Coy Carp Harefield in Three Rivers

Had a lovely lunch with some friends. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful We had a lovely afternoon with friends.

Not massively welcoming staff, we’d had a crappy day and hadn’t eaten and stopped as looked promising. Glasses absolutely filthy with lipstick marks. 🤮 No toilet roll in ladies. Some food was nice but most either dry, underwhelming or massively overpriced. And also paid for parking which was annoying as you don’t need to do if you’re a guest of the restaurant.

This has to be one of my favourite Canal side pubs with lots of history in the surrounding area & lovely walks by the canal. I've been coming here for (15+) years. Every time I'm passing bye on my Canal boat I always try and moore up near by for my 2 weeks stay & pop in and see Martin and his team. What's to like? A Great location,A nice garden with lots of tables. Free WiFi. A good selection of cask ale 🍺 &🍷 + Gin,Whiskey & cocktails available. Also Tea,coffee for the non drinkers & soft drinks for the kids. Doggy beer (water) is available for your pooches and well behaved dogs can have a doggy treat. Ask the staff. Muddy paws 🐾 are welcome at the bar but not in the restaurant. 🐕🐩🐶 Bar snacks available,see menu! A menu that changes every few month & there is always something interesting on it & sometimes I have hard time choosing what to have to eat 😋 If you like your Sunday Roast pop in & try one,very nice. (I would phone and book a table for Sunday lunch) What's not to like? Right PARKING...Let's get this out of the way, it's FREE for pub guests. YOU just need to enter your vehicle's registration at the console just inside the pub entrance or at the bar,any problems see the staff for help. If you forget to then you could be in for a fine! If you just want to park & take a walk along the Cancel then you Pay! There are a lot of parking signs around the car park telling you to enter your registration at the pub so you can't really say you didn't see them!!. It can get INSANELY busy on a nice day and you may have to wait for your food,so just warning you! So sit back and relax,watch the Canal boats or the Ducks go by & have a drink🍷🍻 🙂 while you wait. Lastly, The WiFi here is ok here,you have to sign up/In for free internet 🛜 Overall IMHO it's a nice place to relax and have a drink & grab a bite to eat. So if your passing by on your Canal boat or by car/bike or just on foot drop in and check the Cory Carp out you may like it, just like I do. 😎 Enjoy! This use to be a family favourite years ago. Returned on Sunday for a family meal and was so impressed with the menu. Most pubs usually only offer roasts on a Sunday. But the extensive menu offered skewers, burgers and fish dishes.

Really nice family lunch while hiking in the area. Food was really good and Megan provided great service.

Bit of an odd experience. Went on bank holiday but decided not to eat as was put off immediately by the rather rude manner of an older staff member (perhaps manager?). Went to move onto a table that’d just emptied as it had a nice view of the river, rather than politely being told the table was reserved I was given a dirty look and so I had to ask if it was okay to sit there. He gestured the reserved sign (that wasn’t clear as the table was still messy) I had assumed that it was for the past guests but as soon as I realised I made to move back straight away, an easy mistake to make and put right? He huffed that people had been waiting all day, which of course I understand (preferably when told politely) but as a guest who’d just arrived (and observed a few empty tables) I hadn’t been aware of that. I went back to the two seated table I was on before, which had no reserved sign, even then he was quite cold about me trying to sit there and went off the check reservations. Apparently it was free as the people who had reserved that one hadn’t turned up. Wasn’t made to feel welcome to sit on it though… Again, nothing wrong with the actual situation but just a bit bemused at him being so randomly unfriendly. I understand that it was a busy day but don’t think rudeness is ever justified. Anyway the rest of the staff were genuinely lovely, the location is beautiful (sitting by the window and watching the ducks is very peaceful!) However I will likely not go back for a while owing to the rudeness of the man I interacted with. Just left a bad taste. Shame as the pub has many happy memories for me!

Pitstopped at this quaint pub whilst on a walk. After navigating the seating and how to order from the menu, we sat back to enjoy the river setting. It didn't take long for the food to arrive. Although the food was standard, the portion sizes were decent and made well. A nice discovery.

We went here for a delicious Easter Sunday roast. We left with a full stomach and only slight ear ache. The pub is in a lovely location and we had a relaxing walk along the canal before coming here. The food was all top quality. The meal was slightly tainted by the small bald man shouting karaoke into a mic turned up so much it was distorting. We were seated far enough away that at the start of the meal it was background music but by the end it was quite loud! It wasn’t a deal breaker but equally not the atmosphere for a relaxing meal. I’m unsure if he is always there or maybe just an Easter ‘treat’. Will return another Sunday and see!

Truly wonderful restaurant. Brilliant, peaceful setting. Staff were brilliant. Jess in particular was very welcoming and attentive. Food was absolutely excellent. Portion sizes were great. The combination of flavours and ingredients were sublimely good. We will be back again. And soon.

We have just enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Coy Carp in Harefield. The staff were friendly and patient and our waiter Elliot was very obliging with requests. The pub is an old building situated on the canal and very scenic setting. It has certainly improved from our last visit some years before when it was under different ownership. There is good choice on the menu for food and drinks and we all enjoyed our meals which were delicious and generous portions. There is seating outside for sunny days too. We will definitely return.

I took my family on Friday night ,I was not happy.My daughter had a hair in her peas ,my burger was cremated and dry ,waited too long to get our drinks .would not go back

Really nice location, especially on a warm & sunny day right next to a canal so a cheeky walk to work off lunch goes down well. Friendly service and nice food, we even met the chef who was lovely. Recommended

Returned again for lunch today. As always with the Coy Carp the food was excellent and the atmosphere very relaxing. Again, we received outstanding service from Elliot, he is always extremely personable, friendly and attentive, a credit to your restaurant!

Only came for a drink so food is rated in reference to the beer. With a good selection of mainstream larger to choose from, it was nice to not take long to decide what to drink. Unfortunately though, this pub needs to clean their lines more often. Whilst the staff were happy to pour fresh pints for me a few times, making their service great, there was repetitively bits of build up in my glass after every pour. It’s a shame that a pub that must be held to such a high regard in the area lets this slip. Inside was nice and clean, outside needed some cleaning but on a sunny day I understand that it would have been busy during peak hours.

I had the pleasure of dining at The Coy Carp recently, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a perfect balance of rustic charm and modern touches. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The menu offered a great variety of traditional pub fare, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection.We had a range of dishes with the highlight being the beef bourguignon and sticky platter. A very special thank you to Helena who looked after us all incredibly well. She dealt with our allergen with great care, answering all of our questions and double checking to make sure! (Give her a bonus!) The portion sizes were generous, and every dish was presented beautifully. For dessert, I couldn't resist trying the homemade sticky toffee pudding, which was a perfect end to a wonderful meal. The rich, indulgent caramel sauce was divine, and the pudding itself was light yet satisfying. Overall, The Coy Carp provides a fantastic dining experience with high-quality food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. Whether you're out for a casual meal or a special occasion, I highly recommend this pub!

We had a selection of dishes. The food was tasty but quinoa and halloumi is not a good option and worth the price. The staff are friendly and service is good.

Fantastic pub once again, great food and great service, a much improved favourite place of ours.

This was our first visit for many years and I can honestly say it was so much better than it used to be. The menu was variable and reasonably priced. The food was really tasty. All the staff were very pleasant and professional. Our server was called Irina and she was helpful and attentive. Clean restaurant. Nice decor. Nice views from our table of the river. A few stairs inside. Large car park. Hope to return soon.

Elliot our server was great helpful polite. Food was amazing lamb Sunday roast cooked to perfection. They were all very welcoming.

We have been to the Coy Carp on many occasions in the past and had a good experience. Unfortunately this time wasn't up to usual standards. We were celebrating my mums 90th birthday and she ordered the Halloumi Skewer. When this arrived the plate was placed in front of her and without a word of warning she touch the metal skewer and burnt her finger. The server said afterwards, we do say it will be hot, but it was too late. When a meal such as this comes out, if you are aware the metal skewer is going to be hot it should have a napkin or something wrapped round the end so as not to harm anyone. This is a health and safety issue which needs to be addressed.

Served by Elliot who was precisely the kind of person one would wish to serve you. He was courteous, attentive without being obtrusive and took great care to ensure everything was as we had requested - a real asset to the pub!

Had a really lovely afternoon at The Coy Carp on Sunday. Had booked for four but two dropped out, which did not present a problem at all and we were seated straight away. Had a great table and were looked after really well - all staff were friendly and helpful, especially Elliot who couldn’t have done more. Excellent menu, really is something for everyone. I had the vegetarian roast and my husband had roast turkey. Generous portions and everything was delicious ! Looking forward to our next visit : x

We took our 4 grandchildren tonight. Elliott served us and he was very good so the complaint Excludes him. One grandson said his mash was the worst he'd eaten so ate 3 small sausages. Other grandson tried the mash he said it was terrible. Kids food was pretty standard. My moroccan chicken skewer was overcooked, burnt on the edges but Elliott kindly took it off the bill. My husbands beer was flat. Just a very average meal not enjoyable and including drinks and wine £98. Wine was the best thing!! Won't be going back there any time soon.

We had a lovely meal at the Coy Carp today,we have not been in a number of years(to eat here)and I am pleased to see that it is still as good as it was and that it is still popular. It is such a perfect Pub,you cannot get a more spectacular location especially with the two rivers,the food is nice,the service is good and it is lovely inside. The decor is so lovely,it is so cosy and charming. The Pub feels like it has been re-done recently especially the toilets. The carpet was absolutely immaculate. The paintings are really nice too and add to the atmosphere. The real fireplace with an actual working fire in here something special,it is very enticing and creates a warm cosy atmosphere and environment. I would recommend you sit at the end of the bottom floor of the Pub if you can. The reason is because you get the most beautiful views of the river and you get to watch the cars go by. The service was fantastic too,the food took a little while to come but I understand that they were busy. The Staff were polite. The server(who was on their first shift)was really polite and did a fantastic job! Despite that it was their first shift they had a great knowledge on allergies and knew how to care for an allergy properly. This shows that the Coy Carp must give good training to the staff. The food was absolutely delicious,we only went for mains today but I had the 10oz Ribeye steak which was absolutely delicious,so tender,so well cooked and cooked precisely to my liking(well done(the type of Steak I had)). It had a lot of flavour too. I have eaten many Steaks at Restaurants in the U.K. and abroad,I can safely say that this is one of the best Steaks I have had in the U.K! The Mash was amazing too,I liked the leek inside the Mash and it really added to the flavour. The Mash was delicious and creamy. The Steak usually comes with Chips,tomatoes and a sauce of your choice. But because I am gluten free I cannot have the Chips so I went for the mash but it didn’t matter because the substitute of Mash was even better. The only thing that is not so perfect is the amount of Gluten Free choice. I am not expecting anywhere near the range of options that the Loungers restaurants or the Pho cafe have but I would like at least 20% of the menu to be gluten free or have a gluten free alternative. For mains on the Monday to Saturday there is a Steak or the Lamb Rump that is gluten free. Also on Smartchef(I know this place uses glass onion for allergens)they list the Halloumi and Pepper Kebab and the Chips as gluten free,whilst they are gluten free unfortunately they are cooked in the same thing as gluten containing food so don’t have your heart set on any options. It’s a shame that the Coy Carp(Vintage Inns)doesn’t have a lot of gluten free options for mains because Mitchell’s and Butlers(the company that they are owned by)also owns Brown’s brasserie and Miller and Carter which are fabulous for gluten free. They are even coeliac accredited restaurant chains! If M&B can do that with Miller and Carter and Browns I would like to see more options with Vintage Inns and the Harvester. On the other hand the Staff were really careful with my gluten allergy and handled it with utmost care and my food even came with a flag in it. The menu looks beautiful. Also with the Steak you can add an extra Skewer with the Steak so you can mix and match which I think is a good idea. I would highly recommended the Coy Carp. I hope to return sooner.
