Delicious food varied menu Service was excellent Heather was very polite helpful and friendly even though she was very busy

eaten here before reviewed before and just came out for a couples lunch. We wanted a light lunch and were served with a full dinner size meal. (scampi and Lasagne). No complaints there. Always see mention of the front of house staff so this is a thank you to Diana and Josie who you do not see slaving over the stoves. so guys send your appreciation to the kitchen as well.

Went in last night and was served by two girls didn’t catch they’re names but they were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed! Decorations were amazing for Halloween I will be back for the party

Had a lovely lunch and drink with mates last Monday, food was good and quick ,2 coures for £16 .50 ,with a cask ale for £3.55 what's not too like .Great service by the chatty Heather ,always up for a laugh.The pub is comfortable and friendly.

Exceptional service and I rate as a hospitality manager 5*. The bar lady George was lovely and i appreciate her patience when food was unavailable and I had to keep checking with my mum outside whom was from Australia. Coping with the large bar line of people waiting. Polite and I'm quiet frankly surprised she dealt with pressure I returned from my lovely visit only a few days ago. I will continue to come from Chingford as the team are tops. Few pubs I like locally

Went with a group of friends after a lovely visit in May to watch the football final. Great atmosphere in the pub and super food, again. Even though it was very busy, the staff were fantastic and the fabulous Heather was working which made the visit even more pleasurable. She really does put in 100% into her customers. Thank you to everyone and even though we didnt win the game, it was a lovely afternoon/evening.

We visited for lunch. 3 of us 2 vegetarians and 1 non veggie. The vegetarian options were good and the non veggie was well catered for. 2 courses each plus drinks came to £80. Food was very good and service excellent. Good range of real ales.

Met u with a friend for a catch up and dinner. To be honest the food was awful, the presentation was dire and we both had upset tummies the next day. We sat in the beer garden after our meal and watched the barman fill up the cutlery containers, this is left uncovered with all the sauces all night!! The bar staff are really nice, really friendly. The food part of this pub really needs to have some love put into it!!!

We’ve been here many times over the years and even rented it out for private functions - never coming back again. Sunny Thursday and they have two members of staff on shift - both miserable. Asked one if we can order through the app and we treated as if we were idiots and she said ‘of course’. 20 minutes later, no drinks. Go to the bar and there’s one member of staff while the other is just pottering around. Ages to get a drink at the bar and the person serving being very short with customers. In the end my partner went in, showed we had paid on the app and just asked for the drinks. Even then they were aggy with us - although we’d already paid and she had told me ‘yeah it’s going to take ages’ before we approached her. The woman who then patronised us for asking about ordering through the app, said it was our fault for ordering through the app and not to do it again. Our food arrives and two children have three course meals. Kids are eating the starters and then she brings out a desert. We say it’s too early and she blamed us for ordering through the app - we ordered the food at the bar… She then stood then and just ‘well, are you going to take it anyway?’, to which we did to avoid the whole awkward episode. But obviously it was ruined by the time the children could actually eat. It’s a shame as it’s a nice looking pub, food was decent but it’s genuinely the worst service I’ve ever had a boozer. Both bar people made you feel like they’d rather you not be there. One was called Heather (seen cheerier people Funeral Directors). Will not be coming back - off to the Monkhams from now on!

Terrible service. Barperson (M) didn't acknowledge, smile or even manage 'be with you shortly' as he wandered off with a pint of coke. Waited to be served for 10 minutes then left.. I used to like this pub but never again after this very poor experience

5 out of 5. Lovely roast dinner, delicious food and extra gravy and Yorkshire Pudding when we asked. Nichola was amazing, very engaging and made our meal even better.

At Crown & Crooked Billet, my taste buds were treated to a culinary delight like no other. The Hunter's Chicken and Fish and Chips were simply superb, leaving me craving for more with every bite. The Hunter's Chicken was tender and packed with flavor, while the Fish and Chips were crispy on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside - a true classic done right! And let's talk about the desserts - absolutely amazing! Each bite was a sweet symphony of flavors that left me wanting to try every dessert on the menu. During my visit I had the pleasure of witnessing the exceptional talent of kitchen manager’s whose attentiveness truly set the tone for the great experience at the Crown & Crooked Billet!

We had a nice dinner on Sunday afternoon. The roast and fish and chips were good. We also liked the service - Heather was very kind to provide us with a table (we were with a dog, no booking) and give some additional colouring sheets for our daughter.

Lovely service from Heather and the rest of the team. Delicious cheesy fries, sharing platter and chicken. Made to feel welcome, thank you. Jeff is sorry for knocking the pint over.

Had a belated Mothers Day lunch here. Whilst the restaurant was quiet (it was a Monday) there was a warm atmosphere within the whole pub and restaurant area. We were served by Heather who was superb. A lovely friendly and helpful lady who served us with a huge smile and positive attitude.

We were staying at the hotel across the road so popped in for a drink on a Friday and ended up staying for hours. Then went back on the Saturday. Friendly staff, nice customers, really nice looking place too with outside space and heaters. Didn't eat but the menu looked nice.

This is ridiculous! Worse Calamari & Prawns I have ever eaten. For £8 you can do better guys . Glad they had nuts at the bar , did help a lot .

Visited on the Saturday just gone, popped in on our way home from seeing family for some lunch! Didn’t expect much, but my experience was so outstanding it compelled me to write this review. The young girl at the bar (I think her name was Sophie? Long brunette hair) was especially friendly and kind hearted, taking her time with us and even remembering our drink orders when coming back for a second! Hygiene standards were fantastic, and the atmosphere there is welcoming and special. Will be back again, best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. Thank you to Sophie and the rest of the team!

Booked Christmas Day dinner here , setup was lovely, table laid out nicely, attentive staff and friendly atmosphere, the turkey was cooked to perfection, lovely stuffing , porn star martini’s were on point, Prosecco and soft drinks on arrival and lovely sourdough bread with sun dried tomatoes and olives as a canapé. The Camembert was lovely and the cheeseboard was lovely after the meal, some of my family had salmon , steak and Christmas pudding with all good feedback. Would definitely recommend and go again for Christmas and other occasions.

We went here for Christmas drinks - a group of guys from the local area. It was for some of us, our first visit to this pub. The interior was warm and welcoming, the bar staff friendly and helpful - a special mention to Heather who spoke with our group and with some friendly patter, had many of us sign up for the loyalty app which got us a free drink and enables further discounts and freebies . She was great overall. Thanks Heather!

We booked for a Festive meal with friends and Wow the table was decorated beautifully with santa hats and Christmas crackers! Food was gorgeous, I had the salmon gravlax for starters, mains Turkey roast and Berry tart for something sweet no complaints here. Nichola was a Fantastic host she looked after us well and delivered all our meals by name which was very professional. Couldn't recommend this place more!
