Walked up the hill to this place which had been recommended but no sign of life. According to Google and sign on the door it should’ve been open but it wasn’t. At least we got some steps in. This was on Wednesday at 1600

Fantastic old pub with some decent cask ales

Lovely pub with great drinks on tap. This visit was with guest street food van serving Yorkshire pudding wraps - spot on Sunday food.

Very enjoyable evening (Sunday). Was quite busy but still plenty of room to sit down. Hosts and staff are very friendly and welcoming. They have carried on, from covid, doing table service as that is what the regulars wanted. They are very attentive and so you never have to wait for a drink. There is a very friendly atmosphere and we had a lovely time.

Went in here a while back the main thing I remember is how amazing the atmosphere was it was a cold night outside very warm and festive inside. Can’t remember much more but I enjoyed myself.

Great atmosphere friendly people. Staff are cheerful and helpful there is a good range of real ales and lovely rums 👍 the pub and bathrooms are always clean and tidy can't fault this pub.

It's nice to see a pub busy these days, this place gets a few in on a Friday night and for good reason. So many pubs started to shift their focus too far towards food and suffered for it, I like that this pub does the basics extremely well and keeps it's standards up. There are always plenty of ales on offer and they refresh their line up regularly, always without impacting upon the quality of what they offer. I think of this place as somewhere that leans more to the traditional image of a pub. It's layout and decor conform to that without being run down, it preserves what many feel a pub should be; homely, welcoming and comfortable. This place is hidden gem, at least to those who dont live locally. Having moved to Kidsgrove recently i'm really pleased this place is on my doorstep, i'm just sad I didn't find out about it sooner!

No pool table no TV no sport no jukebox no live music no pub quiz the music they do play sounds like the crappy music they play in the supermarkets and you have to watch your language if you swear once they threaten to bar you this place is really boring and slowly going downhill. You would do better going to the Plough down the road for a really good time.

Been in a few times now and this is a vibrant friendly pub with a good selection of ales to go at. Love the almost "Cheers" like atmosphere and the fact I can take my dog inside. Friendly staff, friendly patrons. Will be back again soon.

Nice pub and a good variety of larger, ales, gins etc...However, myself and a group of friends didn't enjoy our most recent visit. Pub was relatively quiet and we had a table at the back with a view of the television. We asked for the England v Netherlands game on as we were the only people sat there at the time, to be told we couldn't have it on. With no real explanation for it, we finished our drinks and moved on.

Nicely kept pub with six or seven well kept cask-conditioned ales on tap. Sparklers on the taps, but cheerfully taken off if you ask.
