A very fine modern cafe with a local vintage twist. We treated ourselves with latte and cannoli and they were splendid! One of a kind place to spend Sunday afternoon over a comforting cake and coffee. Looking forward to be back for a dinner!

The home-baked cakes and sweet pastries were very tasty.

My partner and I had our evening meal in Cuku yesterday - excellent menu - excellent food - great staff. The prices weren’t so bad either. The only thing that was missing was a bottle of craft ale from one of the many excellent Scottish brewers.

Nice cafe but if you're gonna charge top dollar for coffee then it should be well made. The staff are clearly not barista trained so just feels bit of a rip off.

Our first time visiting and we will definitely go back. Great service and a nice choice of food. Cuku also had a very pleasant atmosphere.

We were looking forward to trying this place as it looks cute, and is in a green/leafy location. Unfortunately we were left feeling very disappointed 😞 We found the staff to be unfriendly and unwelcoming and our drinks to be mediocre. You can experience much better service and drinks elsewhere nearby. We wouldn't revisit or recommend this place 😕

The food here is great and the staff are always friendly. I think the chick with pink hair is an absolute doll. She's never been anything but kind and helpful. My only (small) criticism is that the hot water for tea is never quite hot enough. But other than that, always a good experience here!

Had food here, It was quite nice. However, attitude of blonde server with short hair is terrible she was harassing a innocent customer and it looked personal and very targeted. Ruined the atmosphere for everyone dining there.

I visit Cuku regularly with my dog noodle - the staff are always lovely and welcoming and the food is always great! Having Cuku nearby is so handy for essential stuff like shampoo etc but also just such a lovely place for a snack or some great wine.

Ordered latte to go as was in hurry. Left standing there for 10 mins, they'd forgotten my order after i prompted them, no apologies from server guy, drove away, sipped drink, bloody luke warm, no time to return to complain. Staff generally blazey attitude, wont bother coming back, rather go to Greggs instead!

Went here on a Wednesday Afternoon. Was easy enough to find a seat. The food was great, but perhAps a bit pricey for the amount you receive. However they had a resident magician who entertained us with impressive slight of hand until our food/drinks came out. Made for a very entertaining midweek coffee.

Love this place for a lazy weekend coffee - sometimes add a delicious homemade focaccia or pastry if hungry. It was a cafe latte solo day on this Sunday. It’s a regular haunt of ours. It’s a lovely, chilled, friendly neighbourhood cafe, with a deli, and is totally dog friendly. A seat in the window, and a nice view on west end life as you sip your coffee and watch the world go by. Simply perfect ☕️❤️

What a lovely wee addition to Kirklee, we moved away from Glasgow 5 years ago and I don't think this was open then. I really enjoyed my Morton's roll, a Glasgow staple!

First time visitor, so good I went twice in one day. Morning coffee stop followed by lunch after meandering around the botanic gardens. Dog friendly, my gsd was made very welcome.

Quite a cute lil cafe that also has essential groceries. I go here mostly for the coffee and cakes and for an occasional snack. I highly recommend the coffee and Victoria sponge. The lemon cake is not for the faint hearted as it’s quite zesty but if that’s your preference, it’s a great one to try. They also carry really pretty flowers.

A good place for a coffee or lunch, the food is good and the deli has stock you definitely won't get in the supermarket.

As Cafe's go I have to give it 5 stars. The food was very nice. Service was good. The shop was mainly organic but seemed to also be some what eclectic in the items offered with every day consumables as well as the more artisan stuff. Had the soup and coffee both of which were nice. A good selection of cheeses to purchase and take away. Price was reasonable. Worth a visit.

Have been for brunch, lunch, dinner, and the occasional posh groceries. All are absolutely excellent, but have recently been for dinner for the first time and it more than exceeded my expectations!

I love this place. We live nearby and go when we can! Nice coffee, wine and food looks great. The sandwiches are fab and we often get some bits (I.e. pesto and pasta) to take home. Well worth a visit!

The last few times I've been now the coffee's been poor, either burnt or very watery. Have also generally found the staff to be unfriendly and disinterested.

The coffees are very bland and flavourless, the food can be good (some of the cakes, cheeses and deli selection), the staff is often amateurish. Given the hefty price of a slice of cake, it is very disappointing to be served a woefully thin, unevenly cut piece depending on the person who serves you. It would be fairer to sell it by the weight rather than depend on the whim of personnel. Returning home and opening the package to have a nasty surprise is not a pleasant experience and after a couple of disappointments, I am not keen to return.

Met a friend here for a last minute lunch over the weekend. The staff were so lovely and accommodating even though we hadn’t booked. The food was excellent with plenty of vegetarian options. We will definitely be back!

This is a little Italian inspired corner shop and cafè. It is directly in the West End at Great Western street and quite close to the Botanic Gardens. It is quite popular with locals and can get quickly busy. Parking can be tricky. There are places to sit outside and indoors. I saw many customers with dogs. The cafè has a menue but you can also order cakes and Danish, etc. at the counter. The shop has a lot of genuine Italian food like noodles, olive oil, etc. on display. There is also a selection of wine bottles. The selection of food you can get is very broad for such a small shop.

Have been in here for a coffee and sandwich a few times as there isn't many such places in the area. I find service usually to be very slow and coffees and sandwiches are usually decent but not great.

Service was ok but we didn’t get one of the drinks and was then told to get it ourselves. Furthermore, the Mac’s cheese was overcooked and the garlic bread was partly burnt. No cutlery given, had to ask for that . Won’t be back, very disappointing. When We were discussing our experience walking along the road, a gentleman asked if we were talking about Cuku and he too said he also had a bad experience and would not return!

In a word: disappointing. Looks like a nice place from the outside. Interiors are pleasant too. But staff were awful - rude, with an "I can't be bothered" attitude. I see I'm not the first reviewer to pick up on this. Really makes for an uncomfortable experience when you just want to sit down and enjoy a coffee. The staff attitude will lose you customers.

I really want to love this place, but I have sadly been dissappointed on every occasion I have visited. This has been mainly due to length of time waiting to be served or items not arriving after ordering. Today, I ordered the prawns and only discovered after eating one that they were RAW!!! This has definitely put me off returning again.

Excellent lunch - crispy salt beef brioche was particularly fab. Friendly service too. We need to come back in the evening....

We go often to Cuku and love the atmosphere. Happy to take the dog in and spend time for great coffee and excellent food. Today was a flat white and a bacon roll early Saturday morning. None of your nonsense bacon rolls this was fantastic! Always delightful staff who couldn’t be more helpful. If you go the canolis, focaccia sandwiches, cakes and coffee are absolutely marvellous. The deli has some unusual wine, port and even some top alcohol free beer.

I'm really liking Cuku. Popped in on Saturday and had great food (salt beef) served by a lovely waitress. Enjoy bringing my dog here too - she gets lots of love!

I really like the idea of local coffee shop nearby. However, staff need training in customer service. No warm welcome or smile and made to feel as if we were really an inconvenience and a chore! I will not be returning in the near future!

Booked a table for dinner last Friday. Good selection of drinks on offer and the food was delicious. Nice, relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy the evening. Special thanks to Euan for your helpful suggestions from the menu. This was my first visit to CuKu and I certainly will return.

Wow! I’m not even surprised— I wanted to love Cuku but after 4+ times visiting the staff completely put me off ever going back. Coffee is okay, really liked to pop by for a snack/pastry but after multiple encounters with one member of staff— I actually will never go back. She made me feel like a total inconvenience and it was extremely souring experience.

Rude. That’s all I’ll say for fear of being ambushed and forced to change my review, as I witnessed being done to someone in the store yesterday.

A clearly very tightly knit team, I would recommend to a friend and now feel lucky to have this place so close by. I was met with a big welcome today, Rosanna (apologies if I’ve spelt that wrong) is an asset to the team. So is the young staff member who was with her, I really enjoyed talking today, thanks for your time. Also a fantastic wine selection😉

A fantastically located deli/market hybrid with a range of options morning, noon and night. My main issue with this great regular stop off on the trip home is the service. Is it table? is it counter? or is it interchangeable depending on time of day/staff available? An easy fix would be digital order at table for those outside with their bikes etc. or putting on a waiter/waitress who gathers orders while others deliver. Having now sat here for 15 minutes unattended, I’ve given up on any lunch heading my way today, but that doesn’t change the fantastic food on offer which makes up the body of this reviews star rating. Hopefully will be fixed as this new local grows and evolves. + outdoor seating is ideal in good weather + easily accessible + location + great menu - service UPDATE after approaching the staff about ordering after 30 minutes, and pointing out I had been sat waiting and was keen to eat on my lunch break, I was met with nothing but contempt, and have revised my review to reflect the lack of interest in customer experience by the team.

Love this little cafe I lived in in Kirklee Gardens about 18 years ago when it was just a trailer there. Love stopping my on my visits alter a walk in the Botanic Gardens. Is it the same owner?

Good experience and the staff was friendly enough. Had couple of drinks and a plain cheese pizza- Margherita.

The place looks really nice however the food was very bad. we ordered the Margherita pizza which looked awful and full of oil, the baked eggs werrn't good as well. In general bad food quality and bad presentation. I won't go back again but I hope they improve the food and the services as it is in a very nice area.

Expensive indeed...but good for chilling but obviously not for meal...cheers

Yesterday, on a lovely sunny Monday afternoon, my husband and I popped into Cuku for a bite of lunch. It was our first visit and we were very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the salt beef, which I have to say was fabulous and my husband had the lamb ragu which he also enjoyed. We had a nice bottle of organic wine from Cuku, which we also enjoyed along with our lunch. Service was very friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our lunch there and will most definitely be back.

I have been visiting Cuku regularly since it opened. Positive - It is a brilliant addition to the area. It looks lovely and has an interesting selection of snacks/wine and beers. - Anytime I've had food it's been lovely, I particularly enjoyed the chicken skewers. Negative - The quality of breakfast rolls/produce. The sausage was poor quality and dry and the potato scone was rock hard. Could you use better local produce? Pastries and Cakes - Anytime I've purchased anything baked - Victoria sponge, pain au chocolate, a croissant, a Copenhagen, they have been dry, lacking in flavour and in some cases over baked. (you can tell by the colour of the the baked goods) I would no longer purchase any baked goods if I'm in. There are so many brilliant little independent bakeries out there who I'm sure could supply much more flavoursome, interesting cakes and pastries. You could also improve the ambiance with some better background music rather than the lift like music that is normally played. It's a great wee spot and just needs a few improvements.

Friendly & attentive staff, well managed. You can get just a cuppa or a full blown dinner. Well stocked with delicious deli products and a good range of wines. Excellent café avec un personnel sympathiqus et attentionné. A 2 pas du jardin botanique, venez vous réchauffer avec une boisson chaud ou un excellent déjeuner.

Come here often and have always enjoyed the food and had great service! Staff work very hard and it would be nice if more people appreciated that there is a shortage in hospitality staff at the moment, they should be treated with kindness and understanding.

I have been to Cuku on many occasions; around once per week since opening. The food & drink is constantly good. However, the lack of warmth and sneering attitude of some of the core/FT staff is unacceptable. There is no way I would sustain employment of these members, as they are impacting the return-rate of customers; this runs as a clear througline in the reviews. On the occasion that I am served by some of the younger part-time staff, I have a welcoming and enjoyable experience - so it is possible. Today was a perfect example, the server, mid-30s+ with dark/reddish hair, heavily applied, pale-toned make-up; I’ve been served by her many times, I have never experienced a glimmer of warmth or polite dealings. This attitude is pervasive in other full-time staff; this creates a tense and awkward atmosphere as other customers are cognisant of it. While good, I have not experienced such a pervasive bad attitude in any other local coffee shop; so what’s the incentive to return?

Popped for a Friday evening dinner. Usual super quality food with fresh ingredients. Lovely staff too.

This is an attractive wee cafe/deli. I’ve been a few times and could happily have become a regular. Unfortunately on my fourth visit I was introducing a friend but both the lemon cake she ordered and the attitude of and staff were dreadful. I thought it was important to share feedback with management because I hoped it would help them to improve. I sent a lengthy email outlining our experience but didn’t even get an acknowledgment let alone an apology. Looking though the reviews on here I see that other people have had similar experiences with the attitude of the staff - such a shame!

GREAT ADDITION TO THE AREA Situated in a good location, this is a smart looking eatery with quite an extensive and varied menu. I've eaten here a few times and never been disappointed. My last visit was during extremely cold weather and my choice of the soup and a sandwich SO tasty and well received. The pricing/ quality ratio is fine too. Worth a visit

Such a lovely new place! Thrilled they have 0% wines and drinks, you never see such great options! Already been for breakfast, lunch and a cheese board since they opened and just love the place! Nowhere like it in the neighbourhood :)

Tasty coffee, however the staff attitude towards some of their clientele soured my experience there. Feels as if repeated custom is unwelcome in this establishment.

A great addition to the local area, it's been crying out for a little cafe/convenience store for years. Great selection of interesting wine/beer/cider and always lovely baked goods and cakes on display. I've sat in on a few occasions for lunch and it's been good, soup and chicken skewers both being lovely. Dog friendly also.

i live a 2 min walk from cuku, and like others was very excited when it opened. sadly i have to echo the comments regarding for me a particular member of staff who is rude and dismissive with an i’ll judged superiority complex. This is my third bad experience with her and so will not be back. Today i told her that she was rude and instead of an apology i got an argument - such a shame.

A lovely new coffee shop at the end of our road. Food and coffee brilliant. Unfortunately the lady working at the till was markedly unfriendly, dismissive and would probably put me off coming back again.

Pretentious as hell, and super expensive. staff seemed slightly rude but suit the type of establishment. Coffee was far too hot, but food is nice.

Been here three times in the last month. Friendly staff, food is good but every time I ask for a pot of tea, it's cold. I then ask for hot water telling them the tea is cold, they bring a pot of water which at best is tepid, never hot!. Someone needs to look at the hot water urn!. I probably won't come back purely because of this. Shame because otherwise it's a nice place.

I was initially very worried when we lost the wee shop on the corner, but have been really pleasantly surprised! A great selection of products, including interesting wine and cheese. The bakery items are fab, and the staff are really very wonderful. It could be seen as a bit expensive, but it really is quite reasonable for the quality of the produce.

Superb deli/ coffee shop and a fantastic addition to the West End. Opens early for breakfast, definitely a major plus. Great selection of Deli products and excellent eat in or take away foods throughout the day and evening. Bright, warm, stylish and well run.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and much preferred coming here for breakfast. The food is really good and reasonably priced. They've also got a very good selection of wines and other bits.

A wonderful new place with strong promise for the area. Food is generally adventurous and appealing although pricing and sizing is all over the place with small plates priced as large plates but some large plates being smaller than the small ones. I'll put it down to newness but they'll want to fix that. Really really liked the artichoke plate and the choice of drinks. And the small Deli shop element which is interesting and acceptably priced. Will be back and hoping to nudge that star up.

New cafe Deli with interesting stock. Usually busy which is a good sign. Only had an espresso which was very good.

I didn't feel particularly welcome when I visited and my interaction was with someone who appeared to be more experienced than the other person serving. I do my best to shop local and support new businesses - even if they are a bit more expensive than other options - but the team here need to work on customer service fundamentals.
