Went there with friends, great service staff were very knowledgeable and friendly.

Fantastic curry! Definitely the best in Newcastle and will order from here again. Big portions with large chunks of meat and tasty nann breads. 5*

I chose to dine at this Indian restaurant due to its proximity to where I was staying. The mixed grill platter was delightful, featuring juicy and tender selections. For the main course, I enjoyed the chicken tikka biryani, which was served with a vegetable curry on the side — both were exceptional, earning a perfect score of 10 out of 10. The condiments were pleasantly sweet. They accept both card and cash payments. Overall, the food was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Visiting a friend who insisted we have dinner here. Lovely choice it was. From the street it's rather unimposing. Once inside the decor inside is a pleasant surprise. Quite upscale. The service was on point one would expect from a higher level of dining. Our starters was a paneer tikka and along with Afghan chana nasala with Puri. Quite tasty. The heat was on the mild side . It may be tailored to local tastes. As even the mains were not particularly spicy. Don't get me wrong... It was very flavourful. For the mains we had Goan chicken curry and Kohari lamb with a side of fish biryani. I was a bit surprised a place this swanky did not serve the rice in it's traditional clay pot. The chicken was moist which I can't fully say about the lamb. good thing the flavours saved the day. I really enjoyed the fish in the biryani. My friends really were impressed with the food. And we all walked out very satisfied.

Amazing food & service is brilliant.

Worst experience ever. Ordered drinks and poppadoms, 10 mins in I got an emergency call and had to leave. Asked the manager for the bill for what we had and he was persistent on embarrassing me infront of other diners saying I've wasted his time because I didn't order a meal! It was so unprofessional. I would expect the restaurant to understand I had to leave. There are far too many nice restaurants to go to so your standards of staff need to be alot higher for you to be successful. Very poor service, would never recommend, stay well clear of this place!

Came up to North Staffordshire for the wedding of good friends. We had a Friday evening stroll around the town looking what was on offer. We ended up choosing Basmati. Firstly how wonderful to see a curry restaurant offering a lot that was different to the normal menus one finds. My wife and I both tried things we'd never heard of. Both meals were awesome. If back in N-u-L overnight again we'll try something else off the menu.

Good value food, never had a bad meal.

The food was superb. The waiting staff did a fantastic job getting the food to our table as there was at least 18 of us. We had the 3 course banquet and there was plenty to choose from. I ended up leaving some as I was full up. They packed it away for me to take away. It accepts cash or card payments but I was told that I had to spend over £7 for a card payment. Then my friend was told £10 minimum on card and then another from our table was told minimum for card payment was £12 ????. I understand that bank charges are being made but can you please state the correct minimum amount to avoid confusion. Apart from that, the service, the food and atmosphere were top notch. I will certainly come again. Thank you for a fabulous evening.

This is my favourite place to go for a curry. The whole experience from when you walk in through the door until you leave is amazing. The staff are very attentive, food is so tasty! Will hopefully be back very soon 😋

Great place food is fantastic and choice is great we went for the banquet option great value, this is my second visit and hasn't disappointed, we will definitely be returning, the only thing I will say to them is you need to respond to online bookings so there is no confusion over the booking

Nice food and reasonably priced.

A lovely meal and I was part of a party of 15 and all our meals were served at the same time.

It was our first time, and we really enjoyed it! From when I rang to book a table, Saheed was very polite and professional. And when we arrived, he served us so well - making sure everything was okay. Other staff members were helpful and kind as well. Food was delicious, it was saagwala but didn't like the lamb! Also one suggestion is, it would have been nice to be greeted by staff at the reception when we arrived, as we didn't know where to go and what to do! It felt like we were being ignored, so after standing for a few minutes without any acknowledgement, we had to go to them and say we booked a table over the phone.

Fantastic food and a lovely restaurant. Only complaint was the service was slow and we had to go to the bar to ask for the bill.

One of the best curry places I have been so far, the place, the food itself, the staff, everything it was just spotless and faultless for us tonight. The place itself its very new, clean, with a good atmosphere on, nice decor overall. Staff very friendly and not annoying like in other places and very engaging. The food, wow, they have this offer on for £18 for poppadom, one starter and a curry, which is absolutely a lot of food at this decent price, but the taste itself also very very flavourful, naan bread very fluffy too. Good sizes in all the portions. Definitely it’s one of our favourite now and will come back with a pleasure. Good variety of drinks too.

Went on New Year's eve the food was absolutely brilliant. Service a little slow we waited quite a while to order food but this was expected due to it being New Year. We will be going back soon.

Beautiful restaurant and highly motivated staff. Food delicious and great value for money. We chose off the set menu so had x 3 courses for £18.99 including naan bread and rice, plus starters and desert. Would highly recommend and I will certainly be returning here. Busy restaurant so best to book in advance. Definately 5 stars from me!

Friendly and efficient service, great atmosphere and really busy for an early Sunday evening. We each had different chicken curry based dishes and shared them including lovely pilau rice and garlic naan. Cracking poppadoms and dips too. Excellent service and food, we will return.

THIS PLACE WAS SO GOOD...ahem, sorry for caps. I'm not massively into Indian cuisine, never know what to order but I booked this for partners birthday who loves this and spicy food in general. The place itself was lovely, clean, busy but it didn't feel like the staff were overwhelmed with the amount of people there. I chose things I thought I would like based on the explanations on the menu and asked the waiter for clarification and recommendations. Our starters were phenomenal, so much flavour and presented very well. Curry up next, we had a curry each and the staff warned my partner that it was spicy which was appreciated but ordered it anyway and he said he's never had a curry almost bring a tear to his eye but this one did but in a way which was flavour forward and not like some curries which are just hot but bland. He said it was the best curry he's ever had. Mine was incredible too so much flavour, sweet and went very well with our naan breads. Even with the amount of people in the place, we weren't waiting long for the food, the place just runs smooth. Everything was absolutely perfect and this gets an easy 5* - both of us said we would go again, it even makes me more interested in Indian cuisine.

Absolutely amazing was mine and my girlfriends 2nd anniversary . Food was amazing , service was quick always a waiter on hand when you needed anything . Drinks and extras was brought to the table soon after we ordered them . Really nice relaxed atmosphere could not have asked for a better night out . Massive thank you to Ali he really made our evening feel special .

I now visited this restaurant twice in preference to our old favourites in Stoke, and I like it. Very comfortable restaurant with excellent air con (28° outside) so was needed. The restaurant is licensed and serves a good pint of Cobra, the food is good with some nice service. Will definitely go again and explore the menu a bit more.

Been a while since had a curry from the Basmati and usually its a 5 out 5, however ordered a takeaway and it was only when I got it home that I was missing Mango chutney and a poppadom is not the same without that and then went to dish my main and realised the pilau rice was also missing, which again ruined the whe experience. Such a shame, hopefully just a blip.

Cozy restaurant with good impressions! Extremely polite and friendly hosts, beautiful and comfortable atmosphere, great food presentation, menu with many choices for non-veg, veg and vegans too. The only downside was they took nearly an hour and a half to prepare food, but the food was worth the wait. I highly recommend to everyone!

We’ve used this curry house for forever. We moved home a few years ago so tried many others in the vicinity but they never were half as good and we always went back to Basmati. Delivery mostly and it’s always on time,hot and tasty,with friendly courier service. I honestly cannot recommend enough.

Amazing place! The wife and I have used this place for many years and most recently we had an outing here with some friends who all really enjoyed this too. We've taken the kids as well here a couple of times and we have had several takeaways since also... Everything we have had has been amazing and has been of the best quality... The staff, can I say, are the most tentative and most polite team I have ever come across in any restaurant! I really really do rate this place and I have never ever had a bad meal or ever had bad service here. Perfect experience all round and highly recommended 👍

The tables are a bit too close together for my liking especially if you get a noisy crowd next to your table. The waiters appeared to lack training, the tandoori chicken was overcooked and the curries were runny. The rest of the the meal was acceptable but all things considered it was probably overpriced.

3 of us went there on a Friday and the food was absolutely lovely. I had a lamb biryani with vegetable curry. My friends had another curry and sizzling meats with garlic rice etc. The service and staff were wonderful and the restaurant, although busy, had a great atmosphere. My friend and I went back on Sunday evening as it had been so good and although it was a lot quieter the food and experience were the same. I was visiting friends and dont live near, but I will visit the Basmati Restaurant when lI am here.

Very good food and efficient service.

Enjoyed the food, service was fairly quick and didn't take long for it to arrive. Standard size portions. We sat in the quieter area near to the entrance, which was good for us. Would recommend you try it.

Went for the £50 xmas dinner. As a vegetarian I had the pick of the cheapest dishes. That's fine but it annoyed me that they charged me extra for a nan as I asked for rice as well. My meal was less than half the price of some of the meat mains. The ice cream desert was poor, ice cream was full of ice crystals like it had been thawed then re frozen. We've been for xmas dinner a few times but we won't be again.

On a very busy Xmas Eve the food and service were impeccable. Plenty of staff to keep everyone happy, will definitely return!

Ordered takeaway from here recently as they had a very good deal. 4 Starters, 4 Mains, 2 Sides, 2 Rice & 2 Nan for £55 with poppadoms. Gorgeous food and great value. We were only able to eat half of our mains due to the shear amount of food but that was brilliant as we can save that for another day. Will continue to return here!
