I booked afternoon tea here to celebrate my birthday with my family. There were 13 of us in total. I only booked a fortnight before, and had never in fact visited previously. I was pleasantly surprised, we were seated in the conservatory, with lovely views of the grounds. The staff, service, and food were all excellent. We all had a wonderful time. Thank you so much!

We had lunch here for my sisters birthday. Food was excellent, but service was appalling! We were the only ones in the restaurant and only one other party in the foyer, but service was very slow. I had sachets of mayonnaise almost chucked at me across the table whilst my sister had gotten hers in a small pot. And to top it all we were over charged. Don’t think we’ll be going back.

Restaurant itself is not particularly welcoming, bit cold and soulless. However, the service was really good (it was quiet though) and so was the food. There was nothing particularly exotic, but what we had was well cooked, fresh and had a good balance of flavours. Decent bottle of wine too. Wasn't even particularly expensive either. Breakfast however was awful.

We had the most wonderful experience at the Manor of Groves restaurant on Saturday evening. We were staying at the hotel and had booked dinner, bed and breakfast at a special offer rate. As such we were expecting decent but standard fare. The food was beautiful and well cooked but it was the service that really stood out and is quite unusual these days. From the moment we arrived for our reservation, we were treated like we were special and valued as customers, the staff couldn't have been more attentive. Unfortunately the steaks we ordered for main course which were chargrilled had that really strong chargrilled flavour which overpowered the flavour of the steak. We mentioned this and the young girl immediately asked if we'd like them replaced to which we said yes, that would be lovely. They were taken away and the restaurant manager came straight over to apologise that this had happened and she offered us a complimentary drink as it was going to take 10-15 minutes to cook it all from scratch. This they did by offering to pan fry the steaks instead. The steaks arrived with a couple of extra sides that we hadn't ordered and were cooked to perfection. I cannot compliment the staff enough, I wish I had got their names but they were all wonderful. At breakfast the next morning I heard other members of staff interacting with the guests in much the same way. Congratulations Manor of Groves, you obviously have an excellent way of picking your staff in general or your training is top notch. Keep it up. We'll be back. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Lovely building a superior room... no hot water. Told the reception team and they just smiled politely. Yes??? And??? Anyway only there for one night so left it at that and had tepid warm showers. Dinner was nice. Drinks rather pricey and the reception area bar was not really ideal for an intimate night out. All open plan and noisy. Overall an average stay.

Although we only stayed overnight I really enjoyed this my stay here. Of you plan on staying on a DBB package, and have afternoon tea, make sure you have a big enough gap between meals as we struggled to eat dinner. Perhaps have afternoon tea the next day😊. Although it goes against my second copy of coffee rule (the old adage the second cup is never quite as good as the first), I would give it a second visit as I loved it!

We were surprised at the high quality and good portion sizes of our dinner at Manor of Groves' restaurant. Our needs were pampered too and the food was first class in terms of presentation, taste and size. We a(s 8) came on a Sunday golf package and would recommend its excellent value. A 3 course would normally cost under £28 currently. It buffet breakfast was better than average too.

It was a quiet Sunday night, just a few people eating in this modern brasserie. Lacks ambiance. Staff did not seem that interested in providing great service. As it turns out from other meals / experiences at the Manor Of Groves, we think the staff are not very well trained and or managed. The food was OK rolls were cold, starters were decidedly average, fair play the main courses of roast pork and chicken supreme were pretty good and very filling. Whole meal was pricey. We went for a curry on the second night!!

We booked a half board room at the manor of groves the room was dark, dated and pretty sad looking, we was welcomed by a massive hornet flying round the room and broken springs on the bed. Food was ok the lamb starter was just cold and a load of lamb shoved in a ring to look better the chicken main was beautiful, staff were friendly and welcoming the restaurant it's self could be made better felt like I was sitting in a gang way and after we relised the bar menu was more to our taste, it is an old building but it needs a revamp in some areas

Went to Manor of Groves to celebrate our wedding anniversary - our children gave us a voucher so the whole package was paid for in advance. The evening meal in the restaurant was not a pleasant experience in the least. Seated in restaurant at 7 pm - by 8.30 pm we had only been served our starters. Waited over 30 mins for starters to arrive only to find two large pieces of gristle and a chunk of bone in the terrine. Our plates took 20 minutes to be cleared away. Then waited for main courses, and waited and waited..... Managed to get the attention of one of the waitresses to enquire about our mains - she said she would check with the kitchen - she went away and failed to return. At 8.30 feeling very disappointed (and hungry) flagged down a waiter who was taking orders at an adjoining table to again enquire as to whereabouts of main courses. Whilst we were sitting waiting for our food we saw plenty of plates of food leaving the kitchen to be taken to one of the four private parties the hotel was hosting that evening including two weddings. The waiter informed us of the fact that the hotel was hosting these functions, we were given no warning at check in that service in the restaurant could be compromised because of these functions. Did the hotel not think it should have increased its staffing levels for that evening? The waiter returned to our table to inform us that our meals "were just being plated up" and would be with us shortly. At 8.40 pm we finally got our main meals but one was barely warm. By now we were so disheartened that we left at 9 pm without bothering with dessert or coffee. Two hours for two very disappointing courses. Needless to say that our anniversary was spoiled because of this experience, we had travelled some considerable distance to spend the evening at this hotel. The restaurant manager spoke to us the following day, she said she could not offer a discount because of the pre-paid voucher and "because we were not local" there was little she could offer in recompense. We were given a verbal apology but that really was too little, too late.

Quite a few things to list.We booked this stay on Saturday, 30th April for a stay beginning on 1st May and as expected, received confirmation of the reservation. When we arrived to check in, I was informed that the hotel did not have a reservation under my name. I showed them my booking confirmation and they told me that their reservations team doesn't work at the weekend, so they wouldn't have had the booking on the system, but luckily they did have a room available despite being very busy. Had they not had a room, I would have been in a situation where I had already paid for a room at a hotel unable to accommodate me. I don't think you should allow late reservations for hotels that may not be able to accommodate them.We then went to our room, left our bags and went for a swim. By the way - the hotel should not be listed as having a spa - it was more of a standard exercise pool and not a spa at all. After our swim, my partner went back to our room and I popped up to the front desk to ask to make a reservation for dinner. They told me that I hadn't yet checked in - impossible as I had access to our room! Had someone else arrived and they had been allocated our room, a complete stranger would have been in our room with our belongings. After a bit of fuss, they managed to sort the check in and booked us in for dinner for 8:45pm - the earliest they were able to do.We duly arrived at 8:40 and went to the bar to get a bottle of prosecco. We signed for the prosecco and went to the restaurant, where we were told the table wasn't yet ready and to take a seat. We then waited for 20 minutes (which ordinarily wouldn't be an issue, but as it was such a late dinner slot we were pretty hungry!) before being shown to a table. My partner pointed out to the waitress that we had a bottle of prosecco, and she agreed that it was fine to bring through to our table with us.It took us around a minute to decide what to eat, as the menu is extremely limited. We ordered starters and mains and the starters took around 20 minutes to arrive, at no point were we offered bread which other tables in the restaurant were provided. Starters finished and mains arrived, and about a quarter of the way through I found that I had been given far too little gravy. I then spent 15 minutes trying to get the attention of a member of staff to ask for more, all of whom seemed to be deliberately going out of their way to ignore eye contact. When I did eventually manage to get the attention of a waitress, she came back with a tiny amount of extra gravy and told me the chef is quite stingy.Following these two courses, we decided against desert and asked for the bill. This came very quickly, but they had added the bottle of prosecco on that we had already signed for at the bar. We again tried to gain the attention of a member of staff to no avail, and after a further 15 minutes of trying to do so, decided to go up to the front desk. We showed the lady the error on the bill, who then questioned whether we were telling the truth (despite being the very same lady we spoke with on our way in!) She did eventually correct the bill.We then went straight to bed, tired after a long day out, only to be kept awake until 2am by loud music from what seemed to be a party going on in the next door room. At around 8am, music started up again, although this time it was from the fitness studio next door, blaring out loud dance anthems for people joining an exercise class.Deciding there wasn't a chance of getting any more sleep, we decided to go for breakfast. The man at the restaurant desk tried to then tell me that my booking was only for 1 person and it would cost an additional £15 for the extra breakfast! I clarified with him that this was not the case, and that the original booking had been for two people. After a little argument, he did then check with reception who confirmed that the booking had always been for two people. The only good thing about the stay was the breakfast was quite nice.Thankfully at check out the bill was correct and they didn't try to re-charge us for the room, but that didn't improve the experience at all.

I stayed at the hotel with friends last week and i can honestly say after eating at the restaurant, i wont be eating here again. When the waitress came over, approximately ten minutes after seating us she gave us menus for the previous week. Other customers pointed this out so she went round changing everyones and while she was collecting ours we also asked to see the bar menu. The waitress forgot to bring this over and came over with the new menus, so we asked again. Then she turned up with bread, and no bar menu so we again asked for the bar menu. This didn't show up. Another waitress then came to take our order and we explained we had asked three times to see the bar menu, to no avail! Eventually we got the menu and the majority of us ordered our mains from this. The pate starter was nice, but the three little pieces of crostini bread was not enough for the pate portion given. I ordered the chicken and chorizo burger from bar menu, expecting to get a chicken breast fillet with slices of chorizo on top. Oh how silly! I got a blended iceland type processed burger, which due to the chorizo was offputtingly pink... I couldn't face eating it because it feels wrong eating pink chicken. My friend also found several hairs in his dinner and couldn't stomach eating his.Overall the food was average but the service extremely poor, which would be understandable if they were busy but apart from our group of 5, there were two couples.... So its not good enough really.

Had breakfast here for a week and it was a pretty good selection I can recommend the porridge (boringly) as it is freshly prepared and you get plenty if that's your thing. Had one dinner here and the staff were very friendly and the food was very nice indeed. We did end up falling into that trap of ordering wine by the glass thinking we were only having one and then drinking nearly two bottles, it would be nice if restaurants saw that you had a bottle and offered to do the bottle price but it was out own fault.

Sample menu on the hotel's website looked so promising but the reality on the day (the occasion of my 60th birthday) was a terrible disappointment.Starter: Leek & Potato soup - very ordinary.Main Course: (more) Leek & Cherry Tomato Risotto - not something I'd choose but the only vegetarian option. Prepared to give it a go, but almost lost the lining of my mouth in the first forkful as, whether by accident or design (to add flavour?), they had completely drenched it in Balsamic Vinegar. The taste was so acidic I had assumed it was salt initially; whatever, I couldn't taste anything at all for an hour or so afterwards. Needless to say it was sent back.My pescetarian partner had ordered Coley, which arrived sitting in an overwhelming mass of cous-cous: a daunting quantity for the average appetite, not to mention rather boring.Add inconsiderate parents' noisy brats to the mix and the whole experience rapidly deteriorated into the stuff of nightmares ........ Service was good and I felt sorry for the rather embarrassed waitress. Should have been the chef who collected his ill-conceived blunder.

We stayed at the Manor of Groves on a deal which entitled us to a meal in the Brasserie so the cost was included within our stay. The restaurant area is just off the Reception area but secluded enough for this not to be a problem. The set out is a little tight with the table very close together and the chairs are a little too soft and low so when you sit down you do have to reach up to the table to eat, or at least that's how it feels. The food is quite specialised and for fussy eaters like my wife it was difficult to find something she thought sounded OK. Settled on the salmon roulette for a starter followed by pheasant. Both were very nice it must be said. The waiting staff were all quite young and seemed a little flustered but did a good job nevertheless. Not sure what they think makes this a French style brasserie though.

Four of us had an excellent meal here on Holy Saturday - a day when one might have expected the restaurant to be very full (it was later on), but we were not hurried at all. Our starters were delicious and the main courses cooked to perfection. The suites were tasty and just the right amount. However, the service let the meal down badly. Our wines were just plonked on the table - no taster poured to try and no wine at all poured by the waiter. We even had to ask for extra glasses for the red - I think we were expected to drink to white and red from the same glasses! Equally the beautifully cooked and delicious vegetables were just placed on the table - nothing was served to anybody. We were even expected to go to the bar to pay our bills by credit card, rather than having a terminal bought to our table. A splendid meal let down by this poor service!

We had such a warm welcome from Justina and our server/waiter Charlie couldn’t have been more attentive and helpful. The right amount of time between course, which were delicious, without us having to look around and wonder where our food was. We had the best evening and once again we’re not disappointed with anything at all from the splendid Côte team to the great food and the new cocktails were pretty good too. Try the Passion Paris !! Thank you Côte. If you haven’t been there please try it you will go back again I promise.
