Stood at the counter waiting to be served and give my order for a good 3 minutes while the two girls working just stood and chatting completely ignoring me. Ended up leaving without being served. Was great 👍

More expensive than other costs.with 3 staff who never stopped talking to each h other while serving me won't be back to this one for sure

Was there today 20th April between 12.00 and 1.00 and the two ladies who were working there and served me were amazing and really helpful. I accidentally spilt my hot chocolate and they came over straight away and cleared up and were so nice about it. Wish all your staff was as polite and helpful. Shame I didn't get their names. Can you thank them for me.

My 87 year old mother (in a wheelchair) and I selected sandwiches for toasting and, 10 minutes later, as we approached the till we were told we couldn't have them as the store was closing in 20 minutes due to a lack of staff and a plumbing issue! I'm not surprised you're unable to recruit staff for this appalling place. Awful! We won't be returning and will be talking about this for some time.

Just want to commend the staff at knights park costa .....I work in the retail.park and go in daily. They are currently understaffed and working many hours yet still with a smile on their faces, some days not able to take a break. Though sadly today I've witnessed some very rude customers who should really take a second and think before they speak so unkindly to these young people it's uncalled for and they should be ashamed. So those that read this please in future just take a minute and think do I really need to be a Karen today. Knights park costa staff if your reading this your doing great 👍

Told to leave after we walked in with an elderly (14 years old) dog in a push chair. Staff couldn’t answer why having a dog in a push chair was any different to a child in a push chair given that our dog can’t walk so wouldn’t touch the floor at any point. Given the percentage of households with a dog now, it’s incredibly outdated to not allow well behaved dogs in. Go to Starbucks over the road, they welcome dogs :)

Step at entrance. Probably a listed building. Accessible toilet. Parking outside plus bus stops outside. Good selection of sweet and savoury items.

On a walk to relax and clear my head when not feeling great it was lovely to pop into the Market Square store in Saffron Walden and be greeted by such a lovely friendly crew for a takeaway coffee. I was served by a girl named Emily and she made me feel like a real human customer. Well done Costa, you have a great crew here.

market square costa review. As a regular customer i find it hard to understand the negative reviews,the staff are friendly, polite and chatty( jordan in particular is always welcoming and friendly and makes exceptional cappuccino's and latte's) the coffee shop is in a great location on the market square and has a nice chilled out atmosphere inside.I find the negative filthy remarks unjust as it has always been clean on my daily visits.There are regular mother and baby groups in the afternoon so i would assume they would go elsewhere if it was filthy as quoted by some. The baristas are knowledgeable and make great drinks and theres also a great selection of hot and cold foods and obviously the cakes are very nice to. We shall continue to return and enjoy the friendly customer service, great coffee's and cakes and welcoming atmosphere.

Our first time at this costa, and we will never return. The soya latte was watery, flat and disgusting. We left most of it. Very disappointed!

Popped into the shop on Sunday and ordered a panini and pasta which was cooked. Upon collecting the items I asked if they had definitely placed a fork in the bag to eat the pasta which they said yes and hurried me out of the shop. Found out they hadn’t and had to improvise. Not good service especially as it wasn’t too busy.

My general impression is that the service you get depends on who happens to serve you and when you visit. I've had porridge served in a bowl, on a plate with a serviette; equally, recently, I had it served on one occasion still in the container used to microwave and left for me to empty out into the bowl - and no serviette. Consistency of service is therefore very variable. Last week they were serving toast but had run out of any spread - no butter or sunflower spread at all!

Yes it is a Costa, yes it is the same offering. But this cafe overlooks a marvellous old small market square and is served by very friendly staff.

It's a nice place to sit down and work, relax or just drink your coffee/ hot chocolate/ cooler. The staff are really friendly and get to know your order quickly once you become a regular- and some dietary requirements you need regarding a drink they will take that on board and adapt the product to you; such as replacing milk with soya.

This is the second time that I have gone to Costa Coffee since it moved. I don't like to write a negative review but I really would not come here again. The attitude of the staff was one where they don't really seem to care if you come in or not. The coffee was not very nice, there was no saucers for the coffee cups and it was not very welcoming. One improvement was that this time we were given serviettes, where as previously they did not seem to be giving them out, even when ordering cake . There are other lovely coffee shops to choose from in Saffron Walden so I am surprised to still read these bad reviews.

I'm glad i didnt read the previous reviews before going into this Costa or we wouldn't have stayed.We just ordered 2 coffees. Service was fast & my husband enjoyed the fact that he was given a choice of coffees to choose from. We both enjoyed our drinks. While we were there staff was observed clearing and cleaning tables.

This is my local Costa, unfortunately. I’m forced to kill an hour here each week whilst waiting for my son and this is the only place still open. I also come occasionally on weekends with my family because my children like the toasties!The serving area in particular is disgusting - dirty, cluttered and disorganised. It definitely does not get cleaned daily. There is a build up of dust and dirt. The coffee making and milk warming facilities are disgraceful. Cleaning cloths are filthy.One of the baristas is very sloppy - she’s scruffy, dirty and her self presentation is not good for someone in a service role. She chucks your order at you carelessly. It’s really like she can’t be bothered to be there at all! Perhaps I’m just unlucky that she’s working on the night that I have to visit!If I had a choice to go elsewhere, I would! I think in the summer I’ll be bringing my own flask and sitting on The Common!!

Popped in today for a drink and cake, slow service but mostly what prompted this review is that the place is filthy. Whilst waiting forever to get served you get the chance to have a good look at the serving areas and they are disgusting. I work in catering and know the difference between a days build up of dirt and this has not be cleaned properly for weeks. Not rushing back!Head office should be disgusted.

6 of us popped in here to warm up with a nice hot drink, wish we hadn't bothered. The service was disgraceful and the drinks were literally room temperature! All of them were luke warm. What a disappointment

Popped in for business meeting. Staff friendly and efficient. Plenty of room nice setting on edge of the square. Cappuccino was good and nothing to fault it would go again

Since last in Saffron Walden, Costa has re-located to the market square.

Just walked out of this place. Making allowances for being a Saturday and being busy but it was disgusting. There were vacant tables but they were piled high with crockery debris as was the milk and sugar stand. Went to another chain just down the road and all the tables were clean! Sorry Costa not a good show today

Just popped in for some lovely toast after driven from newmarket. Visited the washroom, no paper, so when i was at the counter I advised the young lady who dropped everything and attended the toilets. Are u going to wash ur hands before u serve me? Apparently one doesn’t need to do this! Also no toast because the person who works the toaster isn’t in

We visited costa on a Saturday afternoon. The queue was out of the door, they were making best efforts to serve but you could tell they were disorganised. The staff member serving on the till couldn’t remember who had ordered paninis. The coffee machine was filthy and they were reusing pots which clearly needed cleaning - very unhygienic.

Super hot day. Car thermometer read 33.5 degrees Celsius. As lovely as it was explore Saffron Walden on foot, Costa was a great stop for a cold drink and some air conditioning. Enjoyed a cheese scone which I asked staff to heat up.

Went for an afternoon tea for my family. Comfortable seating, great friendly staff, pleasant muffins and drinks. Not cheap and the crockery wasn't the cleanest, but we had a nice time.

First visit since the shop re-located, the was a queue literally out of the door. The new lay out doesn't allow much room for a queue. There were 2 young girls serving at a snail's pace I waited 10 mins in this queue and move only about 3 people along...at this point i left as I had to go to work...hopefully it will get better with time

If you like sub standard coffee accompanied by the whiff of full nappysacks look no further. Saffron Walden could do better than this. Tired and boring.

Metimos en una taza rápida - era el típico bog de corriente estándar aburrido no hay mucho que contar! El café era media - tenía que esperar años! La limpieza del lugar es dudosa, especialmente los aseos, realmente no hay mucho más que decir!

Experiencia decepcionante. Nuevo (no bien entrenado? Sin personal) habilidades de servicio al cliente. Señaló las tazas estaban sucias (tenía una película de té mancha que habían lavado correctamente). Este fue impugnada, así que tuvimos que coger un pañuelo limpio y limpiar para mostrar que era. Sentí que era mi culpa. Bandejas (como en muchas Costas) están sucios - nunca te parece que limpiar con un paño limpio o blanqueados. Sólo pobre para una cadena hotelera cadenas.

Un nivel de costa con un ambiente agradable en el centro de la ciudad. Problemas habituales con limpieza básica (migas abundan en las superficies como si una onda de un paño es suficiente). Dicho esto (y sus impuestos esquivando rivales Estrellas * ucks fueron los té y café abierto en las articulaciones una tarde encantadora primavera domingo, todos los independientes están cerrados durante el día. Ah, en Inglaterra de un domingo. . . .

Con tantas tiendas de café de la ciudad de la Costa parecen haber perdido el límite en el mundo cambiante de las casas de café, parecía que de sándwiches temprano, con muy poca variedad. No sé si cambió el café mezcla aeh, pero no tan bien como solía ser.

The usual Costa in a nice town just to the south of Cambridge. The staff were particularly good and welcoming.

Costa, you walk in and get exactly what you're expecting every time. Some might find this a negative, personal I want just that, no tales of the unexpected. Good coffee, good prices, nice and comfortable seating.

I'm always drawn in here, I prefer the coffee to Starbucks, the cakes are good too, the staff friendly and the atmosphere good,best avoided if there are lots of mothers and kids though. Costa is expensive but what coffee shop isn't goes with the territory. Just get a coffee and read the paper, I do and possibly a white chocolate and raspberry muffin as well. Since its been refitted it seems there are less places to sit though..

I work very early one day a week so thank goodness for good coffee. Staff are very friendly and always make my coffee to perfection!! Food is always tasty and fresh when I eat here too. Nice clean place to eat and family friendly.

If you live in Southern Europe the cost of an espresso in the UK comes as a bit of a shock. We pay a few cents for an espresso or two, not a few pounds. But that's what everyone charges in the UK, so that's not a complaint, just an observation. There was a good choice of cakes and snacks and the service was friendly. I am just pleased I don't have to buy my daily coffee 'fix' in the UK.

Frequently use this coffee shop, its always busy and sometimes difficult to sit down, it has all the usual Costa 'stuff', friendly staff, comfy place to sit read the paper and drink coffee. I suggest sitting in the window sip an americano and watch the people of Saffron Walden go by..maybe a raspberry and white chocolate muffin as well.

Efficient, friendly service and perfectly placed for the new bookshop in town. Costa has recently been refurbished along with the staff. Great location.

My sister and I went to Costa to grab a quick coffee for the journey home.I ordered off of the beautifully thought out christmas menu. My sister ordered off of menu and the lady (Chloe) serving us on tills specially made it for her. she was very friendly and couldnt do enough for us, she then laughed with my sister and joked about making a new drink. Chole fully brightened our day! from a not very successful xmas shop day to coffee from chloe. Customer service = Faultless

Being a coffee addict i've spent many an afternoon working from Costa. The wifi works well, the staff are really friendly and always smiling. Exactly what you would expect from a coffee shop in Saffron Walden.

We visited this coffee shop yesterday and were very impressed by the excellent customer service from the two staff on duty, Charlie and Holly. Their interaction with the public was efficient, helpful and cheerful and service was fast. We were also extremely impressed by their attention to detail when cleaning the shop at the end of the day and generally noticed that the whole place was looking much fresher and cleaner.

I always visit Costa when I am in Saffron Walden. It gets busy on Market Days (Tuesdays and Saturdays). The staff are usually very efficient and food and drinks are up to the standard one expects from Costa. The shop is located just 100 or so yards from the Market Square. My only complaint last time I visited was that tables weren't being cleared as customers left and a lady on the table next to mine had to ask a member of staff to clear. Also a staff member left the back door into their bin area open so we were sitting a few feet from the waste bins. I must add that this is an exception because usually the service is very good.

Service a bit slow as we hit a bit of a surge period around 11:15 but found a seat inside and enjoyed great coffee and shared a bag of mini muffins in a surprisingly interesting atmosphere for a national chain. Place was busy and buzzing with wide range of customers from multi tasking young mums to more mature couples and including teens and singles. Wall prints conjured up Italian style ambience and seating was comfortable and reasonably spaced for a relatively small establishment. All for a price much lower than we usually pay on the motorway. Toilets could be cleaner and tidier but have seen much worse and they were at least on site.

This Costa is as one would expect and is not really any different from most other Costas. A positive is that you can sit at the window and watch the world go by. Personally I think it is overpriced (although the coffee is good).

I like the atmosphere at Costa Saffron Walden. It is usually very busy which is a recommendation in itself. I often wait here while my wife visits the shops. It is also a popular venue to meet friends. There is nothing to dislike.

It's only a small Costa and not much room for a buggy but the hot chocolate was nice and good service.

so you rather get what you expect. Saffron Walden's yummy mummies and offspring stocking up with cake and coffee in between ballet lessons etc. Service friendly, toilets clean, coffee good. Yep, just like most Costas.

I like Costa's coffee, so I go here sometimes.They never have enough staff, so ther is always a wait. Tables not cleared enough. The loo is horrid, mould on the extractor fan and grime by the pipes. On the plus side, the staff are always cheerful. Come on Costa management, you could do so much better.

Regularly go here as I like Costa's style of coffee. I've been to better laid out Costa premises but this is limited by small premises so it's a bit pokey and dark. Previous comments dwell on issues I would have to say I have echoed especially regarding cleanliness and staff attitude and barista skills; all have definitely improved.Not much you can do about unruly children. Just don't go in school holidays or get takeaway.

There is nothing that beats Costa Coffee in the UK in my humble opinion but the Saffron one seems to have some slipping standards, the barristas did not seem as confident or well trained and above all the place just did not seem clean this visit. Usually the place is spotless but it just appeared raggedy and dirty on this visit, sure its a temporary glitch and they will get it fixed, the young staff were polite and friendly.

I've been a regular here while working in Saffron Walden (around 3 months now). I find the coffee very good, the staff very friendly and the service fairly typical for a Costa (or for most coffee places, come to that). When the place is full there can be a wait, but that's the cost of made-to-order coffee - if you want instant service, buy a jar of Nescafe ....!

The team here are not that brilliant getting help carrying drinks to table is difficult and the drinks are ok but the problem is when the branch is busy service slows to a crawl and this also means people needing help may struggle to get the help they need.
