Croft Avenue Fisheries in Middlesbrough

Shocking that they now charge 10p for a bag of scraps!!! After all it’s only the batter that’s dropped of the fish your buying anyway!!!!Always been a good chippy in the past but definitely not as good as it used to be, it’s worth the 5 min extra drive up to Paul’s at the spitfire roundabout thornaby, portions huge and you only need 1 portion of F&C for 2 people!

I always go here for Great fish and chips.

Gorgeous chips and all the other food is like 5 stars but bit overpriced yeah it's worth it but still just go if u have the money, the staff are lovely and if u go there enough they act like ur mates and nice statue inside. Love this place but 4 stars total for price x

Always very hot, fresh and tasty. Brian and his lovely wife both very friendly; as are the female staff :-)

Used this place a few times over the years. Came in about 3/4 weeks ago and almost fell over at the prices. Sausage and chips was over £7! Wasn't up to it's very high price tag. Chips tasted of nothing but grease. Very disappointed.

Fantastic chip shop but please change the timings on the website come on a sat 5.20pm to find you were closed even though your website says open 4.30-7.30 this is not the first time this has happened to me either

Arrived just after opening time today but when we got home the chips were clearly yesterday's. Black, horrible, earthy and really greasy. £32 was not well spent! Not sure what has happened to this place but we won't be going back anytime soon. Really disappointing to pay so much and it not be nice at all. Fish, Sausage, chicken nuggets were mostly tasteless, best thing was the luke warm gravy.

Thoroughly enjoy the food from here, best chippy around and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

We go once a week on Thursdays, twice in the past 6 weeks the fish has really been terrible.. well no more we'll go elsewhere in future.

It was ok chips and gravy were alright but ordered a large and got a small but was charged for a large and they weren’t very warm and undercooked

Good honest food. Fish and chips worthy of the seaside. Great customer service, always with a smile. The batter is crisp and and the fish is soft and will fall apart in your mouth. Chips are lovely though the large bags could be larger. The curry sauce is spot on. Prices are reasonable.

There were TWO hairs in my chips, DISGUSTING.

Fish patty was just full of potato, and the large portion of chips were more like a young child's portion.

Quite expensive but really really good.

First time I've visited this chippy, despite living in Boro my whole life. Will 100% definitely be back. Some of the nicest chips I've had in a long while, and the fish patty and gravy were both also top notch. Staff lovely too and up for a laugh while waiting in the shop. Might be my new fave chippy, once I've tried it a few more times :)

Very smart looking chippy with all new mosaic tiles and brushed steel finishers inside. As regards to the food it's also spot on. Cannot complain, always been a good chip shop.

Great fish shop, very nice staff, lovely food with big portions, so much better than G’s fish bar with an ignorant owner ho is rude to customers, take a look down the road a Croft o see how you should run a fish shop.

Food tastes amazing but the portions are the smallest in Middlesbrough and the most expensive. Spent over £10 on a small saussage and chips, fish bites and chips and a small (tiny) carton of curry.

Only had a chip butty but I'll tell you what it was delicious and only £2.50. Nice big servings too. Might treat myself again tomorrow!

£9.40 for fish small chips n peas. Peas cold chips hard half cooked! Never agen!
