What a letdown first a sign on the counter that says prices vary ask the staff,paid over the menu price list for the worst takeaway I've had the chicken was pink when cut into,the keema with peas was like a baby's nappy just mush with no peas,the nan was under cooked, It went from plate to the bin, hopefully I'm not going to be ill tonight??

I ordered a large donner kebab and got it home and opened it and you could fit that amount of meat in a pitta bread and at £4.50 you can stick it where the sun don't shine I won't ever be coming back there again

I order a chicken donner and told them that I want it from the machine because it looked yummy spinning around and just right and told O.K and 5 min later gave my order so I told them that I never saw anyone slice the chicken and they said we took it from the silver container but I never even saw them going into that.So I came home and started to eat and the taste was rightish but cardboard hard wat they did was give me old meat and warmed it up in the microwave the teps. NEVER AGAIN..THEY MUST THINK EVERYONE IS DER DER

I don’t usually name and shame businesses, but on this occasion I have to. I bought 4 chuppaties for my kids from Cokoos on Milkstone road today and paid £2. As kids were going to eat them. Luckily I spotted a black mark on one of the chuppaties at a closer look it was a burnt fly. I could have dealt this in a different way but due to the nature of this I had to name and shame them. With all due respect I called them for a complaint the staff answered by saying that I was speaking lies to them because their kitchen was closed. What a load of lies at 5.30pm I placed an order evidence is attached.

When it was new it was nice now they have mangoes imports on front and kitchen no smile or greetings not even a single simple hi. They look mean pissed off workers and the food is horrible and hard left overs. No wonder its empty wen ever I've been but seen the odd Charlie ordering but not sitting inside the nasty hole.

If u know wat ur eating and how it should be in flavour and texture then its not all that a sh.. place really all food is hard left over stock from cash carry that they own door I mean out of date ingredients and they use it as ingredients to cook because food is off.

I have used this place on numerous occasions partly down to the owners but the problem is that they are never on site and they have a manager (of sorts) to run this place. I honestly liked the food originally and was happy to use, until I had the first complaint. Since then i have had lots of issues and then tonight was the last straw.I just spent £18 on a take out that took over 45 minutes when it was only supposed to take 25 minutes and then when I got home turned out to be all rubbish.It's all in the bin now. I have work early so gone to be without, totally ruined our evening on New year's day. I heard my wife complain on the phone but it's like they have done us a favour. Apparently have offered to replace the meal but she said she can't go back tonight. I personally don't want it, don't want their food, don't want them to make out they are giving me something for nothing. Plenty of other takeaways in Rochdale just as good and cleaner.

Fresh Chicken Donner is awesome and probably one of the best I have ever tasted from here and I would definitely recommend this. Everything else was just standard. Could do with a good scrub down from top to bottom and maybe a lick of paint.Staff are ok. Just a standard takeaway diner but with the tastiest chicken donner. Would go back just for the Chickem Donner but that’s about all.

Went to cuckoo in leeds. Fran, legend. Wicked backwards cap. Awsome T shirt. Banging tunes she had on. Absolutely unbelievable. Propper mint drinks. Service with a smile. Fran you’re a legend.

I have ordered from here many times over a year ago.... I remember the food being nice however on this occasion I was very disappointed with the food. I had ordered a special mixed kebab, after waiting 10 minutes I was told if I want seek kebab which is a part of what I ordered I would have to wait 10 mins longer... so they offered me chicken tikka or wings instead. I asked for cake instead of which they agreed to. I was with a toddler and just wanted to get home at this point. When I hog home the chips were either extra well done or re-fried and the mixes kebab wasn't a good standard. The chicken tikka pieces were dry and tasted like they were from the night before but definitely not fresh, and the lamb tikka were dry and salty and tasted old too... the dinner was fine and the naan was fine. Salad smelt rotten. To be honest I was disappointed and will not return again.

Decent enough starters, such as seekh and shami kebabs. Traditional Pakistani dishes - Nihari & Haleem dishes were a disappointment. Don't expect a smile, happy to take your money though!

Nice place to take family for meal, but they do make you wait for food and music is a little loud and drinks on the expensive side.

One of workers who served me some sauce thanked and smiled at me and he got told of not to be so nice or greet customers?Been going here for years won't be going again at all the food is average just close by and convenient

Ordered a decent kebab tonight from here but the guy that served me was just plain rude. A mixed kebab gets either chips rice or Naan Bread I wasn't even asked what my preference would be. Also not asked what sauce would I like and he spent the majority of the time on his mobile. Shame really as the food was decent. I won't be returning

Among tens of takeaways in Rochdale/Oldham area, Cuckoos is always busy from opening time till close down. It serves Typical Asian grill/ curry food but with a very high standard. Place looks run down and this adds to the charm but cleanliness and quality is one of the highest. Their food is on the spicy side even when it is mild it is still spicy. We are there at least once a week for the last 3 years and we have never had a problem neither with the food or the hygiene, something rare especially if you look at their prices (quite cheap) and portions (very generous).Try their fried fish. It is a special treat that you will not find anywhere. Also, chicken doner and their Bhundi (okra) are unique. But the whole menu is worth trying. We are never disappointed in anything we tried whether it is grilled platters or currys.

Now and again I have a craving to visit Cuckoos... simply because the food is nice and the nans are great. -- Always best to get the nice mild sauce as the chilli sauce is exactly what it is - chilli. -- The best time to visit is between 5pm n 7pm where you can get meals cheap. You can take out as well as eat in, downstairs or upstairs. -- The staff are normally friendly, it's been a one off where there was a fella who was big-headed, but that's because Zahid's bro wasn't around and yes it's owned by Worldwide Cash n Carry next door... so if you do have an issue; the managements round the corner :-)You can also buy decent cakes; I tend to buy for birthdays as you get one for ten and two for 18. Decent choice too - carrot, various chocolate, sponge, cream etc.. --The reason for my three is that I more than once a week have a take-away and unfortunately they don't deliver - why o why???On one or two occasions when I have placed my order, the drink has been missed out. It's not worth me going back for a can and no one can deliver either however they have said that next time I order I should get my drink; so I'll be ordering soon and hope they stick to their word.-- Hope you all benefit from the plusses I have mentioned above.

The food for the price is very good. Quick and easy grilled food with a good range of currys. The staff walk around with a face like a slapped backside and are very arrogant.There is not much seating room and very crammed. On the plus side the shami kebab are the bast in town.

Reviewed many times bit rough n ready sometimes full of young lads and the guy on the till miserable as hell .. But the food for the price is perfect.Chicken Donna spicey succulent and £1... Total value for money always full of local Asians so they should know good currys etc...

Firstly the order was mixed up! We came all the way from Oldham and when we opened our food the food was cold and dry, they didn't provide the sauces we asked for. Also there was hair in the chicken, when we called to complain the guy on the phone was extremely rude and claimed they all wore hair nets when clearly they didn't !! They didn't even apologise and were very argumentative. Worst customer service skill ever. Wouldn't recommend at all this place should be shut down!

This is my family,s favorite eaterie.To outward appearances it doesnt look plush but I & my children have eaten here literally 100s of times-Both in & takeaway & despite reading some comments on here-we have never ever had an upset stomach.THe food is freshly prepared & I would trust it 100%.The staff are very helpful .It is basically street food without the centre of Manchester " Street food" prices .

when it opened it doors i was first to book a party for my family. since then the food has always been great BUT the price. the price on food has gone up.

Quick and easy grilled skewers.... Full of flavour comes with mixed salad and sauces.. Chicken was cooked beautifully....Don't expect a posh restaurant , it's a cafe environment... Fast food on the go all prepared on site..

This place needs to be inspected by the health and safety and it should get closed down, stay clear as an upset stomach will be on your way if you dont

I have been here various times however after seeing their disgusting low hygiene rating from Rochdale council I will never set foot in this establishment again.

Im a regular here. It can get very very busy. Food is cooked well and they sell on the mass scale. It is cooked quickly and they present it great. However it must be said it can be a bit bland. Kebabs and chicken should be a bit spicier and have more masala. The chutney again tastes bland. There is room for improvement but overall a good restaurant. Staff could be a bit more friendlier at times but they are always busy.

I have visited cuckoos many times with friends and family. I must say it is one of my favourite places to eat in Rochdale. The food speaks for itself the mix grills are amazing full of flavour and comes out on a charcoal round plate sizzling and hot ready to eat! The grill is enough for a few people I've shared it with 3 with some naan. The Haleem and paya is loved by a lot of family I absolutely love the Haleem sooo delish with naan! Very fresh food which is what you want. However the decoration and cleanliness lacks greatly so they do need to work on that. Also if you are to visit parking is always difficult around that area as it is busy just to be aware. Overall I would continue to eat there as the food is always on point!

Came here after visiting family. Mix grill was lovely and staff friendly and attentive. It's authentic food and great value for money. Will be back on next visit.

Went with my wife and kids. Was seated upstairs. Hot, stuffy and smelly. Table was greasy and food was very very average. To top it off all family were ill the day after. Not what I was expecting. Dissapointing

There is a quieter resturant part upstairs but we prefer the hussle and bussle of downstairs which is a no frills formica tables but spotlessly clean cafe. The food is excellent i adore the kebab on buttered 'freshly made' nan and put the complimentary salad and sauce in it. I also love the lamb karai but have tried a number of dishes and have never been dissapointed. My husband has eaten at Al Faizel on Thomas St Manchester and another cafe in the warehouse district off Cheetham Street for 20 or so years and to his delight Cuckoos make what is normally a once a week item Nahari (please excuse if spelt wrong), all the time. He has worked through the menu and found lots of new favorites. Everything is fresh, good value and has a home made taste. Cuckoos can get really busy its best to decide on what you want and place your order at the till. We normally go straight from work there is plenty of.parking round the corner to the right side of the street by the train station. The owner is.passionate about tbusiness and ensures everything is kept to a high standard. My only niggle is its on a windy corner and when the door opens its cold and could do with a hot air curtain. Ive taken colleagues and family to cuckoos and never been dissapointed go and try some authentic tasty food soon Cuckoos is a gem.of a place and if the reporters from the Guardian world food section found it you would'nt be suprised!

Me and my partner live very close to milestone road and enjoy a good curry, we have our favourite places, but we try to try other places as there's so much choice. We got chicken kebabs from cuckoos one evening, the service was bad, we were made to feel like we weren't welcome because we were initially indecisive. we got the food to go rather than simplyeating in as we felt quite awkward. The food was okay in terms of taste, a little dry. Unfortunately both myself and my partner were unwell the following day. I wouldn't recommend cuckoos to anyone.

The platter was amazing, wish too big, unbelievable value. Excellent masala fish, only Bangladeshis know how to cook fish this way. Very busy place, glad to see these boys are flying the green and red flag high.

No food in the area better.If with your family go upstairs as quiet away from constant flow of takeaway orders going in and out.If you want to know the secret of an excellent Indian/ Pakistani curry house go where Asians go and eat!

Nice friendly environment - no frills - good prices and a little different..turns into a cocktail bar in the evening, and they do my favorite !!

My wife and i use Cuckoos often as the food is cooked to order and as the owner has a food store next door everything is fresh,You can see your food being prepared . this is Asian food at it's best . meals start at £1.99 to £11.00 . i have never seen any 1 person finish the later .1 whole chicken for £5 or 2 for £8 all cooked in spices . If you dont see it on the menu just ask the staff and they will cook whatever you want however you want it . It is NOT the average takeaway/Restaurant . you will not be dissapointed here . it is air conditioned . and party's are catered for, you can also book a reservation.. I go here quite a lot and I agree the customer service is a bit lacking but to be honest its more of a takeaway and the more times you go the better the service gets as they get to know you.Food is excellent and there are plenty of offers for early diners (4-6).I have even eaten and gone to pay and the card reader was not working. No problem said the boss - drop it off later!!!

Have eaten in here several times. The waiters seem to attend to their friends before they deal with non-Asian people. I do not want to sound racist (because I am not) but white people can be invisible to waiting staff. The food is fantastic though. Excellent value for money. I just wish that customer service was improved

Nice hybrid cafe/restaurant pretending to be a restaurant ....it's food is good and great value. But the service is terrible, unprofessional and generally comes across as seriously unorganised almost in chaos..The restaurant is ok in summer but freezing in winter...avoid! The parking is on the road and busy times can be hard to find......it's a real shame myself and family like the food and price but hate the service which get orders wrong and how long it takes to get the food.......it has potential.

The food here is super fresh and made in front of you, eaten many times and impressed by the quality of the food. I suppose the meat should be fresh as the same owners own the large food cash and carry next door.Authentic Pakistani food which is awesome. Best one in the local area as can be seen by the large numbers of local Asians who eat here as they rate the food too... Always an excellent sign if local Asians eat at a take away instead of eating at home that's the best guarantee for me . When abroad I also eat were the locals eat not tourists do the same. In the UK and you won't go wrong. I usually avoid so called Indians that are only frequented by drunken Friday night groups as they will eat anything. This place is full during the day and night and not a drunk in sight just fill who want to eat proper food. Go once you won't be dissapointed. If it's busy downstairs go upstairs and they will come to you. This place is how a curry should be not like my previous experience in Wigan which was hell !

I use this for great value kebabs and good curries its a takeaway with tables to sit in and if you want al a carte it's not for you but if you want good value food well prepared you can't go wrong

The food here is absolutely fantastic.Authentic Pakistani cuisine.Great for takeout's but does work well as a restaurant and is usually busy. The staff don't speak great English (depending on the day you go) and could do with some customer service training however timing and food quality make up for that. Average prices.

I am Arab by ethnicity, but do enjoy the odd curry now and again. And I enjoy it most when it tastes as if home-made I was treated to a chicken and lamb karahi as a mains with fantastic buttered naan bread. I did not leave one bit of curry. The starter, which ws a mixed sizzler grill, was also very nice, a bit too spicy for my liking, bbut excellent quality nonetheless. Hope to visit again. My friend and I had the sizzler for two, karahi for two with plenty of naan, 3 soft drinks and 2 cups of chai tea for only £20!
