried to get a picture of the rats and she stood in front of them so I couldn’t take a picture of the furry friends. Terrible experience overall. Rude staff and they stared in our face the whole time as if I was a famous movie star. Don’t waste your time or money.

Old Causeway Happy Hour is unbeatable! Awesome wings, awesome oysters, great fries, yummy mussels, succulent sautéed asparagus, excellent brussel sprouts, cold beers, unique calamari, bonsai Oysters, and barkeeps Samantha and Brownie are the absolue best! Love this place! And Derick! But shhhh. Don't tell anyone. Let's keep it our little secret. Ok? Shhhhhhh......

It was Saturday night and we knew old Causeway was going to be busy. We pulled in the parking lot and luckily found a spot right near the front door. We put our names in for the hour and a half wait. Lucked out again as a high top in the bar area opened up right away. We grabbed it and decided to order drinks and apps until our table was ready. We ordered fire-roasted oysters, calamari, and wings. Delicious! Katie was our waitress. She was so great we decided to cancel our table for dinner and just stay with Katie in the bar area. For dinner, we had the pork chop with horseradish cream, the oyster rockefeller pasta, the shrimp and grits, and the old causeway lobster tails. Wow! All were soooo tasty! We finished the evening off with apple cobbler and dessert cocktails. We had a fabulous dinner and wonderful service from Katie!

Food was delicious. Some of the best wings in the area. Steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I would also recommend the brussel sprouts and calamari. The waitress got several of our drink orders wrong that we ordered of the cocktail menu and gave us mashed potatoes instead of baked potatoes.

Bachelor Party in my Mouth! I don’t recall the dish's name, but the pasta was perfectly cooked, al dente – not rock hard, but commandingly firm. A mouthful let you know who was boss. It danced in a creamy, thick white sauce, which got on my chin when a wet noodle slipped out. Oh no, Sir, you get right back here. But this was more than a three-way. Heavenly slices of meat, most likely short rib, basked in this handsome dish, flirting like sirens. As these “short” ribs hit the back of my throat, it was utter ecstasy. A fantastic experience that can bring you to your knees. If you take this dish home, make sure to firmly wrap it tightly in plastic.

This place is fabolous. On the road. Phone low on battery. Getting nervous. Phone may die. Arrive at old causeway…service…perfect…fast charger in house and THEY DIDNT EVEN CHARGE ME TO USE IT! Live music made me feel like I was at concert back home. Oysters rockefeller was horribl…y delicious! Haha

Hit the happy hour and was not disappointed. Fresh oysters, good drink specials. Got lucky with a small table by the bar (twice now). Nice place in the middle of the bay area. Bartenders and waitress were both friendly and attentive. I could imagine it getting frustrating when it gets crowded but that's mostly true anywhere at the Jersey shore.

Our family has had dinner at OC many, many times. Overall, we like the place. Tonight wasn't the best, however. The main thing was that when we came in around 5:15, we specifically asked if and when live music would play. We like the high-top tables next to the bar, but the live music, though usually well-played, is too loud for a dining experience. The hostess told us that the music would begin at 8. It began at 6. Conversation during our dinner came to a halt once the music began to play. So, three of us, then with a tip, came to $156 or so. Three beers and a glass of wine in there. Pretty pricey for three OC Chop salads (all with protein), and my steak topping came out medium. Not how I ordered it, and the salad serving size has definitely shrunk. I wouldn't have minded any of that, really, had the music not started at 6 when we were told 8. We would have waited for a booth (slow night by OC standards), and had a quiet dinner.

Got there for happy hour at 5:30. Kate was our waitress and took our order soon as we sat. Didn’t return to our table until 6:02, and when I placed another round for oysters she looked at her watch and said she has to place that immediately because happy hour is over. But it’s not my fault she hadn’t returned to our table to check in on us. My husband ordered a Steak house burger but asked for no bacon. (As he doesn’t eat pork for religious reasons). The burger came with bacon on it and we Told Kate and she took it to the back, and returned within seconds and said she grabbed the wrong order. But you can clearly see that she simply took off the bacon and returned the same exact burger that had all bacon grease still on the toast and egg. we asked for the bill and she simply just placed it on our table without a word and left to the next table. Been here plenty of times before but will not come back.

Went for dinner with 8 people for my sons 21st birthday. Everyone was awsome. Our server was the best. And the food was amazing.

Very crowded, limited automobile parking

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Everything that I have had here was delicious. Service and atmosphere is top tier. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Typically I love the food and service however my most recent visit for brunch left a bad taste in my mouth. One of the meals was not served to order with well done poached eggs. The egg yoke spilled onto the meal and our server suggested it was just the sauce (an off white creamy color versus the golden yolk... I think not) so I refuted her excuse. The meal was taken back and returned few moments later, exact same plate with the yolk on the meal just the 2 poached eggs replaced with 2 fried eggs. Very disappointing. Next brunch will be somewhere else as a place that should be of higher caliber should not allow either of these factors. Possibly if management were making their rounds and checking in with tables they might learn of these issues and tend properly to patrons.

There's steaks come in two grades, and we both got the better grade, which was a lot more money. All I can say is that thank God we didn't get the Lesser grade. The cuts were terribly inadequate and then poorly cooked. A $70 steak deserves some effort... but nope. All of the food was lackluster at best, but the bill reflected a 5-star restaurant. It's obvious that the place is riding on its reputation, but that reputation has expired, and there's just no effort left

I really enjoyed my experience here Usually so busy I don't even try to go,which tells you right there that they are doing something right. The food was very good and so was service I recommend stopping in if you haven't done so yet and if you have been here Come again and enjoy

Cool place great selection. Good food

We have not been to Old Causeway in years and it did not disappoint. The food was great and the service was excellent - from the Hostess Ava and our Waiter Jack. We even met John the Manager who was wonderful! The acoustics were not great and there was some difficulty hearing although it was a truly busy night. We will not wait as long to return!

Been coming here for years and can honestly say have never had a bad experience. The bartenders serves and barbacks are always friendly and on there game. Great job by ownership and managers and kitchen.

Had to wait about 40min however the OC Burger and the calamari were amazing 🤩 so it was worth the wait. Wish more beers were on the happy hour special. $17 for 2 drafts is a bit silly.

I've been to old causeway on numerous occasions and the food never disappoints. Most of the time when I go I sit at the bar and never have an issue with the service. However, I got seated at a table at 8pm on a Tuesday after waiting about 45 minutes. I have never felt more rushed and uncomfortable by my waitress along with the food runners. While our appetizers were out they came around a couple times to ask if we were done and if they could clear our plates to which we said no. Our entrees came out while our apps were still out. They came around again, and started picking up our oyster plate while I literally had my oyster in my hand. While we were eating our entrees they came around a few times asking if they could clear our plates both the busboys and our own waitress and we were clearly still eating. I was picking on my french fries (which my amazing lobster roll came with so many) at the end of the meal to the point where when they came back a 4th time I let them take it, mid-eating my french fries. We ended up ordering dessert and another round of drinks at the end and you could tell their annoyance with that too. The waitress came and took the salt & pepper shakers and basically took everything off our table until we were ready to ask for the check. Our waitress didnt even take a minute to grab it, she already had her check in her back pocket ready to give it to us. We got the hint she wanted us to leave (it was 10pm). Just upsetting because I've never had such rushed service before for a restaurant that closes at midnight and our waitress was waiting other tables in her section still.

In Manahawkin, there is no other no better option for fine American seafood and land eats. In a series of seafood markets/restaurants owned by same family, the Old Causeway takes the cake. Normally very crowded from Thurs - Saturday but your wait is worth it. (Plus there's a mobile reservation app they use) Anyone familiar with the Black Whale, Mud City Crabhouse (next door to Old Causeway) and/or Ship Bottom Shellfish will feel right at home.

Had some pretty mixed experiences the two times I went here recently. The first day I went for a late lunch, and the food was outstanding. Everything was fresh and the service super quick. The next day we went for dinner with a bigger party around dinner. We had the reservation set but still had to wait 20+ minutes. Once we sat, we waited 1+1/2 hrs before the food came out. We weren’t offered bread until two minutes before the food came out. The food also didn’t come out all at once and we ended up missing and waiting for things to arrive. However, again the food was terrific. I’d definitely recommend checking out the place for the great food, but would caution coming during any rush due to the service.

We tried the crab cakes, crab claws, lobster tails, and sandwiches and many more at this restaurant, and everything was delicious. Each visit has been a delight, making this spot a must-try. We keep coming back for the consistently great food and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

❤️ Overview: I went here with my parents for dinner. When we showed up around 7pm, they said the wait to be seated was an hour but the high tops were first come first serve, and luckily we were able to get a high top. There was a band playing, which was nice BUT it was super loud. So if you don’t want loud music right in your face the whole time you’re eating, I would wait for a table! Overall the food was good! I was definitely surprised. My parents say they like this place so I trusted them! Hahaha. ❤️What was ordered: Salmon and farrow, farrow salad, and burger with fried oysters ❤️Stand outs: Salmon and farrow (it was the meal I ordered) ❤️Would I come back/recommend: Yes - I would come back Yes - I would recommend

Food was amazing! We were a bit unlucky as we had a long wait but then the place cleared till the next wave . Food and service from Lexy made up for it.

ALWAYS have a good time at the Old Causeways happy hour 3pm until tipsy? Yesterday however was especially a good one as the staff as was st their highest form!! Grey goose martinis paired with the crabcake wrap….mmm so good but so is almost everything on the menu. I’m still trying new things there but my staples are the burgers, calamari, wings, fish tacos, French onion soup, all salads, steak and NOW the oysters!!! Thank you so much everyone for my first oyster tasting!!!

Best seafood around and can't beat their $1 raw oysters at happy hour!

The bonsai oysters, Manhattan clam chowder, crab cakes and burgers were phenomenal. Everything from the service to the food was top notch. Large bowl of soup, fresh shucked oysters, delicious lump crab cakes and juicy angus burgers. Great drinks and experience. Loved it!

Very busy so expect a wait but it's worth it!

Highlight of restaurants when out here visiting. Food great oysters always fresh and service top notch. Love going here and have never been disappointed. A visit to LBI isn’t complete without at least a couple of visits here. Happy hour is truly happy hour.

I could sit at the raw bar all day! Staff was very friendly!

I was disappointed. Food wasn't all that great. Prices were a bit high. Parking was terrible. It was very loud and hard to hold a conversation. It was packed with patrons, so maybe the problem was me because I just didn't enjoy the place.

The food is always fresh and delicious. I absolutely love the Pasta Primavera! Dawn, our server, was a delight. She was so friendly and knowledgeable! Highly recommend! You won't be disappointed!

My husband and I went on a day trip to LBI Manahawkin and tried a few places in the area. We ended up at Old Causeway for dinner and it was the best restaurant we’ve been to in a while. Brie took excellent care of us and was an exceptional server; she was kind and welcoming, took extra care to accommodate an allergy, informed us of the specials and made recommendations, and was perfectly attentive. We had the lobster bisque, pork belly app, hot honey Brussels sprouts, the pesto hangar steak special, and the veal chop. Everything tasted great, we were impressed with the careful presentation of each dish, and the portions were generous as well. It was a fantastic experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there, but the seating situation could be a lot better. The benches were quite uncomfortable.

The food was good and portions were quite large. We had brunch, and it was enjoyable, but my crab Benedict had so much hollandaise on it that I couldn't taste the crab. I scraped it off and wasn't as happy with the crab cake as I'd hoped. It was ok, just not the best I've ever had. I don't remember what the rest of the party of 6 had, but it was all brunch food and everyone seemed satisfied. Several boxes were needed for leftovers.

Terrible service they sit us in the wrong table, They make us move from the table and tell us find where to sit, we finally got a small table We waited for 15 minutes nobody give us a menu or even bring a water really disappointed.

Great band, great prople, great atmosphere

I stopped here on my way back from the shore late night and was honestly blown away by the food! I had the mussels which was cooked perfectly, but THE Shrimp and grits with the pepper jack cheese, and chunks of andouille sausage, peppers, and tomatoes served with a side of fried green tomatoes was deliciousssss, with the creamy creole sauce on top. I was literally dancing eating my food it was so good. Not to mention the live band set the atmosphere and the service was on point. The bartender made my tequila sunrise with love 🥰 I will be back for sure. 🤩

A party of nine and asked if bill could be divided 3 ways. Seemed to be way too difficult and waitress seemed annoyed we even asked and told us we could figure it out in the end. What a nightmare and every others place we e. Even to on LBI ever had an issue doing so. Food was okay. Ordered veal and asked for medium rare. Was more well done but with the issues we were having with waitress, better to simply eat and exit no plan to ever go back here. Not sure why it’s so popular. Many better choices

Had a nice dinner with my son and his family. Kids menu available, and they enjoyed their choices. Calamari appetizer was delicious! Son and daughter in law raved about the steaks they had. I enjoyed the crab cake, asparagus was well prepared. Really enjoyed my dirty martini! Overall, excellent visit.

Not a place to celebrate your 40th birthday! Tuna was supposed to be rare and cold and it was hot and medium well. Grapefruit salsa was a couple pieces of grapefruit with peppers and onions not really a salsa

Been here once before for apps and drinks. Nothing special about it. Went to dinner on Thursday. A la cart sirloin steak costs over $40. Came out medium rare, despite ordering medium well. No sides included. Then they make you pay your check at table with their handheld machine, as they watch you...which creates an uncomfortable pressure. Automatic Tip options based off check total amount, which should never include on the tax.....you don't tip on tax! Service was just ok. I think this place attracts those who enjoy consuming alcoholic beverages first and foremost, as the bar area seems to be the focal point.

Loud, food was bland, tuna was overcooked when asked if I wanted rare from the bartender tuna came out medium well. Subpar for the overprice food and drinks. Definitely don’t celebrate anything special there and waste your money.
