Dainty's Fish & Chips in North Down

I went in here today at lunchtime to order a sausage supper which cost me £4.85. Rather than stay in the shop with my mask on I chose to wait outside, and while standing outside I noticed a board on the wall stating that they were doing a lunchtime special sausage supper with beans etc for I think £3.30. So I went straight back in and asked if I should have ordered this instead and was told by the younger staff member I had ordered with that; "you didn't order that". I said that I didn't know there was a special, but might expect to be advised of this when ordering. Her reply was "there's a sign outside with the specials on it that you could have read". Embarrassed, I went back outside again to wait for my supper. Needless to say I won't be back. This review is not about the difference in cost - more to highlight the service other readers might expect to receive here.

I used to get from here regularly and it was great . Took a break from fast food for a while then today decided to get some chicken gougons . They used to be the best in Bangor but some whizzkid thought it would be smart to add chilli powder to the batter . Not nice at all and I didnt ask for chilli battered gougons . The chips were like mush and the thousand island dressing was nothing more than tomato sauce and mayo . Not the quality that they once were very disapointed and a total waste of money

Got a fish supper on Saturday and my god he needs a sense of urgency. If you have time on your hands its perfect, if not i suggest going elsewhere.

Had the Chicken Goujon Bap Meal. Very quickly prepared and tasted great. For the price it can't be beaten! We will definitely be back!

the food is lovely. the staff is nice and place clean, but portions very small. delivery on both occasions i got from here was slow.

Friendly service, cooked to order, gorgeous chips & great big fish with perfect batter. Consistently good. Our chippy of choice in Bangor.

Phoned ahead for a fish supper while driving between Belfast & Bangor because I was working late and had no time. Arrived and paid then realised they hadn't even started it? Waited about half an hour but had to just right it off as the customer was on the phone. You need the whole night off to eat here. Slowest Fish Supper I can ever remember? Would have asked for my money back but that would probably have cost me even more.

Dropped in here today with my mum to pick up something up for a quick lunch. We have never been to Dainty's before. I have to compliment the guy who was serving , his name was Ian and he was helpful and friendly and it was service with a smile, but a genuine smile. A rare thing sometimes in even bigger establishments. The food was cooked fresh, good serving and cleanly prepared. Would recommend it if hungry, in a hurry and near the by-pass. There is a petrol station and shop at the same stop.
