Costa Coffee in Epping Forest

It is a lovely coffee place. But in recent days I have experienced very impolite behaviour from one of the staff members. I paid for a Maple Hazelnut Latte and then asked if I could get it done using Soy milk. She was grumpy about it and said it doesn’t state soy milk in the order she received on the screen. I told that I am happy to pay any extra. She was like next time you need to tell properly but this time it’s fine. People who work in customer service can be a lot more polite and customer friendly. Also what I don’t understand is since I have already paid for Hazelnut milk a swap to soya shouldn’t cost extra though I offered to pay any extra !

Good place to go. I have been there while raining and whit the new outside are covered it really good. The girls at the counter are very polite.

We have been coming here for years. Today was an experience that, that kind of worker shouldn’t be allowed in customer service. Her name was Greta/Gena Im not sure, she’s albanian. My 2y daughter spilled some water and even though I was going to clean it myself, she came over and said the worst words that you could possibly say. Demanding that kids are not allowed here. That we HAVE to clean it as obligation and said she’d force us. I always clean it. Even when I come in and the table is already dirty from previous customers, I clean it up and never asked for any of the service team to come over. The baby change too is a lot of the time dirty previously, I clean it up for my daughter and after Im done too. I do not come there to be talked down like that for absolutely no reason by anyone. That behaviour is unacceptable and I hope you take measures for that. We were keeping our calm despite her nasty words, but best believe that any other customer would have grabbed her hair out of her scalp.

Its a Costa the food is good and service is good

£.45 extra for oat milk. What a joke

Our local stop for me and my kids when my other son is at his sports club and they're always welcoming, friendly and efficient, make lovely coffee and always accommodating for my children. The decor and seating is nice, has an ambience to it, one of my favourite costas!!

Beware-the staff at the victoria road branch are not pressing the button on the till to say you are using your own reusable cup to avoid giving you a green bean to get a free drink quicker, intend to speak to trading standards about it on 2nd Jan.

Never heard anything but 'our dishwasher is broken' at this branch so always given take away cups in store. One of the muppets insists on giving you a new cup and lid on kids refills like he is doing you an incredible favour, so wasteful.

Love the new refurb, so chilled and relaxed for a quick coffee stop. I do wish some of the staff was a little bit more welcoming and friendly though.

Impolite, impatient and grumpy staff. And let me assure you: sarcastic “Enjoy!” was completely unnecessary. No food or drink can be enjoyed after being served in an extremely rude way by staff who kept rolling their eyes.

Not bad, drink didn’t take too long to come. Occasionally filled with loud kids shrieking for no reason. Would note this Costa is not as big as others in the area so might be worth considering if you are looking to sit in. Staff seemed competent enough

I visited this Costa Coffee today for a sandwich and a green tea. My husband brought them back to the table and I noticed that the glass for the tea was really dirty - it looked as thought it hadn't been washed at all. I took it back and explained and the young lady took it - no apology - and went off. I was waiting a while and then suggested to the other lady that she just give me a cup. She said that it was just coming - I think it was being washed - but when it was given back to me - it was still dirty - it had marks on it - possibly lipstick! When I said that I was sorry it was still dirty and I requested a cup - she audibly sighed and handed me a cup with no words!!! Firstly - surely it is obvious when glasses are dirty - shouldn't that be one of the checks that a server should make? Secondly, if something goes wrong - just apologise, be pleasant and try to put it right! Oh and a smile when serving goes a long way!! There are lots of coffee shops in Buckhurst Hill including another Costa where the staff are perfectly nice AND the glasses are clean!!!

The only reason this place is good whatsoever and what makes me and my friends wanna come back is Elena. She has a great positive and caring attitude. Always is kind and delivers our orders with professionalism and skill. 11/10!!

I actually like this place when Ramona is not there. I get it that she is new but she messed up our drinks two different times and when confronted the third time about it, she immediately got a very bad attitude towards us. She didn’t even accept that she did our “extra hot” orders almost cold. She makes us not wanna come here anymore!

Its a really great place when Elena is there. She is attentive, kind and nice and always resolved any issues me and my friends had. Overall Elena makes us have a great experience! Gotta love her <33

Management lady there has no manners very rude no respect for customers was rude to my pregnant Mrs who only asked for pepper. Rude to my mother In law. Asked regular coffees were made large. Never go in there ever again lady needs to learn how to smile.

Bad service. Always around 5.30/ 6.00 they switch of the oven and make us drink in takeaway cups!!! It is always dirty.....it wasn't like that in the beginning. Even the staff are rude . Not going there again!!!!!

Rude baristas and they don’t know how to properly make a latte. Costa for some reason instruct baristas to dump the espresso into the milk, whereas you are meant to pour milk into espresso?? Not the proper method to make a latte as the espresso does not mix with the milk.

Had two orders cancelled within 10 minutes

Just don’t buy from there horrible costumer service one of the girls there so rude and she doesn’t know how to take an order I got so disappointed ☹️

I'm a loyal customer to Costa and spend at least £150 every month here. The shop is supposed to be open until 7pm but sometimes when I show up at 6:45 they are "cleaning the machines" and refuse to serve me. The business opening times should be the business opening times, period.

Rude staff They act as if it is too much trouble to make you your order . Never greet customers with a smile or just a pleasant good morning

I’m the day where out milk and normal milk cost the same don’t know why they charge such a huge premium. Coffee always warm and not really hot. But nice location.

Nice soothing to relax location with a cupper. But staff gets easily grumpy about a customer's mistake made with order... Then there was no acknowledgement returned when the customer tried to apologise.

As I walked into the shop ( I live nearby and go there daily ) there were 4 people at the counter and people sitting down in the establishment . I just wanted a coffee and a cake and was rudely shouted at “ we are closed “ it would have been no more that 30 seconds after closing time ( I genuinely wasn’t aware of the time ) lights were on, lots of activity in the shop and to be treated like that in front of people was not acceptable .

One girl was serving all persons. The other girl was just looking. The server made lovely coffee.

Went in for coffee, asked to sit in. Was informed by an overweight, very unfriendly woman behind the counter that it was takeaway only as they were shutting in half an hour. We asked if we could sit outside. She huffed and said yes but we are clearing tables at ten to five. What a way to greet customers. This unfriendly slob of a woman should never have a job front of house. Miserable place and very dirty too. Avoid. Needs to close down.

I love Costa's coffee blend and it is such a shame that all the hard work in procuring, preparation and roasting of the beans is all lost due to staff not being trained to treat with respect the coffee making process. I don't believe they ever do a grind check. Really disappointed with the taste of burnt coffee.

Just had coffee with a couple of friends. We sat outside which was nice.

Walked here to collect a pre booked, prepaid order using an app which costa participates with. Turned up to find a smelly and unclean venue with employees to match. The staff were rude, didn’t have my order or any awareness of the app this chain has signed up for and didn’t have my order available either so I left empty handed and out of pocket. Worse still they laughed at my mis fortune when they realised I had prepaid for something that wasn’t there. Would avoid and visit one of the nicer independent cafes in the area instead.

Excellent location on a quite residential area and with our door seat beside the park and waitrose. Parking family and indoor seating. I just love the location service and coffee. Fresh air fresh coffee and Costa is always my 1st choice except few local shops.

Unfriendly staff. We arrived just before 5pm but although closing time wasn't until 6pm staff were already clearing up. Won't bother again.

Young girl was very rude I walked out of the place and cancelled my order I will not be going back also my partner who was seated said the tables were filthy too Very disappointed

Average service. Kept waiting by a customers inability to understand what a vegan is.

The kids wanted a treat so I ordered 4 baby chinos. I asked for marshmallows and chocolate sticks to be placed in a separate cups, as it was not just for our household but for our friends too. The waitress refused to give spare cups, due to waste. She was very rude, telling me that the kids will just put it in the bin. You would think now with Covid pandemic staff would think a little bit, that sharing food from the same cup is not recommended. In front of the kids she started arguing with her colleague, because the colleague was willing to give it to us, she was adamant not to. Wouldn’t recommend at all, next time will go to other local coffee places as the staff there welcome the kids and are always friendly.

The capability to be able to collect points is always down! I have receipt after receipt waiting for the machine to work so I can collect my points!

Filthy coffee bar with dirty windows & bird poo ridden fake lawn! A great area with shops like this letting it down.why are these establishments allowed to trade when the hygiene is so low?

Best Costa I've been to ever but please keep it a secret

The garden is covered in bird poo. The fake grass is not clean and left with the bird poo. When i advised staff they said they were aware but there was nothing they could do and their management needed to address. It’s a health hazard. Especially for small children like my 18 month old who took a tumble and was covered in bird poo. Awful! We won’t be back. If i would have known we wouldn’t have gone outside. We were only outside for minutes. Fake grass under trees with wildlife does not work especially if it isn’t cleaned. It’s a shame as staff are lovely working at the counter.

Sometimes all you need is a decent coffee to start your day and this place has it.

I have never come across such disorganised organisation in a coffee shop. Slow, get the orders wrong. When I went to reorder I joined the end of the queue and she rudely asked me what I wanted, so I told her my order thinking she had already taken the orders from the people in front. Turns out she hadn’t so I ended up having to apologise to the customers.??? So when I get to the front of the queue I have to tell her the order again and she says she thought I was asking a question. She still got the order wrong. 3 people but one just scrolling through her phone. It’s not a one off, last time I visited, same petulant rude service , oh and a thank when you return your cup and saucer wouldn’t go amiss. Will be going elsewhere because when it comes to a coffee shop it’s ALL about the service. It’s not as though it’s the best coffee......

Big advert which did kit get honoured because of tiny small print. Then paid full price only to have a hair in my bagel.

I have given 1 star for the only friendly staff member that works there. He smiles. He understands the order the first time I say it, he does it with soya milk without me having to call over a reminder that I had asked for soya as the other staff do (often giving me a disparaging look as they stand there with full fat milk poised to be poured!). The rest of the staff just seem miserable but I put that down to cultural differences.

The coffee was only average in taste for a Costa but regrettably, the service was well below par as the lady who served me was so uninterested she hardly said a word. However, the table was clean and tidy.

The only good thing I can write about this branch is that occasionally they make a nice coffee. However staff seem to really struggle multitasking so avoid if there is a queue because you will be waiting forever to order! I find It can be very painful ordering my drink as I have to repeat myself a few times because the barista doesn’t listen!! Several times I have started ordering and the barista has then turned her back on me to say something to her colleague!! I find this extremely rude! I also find that I will ask for soya milk but this seems to get lost in translation as I’m constantly calling over to the barista making the drinks reminding her I asked for soya milk! To sum up if your having a bad day do not visit this branch as your likely to leave feeling even more annoyed/frustrated!

This is my local Costa which I come to weekly. Anatole the manager always remembers my order. He is polite, friendly and efficient. The staff also work as a good team. Jim Harding.

We were passing by on a lovely sunny day and popped into this costa. I wasn't expecting to find a brilliant children's play area both inside and outside. We thought it was a fantastic family cafe, lots to keep children occupied and having fun. The garden was so nice! Unexpected treat. Food & drink is all the usual Costa stuff. Thanks to the staff.

If you want stale cakes, rubbish surrounding you and being an inconvenience to baristas, this is the place to go!

I visit here regularly and in recent times have seen a rapid decline in customer service. Staff are all foreign and speak their language between them while ordering making you feel insecure, they could also do with smiling once in a while to make it seem like they are enjoying their job, tables are filthy and takes ages for someone to actually clean them. When you ask for something it takes several attempts to actually understand what you are asking for. Regularly the dishwasher is not working so have to have paper cups (nothing to do with near closing time and not wanting to clean up after themselves) I have been told he area manager is foreign and only employs his own (not sure how true this is)All in all staff could do with a complete overhaul.

Typical Costa. Passable coffee, passable cakes and stuff, nothing particularly special except the staff, who are helpful and cheerful.

For me, the most coffee and this is my favorite cafe in this era. The staf is very polite and it's always nice to take a break from the routine. Croissants with cappuccino are a fairy tale. Thank you

This place has gone completely downhill. It's hit and miss whether u get what you ordered the way it should be. We come in at least 2 times a week and always different staff...no one seems to stay...bad management or they don't pay enough to their staff. Visited just now stood in queue only to be told when got to till that only taking cash payments! Also think it's rude that when staff talk to each other it's not in English.

The most perfect Costa for adults :) kid friendly one is just across the road. Super friendly stuff, cozy atmosphere and always very tidy

Coffee is Costa - same as you would get at any Costa. The layout of tables is good and I was particularly impressed with the outdoor area at the back of the café. The staff were quick and efficient and I would certainly stop here again for another morning coffee.

I first got to know and love Costa at this branch. Close to my workplace, I would get my hit there every day before going to the office. Nice garden at the back where kids can entertain themselves while parents relax too. All the usual Costa food and drink. Atmospheric at Christmas.

Bademli kruvasan çok lezzetliydi, kruvasanı ikram ederken yanına bıçak koyuyorlar, kesip elle yiyiyorlar. Americano coffee tatlı, hafif ve lezzetliydi. Kruvasan ve americano 5 pound tuttu. Buarada kalkmaya yakın herkes tepsisine tabak ve bardaklarını koyuyor. Cafe çalışanı yerinizden kalkmadan masanızdan herhangi bir şey kesinlikle almıyor.

The best Costa in the area , I drive past two Costa shops to come here, never had a bad drink and is always quiet in the morning, no screaming school kids hanging out here !! And the staff are always lovely

Costa serves the best coffee not only in Buckhurst Hill, but in the whole of the country. But what makes this branch special, is their friendly staff and the space at the back, where you can chill whilst seeing you children playing.

This is one of my favourite Costa coffee as I love sitting in the window seat people watching Good service very clean &amp; friendly staff We always go there !

What can I say about Costa my favourite coffee shop.Each time I see Costa I have to have a coffee break.

This Costa is great. Looks small from outside, but has lots of seating and a great garden to sit and relax in. The staff have always been very attentive, and have made great coffee. The food selection is the same as in all Costa branches, and could do with a bit if imagination. It's hard to find a sandwich that doesn't have cheese listed as an ingredient.

Not what it was. The service is ok but the quality of food is not. A bit like the charm and enthusiasm of the service pre Christmas the food has lost its sparkle. Shame

Normally arrange to meet friends here but have now moved over to the Waitrose branch, to try and avoid the noise from the children due to the outdoor play area.

I reviewed the new branch of Costa Coffee station Road buckhurst hill at easter.Since that review I paid it a further visit to see if it had improved it's service and to my suprise I must say that it has improved out if all recondition and I will use it more often as I live very local.

Dropped into Costa for a take-away coffee on way back home. It was 18:51 (not a second later) as I knew that the advertised closing time was 19:00. Whole place was on the verge of closing with chairs and tables stacked up just inside the doorway. Before I could say anything, the manageress said, "we're closing". I said, but there are 9 mins to go. She claimed otherwise and that it was 3mins to closing time. I asked for a coffee as it should only take 1 minute or two to make one. Of course, she had closed the machines down. Although she wasn't actually rude, she was extremely dismissive. Not a hint of customer care. She shouldn't be in the service industry. To be fair, most of the staff at this Costa are really nice, so this rating is purely down to this one individual.I suspect the staff there aren't paid a minute after closing time, so a few of them turn grumpy and give the outlet, if not the brand a bad name.
