Cote Brasserie - Bishop's Stortford in East Hertfordshire

Warm welcome from staff on arrival. Servers were very attentive. Food came quickly & was lovely. Very tasty. Overall a very good experience. Would definitely go again.

We love our local Cote. We don't go too often, but it is always a go- to when we want a date night or when family comes to visit. The staff are beyond lovely, so friendly and welcoming and always make my family feel special when we bring them here for dinner. They are excellent about managing allergy-free food, too, with gluten free bread and a large gluten free menu.

Amazingly friendly and efficient service. Food excellent and could not fault it. When they over-heard it was one of our birthdays, they came out with a suprise. Thank you for a really enjoyable evening.

Visit on a regular basis. Sometimes just for coffee and others for lunch with friends. Good menu. They do only take cards for payment, no cash. Can get noisey when really busy.

Lovely cafe with a great menu. There is plenty of seating space, so you are not sitting on top of people. Waitresses are friendly and I found it a lovely experience and would definitely go back.

Found this place because it was out of the way from big city London and Close to Stansted Aiport. The waitress was super attentive and polite. The food was food and filling we had two of the Côte Burgers, charcuterie Board, fouginess (garlic Bread), Beef Bouginess and Mushroom Bouginess. l appreciated the place playing cultural music rather than some local station.

We had a very enjoyable evening and there was nothing we would change. It was relaxed and very comfortable with great food drinks and service. Thank you

I’m a stickler for cleanliness. Even if the food were to be garbage, a clean place would get my approval. Extraordinarily clean, even in the hidden corners. Food was well above average.

Went with family for my birthday. I was given a complimentary Kir Royale when we got there. We all had the set menu and loved it. Such good value. Staff were attentive, and good was lovely. Will definitely go back.

We went for lunch - staff were lovely; super friendly and helpful for dietary restrictions. Loved it - food was fabulous -GF onion soup - wow and the fish parmentier for me cannot recommend enough and my husband is STILL talking about the toulouse sausages in the diots and the beef bourgignon - we will definitely be returning - dinner next time! Thank you for a fabulous lunch 🤩 oh and the wine was great too - merlot 👍

We ate here this weekend. It took over 40 minutes to get our food, which was not acceptable. However, this is where the restaurant came through. The service staff considered this lateness in a significant reduction in our bill - it's great to see empowered staff focused on the customer. And the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend the fish stew!

Oh my goodness…Côte Bishops Stortford was amazing in hosting my sisters baby brunch at the beginning of November! Andrew the manager was incredible in the lead up to it, allowing the planning to run as smoothly as possible! They were so accommodating to our every need! And Christine was absolutely amazing on the day…she was kind, professional and attentive! Nothing was too much of an ask for her! Food and drink was fabulous and the congratulations pain au chocolate was an extra special touch! Thank you so so much Côte Bishops Stortford!

I recently dined at Côte restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The food quality fell short of expectations, with flavors that seemed lackluster and uninspired. The “fresh pressed orange juice” tasted exactly like the Tropicana, and took 1minute to be made. They must have a special machine hide in the kitchen. Additionally, the service was subpar, leaving the overall atmosphere feeling cold and unwelcoming. What further added to my dissatisfaction was the high price tag attached to the meal. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Côte, there are more warm and welcome places in Bishops Stortford

As a party of five we were a little disappointed- the restaurant only had one other table and then a large party in the back and despite this, they didn't accommodate us onto a nicer table (it was right by the entrance which they must have done to not make the restaurant look empty but was cold for us when the door was opened). We had booked Cote because of a birthday offer for a free bottle of Cremant- when we told the waitress she seemed disbelieving and scrutinised the email and then spent a while with her colleague before coming back to inform us it was okay (even though it was on the booking). The food was a little disappointing (the minute steak was bland whereas the chicken liver parfait was tasty) and we ordered dessert where they brought a chocolate mousse/ganache out for the birthday girl. We all thought the other had ordered it for her but no one had and they put it on the bill too!

A decent meal, well presented. Towards the end of the meal I did feel a little pressured to leave, even though the table reservation was for 1.5 hours, and it had been little over an hour. It wasn't enough to spoil the evening though, particularly as I was well aware it was a Saturday night and the place was filling up

Visited cote at Bishops Stortford early evening midweek and enjoyed a main course and dessert. The food was absolutely delicious and the service staff were friendly and professional. My one minor complaint was the volume of chatter, which was not the fault of people being excessively noisy but due to the tiled floor, which made everything echo.

This is a great place, No1 is the people. They are a really great asset to the business and exceptional people. The food and wine are excellent. Well worth the visit!

Fuimos a probar un desayuno típico Ingles y fue estupendo. Éramos 4 personas y pedimos solo dos, todo buenísimo y los camareros muy majetes. Probamos en otros sitios y nada que ver, lo recomiendo al 100%.

Very nice lunch in the sun in their outdoor seating area at the back of the restaurant. Good selection of food and a nice selection of French beers. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cheers..

Lovely spot, food and hospitality

Just updating my review. The Cote management took my comments seriously and showed they care about their customers. I think this speaks volumes for their brand and I have upgraded my review to four stars. I will go back in the near future.

16 April went for my partner’s birthday. Lady who “greeted us” was very cold. Although i booked a table and restaurant was almost empty she offered us a table in the darkest place of restaurant on walkway. I asked for another table if is possible. With bad attitude she asked where I want to sit then? Food average. Been In few Cote restaurants before in london (warder street, tower bridge) nothing near it. Waiter who served was very friendly and professional.

Great food, served hot as it should be...and very attentive staff. The Muscadet is excellent and very good value.

The new Monkfish Normande is to die for! Service was up to standard too, another very positive experience

The best place to eat in Bishops Stortford service is always impeccable and the tip actually goes to the crew.

I used to enjoy a meal at Cote and whilst they have worked hard at including a selection of free from meals its the staff that let's this particular branch down. They don't listen and some are quite opinionated

Great place for lunch. The staff are great and just the right amount of attentiveness. Food is good as expected. Disappointed they didn't have creme caramel on the menu but not a showstopper. Will be back again for sure.

Had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner. A special night for my wife and I , as it’s 14 years since we first met. Food and service were both excellent. Our waitress Nicole was very pleasant, professional and attentive.

The mushroom pâté was okish but the Moving Mountain Vegan burger was really really good, and I've tried a lot of vegan burgers, nicely cooked and well dressed too. Great easy going and friendly service also from Stephano, pleasure to be in your hands 👌🏼.

Lovely breakfast, good service. I don't like that they add 12.5% service charge! Check your bills as we were over charged us for two extra coffees.

We always have a fab time here, staff are very friendly with great wine recommendations. Allergies are always taken very seriously, Two great members of the team are the current pregnant waitress and the lovely manager. Hats off to the team at Bishop's Stortford!

Good food, but perhaps not up to the standard that one would expect relative to the price. I would describe the attention we received as polite but not not particularly friendly. I take exception to the 12.5% (albeit optional) gratuity being included in the bill. The decision of how much to tip must be determined solely by the customer and not as a recommendation by the provider.

Breakfast portion sizes are truly offensive. My 7 year old daughter received a spoon size amount of scrambled egg so can only assume it had been scraped off another plate being that it was not even a whole egg.

Our first proper meal out as a family for a while and it was brilliant. Food was on point, steak could have been bigger but was cooked perfectly. Special mention to our waitress Alex and her colleague Kasia both of whom went above and beyond. Thank you for your efforts and we all had a wonderful evening. See you again soon!

A no go place for us - chicken was not cooked as we asked and a very basic service - menu Shame really as place looks nice from outside ..

Good food - staff are very welcoming and attentive. Made us an iced coffee even though it wasn't on the menu. Set lunchtime menu is very good and reasonably priced. Have been before and will be going again.

Starter lovely. Main course a disaster! Chose 'lamb chops' ..the fattist chops I've ever had!. Asked how I wanted them cooked. I said 'medium'.No, came the reply.' You can have them rare or well done'. I chose rare.. and that's just what they were... blood rare and so tough!! To add to everything, we were given the wrong plates..so I received the well done ones to begin with.... Told the waitress we were not impressed.. but got just a shoulder shrug. Will think long and hard before going there again..pity, because pre-lockdown we were often eating there. rare!

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Service was excellent we didn't want to be rushed during our lunch with friends. Food as always great. Our only criticism is the use of Schweppes mixers. You sell top brands of Vodka why then only stock this poor choice of tonoic as these lovely vodkas deserve at better. FEVER TREE mixers are brilliant. Excellent service, fab food, will be returning

Cote Brasserie is an old favourite; not too pricey but reliably good food, with plenty of choices. I've visited several times, as part of a couple and also as a smaller and larger group. All times, the service is warm and welcoming and the food delicious. Of all the places we are missing at the moment due to COVID, Cote is definitely the one I miss the most and I am looking forward to returning in 2021!

Food is great and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Nice to have our pictures taken too on this special occasion. Look forward to relaxing in the ambiance of Cote next year !
