This was truly the worst experience of my life. The staff were terrible and the food was even worst. We did not get a menue and were told that it was a set menue for the night after the starter was seved. There were only 3 tables with customers including us, we waited over 1 hour and 30 min for the main course and wish we had left. Once the main arrived it was cold and I would not call it a main. Three small pieces of meat, some rice and something that looked like salad. When it came to paying the bill the card machine was conveniently not working. So was advised to go to tesco for the money which was at least a 30 min walk. Think this place needs to be investigated. Please do not go!!!

On arrival, we noted that the restaurant was almost completely empty which should have indicated the experience we could expect. Undeterred, we thought we would give it a try. There is a set menu at a fixed price of £25pp. We were told this menu consisted of cold and hot mezes, followed by a main course and fruit for dessert. Fast forward two hours, we still hadn't been served the main meal and the mezes were disappointingly bland. The music was really loud so we couldn't seek refuge in each other's company either. The only thing that saved the evening (and probably why we stayed so long) was the hilarity of how bad everything was. We were dying to leave so asked for the bill before the mains arrived. After a few conversations, the restaurant accepted our generous offer of £15pp. Never again.

Being half Cypriot, I was looking forward to this place. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. If I could sum up the quality of food and experience in one word, it would be abysmal. Before I get on to the other points, I'd like to get the positives out of the way first. The waitress was polite. That is all. Onto the bad points. You have mishmash decor which looks tacky. You have lights flashing in your face as you eat so bring sunglasses. The experience continues with loud music so high, good luck trying to have a conversation with anyone more than a foot away from you. After two hours of getting a suntan from strobe lighting and losing hearing in both ears, we decided enough was enough and left the restaurant. Our mains still hadn't come but we had had enough. All in all, avoid unless you enjoy bland food, slow service, loud music, garish decor and strobe lighting, at the same time.

A meal which took almost two hours and we have yet to have the main course that never came, bear in mind the owner wanted to charge us £25 per head. The only good thing about this place was the waitress who was polite and reasonable. Apart from that, the food (both cold and hot meze) was ridiculously bland and tastless. The main course never came so we decided to ask for the bill. They demanded for £20 pp saying they gave us £5 off because we didnt have the main course and dessert - well that doesn't make any sense. How can the main course and dessert cost less than the starters!?!? That's absolutely bizzare!! The manager or owner refused to talk to us and instead sent his minions to sort the issue out. In the end we managed to walk out paying £15 pp. This place is an embarrassment of Cypriot food and has no representation what so ever. I'LL HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOBODY TO GO!!!

I am a well travelled person. Not only have I been to countless places in the world - I've eaten out more times in my life than I've had home cooked food. So it is fair to assume I know a good restaurant from a bad one. Well, no - not really. In fact my idea of a poor restaurant fell way above the standard of the Cyprus Meze Bar and Restaurant in Leyton. Maybe it should have been obvious something was wrong the moment me and my complement of friends walked into the place. The venue was deserted, apart from one table at the very back. On a Friday evening for a restaurant that seated about two hundred at full capacity this was concerning. Oddly, despite how unattended the place was, the manager had decided to hire a DJ to blare out music at nightclub levels of loudness. On top of this there were strobe repeating lights which were irritating and blinding. It absolutely killed the atmosphere. Our hosts seemed unwilling to let any sense go unaffected because the cutlery was rough and there was strong incense passing through the restaurant at intervals. The staff were slow to react to our presence. It was almost as if they were just as surprised as we were that we were actually eating there. We were told there was a preset menu which would come to £25 per person. All we needed to do was sit and wait for the courses to be brought to us, one by one. This seemed fine at the time but two hours later we hadn't yet had something warm. When we did eventually get a warm plate - which was a kofte each - I was so underwhelmed by it I took a picture. The lighting was poor and it was blurry - but I refused to retake the photo on the basis the kofte just wasn't worth the effort. In fact, the picture serves as an effective metaphor. In summary I'd say the food was bland. "Taste" was the only sense that was not molested during our experience. Over two hours later and my party decided we didn't want to spend another second at the Cyprus Meze Bar. We called for the bill before our main course and explained our disappointment. The waiting staff responded by taking five pounds off our bill. So, by their own admittance, were they suggesting their cold starters of vegetables and coleslaw was worth four times as much as their main course?! Good thing we didn't wait to find out ourselves then! Eventually the restaurant arrived at a compromise, and we spent £15 each on something we could have bought for just £5 from Tesco. In summary - between the awful smells, sounds, lights and textures were bland tastes. If I wanted to replicate the experience I'd bring a sandwich to a nightclub and save myself some dignity.

Only 1 good member of staff, the rest were unprofessional.. Dirty table cloth, dirty glasses for , drink. Disgusting rotten, stale salad which we did not eat and waited for our meals. When Tamsin course arrived with side salad, my family found bugs in the lettuce, luck for them at least they had not eaten their bug, I in my hunger had eaten my bug. We remonstrated with the owner, who was also the cook.my opinion. Lovely setting, but hygiene needs to be sorted out.

Visited this restaurant on sat 13th June 2015 to celebrate my friend's birthday. Staff were very friendly and the food was ok. There were live bands playing and got the guests on the dance floor. A great night with good company of people. Only downside was my friend's vegetarian meal took long to be served to her and she was the only person eating her food the time she got hers. A good place for great entertainment.

Couldnt ask for better front of house service, polite, quick service with a smile. If took us 10mins to get seated as it was busy and we didnt book so we was to blame but the staff managed to arrange us a table which was a great thumbs up. The food was mouth watering well seasoned and cooked to perfection, i ordered a chicken and lamb shish combi, the food come quick and piping hot, very genourous portions, couldnt fault this restaurant, it was my first experience and i will be back. Shame i we had to leave early and we missed the entertainment but Thank you cyprus meze bar.

I read the previous reviews and wouldn't disagree about the quality of the food-it was poor! That's why my headline refers to it being a dinner and dance and not a typical restaurant. Your paying for the whole experience, where unfortunately the food is secondary. As someone Turkish it reminded me of an engagement or wedding party experience. I get the concept and its a good one, but your going there for the food, go elsewhere.

I went to this restaurant for a christening party and thanks to the festive mood and the friends i got the occasion to spend some time with, i was able to get passed the horrible restaurant service and the awful food. In the beginning they got all sorts of starters on small plates but so many in the same time they had to build them up on top of each other transforming all in a disgusting display of food. Then they served some sort of aperitif once small piece at a time and basically it took a half an hour to get the "complete" aperitif on everyone's plate ("complete" aperitif is a very generous way to call it). The main course was "the icing on the cake" when they brought three bbq chicken wings and three pieces of bbq chicken breast feeling disoriented in the extremely large plate but with views to the completely tasteless flat boiled rice shack from the other side of the plate (Turkish restaurants mix the rice with pastina or couscous and some spices for a great taste). The whole ensemble had ABSOLUTELY NO TASTE. The service was a shame. Another thing was the lack of respect towards the other non-cypriots customers in the restaurant by tormenting us with extremely loud turkish-cyprus music for almost 5 hours without thinking of alternating music stiles to please everyone. The funny part is how i stupidly keep trying to find a decent greek/cyprus restaurant in London after having experienced already 6 different such restaurants in this city and every time was worse than the previous time. Bottom line, i can not recommend this restaurant or any greek/cyprus restaurant in London to anyone just keep looking for an italian, chinese, romanian or indian restaurant.

Visiting with the extended family on Saturday evening. The only good thing to say is that the entertainment and dancing we're okay. This is where the enjoyment ends. The tables are too close together making it very difficult to get out. The service was mediocre. Set menu only, Meze was poor, main course was very poor. Overall very difficult to describe this as a Turkish restaurant, best eat somewhere else, then just come for the entertainment.

My friends and I went there. It was a total ripoff! We were told that there is no set menu and we can choose, well that didn't happen. When we tried to order, the waiter didn't know what half the menu was about! There was also a language barrier (no fault of his really), they really need to employ people who can actually take an order without confusion! The food was average, nothing that you would rave about. On top of that, they charged £4 for half litre of tap water! Yes, that's right TAP water, plus £2.50 for a can of coke! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! All I can say that it certainly was memorable for all the wrong reasons!

This place will serve you with nothing but disappointment if you are looking for good food and good entertainment. It's full of very poorly trained chefs, waiters and rude staff. The few times I have been here, (mainly dragged against my will to give it another go) I have been increasingly disappointed time and time again. I'm of turkish origin so I know how maze and turkish cuisines are supposed to be cooked and served. It looks good here, but taste and quality is below, below, average. Also found it incredibly offensive that there were very obviously lots of 'older' men showing off their inappropriately dressed 'girlfriends'. Classless place.

Dined at Cyrus Meze Bar as part of a large group celebrating a friends birthday. It was an entertainment night so slightly more expensive for the set menu of starters, mixed grill and soft drink at £30 per head. We were seated by 8:30pm, our main course arrived at 11:50pm. The main entertainers came on stage past midnight. Dessert (fruit) was served at 1:10AM. The staff weren't particularly rude or inattentive, the problem was just the delay in food and complete disregard for guests who may not be staying till early morning. The whole restaurant is irritatingly dimly lit, AC kept going from freezing cold to switching off entirely. The food itself wasn't at all pleasant.

This is a great place for couples who want to dine and listen to Turkish Live Band. A fix menu consisting of traditional Cypriot kebabs and generous starters for around £20 per head without drinks. Starters consists of aubergine dips, humous, liver, cacik (cucumber, mint and yoghurt) dip, olives and koftes (meat balls). Mixed kebabs consists of lamb chops, chicken kebab, kofte. Rice and Turkish salad is served on side. Generous enough portions and great atmosphere. It tends to get very busy at weekends and live music runs through to early hours of the morning. Great place to dine with friends, but a little on the loud side for young children, not really suitable for young children, more for couples and groups. Drinks a little on the expensive side - single shot of famous grouse £6 and soft drinks are also above average.

I have been coming to Cyprus Meze for years. I used to love it, but tonight has made me never want to come back again. They told us it was going to be busy and to get there for 8pm sat. We arrived at 9pm and it was empty! Meze food / courses were being dished out so quickly (approx 2-3 minutes between courses). They used to have quality Turkish singers and decent belly dancers. Tonight we had a transvestite who sung completely out of tune and was so revolting, it made us want to leave before bringing up our food. I wanted to leave without paying. I will not be returning to this restaurant ever again.

Seeing as there are not successful entertainment restaurants out there... We have gathered that this is the best of the worst restaurants of its kind. The entertainment is fantastic... The Meze is ok and the food is nothing special. Shame that we were given main course at 12am.

Arrived 9pm with a party of 22. At first, disorganised and slow to serve drinks. Meze dishes plentiful and tasty, fruit very good. Entertainment authentic and to a high standard. The place was almost full with people out to enjoy themselves. Dance floor occupied almost continuously with young and old alike. The violinist was passionate and skillful. Camp singer was great fun. Left 2am happy and exhausted.

What can I say - over priced, under staffed and really unsatisfying. We arrived at what looked like the only open restaurant in the area at around 9pm on a Sunday night. I felt like I had gate crashed someone's big Turkish wedding and the service went from bad to worse as we were left waiting to be seated for some 10 minutes - even though the restaurant was far from busy (only two other tables occupied, one was the family and the other a little Polish couple still sat in their jackets waiting to be served). The food was horrendous - sloppy, mushy, bland, overly salty and just so disappointing when we were initially excited to have an authentic Cypriot meze. The only thing Cypriot about the experience was the bad service and crazy prices. The wine was bargain bucket stuff - and he gave us an already opened bottle and said he would only charge us for half a bottle. He only had two menus, and so we had to read from them for our friends. Please DO NOT GO HERE. It cost us £18 per head for a meze - as it turned out this was for the starters, mains were charged extra per dish. What a joke!! And, the toilets - they were not fit for humans - even my dog would have struggled to rise to the occasion in them. As a positive - the music was not too bad - but the violin player looked like he could drop dead at any moment had he got too excited at the fact he had a few customers.

Visited this restaurant on Saturday with friends, it was a large group and from the moment we arrived the service was simply brilliant; tables where rearranged to accommodate us, The table service was frequent but not over bearing. No issues with the food from any of that party, some had lamb some had chicken some had fish everything was perfect can't fault it. I had the bait fish for a starter and it was absolutely gorgeous my partner had the calamari and that too was soft and beautiful. Then after dinner and moments to chill the real fun started they had an authentic belly dancer who was absolutely beautiful and she did some crazy dancing with a sword and it was just entertaining the whole place got excited and loved it.
