Standard food but waiting for food to come out constantly was ridiculous.

I had a brilliant meal here recently! The food was top-notch, from the tender roasted beef to the delicious peri-peri chicken wings, and don't get me started on the cookie cream cake – it was divine. The place was spotless, the atmosphere was lively, and the service was unbeatable. I'd love to see some African dishes added to the menu next time! Overall, it's always a pleasure to visit; I can't recommend it enough!

First time here and was seated very quickly even though it was super busy. Staff were very polite and the food was lovely. Lots of choice for everyone and plenty to go around. Will certainly be back again soon.

Truly awful food. Bland Chinese, bland Sushi, bland pizza. £21 per person, total rip off. An experience to never be repeated. Also the 30 min wait at reception before another queue to pay.

Great selection of food, just getting to it was a problem as it was absolutely packed with customers. Issue with drinks machine and staff were just looking at customers struggling to use it. Our waiter was very awkward and hard to understand. Still a nice place to eat, will be back.

Visited Cosmo Derby today and tried their buffet. The variety of food available was truly impressive, with a wide range of tastes and preferences. However, I found the flavors a bit bland, which slightly dampened the overall experience. The ambience was definitely a highlight — modern, well-lit, and inviting, with a contemporary design that added a touch of elegance. It’s a perfect spot for families, as the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy a diverse selection of dishes, especially if you value variety and a family-friendly setting. With a bit more attention to flavor, it could easily become a go-to dining destination.

On Saturday it is must to book in advance as this restaurant is very popular. Variety of drinks available and stations of various foods. Tables have a time limit so that tables can be given to awaiting customers.

We have visited Cosmo Derby twice, and both times the quality was consistent, suggesting a stable standard. The wide variety of food offered ensures sufficient choices for diners. While the food quality cannot be described as exceptional, it is decent for an "all-you-can-eat" buffet. For those who enjoy buffet dining, this is a good option.

Visited for Friday dinner. Teppanyaki squid and scallops are really good. I had soup noodles and it worked very well with chilli oil & vinegar. Sui mai is also very authentic.

Visited again on the 21/02/25. Once again fantastic service, lots of amazing dishes to try. Visited here today (28/08/22) and had a awesome evening. Several plates later we are all ready to explode. A group of 6, 2 adults and 4 kids all under 13 with bottomless soft drinks cost us £93 (that's with blue light discount). Between us we tried the majority of all the selections and wasn't disappointed at all. The Chinese section was definitely the favourite on our table. Plenty of desserts available but the ice machine was a personal favourite.

My experience at Cosmo was average to be honest. We were only allowed 1hour stay. We were told they are closing early. When you knew you were closing early, you should have accepted the reservation in the first place.

We love it here. The food is delicious and lots of choice. Puddings are nice and we enjoy the ice cream machine. Staff are friendly and service is very good.

Food was cold Music was loud you have to go inside if you're disabled to ask them to open the disabled RAM which doesn't make sense up 12 steps

Whole place was like a childrens play area. Immature people everywhere, witnessed a food fight. Not much food choice either. Safe to say wont be going back.

Visited today with family for a birthday meal. Waiting time from checking in to sitting down to eat took longer than anticipated. Not many staff members around to ask why it was taking so long? But time to sit and eat was extended by 15 minutes due to the delay. Food was mediocre and lacking - not worth £16.99 per adult. Service was okay, but staff didn’t seem particularly happy. Engaging more with customers would improve the atmosphere. When booking a table, you have to enter card details when a party is 10 or more people. This is very off putting. You get charged £5 a head for people who don’t turn up. I get to some extent why you do this, but Saturday is a busy day and any slots not filled could have easily been filled by drop-ins or other people booking.

First time visiting here today and was pleasantly surprised. The food was all fresh and full of flavour and the staff were very polite and attentive.

It's my birthday today, I got a free birthday meal. I had a nice time with my family. Will definitely recommend.

We had a table booked for 6:45. We were asked to wait for 20 minutes before being allowed in. For me and my partner with a drink each it was £55. The floors were sticky and covered in food all under the tables, the tables were greasy and were really close to the tables next to us either side so very limited on privacy for conversations. Families were there with their screaming kids and the food selection was really poor too. The buffet is more of a cheap Chinese all you can eat than anything. I'd have rather have gone to wing wah or McDonald's than gone here. The quality of food is poor, my partner found hairs within a beef dish, my food was cold by time I got it back to the table, the plates were wet and greasy, there's no coverings on food serving tools so everyone touches and breathes over the same food, definitely won't be coming back, it used to be an amazing place with high standards when they first opened, now it just blends in with the rest of derby. A total dive. Had a problem with the table next to us talking to each other in their own language about me and my partner and listening in to our conversations, kept being looked at and starred at, felt very uncomfortable so we left after 20 minutes of being there yet had to pay before we even ate so lost out massively. Never again.

Not what it used to be. Very cramped in and no privacy at the table we was sat on. The tables are very close in proximity to other customers, which makes for an uncomfortable meal experience. For 2 people to eat and 1 drink each it cost £55, very expensive for what was offered. The food selection wasn't the best. All the staff seem very unhappy. The floors were dirty and everywhere just seemed grubby. Feels very much all about making as much money as possible while customer quality really suffers. Get in you in and out as fast as possible. Overall, I won't be returning.

Awful place. My son got food poisoning here… AGAIN!!

We arrived on time for our table reservation and we were made to wait in the waiting room with many others as our table wasn’t ready for another 15 minutes. Was more of a Chinese buffet than an around the world. Plates were piling up on the table and not being cleared by the staff. Overall the place didn’t feel very clean or hygienic. Wouldn’t rush back.

Lost one hour just stay in the queue for fresh cooked sea food and meat, you have 2 hours to finish, the space to crowded and not big choice of food and this is in all cosmo restaurants to expensive for what they offer.

Had a table of 9 booked for 7.30, it was absolutely packed at the entrance, waited till 7.50 to be told to go and pay which we thought was the que, never moved! Turns out we we were queing with people who were waiting for a table, 8.10 we finally sat down. Asked 3 staff members if we could order drinks, they never came back to take our order. The food made up for it tho, was really good and lots of choice. Even my pickiest eater daughter found lots to eat. Tables were cleared of dirty plates quickly too. We had a lovely night, just shame about the start!

shame we were allowed to book 7.00 pm as it was manic, had to wait until 7.15, .would have been better to say 7.00 NA and offer 7.30 drink service was slow... I ended up going back 5 minutes later and grabbing our tray of drinks myself . first place not to sell zero alcohol beer ..you lost 2 sales there my brother and myself had water. slow at clearing plates from the table , no teaspoons for ice cream or dessert. I did ask the servers they told me to go to the ice cream machine ...none there . Naan Bread did not look appetising would be better if you had a better salad bar ..not everyone wants unhealthy food ! Food 8.5/10 with better salad would be 10! Drinks 5/10 girl in reception 10/10 cleanliness 9/10 servers 6/10 if they had brought our drinks quicker and cleared plates 10/10

I love this place. Great ambience and good food

The staff were so well organised, very helpful and polite. We booked a table for 2 in advance and when we arrived we were sat at our tables within 5 mins. The toilets looked neat. Most of the food I ate was well flavoured to my taste buds and there were pepper sauces and chops available if I needed extra heat on my meals. There was a decent variety of intercontinental meals. I did see a lot of Africans during my stay at the restaurant so I think incorporating a simple but popular African meal like "jollof rice" in the menu, would be a good idea. I also hoped for some goat curry but didn't see that. I also think it would be good to add spoons to the cutleries on the table, for watery meals and soups etc Overall it was worth the money and I would definitely visit again if I get the chance.

Just got home from eating as it was my granddaughter 1st birthday staff not very friendly food was cold so won't be coming back anytime soon

Great food the first couple times around but then you realise the menu is always the same and you become tired of it. Other than that the food is good. Seating is very close together and crammed. That was the worst part for me. To many people crammed in at a time.

Came here the other week, some staff were very unfriendly, especially sid. When we got our food, it was not very warm and you could tell that the food had been sat there for awhile because the sauces were beginning to skin over, and a lot of the foods looked stale. No parking available. Not wheelchair or pushchair friendly. A friend had told me that they got food poisoning after eating here too. The atmosphere feels tense when around some staff, and when we were sat eating, the manager was speaking to one of the underage employees, she looked about 16, and was being very rude to her and the girl looked embarrassed and dissapeared for awhile. In my general opinion, It is an ok restaurant, abit overpriced for what it is and I think it should just be one set price for the whole week, not more or less depending on the day. The food is ok, should be more hot and cooked better. And the manager needs to treat staff better, a lot of staff quit after a month ,I have been told, because of how mentally draining the job is. Also, I want to praise Ferdi, he made the night much more enjoyable by making us feel welcomed, always having a smile on his face and kept checking up on us to ensure our experience was good. We didn’t tell him about our bad thoughts because he was very nice and didn’t want to put the burden on him. The drink deliveries take too long, and I think it’s ridiculous how they are making 16 year olds carry a tray full of drinks to a table across the restaurant and they look terrified. I witnessed the manager have ago at one girl because she said she couldn’t carry a the tray full of martinis and the cocktail jug, she looked terrified, also the drinks are not even nice the alcohol is watered down and so expensive for what it is, and i’m pretty sure it was an underage employee making drinks that night. Additionally, It’s ridiculous and illegal that they make all employees share tips, the tip is left specifically for the server who made a great impression to those people. Hope they ACTUALLY listen to my review and better there ways. I hope someone takes legal action.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at Cosmo. I had been a customer, spending the weekend dining here, but my last visit was appalling and unacceptable. As I was leaving, I was falsely accused of stealing simply because I had tissue napkins in my bag. The staff refused to let me leave and started recording me, treating me like a criminal in front of everyone. Despite my explanation and the fact that I was completely innocent, they refused to listen. What makes it worse is that after the ordeal, there was no apology, no acknowledgment of their mistake, and no effort to make amends. This is not how loyal customers—or any customers—should be treated. I will never return to this restaurant, and I strongly urge others to think twice before visiting a place that treats people so poorly.
