very cozy and intimate bar in stirchley. many interesting cocktails and bar tenders are friendly and knowledgeable. drinks aren't too pricey as well. had a good time, would recommend and would come back

Popped in alone for a night cap and the staff were warm, welcoming and very well informed. I had the Viennetta from their current Nostalgia menu and couldn't resist a second glass!

The new menu is superb. The team were accommodating and well informed about my food allergy. An evening in Stirchley isn’t complete without going to Couch!

Went here early, 6pm on a Saturday evening. It was quite lively even this early, I could see people sitting in the garden. I chose to sit at the bar. I came to check it out, as a group of work colleagues were planning to have drinks here. We had heard good things and read some reviews. As I was by myself, I attempted to engage the bar staff in conversation, however, I felt that they were very reluctant to chat. There appeared to be some regulars at the bar as the staff chatted to them. The cocktails were pricey at £10.00 each, however I knew that before I arrived. I chose vodka based ones and as I was siting at the bar, I could see them being made in front of me. Both cocktails had unusual ingredients in them (unusual to me), the first one was nice and I enjoyed it, I didn't enjoy the second one, but that was fine, as I chose to try it. Two cocktails was my limit, so I went to settle up at the till. I was pleased that they took cash. Now in my book 2 x £10 = £20.00. However, I was utterly gobsmacked when the bill was £22.00. I thought maybe I had mis-read the prices, so I asked for clarification; that's when I got a nasty shock. I was informed that there was a service charge of £2.00. I couldn't quite believe that, a £2.00 charge for sitting at the bar! The person serving me could see my shock and I voiced it. I was then informed that it was a discretionary service charge and that it was 'common now in bars'. At no time I did I see this on the menu, to say there was a discretionary service charge. Then, while I was still voicing my shock, for some bizarre reason I paid the service charge, I think I paid it as I felt a sense of being ambushed. All the way home, I thought, what an idiot to have paid the service charge and I felt annoyed with myself and it made me view my experience of Couch negatively. I asked a couple of friends if they had ever experienced a service charge, when sitting at a bar, to my surprise they said yes, however they had refused to pay it. I reported back my experience to my work colleagues and we all decided not to go to Couch. We went elsewhere and asked first if there was a service charge, there wasn't. While I accept that the service charge was discretionary, I believe that this should be advertised transparently. It feels underhand to be informed at the very point of paying and leaving

What an incredible place. It came highly recommended, but I was still surprised how good it was. That's where the cocktails go to dream. We tried three and each of them was a unique sensory experience. The staff are amazingly friendly and professional, making the atmosphere relaxing and exciting at the same time. Special mention for the adorable dog (extra not on the list). I couldn't recommend this place more. I look forward to going back next time I'm in Birmingham.

While Cocktails are not necessarily my go to Couch cocktails amaze me every time with their creations. They are original and inventive with great staff. Their awards reflect the cocktails and service. It's worth a trip to Stirchley for Couch alone.

INCREDIBLE!!!! I love this place! The staff are so friendly and chatty. The drinks are unique yet delicious - definitely grab a bar seat if you can, you wont regret it! Our favourites were the Mai Tai and the Gambler. Thoroughly enjoyed the drinks, service and vibe. Thank you to all at Couch!

It’s not too bad - bit overhyped. Shame that the cocktails aren’t done fresh. Service is good, but it does have a 12% tip added on (10% on Net + VAT = 12%). And strange snacks - Mini Cheddars instead of nuts or something you’d expect.

Best cocktails I've had in my life! Unique, fun and delicious! We've been visiting Couch ever since they opened and the quality of the cocktails and the great atmosphere they create has never changed. Lovely welcoming team - we always bring our dog, and it's such a nice change from other places where you sometimes think you're an inconvenience. They shout his name from the bar and make a real fuss of him, which he adores! We love sitting in the garden, but the inside is lovely too! Overall just a great local cocktail bar - we're very lucky to have Couch on our doorstep!

Couch is such a great place to have on the high street. Great atmosphere - relaxed but still buzzy - and everyone who works there is always so friendly and cheerful! And the drinks are lovely, the only difficulty is picking just two (or three... or occasionally four) things to try off the menu.

Went there after a meal and really enjoyed it, very cosy and great cocktails I had a French Martini which was lovely then even though it wasn't on menu I asked for a Kir Royale and they made one for me lovely 🍸🍸

Couch is amazing cocktail bar, possibly the best in Birmingham. The whole place has a relaxed vibe that makes you feel like a local/regular regardless and the staff are helpful, friendly and non-pretentious 😁. The menu is beautifully layed out with clear descriptions of the cocktails, and a fun bit of art relevant to the drink. They have a relatively small front of house, but a nice large garden for overflow, both done out to a really high standard. If you haven't been, just go, you will either be back soon to introduce your friends, or will have some fantastic drinks

Small but classy cocktail bar. Five drinks down the hatch on my very first visit and the bill came up to just over £50 (£51.60 to be exact), can't get much better than that! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who can make you any cocktail in existence that they have the ingredients for, so if you're like me and already have in mind your go-to cocktails you can order straight off the bat with them. Will definitely be returning and making this a regular watering hole.

Couch is one of the best places to enjoy a drink in Birmingham. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and they always make you feel welcome. The cocktails are delicious and creative, and they have a variety of options to suit your mood. I visited on a Tuesday, and they had a special menu of five amazing drinks, plus they made me a classic Old Fashioned too. Couch is a gem of the independent scene, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves quality drinks and service. If you haven’t been to Couch yet, remedy that ASAP!

I don't really go to may cocktail bars but after a great day out me and a pal decided to have a look at this place. Such a small compact place which made the atmosphere ever better. Sitting at the bar, perusing the special menu me and my pal couldn't find a drink that took out fancy so we kindly asked the last if she could do us anything else. She instantly said I'll do you what ever cocktail you like. EXCELLENT 👌 I didn't catch her name, short lass with glasses. Have to say she knows her stuff. Hats off 👏 thanks for a pleasant hour of great cocktails. Will definitely be back.

Was so looking forward to coming here after grabbing some dinner down the road! Me and my friend headed over just after 9 for our last couple of drinks. (Never normally come out in stirchley but heard great things about couch so made the trip). Says online it’s open till 10pm on Tuesdays. Walked down to find it had shut early, really disappointing

Couch is one of the most successful bars in the West Midlands and they have proven their expertise with our visit today! Their menu is a great mix of experimental and contemporary. It offers interesting twists on classics and surprising flavours of balsamico, parsnip and pecan. Even though it is out of city centre, £3 and 10 minutes on the train will take you to Birmingham's most talented mixologists. Love it!

Small but perfectly formed. Good atmosphere, helped in part to the cosy environment of the bar. Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and drinks are well priced especially for what you are getting. Only gripe is that the menu on the website does not reflect what is on offer in the bar and the menu in store hasn’t changed in the last 2-3 months from what I can tell. Saying that, given how good the staff are, they can make all of the classics and anything that suits your taste preferences.

Totally understandable why Couch has not only been voted one of the best cocktail bars the UK, but the world! We were absolutely blown away by the expertly crafted cocktails and their unique and incredibly delicious flavours. Wonderful neighbourhood atmosphere, beautiful setting, brilliant playlist and amazing staff.

Been meaning to go to Couch for ages and finally managed to get some seats. Cocktail list comprised of their favourite cocktails from the last 3 years, and between 4 of us we worked our way through 7 of them. All superb, all working between flavour profiles with individual flavours clearly discernable. Staff friendly, professional and knowledgeable. There are about 10 stools at the bar, then seating for maybe 20 in the bar. Seating for maybe 40 out the back where they have heat lamps when it is cold

So lucky to have this place near us. Awesome place to nip in and have a cocktail.

Very nice and special cocktails. Cosy place for a night out. However, it's only walk-ins so you have to be lucky to find a sit. Had tried three times to get there before I manage to finally find a spot. Disappointing if you come from far away.

A must visit destination on the Stirchley Village experience. Also, if they look busy, don’t fret! The beer garden is heated. Overindulge!

Popped in after dining at nearby Yardbirds following a little tour of nearby Attic and Wildcat Incredibly friendly place with a warm and cosy vibe. Myself and my friend spent virtually the entire time we were there speaking to one of the staff about the cocktails and Ace Ventura (Don't ask!) As others have mentioned, it is a small place and can get busy but I think that adds to the appeal There's nothing to mark it down for, so it has to be 5 stars ! Hope to be in again sooner rather than later

Nice independent that you can stop off on your way to local restaurants. We wouldn’t stay here for longer than one drink, we’re not gonna start talking about our favourite tv shows to the barmen, it’s not a conversation starter. No happy hour it seems, so pretty steep but standard prices. Let’s not get smashed vibes, just cosy drinking pre or post restaurant meal. We recommend to sit outside on the terrace.

Never thought about writing a review for Couch because how do you describe a place so amazing? The drinks are outstanding, the bar staff so friendly and the music is always great! And that still doesn't do it justice, I want to give it 75 stars not 5! Can't wait to return for more and more unusual and mind-blowing cocktails

Loved the concept and its very nice in there for such a teeny place. But the drinks just didn't live up to our expectations. You practically get a thimble of drink for double the price of a normal sized cocktail in the centre of brum. One of the drinks had a massive cube of ice that was almost as big as the glass so just a dribble of alcohol. Of 4 of us only 1 was happy with his cocktail (the blackadder I think). Just very poor value, lots of better options in Stirchly so we won't be going back to Couch.

The best cocktail place in Brum hands down. The thematically changing menu is fantastically detailed, beautifully illustrated and of course, every drink is delicious and unique in its own stunning way. The space itself is lovely with the intimate indoor seating along the bar and some covered seating in the back 'garden'. The delicious drinks, excellent location and incredible service from the team make this a must visit on any Stirchley day out. Would give 6 stars if I could xoxoxo

We arrived around 2130 on a Saturday expecting to have to wait for a table for a little while, but we were immediately sat at the bar! This delectable bar serves you high quality, adventurous cocktails in a cozy cafe environment. Sip an expertly mixed pear and yellow bell pepper drink whilst admiring their cultivation of indoor plants and Pinterest-worthy decor. Don't get me started on the menu! Whilst is changes semi-frequently, each menu is specially crafted with a theme which is follows closely. The menu which is on its way out was themed after Iconic Women in Music, with drinks designed and named after crowd favourites such as Arethra Franklin, Annie Lennox, and Tin Turner. The ingredients are home-made, fresh and delicious! The bartenders will happily explain what you have before you with tasting notes and a little background to the ingredients used. Not to mention they are blasting banger after banger all night long!! Thank you for an incredible experience!

Excellent cocktail bar. We were lucky to nab a table on Friday evening before going out. A select musical-themed cocktail menu with some of the best cocktails I've had in a while. They also have a great mocktail and non-alcoholic cocktail list, & the espresso martini from that list is recommended. The Dusty Springfield is one of the best martinis I've ever had.

Visited Couch as saw a review for best bars and Couch was one of the Birmingham bars mentioned. Had to visit as close to where we live and nice to see Birmingham featured. Nice cosy atmosphere, excellent service and friendly staff. Beautiful cocktail menu that was a work of art. Love love love, fantastic music from all genres and had to get up to dance when Dancing Queen was played. Great night ten out of ten.
