Busy at most times, but the queues move quickly, the seating area can be crowded, and tables cluttered with cups and food wrapping paper left behind. more readily available bins would help instead of the in store ones hidden from sight ordering boards help, but 2 leads to a waiting queue to use

The people that work here are the rudest people I've ever met. Telling elderly customers to use a screen with no offer of help, leaving other customers to pick up the pieces and assist them. The food ordering system is horrendous. The process for ordering an item such as Sausage Bap or a Cheese Toastie is: Order at the machine Pay Pick up the item from the fridge Hand it to a member of staff Wait Bearing in mind there are no instructions regarding the above, it really is anyone's guess. You'll soon be told if you've done it wrong of course, by a very unfriendly staff member. I think the staff here need to be reminded of where they actually are, in a Hospital, yes it's busy, but that's no excuse for the terrible service that they offer.

Food good when not overcooked. Staff often select wrong settings for toasting/warming up food. E.g breakfast rolls. Food is then very burnt as cooking for too long. Latest issue was 3am 24/05 - staff member selected a toastie instead of my product. My product was cooking for a lot longer than needed and was very burnt, staff member did not notice/care and packed it up for me to take. Photos attached

Doesnt even deserve a 1 star, Visited costa last night around 8.15pm after a stressful day and went to the counter to order a few drinks. We was told by a lad to use the machines, I explained that I preferred not to and they were also very dirty which you could clearly see. Everytime I asked can I just pay at the till, he and another girl said 'use the screens'. Of which I walked to the screens and half of them were already half way through orders and just left, I tried one machine got half way and it froze, which them made me realise why they were all left with half orders, we them asked again can we pls just order t the till. They were both like 'use the screens'. I just want to point out we was the only customers there and they were only stood there giggling and chatting anyway. If the screens were an only option which we still didn't get an answer about then maybe they could've offered to assist. We then said 'the screens arent working so don't bother'. And we left. Of all the places to work, surely training to work in such a place with a bit of understand and sympathy wouldn't of hurt them. Such poor customer service and I now realise that from looking at the other reviews. No one chooses to be at hospital, but having to deal with this after a stressful week really annoyed me last night. Clearly some staff don't want to work and most definetly don't deserve that job.

This place is run by a group of about 10 teenagers, and it's a different set of teenagers every day. If you're going to get a coffee there you might want to consider taking half a day of annual leave. That should just about cover the time it takes to get served. I assume this is another one of those 'Brexit Dividends', whereby - instead of being served by competent Eastern European staff - you are getting good native British children doing the job instead; unfortunately at about 10% the speed.....

I have been a costa member for more then a decade now and first time ever I felt was the worst experience I ever had at a costa coffee shop, I went there and picked up a all day breakfast wrap stood in the que until I went to the till and the girl at the till asked me if I'm paying cash and I, she told me to go back and order it on the machine where there was a que already so I decided to put the wrap back and walked away. even though they have so much staff out there she could have easily done the order and it was Sunday not even a weekday.

I went to the 24 hour Costa in the local hospital as I had to go to A&E for a checkup. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely recommend after a stressful bust to A&E at night.

Stopping for a quick coffee at the Costa in Addenbrooke's Hospital was like stepping into a surreal parody of a coffee shop. Picture this: their new electronic purchasing screen – the brainchild of someone who clearly hasn’t used a TESCO self-checkout or a McDonald’s kiosk – is as intuitive as quantum physics. We ordered our coffees to have in, naively expecting the usual crockery. Instead, we were handed disposable cups because the dishwasher decided to take a sabbatical in August. Cleanliness? Well, it seems Costa’s motto is “Why clean today what you can put off indefinitely?” One staff member was performing the art of stationary mopping, a technique where you stand still with a mop and hope the dirt is intimidated into leaving. The chairs' upholstery looked like it had been through several wars, and the tables hadn’t seen a cleaning cloth since the last ice age. Honestly, Costa, why not just replace the whole operation with those funky DIY machines? They already pump out the aroma and play background sounds – who needs staff? Barista skills? Pfft, the machines do all the work. If profitability is your goal, just go full robot. At least the robots won’t ignore the mopping.

Staff are rude place is dirty needs to be more clean. The staff look like they are being forced to work and serve the public the really need training on their customer service skills.

Handy having somewhere to get a hot drink at unsightly hours of the morning, although service is always very slow with mediocre coffee served.

The coffee latte was reasonable, but not the best. Both times I ordered frappè from here, neither of them was particularly nice. The trainee behind the counter seemed annoyed to be there and was slightly irritated by having to serve customers. The people making the drinks were friendly. The frappès were full of ice and not at all creamy, as they are in other Costa branches. A hospital coffee shop ought to provide relief for people coming to them, as hospital appointments are stressful and taking a coffee break should ease stress, not create it.

Disgusting attitude of staff - refused to serve me a coffee to dine in after they accepted my order when I explicitly requested this to the staff, who accepted this order and then they served it to me in a take away cup saying We don’t do dine in orders ! ?????? I requested a refund as there was no apologies ! Only 2 people making hot drinks and one serving, other staff members doing nothing and wasting time pretending to be busy ! This business is losing a lot to money due to poor management surveillance! It wasn’t even that busy !

Great to have a 24/7 Costa inside the hospital. Good choice of drinks and food, prices are like other Costa's.

Having been in the queue now for ten minutes I thought I’d take the chance to write a review. We’ve been fourth in the queue for the entire time we’ve been here. There are three staff present, none of whom seem capable of multi tasking. Customer service appears to be an alien concept here.

App scanning machine not working so couldn't claim a free drink and no sweetener available only sugar. Very poor especially so as it's in the hospital.

Attitude awful. There was two of them on a shift- tall and very polite, smiling guy who brought me a soup from the back ( none in a front fridge) well done to this guy customer service 5 stars! But the second barista - girl with long dark hair.. she rolled her eyes on me when I came back with my soup because was still cold inside. She was questioning me by touching plastic melted soup container .. am sorry I should ask her to put her finger inside and check maybe she will learn, any ways of course she heated up the soup to extreme level.. ow dear. Also when I asked for a toast she respond in front of all the customers that is from yesterday and she can’t sell it.. why it is still in a store? No thank you no kiss my a… very disappointed. We are sick people here and that ignorant behaviour it’s just awful. Anyways I hope that lovely young gentleman won’t loose his passion and kindness

Absolute diabolical service at Addenbrookes Hospital Costa coffee. Only 2 people making hot drinks and one serving, 2 other staff members doing nothing. Staff apparently can’t keep up with orders or demand. The drinks were terrible and over priced. I went to Burger King instead / far superior service!

My wife and I had the Buffet. For drinks we ordered a Mocktail and the Godfathers Manhattan. There were two options of steak served at the buffet. One was Medium and the other was blue. Both were cold. After somehow finishing our food our drinks still had not come. When finally getting our drinks, my wife recieved a Strawberry Mojito Mocktail (this was fine) and I got a Coors that looked like it had been sitting out. (Rim was sticky and the beer was not cold, let alone NOT WHAT I ORDERED) Overall Food was subpar at best Service struggled but I think they seemed understaffed so, I dont fully blame them.

Grubby plastic marque. Drinks took ages to come out, cocktails were underwhelming, small menu (which is fine, but they didn't have everything on it). Starters came out but olives and nuts we ordered didn't come - eventually (when everyone had finished their starters), a grubby bowl of olives came out but they had no nuts! Wine was expensive for what it was. Mains dribbled out, rather than all coming together, rare steak wasn't rare, food wasn't particularly hot. Tiny risotto. We had pudding and a couple of us ordered what we were told was homemade Bailey's ice cream with a chocolate fondant - it turned out to be bay leaf ice cream, which didn't go particularly well! Had some more underwhelming and overpriced cocktails in the bar. Woke up this morning feeling hard done by and then read a text from one of our party asking if I thought we should complain. Really disappointing and certainly not what you'd expect from an upmarket central Cambridge hotel. Won't be heading back.
