This is the first time that we have stayed here and we were not disappointed. The family room that my friend and I stayed in was clean, warm and comfortable. The beds were amazingly comfortable, and we could not fault anything. All of the staff that we spoke with were friendly, courteous and helpful. Unfortunately there is, at present, no evening meals available but we were allowed to have takeaway meals in the room. Overall an absolutely fantastic stay in an amazing hotel. Thank you so so much 😊

We used to holiday here before we eventually retired and moved to the area. The hotel has had a major refurbishment so we decided to call in have lunch and a nosy. It has been renovated to a very high standard, it is very spacious, light and airy, with plenty of comfortable seating in the lounges and the Restaurant. I ordered the Cheese and Bacon Toasted Doorstop sandwich which was delicious. My hubbie ordered the Sausage and Mexican omelette burger, which he said was amazing . We will definitely visit again.

Stayed here for two nights. Hotel is lovely, very welcoming. We paid extra to have a lake facing room, and it was certainly worth it. The view from my room was stunning. The rooms are a good size and well appointed, with everything you need. Staff are friendly and helpful. The homemade white chocolate chip cookies in the room are a nice touch, and replenished daily. Very close to the centre of Bowness. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and would happily stay again….

We recently spent a mini holiday at The Craig Manor Hotel and had an excellent time. As it was our wedding anniversary we splashed out on one of the more ‘expensive rooms’ and were not disappointed. The room was spacious and comfortable and cleaned each day. The breakfast , being a buffet service allows you to eat as much or as little as you like and is of a very good quality, Well done to Jason and his team for their hard work and we look forward to returning in 2024 to view the proposed new development of the hotel😃

Excellent check in and check out. Staff were friendly and efficient. There is an iron and ironing board in the room. The room was compact but comfortable. Breakfast was superb. Full English breakfast, with very tasty fried mushrooms and fried sausages. There is also a gluten free section. Ample free parking. Free wifi too but this has very low bandwidth in the room.

We have stayed here a few times and loved it. On returning on the 9th Aug 2022 for an overnight stay to celebrate my birthday I was soo disappointed! We stayed in a small room facing the main road, it was very noisy and heavy traffic started going past just after 6am. Room was very hot and couldn’t keep window open in the night due to noise. There was a fan which was a god send. The shower constantly dripped all night too! Not the best sleep I have to admit! Light shone in all night ( spot lights) as curtains had gap around. On a positive note Staff were lovely and the breakfast was delicious. I informed staff of shower problem in the morning as reception in not manned during the night.

Decided on a spur of the moment overnight and found a room here, our first time. On arrival all looked good, premium for lake view room made me smile. Really enjoyed our stay, one of the best breakfasts we've had in definitely one of the best settings, view out the restraunt window most certainly has a lake view.

My husband and parents dined here for our Christmas Day lunch and couldn’t find fault even if we tried. The lunch was fabulous, served by friendly professional staff, totally unhurried despite them having a second sitting. A nice break was left between courses. A surprise extra of mince pies and hot drinks were served at the end. Beautifully decorated restaurant with views of the lake. The table was set with little treats and party hats. A wonderful Christmas experience thank you 😊

We stayed in a local guest house who only did bed and breakfast ..... so we looked for a local restaurant to have an evening meal, We went in to have a drink and a general look around , the lady on the bar was very helpful and got us a menu to look at. The menu looked good value and quite varied , so we decided to book a meal for 2 the following evening. .... So we arrived in good time and ordered a drink at the bar and were shortly chaperoned to our table at the window overlooking Lake Windermere , absolutely stunning view. We decided not to have a starter and opted for the 2 course menu.I had ribeye steaks and crushed potatoes & veg and My husband had the Haddock chips and mushy peas - both meals were excellent my steak was “just how I like it” - for dessert mixed local ice cream ... delicious and I had Elton mess which again was again delicious. Our main meals were served efficiently and piping hot . We had a further drink at the end of the meal and we were not rushed in any way. The staff were very friendly, efficient and attentive. A really enjoyable experience, great food and good value , I think we will return on our next visit to Bowness. All COVID protocols were well signposted and operated efficiently.

Hotel room was very small for a family of 3 and also very noisy at night from busy road traffic outside window. I had to put earplugs in to be able to sleep. Shelf over bathroom sink jutted out to much so you only had a 1/3rd of the sink to wash in and shave. Wardrobe door would not stay shut when you hung your clothes in it so had to use daughters hairband to keep it close. Had breakfast only and was very good but manager talked down to his staff all the time and that was off putting. Bar was good and service was slow sometimes as no barman about. Drinks were expensive. View from lounge was very nice and seats very comfortable.

This really is a top hotel whose 3 Star rating is baffling – should easily be 4. Easy and secure free parking. Friendly welcome as soon as you step through the door. Clear Covid Policies and Routines in place which are a real confidence boost. Rooms and Hotel have recently been upgraded and it clearly shows. Really nice Lounge, Bar and Restaurant. Ideal for a relaxing drink and unwind. Food in the Restaurant can also be highly recommended. We had the Black Pudding Scotch Egg, Smoked Salmon Starters followed by the Chicken Curry and Mince Pie. All superb. A special mention for the Staff who were absolutely first class. Service was tremendous throughout. For those of a certain age this Hotel is similar to The Turret in Berwick in its heyday. All in all a great place to stay and can highly recommend.

We booked in for Fri to Sunday to celebrate my cousins 50th, they had been before so booked for us all 10 adults altogether. On arrival the receptionist booked us in and told us were our room was. The hotel is very dated and basic for the price we paid, we expected better. Breakfast was self service and adequate. We had dinner on the Saturday night, the good and service was perfect and couldn't be faulted. We noted to the receptionist that a handrail needed fixing by the front door entrance, as my Mum has a walking stick and didn't feel safe without my help. The bedroom was again basic and dated no toiletries in bathroom, bed was small hard and not very comfortable. Pillows were lumpy and old, very disappointing for what we paid

The reception staff were very discreet which is not always easy when checking-in. They provided a helium balloon in our room at no charge; a nice touch. The hotel is very comfortable and clean, nice views, plenty of seating areas. The food is good and the bar reasonable. When the 'kids' appeared they said their rooms were bigger, with the biggest going to the couple with a baby, and ours was ample. The car park is a very good size and not awkward as some people have mentioned; it's just under an arch. We unfortunately had to stay in this quite dated hotel during the floods over the December weekend due to bring stranded. We were greeted by reasonably helpful young lady on reception who charged us £110 for a standard room, which when we checked was available for £60 online. As mentioned above the room was very dated as were the communal areas upstairs. Our real issue was when we returned to the hotel after our even meal in the village, the staff were extremely rude, we purposely sat out of the way with our 3 year old and another family who were staying in the hotel with kids whilst they played as not to disturb the other three couples in the bar area, only to have the young receptionist to complain that the children were making a noise, we did explain that they were only playing and that is why we sat outside of the bar area, also stating that earlier in the day they were pulled from their car through a window as it was submerged during the flooding, unsure whether she understood as with all the staff English is not their first language.Notwithstanding, we checked out the following day, made our feelings known politely and checked into another hotel whilst awaiting our vehicles to be assessed.I would strongly recommend thinking twice before booking this hotel.

Read the bad reviews for this place today, after being here for a day, and wonder what went wrong. It is a shame that management do not comment here, unlike some other places. Here's my 5 cents worth, the receptionist was friendly and attentive, got to our room 103 on the ground floor. Pity about the room with a view, we could see the road. It is a nice enough room, tidy and clean. Going to the restaurant I was hoping the groupon voucher wasn't a passport to poor service. We went into the restaurant and brought back to wait in the bar area until the table was ready. This was a little strange, not what we are used to. Had time to look at the menu and ordered. We had only a few minutes to wait, before being taken to the table by the head waiter? A very pleasant polish guy, I think. Getting served by the pleasant waitress was a bit of a laugh, she's got more bubbles than a bottle of fairy. Starter was quickly produced, smoked haddock and spring onion fish cake, with a side of rocket etc, and a pickle. Very nice it was. Then the soup of the day, mushroom and thyme, nice, as I expected, mushroom soup isn't my favourite. Next the main meal, OMG one of the best meals ever. Bombay duck breast, in a sweet sauce, with dauphinois potato and mashed turnip. The sauce brought the meal together, and I was dissappointed when the experience was over. The dessert was ice cream, nice again. We are going to try an Indians tonight, but can only hope it compares with last nights manna.

We were staying at the hotel for 2 nights & included a 4 course meal on the first night. The menu choices & the food itself were superb. So much so that we ate in on the second night as well. Staff were very friendly and looked after us very well

I had Christmas lunch here for my work's Christmas do. Food was great, served quickly to a very large party and clean plates all round. I like the lounge areas which are great to sit and have a drink after the meal. Only slight negative is that the menu seemed to be exactly the same as last year (we preordered by the way due to large group).

We have just returned from another travel zoo offer to this hotel, and for what we paid it was ok, we would have been disappointed if we had paid full price. The location is very good for Bowness and Windermere, would have preferred a room at the rear as the rooms at the front suffer from the road, and we thought we might have been given one of these as the hotel was not even half full. The breakfast lets it down too, the buffet style is not good as the food is not fresh and not hot enough.

I have reviewed this place before but have to again, we were let down by a booking we had made eleswhere due to an over booking of tables and we had a choice of wait for two hours or go. Pleased we went. We dropped into the Craig Manor and they were pleased to oblige. We were seated 40 minuets later which was plenty of time for a nice drink and a wander around the splendid gardens (lovely sunny day) before enjoying a 4 course meal which we all enjoyed and we had a very fussy eater with us. Comments afterwards was by my two guests please can we come here again when visiting. I will not bore you with the menu but I had a Trio of duck followed by an apricot sorbet, roast venison and a delightful cheese board, all at £24.00 per head. The downside is you must either have a good walk afterwards or a siesta as you are rather full, but its all so good you do clear the plates. Presentation excellent, food top class and service perfect. I said once before do not miss and I echo this again. John

Have been here a couple of times for Sunday lunch over the last few months and never disappointed. Staff always very friendly. Good service. Delicious food and plentiful portions. Yorkshire puddings are great. Would like the occasional change of vegetable selection. Nice setting with views of the Langdales from the rear of the hotel. A very good place for Sunday lunch in Bowness

The food at the Craig Manor is superb! There is a great choice, all of which is cooked so well, and the setting of the restaurant is beautiful, affording idyllic views throughout the day. Well worth every penny!

We came here after 10 years as a birthday treat for my 99 year old grandma. What a disappointment. Long gone are the traditional values that it once offered but foreign waitresses and management that have no personality and charm. We had booked a table through the week and this was not a problem but the seats looked and felt as old as the building. Ironically unfortunately between the three of us sat at the table we have had 5 hip replacements and three knee replacements this caused us a a massive problem helping my grandmother get up and down to the carvary. The starters came immediately after we ordered of the set menu was taken. Again by a waitress with no interest in you at all. Question was do we not get offered drinks with our meal? After we had eaten our soup which to be fair was delicious I decided we weren't going to be offered any so I might as well ask myself. When we got the drinks again with petty problems we had ordered sparkling water what surprised me was they didn't even unscrew the top and pour some in the glass as you would expect in what is regarded as a fairly high class restaurant. When I pointed this out the manager I quote said "its a three star hotel we do not open the bottles"!!! I was dumbfounded. Pointless really going over every other detail. I did raise these concerns and more to the manager which out of respect I asked him if I could speak to him out of ear shot of the other diners. Respectfully I did not want to make a scene. I told him that I felt it would be better to speak to him directly rather than say everything was ok then go straight onto TripAdvisor slating him and the restaurant. After explaining about the undercooked veg, cold gravy, cold plates and fatty beef the manager agreed to not charge me for any of the food but just the drinks. Obviously I am very happy about that outcome but must stress I was not after a free meal I would rather of paid full price and have enjoyed it like we once did when my grandfather was alive. So your probably thinking she got a free meal and whats the point in writing a negative comment. My ans is have you noticed the previous comments even the excellent ones the management hasn't got the decency to respond to any one of them! To me that shows neither of the comments have been valued. So my advice is go if you want to but be prepared to be disappointed. Maybe management my change things and turn it round into an excellent place to dine as it was once. Lets hope so?!

As part of a two night stay we got a 4 course meal on the day of arrival and full English breakfast on both mornings of our stay. The menu was brought to us in the lounge and 3 or 4 minutes later we were asked if we were ready to order. We were seated at a window table with a view through the fields looking down to lake Windermere. Our first course arrived within 5 minutes - garlic mushrooms served in a pancake - delicious!! The other courses were just as mouth watering and arrived with a short, but not excessive break in between. Service was very friendly and personal but not overpowering.Breakfasts....... Everything that you could possibly want with the likes of scrambled egg prepared freshly on request and delivered to your table from the kitchen. All we have to now is diet for a week.

We turned up quite hungry and walked through the bar to the dinning area and waited. When someone did arrive we asked for a table for two, there were plenty and only a handful of people in the restaurant. We we asked to wait then after a few moments were told that they couldn't fit us in, no explanation. With service like that no wonder they were quite empty. On our next visit to the lakes we wont give this place a second thought. Avoid!

Went for the sunday lunch carvery but very disappointed. First advertised as lake views nothing like only looking into trees.carvery was average with choice of 3 roasts.but was put off when asked for the gravey to be put on top of the Yorkshire pudding at which the chef made a hole with his finger which had a plastic glove on and poured gravey into.not very professional. Decor in the restaurant was drab and dreary.wont be visiting again.

We took advantage of a terrific weekend deal along with our friends who recommended this hotel. From the outset we were not disappointed. The room had a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and some delicious chocolates waiting for us. The room and en suite were spotless and very comfortable. A terrific view of Lake Windermere from our bedroom window was an unexpected bonus. We ate at the hotel for dinner twice, breakfast and Sunday lunch. Every meal was delicious. Lots of choice for starter and mains and some super puddings such as the excellent sticky toffee pudding. The cheese plate was good as well. Over the two days the four of us tried the Lamb Rump, Belly Pork, fillet steak, roast lamb, stuffed chicken and breast of duck. They were all expertly cooked, good size portions and extremely tasty. The sorbet dish was a nice touch (although Gillian just didn't get it). Breakfast was a buffet and very good quality. The ambiance is just right. Relaxed and really chilled. Stunning views of the mountains and the lake really add to the experience. The pianist is highly accomplished, if not a little shy. He has a particularly light touch on the keys as the piano accompanies dinner with a wide range of melodies. The real strength of this hotel, that sets it apart from the rest and makes it one not to miss, is the friendliness and high quality of the staff. Each member of the team is a real character and extremely hard working. Monika appeared to work 27 hours a day and always had a smile and a sexy wink. The Chinese lady is barking mad and great fun! Bernie, the crazy carvery chef, is a real character and also works his socks off producing excellent quality food, serving in the carvery with a great sense of humour and cracking size portions. All in all, this is a smashing hotel and restaurant. We had a fantastic stay here (even with Gillian and John) and can't wait to come back! Excellent on every level and well worth a visit for a meal or to stay. This has to be considered for your Lake District destination!

We went here for Sunday lunch. It was a lovely hotel if not a little dated. The actual lunch that we had was very good considering the cost we paid. So the value for money was excellent. The only thing was their seats in the dining room appear to be well used and in need of a refurb. Apart from that most enjoyable

Had a very enjoyable meal at the Craig Manor. The menu catered well for vegetarians, I had a very tasty lentil and red pepper lasagne and it was a nice change from the usual penne pasta veggie option. The food was lovely and the whole dining experience was made all the more enjoyable by the wonderful maitre d' and his waitress who was such a lovely lady. These two staff members are a great asset to the hotel and I will certainly return here to dine on my next visit to the lakes.

There fit a short break but received top quality service. Booked hotel using a voucher from a well known voucher site. Expected the choice of food available and the quality if service to reflect this. The quality if food and service was top notch . Would recommend to friends and look forward to returning again.

This trip was bought for us for Christmas though Groupon. The hotel was lovely with stunning views of Windermere and the mountains behind. The rooms were fairly basic but very clean and such a comfortable bed. The included meal was superb and the breakfast was to die for. Staff were really friendly and more than helpful. Especially the restaurant manager who had a really genuine way with his customer service.

Ate in the restaurant as non residents. Very warm and welcoming ambiance in the lounge. Very pleasant and helpful staff. There was a good choice of dishes both starters and mains We enjoyed the Greek salad which was a generous portion size. The duck and the chicken were very tasty and well prepared. A very pleasant and not overpriced dining experience.

Yes Paisleys is a Hotel restaurant that could do with a face lift to bring it up to date but the food was beautiful, the steak was so tender and tasty it was like putting a hot knife through butter. I've not eaten here before but I will definitely go back!

We decided to take some friends out for lunch and thought we'd try this place as walking distance from where we live.It starts with a list of guest names pinned to the door of the restaurant so you know which table number you are at. The laminated carvery menu is thrown in front of you for 30 seconds to choose a starter before orders taken. When we asked if we could order drinks we were told to go back to the bar!!Starter was okay but again staff have clearly not been trained as food dumped down. Carvery ok. To pay you are told to go to the bar, get a slip of paper to take to another cashier. This is an embarrassment to the lakes hospitality with service that is cringe worthy. I have no idea how they are in business but will never go back.

We really enjoyed our birthday dinner for two. This is a timeless hotel restaurant in décor and layout. Our meal was good quality, elegant and very good value. Above all, we experienced extremely high quality and prompt personal service from all the staff. The head waiter welcomed us, oversaw our experience and put right any problem. The window table afforded a beautiful view of sundown over the mountains across Lake Windermere. If you want trendy, this is not it, but if you are looking for a high standard, good value and adult experience where you are made to feel special, you cannot go wrong. We would happily return.

We stayed here about 5 years ago, so coming back to the lakes we decided to come hear again. the price has gone up, but then it was 5 years! We had a lake view room and although the decor is a littel dated it was still just as lovely. I think they had put a new bathroom in. The charm of this hotel is its location, staff and its breakfast. All very friendly. We would come again. Wish it had wifi in the rooms though.

Booked for six for New Years Eve, we all had excellent meals, with the steak and roast beef being especially good.Local's who were also there were saying how good and how consistent the food was and they were not wrong.About £180 for three courses, wine and other drinks. The only thing that could have been better was that on arrival after being asked to take a seat in the lounge and wait for the menus to order, we were left for a while and it was not obvious that the staff knew we were waiting to order. But it was a very busy night, and based on quality of the meals we would return.

Barmaid wanted £36. I said, "£36 for two puddings and a pint and a half?" She immediately reconsidered. "It's £29.50.". She printed me a receipt and said, "You asked for extra custard. Life isn't free, sir." I had indeed asked for extra custard, for which I had only been charged a pound. But obviously, people who query bar bills in the Lakes are regarded as the lowest form of scroungers.

Tempted by window display. No prices displayed, shocked at prices. Asked if I wanted vegan sausage roll warmed. Outside was warm, middle stone cold. Stodgy, salty filling. Would have preferred a Greggs. Over priced and disappointing 😞
