The staff were good when we arrived ordered drinks which arrived shortly after ordering. Placed order for starter and main. Starter arrived which was very nice. We then waited 40 minutes after finishing the starter for the main. The chicken arrived cold , with cold mushroom sauce. My husband ordered a burger which was okay. We spoke to the waiter who said he would take away and get re-done , the waiter was apologetic and apologised for the wait. The waiter who was originally serving us was useless we needed to chase for drinks and was not interested when we complained about the delay and fact it was cold. The second waiter left the chips whilst our main meals were replaced. The food arrived but the experience ruined the evening. When the food eventually arrived it was okay but nothing special. We did not pay the service charge and would not go back - my recommendation to others would be to go elsewhere !

On visiting Canterbury we chose Cote. The menu was just what we were looking for. Our starter was a seasonal Pumpkin soup with roasted seeds, delicious followed by delicious main meals. Thank you to all for your service and food.

We have been coming here on and off for about 3 yrs now, but I have to say it’s really gone down hill. Staff are not that friendly, Although the meal was ok I had steak and my wife had the chicken from the al la carte menu, we where not even offered the fixed price menu so we thought it had finished.Only to find out on website that it is still on after arriving home . Food arrived and what I find really disappointing is the plates were cold. This place lacks atmosphere and there are plenty other cote restaurants around that are way above the standard here. Won’t be returning.

Dining out with family we expected more. Cote Canterbury is centrally positioned and being able to eat outdoors was such a treat. The staff were amazing although we did have to prompt for a couple of forgotten items. However, not for the first time the food didn't meet expectations. One of our party had chicken which was tough, the calamari was overcooked but worst of all was a barely warm Fish Parmentier. Sending that out from the kitchen was unbelievable. Of course it was returned and came back piping hot but the moment had gone as everyone else had finished and there was the concern that it had been reheated. We'll probably give Cote a miss now as this was their third chance!

Prices are quite high for a chain restaurant, but the fixed price menu is very good value. Food is nicely cooked and tasty. Our last visit was disappointing. The food was served cold and the portions very meagre compared to previous times. We did mention this to a member of staff, and we were all offered a free tea and coffee. Better than nothing, but it doesn’t compensate for a poor quality meal. We went on a Friday night, and admittedly it was busy. There were plenty of staff, but they did not know whether they were coming or going. We haven’t been back since. I would recommend trying this place, but if it looks busy then go elsewhere.

Charcuterie plate was not a selection of meats as the name implies - it was just Italian ham which was so rubbery it wasn’t edible. No butter and stale bread Soup lukewarm Chicken overcooked Green salad was just a pile of bitter parsley To be fair, they did give us a complimentary proper green salad **They are cutting their costs - bad decision, this customer is voting with their feet

My daughter took me here for my birthday lunch. We had the set 3 course menu which was great value for money. I even got a free glass of bubbly from one of the managers which was a lovely touch. Two friends and myself decided to have the Two course lunch menu of £17.95. I had the bass which was fine. my friends had the chicken and the steak which were both cold. The steak was so very thin and when we spoke to the manager replied, well it is a minute steak. Not a good attitude for someone in charge. We decided not pay the service charge which lead to a dicution, not far away from us, between her and another member of staff.

We had a voucher given to us at Christmas and decided that as we are going to France later in the year that we would use it at the Cote in Canterbury on our recent visit. To start, I am so glad that we pre booked as there was a queue when we arrived at the place was fully booked which is always a good sign. We were shown to our window table by a really friendly guy and all the staff which served us throughout the evening were also more than accommodating. The menu isn't overwhelming and there is just enough to have a good selection but not too much that it is hard to choose. We chose a charcuterie board and some olives which were pleasant but the breads and meats could have done with some balsamic or oils as they were extremely dry and probably wouldn't bother again. The olives were lovely but you would struggle to go wrong with them! I had the Salmon Bearnaise which although the salmon itself was pretty flavourless with no real seasoning, the sauce was divine and was tempted to lick the plate so as not to waste any of the flavour. My husband had the Confit Pork Belly which he thoroughly enjoyed and said was cooked to perfection. We weren't going to have a dessert but the Apple Tarte Tatin looked so tempting on the menu and liked the idea of a sharing dessert. It was delicious and the flavours of the caramelised apple, salted caramel sauce (liquid Werther's) & vanilla ice cream were just so perfect that it really did finish our meal off perfectly. We have another voucher and will look forward to sampling more from the menu at a Cote closer to us as overall it was an enjoyable evening out in a lovely atmosphere.

I was not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the steak tartare and the fish stew was good. The waiter was friendly and the total price of the meal including a soft drink was more than reasonable in these days of food inflation. I noticed the restaurant attracted some regular customers, A word of warning, the toilets are from memory two flights up. It burnt a few calories getting there and I enjoyed being nosey and observing the chefs at work with music on in the background. The location of the toilet reminded me of a Cafe Rouge in London. Upon reflection and unless I missed a lift or another toilet on a different level, the location of the toilet is not very accessible for people with disabilities or people of my age who might struggle with fairly steep flights of stairs. If I am back in Canterbury, I will search out the restaurant.

Didn’t get off to a great start , I was seated directly opposite a door. The door was constantly opened to get rid of the dirty dishes into etc. So not a great view when trying to eat a meal . There were plenty of other tables I could have been seated as there were lots of small tables available. The food tasted fine what there was of it, cote have cut down tremendously on portion size . This is compared to the portion sizes Pre Covid . I resent paying the service charge which I think the customer should decide whether to pay for on the basis of decent service . I thought the service was rushed & my observation after visiting this establishment is ,one or two of the waiting staff need to retrain in service, look clean & smart & give a warm friendly welcome . Pity the Maidstone branch was closed a few years ago it was a lovely restaurant with excellent service.

I saw French Onion Soup on the menu outside and it brought memories of a fantastic big bowl of soup with a generous amount of sliced french bread covered in a huge mound of Gruyère cheese. The memory was enough to send me inside and get a table for 2. The place was packed as it was lunchtime, we got there at 2.15pm. They do serve a 2 course for 14.95 but the choices on the menu are very limited so we opted for a la carte. I ordered the French Onion Soup followed by the Mushroom Stroganoff. My business partner also had the soup followed by a minute steak. When the soup arrived to say i was disappointed was a complete understatement. The portion size was the equivalent of 1/2 a tin of Heinz soup. It had 4 small cubed croutons not french bread as is traditional and was covered with 10 or 15 strands of grated cheese. 99.9% of other restaurants that serve this soup would serve it absolutely piping hot, so much so you have to blow on each spoonful to cool it to be able to consume it. There was no fear of that at the Cote. It was Luke warm, watery and pretty tasteless, certainly not worth the 8.95 price tag. My colleague agreed that it was a poor attempt at a stable french classic. There was a long delay before we got our mains. When they eventually arrived i was again surprised. The portion size was again small. The portion i was served would be akin to a child’s portion in any other establishment. The fact that it was served on a large plate underlined the meagre portion. The plate was cold which explained why the main was cold around the edges and lukewarm in the middle. The portion size was the same that you’d get if you bought a microwave meal for one where half the container has rice, but youre only served the meat part. Again definately not worth the 14.95. My colleague had a minute steak with frites. The steak was grey rather than brown and looked like it had been boiled not fried. A classic picture when the pan isnt hot enough when the meat is added. The frites were the same size as a small portion served in McDs. He said it wasn’t seasoned and overall was poor. I cannot remember if i have ever eaten at another Cote before, but I can happily say that in all my 56 years on this planet I havent eaten such poor food before. I wont be going back. We skipped desert and coffee and opted for a coffee at Pret just down the road. The coffee was accompanied by 2 baguettes!!!

Ate a pre gig dinner on a Sunday night. Restaurant was quiet, and staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive. Onion soup was as on a previous visit, OK but not great. The Calamari starter however was wonderful, delightful squid in a tasty crispy batter, neither oily not chewy, perfect. Large portion too. The Poulet Breton has changed, there now being two options, a simple grilled variety served with chips, watercress and a herb butter; and a version in a mushroom and cider sauce, with carrots and green beans. We tried both and thoroughly enjoyed it. The best part of the meal however was the tarte tatin for two, freshly cooked to order (15 min wait) this was quite simply divine. Thoroughly recommend this desert.

Been to a few Cote restaurants and really enjoyed them. Went with our disabled son. We are trying to increase his independence and got him to order his own food as the restaurant was quiet and not busy. We found the waitress surly, disinterested, couldn’t even raise a smile to her customers. Basically threw the sugar on the table when we requested it. Also bought no butter for the toast and we couldn’t get anyone’s attention to ask for any. Son has a life threatening oat allergy. Myself and him ordered the same item (which they made on two different breads -one without oats) and he was given the oat with bread. Thank goodness I noticed before he started eating and swapped our plates. And to add insult to injury, gratuity is automatically added to the bill. My husband paid without checking the gratuity. We didn’t want to leave a tip due to the poor service and potentially lethal and deadly serving of the incorrect food. Staff need to sort themselves out, surly, disinterested and with their face as long as anything I have ever seen. Will definitely not be returning.

I had the steak tartare which I nearly always have at Cote as it always good & my husband had the charcuterie board. From the Alpine menu we shared the delicious tartiflette, a tasty wholesome dish & dessert we shared the Pear Alpine Tart which was lovely. Overall a delicious meal with good service & ambience. We use Côte in Canterbury for numerous reasons. Groups of friends, pre théâtre dining or for breakfast. We had breakfast there last week and we are eating there tomorrow before going to the Théâtre. We would not be happy eating next to a dog. Certainly thought should be given for seeing blind dogs, but why do dog owners insist treating their pet as though they are human. If canine owners think that their pooch has a right to dine alongside of humans, then I could insist upon dining with a pack of savage wolves or a maddened grizzly bear. Keep those dogs out Côte.

We are regulars, and have been for many years. Service is always consistent & quick in nice surroundings. Visited yesterday and was a little disappointed. We tent to always order pretty stable items on the menu, I has steak frites, which is always lovely. It was a touch overdone as is usually served med/rare but I can forgive that. My husband has a burger, but the meat was tough, not very much cheese etc.On a weekday, they used to do a good value lunch menu. This doesn't look like it's available any longer, which given the pandemic I can understand things have needed to tighten up slightly but it did feel like that across the board. My steak usually comes with a watercress/pea shoot garnish which was missing. No big deal but it does smack of trying to tighten up. Staff as I said are always consistant and the food always come out very quickly, but after his disappointing meal by husband said how much is actually made to order and no pre-packaged etc.I'm not sure if we'll go back to be honest which is a shame. Nearly £70 for a couple of starters, drinks, and two not fancy mains was a lot.

Had an early evening meal , good service . The dubonnet cocktail to die for. Special mention to the waiters who carry the trays of food down 2 flights of stairs,.

Tomé un desayuno vegetariano aquí. A veces comemos carne.

We stopped to have lunch on a warm sunny September day and quite clearly, others had the same idea because it was busy. The tables are close together. Not much Covid precautions put in place here which didn’t make us feel entirely safe but fingers crossed we dodged the virus! The food was really tasty. I had the butterfly chicken with mushroom sauce and crushed potatoes and my husband had the steak frites with a side of tomato salad. Our meals we’re perfect! Will definitely order both again.

Friends suggested eating at Cote in Canterbury to make use of the £10 a head off. My wife also had an e-mail giving each person a welcome drink, so it seemed a good deal. Cote is I guess o.k. We use it mostly to meet other friends of my wife for lunch. The staff are slick and prompt and always at hand, but I struggle to actually enjoy whatever I choose to eat. This actual evening I tried their burger with or without cheese, I can't remember. That is how forgetful eating at Cote is for me. Food snob. But Cote is useful for the odd breakfast, useful for the odd lunch and useful for the odd evening meal. It is a fun brasserie---yes. But for serious dining you must look elsewhere. I notice someone wrote "to celebrate my partner's birthday". Well if I suggested Cote for my wife's birthday, I think that I would be eating alone. But for simply eating something, Cote is fine. And thanks for the free drinks.

Enjoyed a lovely meal here to celebrate my partner's birthday. Staying in Canterbury for 2 nights and dined here on night 1 after searching on trip advisor.COVID 19 precautions were taken seriously with staff wearing PPE and tables being socially distanced. Food was brought out quickly and was done to a very high standard. Thoroughly enjoyed 3 courses plus horderves and a glass of wine.Staff friendly and professional and I found the prices to be reasonable and a really good mid range restaurant. We will certainly be dining at Cote Brasserie again.

I had been to the Cote Brassiere for lunch previously and promised myself to return there for breakfast. I went with my husband and we both opted for the Eggs Benedict. Served my favourite way on a muffin, as usual I inhaled the dish and it was delicious. The eggs cooked to perfection, runny as I love themI found the staff friendly and helpful, especially when I discovered my jug of milk for the tea was off, as proved by it curdling in the hot tea cup. Apart from the rancid milk, the only other negative criticism was the small portion of sauce on the eggs. Seeing as how I'm trying to lose my 6Kg Covid belly I decided not to comment on that occasion.Did the tea put me off? You'd think so, but the food was scrummy, the staff professional and the environment a little bit special. As a result, I will be back.

Absolutely fantastic. George was fantastic FOH, very knowledgeable, welcoming and brilliantly dressed. Made us all laugh and feel very comfortable. Food came promptly and was delicious as always. We came slightly late and were the last table to leave and the staff didn’t mind at all, they were happy to accommodate us. It’s our favourite Côte restaurant and we always make excuses to eat here if we’re in the area. Highly recommend the pork belly (cooked to perfection, fantastic combination of flavours), crab mayonnaise (light with a great kick, very fresh), the goats cheese starter, forgotten what it’s called, but that was an all round favourite! Will definitely be back again and can’t thank the Côte team enough for looking after my family so well as per.

Another excellent experience at a Cote Brasserie restaurant, this time in Canterbury. The staff were very attentive, efficient, polite and cheery. The staff were all very COVID aware and fully adopted preventative measures. The food was up to it's usual very high standard. Well presented and delicious, with good portion sizes. A very pleasurable experience

We were pleased when Cote Brasserie re opened after the lockdown as we've always had a good meal here. The menu has changed 2 of my favourites - the fish stew & the steak tartare are no longer on the menu. So instead of fish stew I treated myself to the lobster which was fantastic, possibly the best whole lobster I've had, much better than any of the lobsters I've had in some restaurants in Whitstable.Buzzing atmosphere & the service was spot on.

The meal was very good, all 4 of us enjoyed our food very much. Service ok, restaurant was busy with the ‘eat out to help out’. They didn’t have several menu items left, and this was only 6 o’clock in the evening, but nothing any of us would have ordered. We left a tip for the waitress, but didn’t notice until I got home that a service charge had been added to the bill. I am happy to tip for good service, but I resent this being assumed. There was no option to remove it or otherwise draw attention to it on the card reader, nor was it mentioned that I could see anywhere else, so unless you check the bill and then dispute it at the time, it just appears as part of the bill. I found this annoying and sneaky. It’s a pity because the food is good and the staff were good enough to warrant a tip, and this issue made me not want to go back.

Went to Cot’e tonight food and waitress and usual excellent. However our table was booked for 7:30pm and the main courses did not arrive until 08:55. Waiting and watching I noticed too many tables and too many customers hence the long wait.I understand the need to make money but I did not feel safe. I would suggest you reduce the maximum number of covers and take some tables out.

This was our last meal and was made very welcome by Iona and her staff. We were treated in an exceptional friendly manner and the staff completely understood there responsibilities and showed great care in our treatment. The meal arrived quickly and was presented beautifully. It tasted just as good as it looked. It was a great way to enter this unsafe world and we left them feeling happy.

I had tea and scones. The scones were toasted, warm and crunchy and very delicious. The staff was also friendly and took many photos for me 🙏
