Staff moaning about working conditions and swearing amongst themselves. One is sat on the working bench.! Platform 3/4 side. Someone needs to be having a word. I won't be going in again.

Staff helpful and friendly, quick service

Tasteless, watery coffee and a cheese toastie you would expect from a toaster but it's microwaved. I don't understand who would drink Costa coffee. Waste of money.

Before the trip, nice cafe to relax.

Absolute stars! I have to travel early in the morning for work, and I am often grouchy when arriving at the station. The staff at Costa never fails to take your order with a smile and wish you a good day. It’s a nice change of pace! Re: Costa in central/ platform 2 - Special mention to the wonderful lady working Tuesday 5th during the early morning shift! Thank you for your kindness ♥️

I write this review to praise the attentiveness and consideration shown by the employee Sean. To clarify, this review is with regard to the smaller station branch that sits between platforms 3 and 4. Sean’s commitment to being helpful and welcoming became evident to me even before I had realised he was a Costa employee: I must have been obviously in a confused state when trying to access the Costa that is besides platform 1 from the platform side, but couldn’t owing to some refurbishments in progress. Sean, in passing, came over to offer any assistance, and quickly pointed me towards the branch between platforms 3 and 4. I popped over and – with some surprise – was met by Sean behind the counter, now in Costa uniform. His extremely positive attitude to his work, marked by his continuing displays of consideration to all customers as well as his general efficiency, is something I’d like to highlight here. Thank you, Sean – you made a trying train journey far more bearable!

i work at costa (not this one) so i know how a costa should be ran. however the customer service at this location is AWFUL i asked for an iced oat vanilla chai to which the barista replied “iced oat chai” when i said yes but also with vanilla he said, your drink is sweet enough without you don’t need it, like let me get my drink how would like pls, i always get this drink they same at every costa, i don’t have rude baristas anywhere else. The staff were stood around chatting when there was a massive queue and it was dirty inside. My brownie was stale and squished in the bag, u like when they were on display. i had an awful experience unlike any other costa i’ve been in before.

Service and food is good and quick here. However, as much as I love Costa generally, I've spent half an hour sitting at a table inside the store listening to a female member of staff whingeing about how she is been treated by senior staff. I understand that not everyone is happy in their work, but guys.. Have these conversations out of earshot of your customers, please 🥺

This is about the small Costa between platforms 3 and 4, NOT the main one (they've always been lovely). A staff member was unbelievably rude when I asked about tap water. They weren't busy. In fact I was the only customer in there and they were chatting amongst themselves. She loudly snapped at me in a really rude, condescending, and aggressive way. Another staff member interjected, trying to explain why I'd asked, and possibly calm her down because she seemed so angry (about tap water?!). You know its bad when other staff members feel the need to mitigate the behaviour of their rudest colleague. I don't think a public facing job is the best career for her, and her colleagues shouldn't have to try and smooth things over when she, out of nowhere, speaks to customers like toddler throwing a tantrum.

Asked for a gluten-free cake and I was completely ignored from the staff.

They move pretty quick here. Staff was friendly and helpful. A pleasant place to stop for a drink. Nice atmosphere.

Good railway coffee shop. Prompt service at reasonable prices, in a friendly environment.

People are very kind and cappuccino also very good!

Came for my free sweet treat and the almond raspberry slice was very dry and seemed past it's best before.

Did a click and collect order at central staion newcastle costa, which a costa staff member would not give me my click and collect order at first as this costa staff member tried to parm me off to another costa where i had not placed my click and collect order and may i add the that staff member had told me to go to another costa that no longer exsits. I only adventurely got my order as i refused to go to any other Costa as I specially picked the Costa at Newcastle train station.

WiFi wasn't working so couldn't use vouchers or pay by card, the drinks were disgusting it was a waste of money

Tables were not cleared, and very dirty. Bin was full to overflowing. Service was slow however very friendly staff.

More chairs for sitting outside the cafe. Inside is congested. Staff are friendly.

I just wanted to thank the young blonde lady who gave me a drink & breakfast bap as a gesture of goodwill when my card declined & turned out to be because it was blocked. A stressful situation was made into a positive thing and I of all people appreciate it during these times. All sorted now and I will repay the gesture forward. Really appreciated - will be definitely back again with some flowers on my return. X

Good place for a stopover between trains and buses

Very kind and smiling staff especially a blonde girl that served us.

So handy because it’s inside the station. Quick coffee while waiting for train. Even bit busy n staff was struggling but hy at least I got my coffee. That’s all matter.

Shout out to Joanna on platform 3 who was working a 5am to 8pm shift. It was super busy because of the storm and she was the only one working. Really impressed with her attitude and kindness as she served me with a smile. Coffee was delicious!!

Good place to wait for your train. Far enough from the gates to avoid crowds.

Very poor customer service when dealing with elderly customers regarding social distancing. My dad was standing 2 metre from other customers and 1 rude member of staff told him to leave the premise, wait until a customer had left . She needs more training and respect towards customers in the future

To the young man who served me a latte and bacon roll this morning whilst i was nervously thinking can he do this in time for me to get on my train, you are an absolute credit to your team. Your politeness and friendliness was so refreshing sorry i did not get to ask your name but it was around 8.25am and you asked if i was going anywhere nice. My reply was home so hope you know who you are. Goes to show manners cost nothing but will take you far ........ Thank you again

Extremely friendly staff, both a young blonde lady and a dark haired man(in a bun). Both were very comical and made the stressful morning a lot better. Recommended me 'the purple one' and it was beyond expectations! Highly recommend this drink, as they did for me. Thank you for being so sweet!

Service is okay. The white hot chocolate was very watery.

Wonderful service by Charlotte, welcomed us and served us with a smile. Other than that its just a regular costa which is great:)

On the board it says filter coffee, the lady says we never serve them, only americano (which is double the price) after 3min of discussion I got 1 pound discount. The filter coffee feels like a trap type of thing. :( if they just cross it out no feelings.

Went to the shop in central station. The staff was lovely. I'm one of them annoying customers and they took it all on stride. Top marks. It's clean and tidy and wonderful staff.

I don't usually leave reviews but the experience I have just had at costa at central station motivated me to for once as it felt very personal. I turned up, staff (young woman) ignored me preferring to chat when clearly I want to be served. Eventually another lady customer turns up. When staff finish their chin wag they asked the other lady customer first what she wants after I've waited patiently. I said I have been waiting here can I be served please. The lady customer had apologised to me but the staff did not. So the staff made sure I got my order after the other lady customer. I get enough coffee from shops (many costas) to know when I am being treated badly on purpose. Will go to Starbucks in future across road. At least I won't feel second class being asian. Not a nice experience at all. I can take a bad coffee every so often but when it feels like a rude personal attack I cannot accept that. Bad practice.

The quality of the service is not always up to the standard. For example, today I had half cup of coffee.

Decent coffee, but poor service. Waited in line a while - fair enough, it was busy. Load took my order, I asked for eat-in as I was waiting for a train. Everything came in takeaway containers. Ordered a bacon roll, which came burned and dry. No sauce offered or available apparently. Tasted not too bad, but took some munching through. Decent coffee, but nowt else to recommend it.
