Costa Coffee in Birmingham

I am completely and utterly appalled by Adrian’s customer service. Kicked us out of the store for having a McDonald’s chip alongside my large Latte from the store. As a paying customer this is severely disappointing and embarrassing for your store. As I tried to get an explanation as to how I have caused offence…he called security!!!!!!! This is the worst customer experience I have had and he is a poor representative for your brand. I will be telling all of my friends and family about today. I hope you are proud of yourself Adrian.

The staff here are so welcoming. The lady who served me her name I think is charmane or something close to that. She was so lovely and pleasant.

Adrian & Tash went above and beyond with the customer service and coffee excellence.

The cakes are ok, however the drinks have an unusual taste.

my family and i went there for my mothers birthday around two hours before they closed. we had two coupons for free small hot chocolates for the kids, and we had brought our own cakes that we had bought the same day; they were still in their original packaging. usually, when i go to Costa, they let us eat things brought from home, but on that day they decided that it was against their policy to bring food from outside of Costa. they posed this quite disrespectfully. we decided to let it slide and put the cakes away. they took their time making our drinks and then when they came, the hot chocolates were ice cold, as were the cappuccino and americano we had ordered. they were freezing, and they came in a takeaway cup, not even a mug. they hadn’t given us a tray, and we had to go back and forth carrying our drinks to the table. my mother then decided she was going to buy a cake instead of the ones we bought that we weren’t allowed to eat. she got up to choose. there weren’t any cakes at all, even though it was no where near their closing time! we took our drinks and left, and we will not be going back.

Had one of their hot milkshakes which as the name suggests was a tad weird. The carrot cake was really nice. Chairs were comfy and service was great. Sat with friends for a long time, and were forewarned by staff that the toilets would be closing soon, that theyedbe closing soon.

Just ordered a ‘preference’ frappe from the nicest friendliest lady I’ve ever met in a costa! Please can you come back to Dorset with me when I finish skiing? ;-) Thanks for making my day & being lovely 🥰

I was served by ADRIAN and he has made the best coffee, I ever had.

I got harassed because I sat down before getting my coffe, I had literal just sat down because I hurt my knee earlier. Not going Costa again

The shop is located in Star city, the shop is ok, food the same as the rest of the brand but the service is bit wooden….the costa in Bearwood high street is far better in terms of service. They looks almost the same and foods are the same….but the service will define more their individuality.

Visited on Friday, early afternoon. The young lady working there was lovely and very helpful, didn't catch her name unfortunately.

I went in yesterday morning. The lady who served me was lovely. (Mixed race) . However the lady who made the coffee (black glasses) was rude and wanted to charge me again for coconut milk when I'd already paid for it once. Most costa experiences I have are great. Couple always dont want to be there but unfortunately you get paid to do a job and if customer service isn't your thing you shouldn't be doing it! Coffee is expensive as it is. Why should I paid again when you can't make it properly in first place. In hall green they actually ask you how much or little you would like. You should go for training there.

I don't know the name of the lady who served me today but she was really lovely and smiley, gave me a warm welcome and I think she caught onto my dietary requirements as she went out of her way to make me aware that the marshmallows were vegan. Again, really lovely worker, please give her a raise!

Nice clean space with outside sitting. Drinks quickly prepared.

I had come in. Polite staff and very helpful. Harry served me. I didn’t know which drink to get and he gave me a tester before buying. Customer service skills were great. Definitely would recommend to friends and family. Thank you

Nice Costa. Lots of friendly staff and it's quite a unique area to have a Costa. The seating is slightly limited inside but it's okay. Food and drinks are delicious and served on time. All good. 👍

I have been to many Costas in my time and they are not all the same in taste, environment and quality of how coffee is made. This Costa was quite good but it can get quite busy after 10am. I can only assume friday afternoons are very busy. Back on point it's an overall pleasant experience.

Was very busy due to half term. Was served by a lovely barista named Sahil. Frappe and hot drinks were lovely. Baristas customer service and skill was beyond exceptional thank you will be back to this costa coffee again.

The poor coffee barista working on Thursday afternoon looked absolutely stacked. Probably need to think about more staff during half term. The queue was out the door and the coffee orders were being taken promptly but there was just one barista on the coffee machines resulting in a lengthier wait.

I just wanted to share some good feedback about Adrian (I hope I got the spelling right) he works at the Star City Costa Coffee branch. He makes the perfect hot/cold drinks, his customer service is 10/10 and he is so welcoming. A wonderful barista and I am glad this is my local Costa Coffee.

I always pop on for a hot choclate very friendly staff especially Tash and charmaine always make you feel a very warm welcome would highly recommend this costa

Just to have a business meeting there. The cappuccino was great, served by friendly staff. There's a lot of space inside. I was feeling relaxed there. Great place!

We visited for lunch on Tuesday and Natalia made the best Mocha and hot chocolate that I think we've ever had in a Costa. They were delicious and perfect. Not a bad selection of sandwiches but nothing Gluten free so I couldn't eat anything. Again,the cleanliness of the toilets and general area were much better than alot of other Costa's we visited. Polite friendly staff,well done to the team there.

I enjoyed my Cappuccino with extra shots in a peaceful environment. Highly recommended this place if you are a coffee lover than

Some people that work here are very grumpy. If you don’t mind sitting in a sauna this place is great. Please bear in mind by the time it opens you’ll be having withdrawal symptoms. The parking is free so you can wait in the car. The coffee is nice.

Guy on the till not very friendly could do with attending a customer service course as well as a gym. 🤣 The actual Barista seemed friendly and decent enough.

August 14th still no AC available… the coffee was great and the two members of staff were friendly but I really pity them having to work inside there with all the windows trapping the sunlight and heat inside… It was cooler outside in the sun this morning than it was inside…

Been there today 07/08/2022,,no Air con on,,saving the electric with loosing customr,,Temp is nearly 30 and feel inside like hell,,pls dont go there,,dont pay for sitt in Hell

Coffee excellent, staff friendly and helpful.

Amazing place. Food always hits the spot. Staff are amazing always happy to help. I am there nearly every day and always happy with the service and everything i buy.. :)

My hot chocolate was perfect and smooth

Went in yesterday afternoon. 2 staff working, tables, chairs and floors were filthy. Even though seats and tables to sit on, they were left full from previous customers. Was in there around 40 minutes and never saw one table being cleared away or cleaned. Disgusting, needed more staff.

Very nice coffee place to sit down and people watch as it is right on the canal path.

Small but enough seating. Contactless machine was not working but staff did notify customers in the queue of this. Overall good service

Food arrived cold and I literally live 4 mins away , drink wasn’t packed properly so it spilled everywhere , basic things like this shouldn’t be happened why do you not think it’s necessary to make sure a drink it’s properly packaged when it’s for a delivery? Absolutely ridiculous. Do better.

I normally stop off in the mornings before work on 2 separate occasions ive gone to Costa and they have not been open. Not sure if there opening times have changed but it's a BIG inconvenience.

I service the fire alarm at this Costa in Star City ,really relaxed,not over busy . Staff are all excellent and kind ,especially Ramz ,such a welcoming top man

Was asked to use track and trace .. I didn’t have a problem with giving my name and number but was told I had to use the phone app and didn’t have my phone with me. I was refused service and was embarrassed so decided to leave. Since when was it made a legislation that I had to have the app? I have sent THREE complaints to Costa with no reply!!

Nice atmosphere here , staff are really friendly, they have really good hot drinks, my favourite from here is their hot chocolate and strawberry lemonade it’s the best. I totally recommend this place. There is other eating places around here too, a very good place to hang out with family or friends :)

Appalling customer service, staff were too busy chatting about their personal life than provide a service. Breakfast was order vegan presentation was poor taste was good. Overall it was felt this store can and should perform better next time When I revisit this store again.

Nice venue and good seating. However reduced number of staff resulted in slow service and a lack of attention given to customer consideration.

Just at star city this evening and just wanted to say that I'm extremely happy with the service. The staff were very considerate of my wife and baby to ensure we had as smooth an experience as possible. Would definitely recommend popping in when you're out and about in star city. Thanks guys!!

No delivery of their sausage , bacon and egg rolls. For a Saturday morning, it was poor and only one poor chap running the place 😑.

Went yesterday evening to do some work and have some hot drinks Wi-Fi was not working no matter how many times we moves seats Asked the staff who had no idea what was going on So we wont be going there again!!!

I walked past this place while looking for it. When I finally found it I was happy with the atmosphere, it's a nice place to chill and have a chat over coffee.

Only coffee shop I know with no Wi-Fi. Spoke to the Manager and apparently they use O2 Wi-fi but he admitted it doesn’t work!!! He told me to email Head Office but couldn’t give me an email address so instead agreed that I should leave a negative Google review

i walked into costa coffee and the staff was amazing they knew my order in seconds and i sat down with my chocolate cake .really nice .it took 5 mins for my drink to come over and was really nice it was not to much ice it was just right .the boss is just crazy and shes very helpful and she will do right thing .can not want for Christmas stuff and want for the new drinks and cakes coming out.thank you for the best time in my life i hope i will be in there again soon.

7:30pm Sunday 20th October- Staff did not help open the door when clearly watching us and eventually when we got in, she murmurs “go away” then proceeded to roll her eyes. Then when we order our coffee, the other employee try’s to ask the woman staff member for help and she deliberately chose to ignore him. This has made us not want to goto that specific Costa again as we felt that the woman employee was disrespectful.

Big shout out to Adele who handled the store on her own. No staff what so ever. Cue up to the door. Order after order. The 5* is for her. As for the actual store I wouldnt give you 1 for the way it is managed. Bring in more staff. Period.

Need more staff, although it was about 11am on a Sunday, there were only 2 staff, with Villa at home more staff planning is needed. 20 minutes to get served a toastie and a Coffee. Which were fine.

Called in Saturday 4may 11.10 waiter 20 minutes to be served I asked the lad serving are you the only one serving I was told yes the staff had not turned up no manger to give him a hand ... all the tables not cleared , very poor service , the lad did a excellent job coping on his own

One of the worst Costas. Messed up my order twice. The place was a mess, and the service wasn't good either. The espresso had coffee grounds in it!
