Crofters Restaurant in North Norfolk

The waiter was pleasant, not sure why, working in such a cold hard atmosphere. Now, the food, carvery, well, ummmm, Grumpy man serving, but in fairness, think he is like that with everyone. Did however seem more friendly with locals. The meat was ok, but cold, also veg were dry and cold. Yourshire pub cold and not cooked through. At least the gravy was hot. As I was eating they did top up the vets, but didn't empty the old lot out. Would I go again, NO. I had read the reviews , but thought, no, it can't be that bad. But hey ho. It was. It's a shame, tho, could be really good.

Was a little concerned when the displayed closing time was obscured by a piece of black sticky tape although the window display said "open late", so went in to enquire. We wanted to eat about 5.30 pm but were told quite sharply that we would have to arrive by 5.15 pm. We travelled about 4 miles and actually arrived at 4.50 pm only to find Crofters closed and in darkness (looked like it had been closed for some time). As we specifically asked for timings the day before, we were disappointed at the attitude towards us as customers. However, all was not lost. Ended up having a great meal opposite at Pia's Fish and Chips! Won't be (attempting) to return to Crofter's again.

Meat was spot on but veggies terrible and Yorkshire puddings,chap who served us was very stroppy ,both had carveries won't go again

A place we will never visit again male host was very bolshy and spent his time rushing me ,my hubby ordered carvery and myself being on a diet ordered a chicken burger without chips but with salad asked if I could have potato instead of chips was told no Tea and coffee Waited 20 mins and had to ask for our drinks they had forgot My awful tasteless burger with a bed of leaves and red cabbage came They still had not told hubby to go for his dinner had to call them His veg was not cooked so hard Had to call again to ask for condiments getting a joke now Asked the young girl if they had slim.ming sugar she didn't have a clue I asked for my bill and asked why I didn't get anything other than leaves and he really leaned down and hot in my face saying I told you the salad had changed he didn't he was so rude The menu on the window says tomatoe and coleslaw

A lovely well cooked carvery With tasty meats

Lovely staff and lovely food. They cook chips like my nana used to so I was having a good reminisce. Brilliant atmosphere too, with music that was just the right volume to enjoy.

Came in with my family last week for the cravey absolutely amazing Also I had my son with me who has additional needs who really struggled with the idea off the food the waiter and chef couldn't off gone above and beyond to help him to choose what he liked which ended up being fish and chips and was amazing Thank you

Had carvery that was ok but other 3 meals fish burger and prawns were terrible fish was very wet after it had been cooked the burger was dryer than the sun and the chips with the prawns were rank not forgetting the hair in the coleslaw it’s not the best but if your not that bothered go for it

Called in today (14/8/24) for our lunch with our grandson. Grandson had chicken burger with all the trimmings, he ate what he wanted and loved it. We had two carvery’s one beef and one turkey - Cooked to perfection . Plenty of everything and excellent value for money. We will certainly be using Crofters again and our grandson says he’s coming as well. Thanks Guys.

A lovely carvery meal! 3 meats and 3 veggie alternatives (grilled haloumi skewer, veggie burger and bean roast - cooked to order) with unlimited freshly prepared vegetables. Everything tasted fresh and hot. It’s a small restaurant so book to guarantee a table. Our server was friendly and helpful. Looking forward to going again!

Never been before, Mum chose the venue. Advertised Sunday carvery with half portion for children / pensioners so seemed ideal. Not many tables but all but one full at 1pm when we arrived. Quite a wait before food was ready and had to ask waitress the system of obtaining meal. Choice of pork, turkey, gammon or beef. Beef looked too rare for my taste. All meat piping hot. Disappointed in vegetables. Plenty of choice but appeared frozen rather than fresh and overcooked. Roast potatoes were tiny cubes and had an odd taint to them. Despite explaining mums small appetite and need for small portion we were charged for full portion. Could be really good but sadly we won't be returning.

Serves a good carvery, gravy was very flavourful but a little too salty for me. They advise discount for senior citizens, most other places, that is over 60. But not here, they say you have to be over 67.

Really good value for money and delicious. Great choice of sauces and vegetables to go with the beef, pork and gammon and generous portions. Recommended.

We had booked a table for 2, only to be greeted rudely at the door with he had no booking. I offered to show them proof, only to be dismissed with we have a table any. I understand Mistakes happen, but he was very abrupt and rude. Once seated, the young women wave to a row of soft drink cans, "those are the choice, or tea/coffee" We ordered soft drinks, which never arrived but were still on our bill. The carvery was nice and good value, HOWEVER, STAFF Were not pleasant, rude and the young women was totally disinterested. Staff attitude spoilt the whole experience. They need customer service training.

Cross contamination everywhere no gloves used ,meat handled by bare hands ,just needs more kitchen uniform worn by all ,and food preparation salad etc done in a separate area ,plus points you get a lot of meat compared to your Toby carvery

One of the best carveries we have ever had with plenty of choice and generous portions of meat so we can fully recommend the establishment. Also dog friendly. Feels more like a cafe than a restaurant but no complaints as this is all about the food rather than then the ambiance so don’t expect table cloths.

Good food very good value for money very filling and warming

We came across Crofters restaurant when looking for somewhere to lunch in Sheringham. A table for 6 people became available quite quickly. A very small restaurant (cafe'?) and we felt very squeezed in at the back. Clearly very short staffed - just the owner and a clearly inexperienced but trying hard young waitress. We had to wait some time for our meals, not a problem, but when eventually served, we were very disappointed. The selection of a meat baguette was very dry and pale, just a couple of pieces of meat in a French stick. The request for butter was declined, saying they have never buttered the rolls but it was extremely dry without it and totally not what was expected. With the selection of chips and crunchy bacon, the chips were Luke warm and the bacon was thick and unappetising, more like chopped up gammon. The Carvery selection was considered to be just about ok but the fish and chips was quite unappetising, so there was a lot of wasted food. The 'manager' seemed to be rushing about, even serving take aways outside, and the restaurant was clearly understaffed and all about getting bums on seats rather than offering good customer service. The surroundings weren't great and all in all it was a very disappointing experience, which is a shame centrally located in Sheringham. Dogs are allowed, fair enough, but next to our table was a very large, very furry hound which was a bit too close for comfort from a hygiene perspective! We were not asked the usual 'how are your meals?' and we were not asked if there were any allergies, which is quite unusual these days. Please Crofters, take advantage of your central location in Sheringham, employ more staff and improve the customer service.

Crofters Carvery , Sherringham, Norfolk. Stopped here with friends on a miserable rainy day and it cheered us up enormously. The food was cooked to perfection and I had what was the best tasting piece of beef that I have eaten in many a long day. My friends all said the same about their meals. We all felt that we couldn’t recommend Crofters highly enough. For food this good the price was a bargain. Don’t miss this if ever you visit Sherringham. Only sad that we can’t be regulars as we live in Kent.

Food was stunning, lots of choice on carvery, staff were lovely. Great value. Our dogs were welcome. Will visit again while here this week.

Excellent Sunday lunch today the food was fabulous.

Dirty and cross contaminated food. Could barely eat anything from the carvery as the meat had been dropped into the vegetables. The food that we could eat was disgusting. Yorkshire pudding microwaved and out of a packet. Tbh I didn't want to stop here in the first place as it looked dirty but it wasn't my choice. I cannot even comprehend how anyone can review this place at 2 stars let alone 5. There are so many other lovely places to eat in Sheringham.

Ate here by chance last night,during the busy viking festival, many places were fully booked ,we walked in and lucky enough to get a table for four. The food is amazing,the meat especially, my husband and I had the pork which was very tasty, lean and moist.Our friends had beef and turkey and were equally impressed. Also the portion size is very generous. Excellent choice of vegetables, all fresh and cooked perfectly, the gravy was so delicious. Its a small establishment, but cosy.Will definitely go back next time in Sheringham. Very good value for money too!

So first time im in sheringham and come try this new place and what a horrible experience ill just never go back!!! I found a bug in the veg on the carvery i let waiter know he took the veg back and tried to give me one bowl of the same veg boiling hot which looked microwaved after taking the bug out saying it was new fresh veg but obviously i didnt see it and came to the table way too fast to be fresh cooked veg and then the atmosphere was cold not friendly at all, chef was rude and lack of patience with costumers waiting to be served on carvery, waiter looked more of a bouncer than a waiter, just everything off putting, cold, not warming at all to bring people in On the end i asked bill, told the waiter after my horrible experience all i could had was the beef/meat and my juice i asked and nothing else due to not stop thinking the whole time about that bug going around carvery veg like his own garden And waiter/bouncer only told me : you have to pay normal price as everyone because the meat/beef is the most expensive in the carvery and you had just the beef!!! I couldn’t believe so i paid went away and will never go back!!!

Took our chance getting a table on Easter Sunday, walked in just in time. Fantastic roast dinner, meat and gravy was amazing, good selection of vegetables, only slight disappointment was Yorkshire pudding not home made but frozen and microwaved, however didn't spoil our tasty lunch. Only other slight annoyance was people bringing dogs in, whilst I don't have an issue with dog friendly places this small eatery wasn't the place, not enjoyable having a dog nearby whilst eating or hearing it bark. Well worth a visit, we'd definitely go again when in the area.

Really disappointed with our experience at Crofters. We booked a table for 3pm the night before and me and my girlfriend were really excited. We arrived at 2:59 and were told we would have to wait 5-10 minutes for our table we had booked, which we could deal with as it was Easter Sunday and we realise places can get busy. 15 minutes passed and we were told that we would have to wait even longer for our table, the we had booked for 3pm! We were really looking forward to the food and a carvery on Easter Sunday but it wasn’t meant to be. Disappointing to say the least.

My wife Jean and I always frequently visit Crofters when we come to the area on holiday. The food is wonderful and is excellent value for money too. We always get a lovely welcome from Pedro and all his staff, who look after us so well. Our choice of menu is the carvery and the food is always hot and tasty. The meat is lovely and tender and the portions are more than generous. Without a doubt Crofters is always our first choice of eateries when we are in the Sheringham area. I highly recommend this lovely place.

Excellent food, (carvery), we've not had better. Great value for money. Service was friendly and helpful. Dog friendly. Not a lot of covers but they do a takeaway service. Sadly no toilet facilities.

Me and my other half had "words" after Crofters,as I dared to suggest this was as good as her Sunday Roast! A gem of a place right in the high street,food cooked to perfection. Only very minus point was tables a little too close together I'm now sounding like CRH on strictly! If there was a 10 stars,it would get it.

We had planned to go to a pub in Sheringham and came across this place instead, I would firstly like to say that the waitress in there is lovely, that’s where it ends, the burger that came to the table next to us was burnt when it came out, they had a small child and requested a plate so the child could eat a small portion of mums food and it’s apparently chefs policy to charge £2.50 for an extra plate! It’s a child you silly man! My wife then ordered a baguette and oh high class cafe chef (greasy spoon cook) wanted to charge us a whole carvery for a side of mash and gravy! The place is a joke, don’t bother wasting your hard earned money. And there is no toilets, I guess if there was almighty chef would charge for that too.

We were having a 'day out' in Sheringham having had a lovely walk in Sheringham Park. We were looking for somewhere to eat and came across 'Crofters' near the bottom of Sheringham High Street. Attracted to it by the view of the carvery through the window. The restaurant was just about full but we managed a table for two. The restaurant is pretty small and the space a bit tight, but the experience was worth it for the excellent carvery. Good service, very well priced and excellent food. There was a vegetarian option and a choice of three or four meats with a good selection of both roast and boiled vegetables. All in all, we found the place had excellent food very reasonably priced. We would certainly visit again.

Food was okay put the decor looked like he knocked down his garden shed painting it white with splash marks on dark panels. It looks very shabby. Also asked for extra slice of turkey. To my amazement said no you will have to pay me more . Would I go back? NO

Worst food ever tasted. Dirty glasses, plates and cutlery. Staff very rude. NEVER GOING BACK. Putting the food in the window to make you go in then dries it out and flies all land on them.

Never got to try the food. Took the trouble to reserve a table several days. Called a couple of hour before. Arrived 5 minutes before time, couple in front of us straight to a table. Table for 6 with a reserved sign on it, could not see a table for two reserved. Waited, waited and waited then told we should have been advised when we booked it could still be at least a 15 minute wait ! We were not told and we booked with the owner!!! So Sunday roast out through the window, they really need to get their act together. The owner carving was really quite abrupt with one customer. Having stood there for 20 minutess saw this then decided enough was enough. Please learn to check you bookings so when people take the time and effort to book you are able to do the simple thing like put a reserved sign on a table It's not very difficult or rocket science, so folks don't bother to book.

Food was amazing. Only thing I would change personally is the roasted potatos needed to be cooked longer. Other then that meats were perfect.

We had pulled pork loaded homemade chips, which is very tasty and so was the homemade side salad coleslaw which came with on the side. The pulled pork for us was more of a chopped pork in a tasty sauce than "string like" pulled pork but still very nice. We visited for Sunday carvery lunch and the shop was very busy with queues out the front door. Food was excellent. Value for money very good. The only small negative is the shops inner decor and tables. It needs a freshen up and perhaps a woman's touch? with table cloths (even paper ones would suffice or update/improve the table tops with a light coloured sticky back plastic, which would freshen the look) and artificial flowers in a bottle on each table? for lunch and perhaps a candle added at evening dinner times to make the environment more appealing to the eye. It unfortunately looks more like a workmans breakfast cafe inside, which lets down the excellent food and service from the very "rushed off his feet" waiter. Booking a table for Sunday Carvery Lunch is very wise, as it gets super busy, especially on theme weekends in Sheringham.

What a place! Friendly and helpful staff. The decor was basic but clean. We didn't use the toilet facilities while we were there. The food was hot, so were the plates (an added bonus). The meat joints looked appetising and tasted delicious. The beef was cooked to perfection. The selection of vegetables were cooked al dente not a colourless mush. Such a shame we live 3 hours away or we'd be frequent visitors! Thank you.

We came to crofters whilst on holiday, the food was amazing, service was amazing! Only down side was that they didn’t have any high chairs and our buggy had to be kept by the door which meant it was in the way of others. Luckily we called and booked, and at that point they mentioned they had no high chairs so we took our travel one. Will definitely be going back

Called in for a carvery lunch and a drink. A very good carvery, meat is carved for you and then help yourself to vegetables. Very good value and very tasty. Only issue, there was a woman who thought it ok to have her dog on a seat at the table and then on her knee. It had its head on the table and she then proceeded to put its water bowl on the table for it to drink from. No problem with dogs we've had 2, but because of hygiene reasons they should stay on the floor.

Excellent carvery roast beef lunch. Generous portions, fresh and hot food, and all this for £12.50. The interiors are a little basic hut fine. very good indeed.

Board advertised as senior citizens price , told not valid as on a Sunday. Charged £4.00 for a small bottle of water which is the most expensive water I have ever bought in my life!!! We wouldn’t have eaten here had we known we would be charged half the price of the roast for a bottle of water they’ve bought in for less than a £1!!!!!!

Had Saturday carvery, and although food was tasty enough, the decor and general feel and cleanliness was a little lacking. My poor mother found hair in her food, and a worm 🐛 in her broccoli!! Pointed it out to the waiter who just laughed it off…no apologies whatsoever. Very disappointing way to treat tourists.

We were disappointed with Sheringham regarding provision of a good choice of gluten free meals at a sensible price until we chanced across this venue. Well done Team Crofters! A really good experience for each of us. My wife rates your GF fish 'n' chips as one of the best she has ever had - thank you! It's always reassuring to know that the person in charge is coeliac and knows how to care for customers.

Very small resturant, carvery was good , beef bit tough to cut as knifes need sharpening , downside no toilet facilities on site had to go to public conveniences about 70 to 80 yards away but they did keep my food warm , table service good .

The filled Yorkshire pudding was delicious choice of 4 meats with potatoes, stuffing and Gravy😋 It's a must if you're hungry in Sheringham Don't just take my word for it try for yourself you Won't be disappointed 🤗👍

Had the cavery today. The place was extremely hot, very uncomfortable conditions. The food was luke warm. Plenty of flies present, and the bottle of white wine came un-chilled. When I enquire about toilet facilities, I was informed that there were public toilets in the town 😳. Would never visit again.

advertising a lovely carvery costing £8.95 for pensioners. So we went in with a dog. The place desperately needed a fly zapper in there. We were served drinks. Then got our carvery which was a very fair one. The tables were full by the time we had finished and was asked to move the dog as she was too close to the people behind! Paid the bill and questioned it carvery is £12.50 pensioners only get discount if they ask when order. Will not be going back!

The best carvery we have eaten in a long time. Service was outstanding and very friendly. The meat was superb, very tasty and the vegetables cooked beautifully. We were so pleased to have found this restaurant and will definitely recommend it to our friends.

Excellent food and service. Our waitress served us with a smile and was very friendly. We chose to have the meat baguettes, which were served with salad. A beautiful meal. Crofters also serve a full blown carvery meal which looked excellent but a bit too much for us pensioners at lunch time. Next time we’re gonna skip breakfast so we can indulge. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended

What a great little place this is. I had the carvery and had two slices of beef, and the same of the pork. The gentleman then cut one very large Yorkshire pudding in half and plated that too. It was then up to me to choose from a vast selection of veggies, sausages and stuffing along with sauces and a very tasty gravy. I would highly recommend that visitors to Sheringham try this place. Great value too!

Absolutely a gem of a place. We both had BBQ chicken skewers. The side of Salsa Creole was amazing so we're the skewers. Lovely cheesecake for afters. Don't read any of the negative reviews, they are all rubbish.

Excellent carvery and a wide choice of non carvery meals, but it's the carvery aspect that most will visit for. Generous helpings of meat and a wide selection of help yourself itens. The vegetables all seemed fresh. Great value as well. The only very minor negative was the small portions of yorkshire pudding offered, which most carveries never seem to skimp on, so it was a slight surprise when receiving such a small portion.

Excellent Sunday roast with fresh veg and gorgeous gravy...Pedro the owner was a lovely interesting guy both Pedro and his lovely assistant (really the boss) couldn't of done enough for the damsels in distress..definitely will be coming back.. will be trying the skewers and home made chips next time.. if they are half a good as the Sunday roast you cannot go wrong x Thank you for a lovely meal from your number one fans at Hazelbury x See you both soon xx

Just had the grilled fish at Crofters, what a joy to find somewhere that doesn't think fish has to be coated in batter. Both my wife & my self had the fish and will be back for more. Great find

My wife and I had a carvery there today, food was excellent and plenty of it, very good value also dog friendly, now we've discovered it we will be regulars for sure.

What a place!! Food was absolutely amazing, hot, fresh, clearly home made and full of flavour, oh...... and plenty of it!! Although there's no children's menu, our two little ones shared an adult meal and it was cheaper than 2 kids meals would have been anyway and was plenty of it. Drinks not overpriced unlike so many other places. I can't recommend this place enough, great little spot, we will be back :-)

Fantastic place can't rate it highly enough. Lovely food, friendly staff, great experience. Had Yorkshire pudding wrap and it was everything I wanted it to be, my husband had chicken kebab with chips that were honemadecandcrealky lovely. We will definitely be visiting again. The food was beautiful, we had the kebabs and they were lush. The home made chips were lovely and it was all cooked fresh. The surroundings were not so great and the toilet leaves a lot to be desired. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was just the chef and 1 waitress, small but busy place, they done their best to keep things flowing nicely. Reasonably priced too

on are jolly out to Sheringham we usually go for fish and chips we have often looked at crofters but it was full ,this time they had space in we shown table no problems , then the problems, started we were spoilt for choice, absolutely...

Wow. Had a carvery here on Sunday with my 2 teenagers, usually very fussy! It was fresh which is so unusual these days. Veg, meat was tender. Can t fault the food. Will be back soon.

For £12.50 I would expect some basic level of comfort and cleanliness. The tables were sticky, the waitress had to peel the menu off them. They have made no effort to make this place comfortable. The old crofters has been ripped out and then old tables thrown in. There were flies on the meat and heading to the kitchen, in Feb, suggests something rotting somewhere. Meat was cooked very well. Vegetables were OK. Potatoes were terrible. 'Eye' left in every Potato. Poured gravy over dinner before realised is was far too salty and ruined everything. If the price reflected the cheap and cheerful fair enough, but it doesn't.

Called in today, pleasant and friendly staff, we both enjoyed a piping hot carvery with all the trimmings, excellent quality and probably the best value along the Norfolk Coast.

Six of us called in for lunch and had a lovely carvery. Staff are very friendly and we could have gone up for more food. Excellent value for money. Will definitely be back.

We stopped here to eat on the 29/7/22. We decided to have the haddock and chips. When it came out it looked absolutely lovely the chips were lovely and golden. Then when I cut into the fish it was clearly undercooked! And there was also a hair in mine? My husband cut into his fish which was also undercooked! I took them back to the guy who had just served us and said it was undercooked and he said are you sure? We walked out as it put us off our food? We definitely won’t be eating here again

I get a giant yorkshire pudding filled with lots of beautifully cooked tender roast beef great roast potatoes gravy and lots of veg at least once a week from here and it's always ace. I can't believe there is a 2 star bad review on TripAdvisor for this place. Its very unfair to the owner who is very friendly to his customers who all think he is great - obviously apart from 1!

Visited for a recent Sunday carvery. We were served turkey instead of the chicken we had asked for, and which Crofters advertised as available. but we were not initially told that the chicken had been substituted by cheaper turkey until we asked - reason given...

Quality home cooked food (lovely steak and ale pie with proper chips), fast friendly service, good price.....would definitely return
