Coviello in County Durham

What a lovely place! Great food- lovely pizza and pasta carbonara. Seating is rather close on high stools but this adds to the experience. A little chilly near the door. Excellent staff. Barber shop in lover floor. Great for casual supper or date night! Definitely will visit again.

We were looking for a restaurant in Durham and found this place early one Friday evening. The menu is not extensive but I would prefer to see a few dishes done well rather than lots of dishes done just ok! We ordered pasta, a pizza and the house red. The food and service was outstanding. We would recommend Coviello without hesitation.

First and foremost, food was very, very good! Pizza brilliant and Carbonnara was amazing! Only downside was where we were sat; right at the back, a little detached from the main retaurant. Overall though, a really good meal with very good service.

Laid back oasis right in the centre of town. Really friendly and helpful staff. Excellent pepperoni pizza and the carbonara was served with perfectly cooked fettuccine.

Staff was friendly. Place looked nice from outside. Went in for dinner. Drinks were fine. Not bad ambiance. Food (2 pasta dishes) was very so so.

I came here a year ago for my first date with my boyfriend, who I have been with now for a year! We always remember the mojitos we had a year ago and were absolutely amazed at the quality and talent of the bar staff! Highly recommend for a casual drink and a meal with a loved one! The atmosphere is also very Italian and I am always greeted with a “ciao bella” ☺️

We made a reservation for dinner during a weekend away in Durham. The table was booked a number of weeks in advance, and confirmed over the telephone a day before we visited. When we arrived, we were told there wasn’t a table available and that we would have to eat at a sofa. Other customers had clearly just been asked to leave the table as their possessions were still around the table. We asked if there was any other table available, to which the member of staff took the 6 of us over to a small table with 4 chairs and told us to “sit down around the table as best as we could”. The member of staff made us feel like we were being an inconvenience, and didn’t offer any reasonable solutions. We decided to eat elsewhere.

Decided to stop in Durham on way home to Glasgow. Wow busy busy busy. Last time I visited was about 10 years ago when it just rained. Wandered in to escape crowds and rest my broken leg. Straight off I felt at home. Titration la bonta d’Italia. Ordered espresso and grappa transported immediately to Napoli. Next time I’m staying for dinner breakfast lunch and a haircut.

Friendly service in a special location. a cozy Italian restaurant with a barber's salon in the basement. we got the best pizza ever and the Cannoli Siciliani for dessert is a must. We had a great evening and can only recommend this restaurant when visiting beautiful bustling Durham

This group of guys are fanastic, Alberto, Alex and Emiliano treat you like family and you can even have an extra treat with a haircut/shave from Philippo. Their wine tasting nights are an added bonus.

Service is always top quality and real Italian. Food is top of the range and great value. Alberto and Alex and the rest of the staff deserve massive credit for the quality they provide

Best wine and pizzas in town. Great little place to stop off and have a bite to eat and some drinks. Staff are excellent, always very helpful and proactive. Will certainly pay more visits.

Amazing tapas at lunchtime, rested our weary legs and found an amazing Italian the service was very good and the food was amazing and also sitting outside what more could you wish for

Superb, friendly welcome, quickly seated for just drinks, and quick service. Stayed longer (and drank a couple more!) than we planned, as we felt so comfortable. Would come back and try the food, looked good.

My daughter And I popped in for Italian tapas and wine at lunch time and the food was lovely. In addition our waiter was really friendly and helpful. I shall come again!

To be fair I was really disappointed how can an Italian business can call that a pizza I’m from Naples and I tried their pizza I hope there was not the real pizza maker yesterday cause it was orribile Like a frozen pizza of lidl with some oil on the top

Lovely il pranzo at Coviello. Authentic ingredients and menu, fab attentive service in a cosy atmosphere. All day venue serving breakfast, lunch,light meals, cocktails and wines. Constant buzz. Really recommend and will be back on our next trip to Durham

Visited this morning and the barista welcomed us right away and was very friendly and helpful throughout. Delicious pistachio croissant and cannoli.

Coviello is an absolute gem of a place in the centre of Durham. Run by friendly, happy, professional Italian staff, it's like actually being in Italy from the atmosphere and music to the amazing food. Excellent pizzas, tasty Italian sausage, divine pasta etc etc and...

Liked it so much we went twice! This is the closest you’ll get to being in Italy at the moment. Great coffee, an excellent Caprese salad and croissant, Italian music and good, friendly service. Really very enjoyable and highly recommended.

Called here today for the first time. Excellent haircut from Filippo and enjoyed a great coffee at the same time. I was made to feel most welcome, as was my Border Collie - Alberto and Gino have set up a fantastic business. Would highly recommend.
