Cornfords Fish & Chips in North East Derbyshire

After being out all day, I decided to buy a large potion of chips, rather than cook a meal. I waited 15 minutes. The shop was busy, and I know they have to be cooked, so I patiently waited my turn. When I got home and unwrapped the chips, they were very undercooked. They were still the same colour as raw potatoes and were not edible.

Badly cooked chips, all hard and barely warm when served. Small portion £2.80 is just that only big enough for a child. Will drive by in the future.

Very soggy and the batter was no crunchy at all! The base of the fish batter remained completely stuck to the paper and we had to pull it out with the fork Also I found a lot of fish bones. Chips were quite good.

All I can say is amazing. 32 meals prepared on a busy Saturday night, for some very hungry Young Farmers at the County Show. Despite their fears that the food might have got a bit cold as we were late to collect, it was still piping hot by the time we drove back to Detling. Every meal was correct as per the order. I was returning home after a long day in Gillingham and dropped in for 2 Cod and chips at Cornfords. These cost £20 which wasn't unreasonable. I had to wait 10min but I could see the fish being prepared and cooked in front of me. It was nicely served in two boxes and carry bag. When we started to eat these at home, then my, oh my, the food was delicious. Nice light batter on the fish, and chips that satisfy. We will go again

Great customer service, very friendly, great food portions and great food 😋 Local fish and chips known for years, if you’re hungry definitely recommend Lady serving was very friendly and explained the different combos to buy 👍🏻

The chips were in the main dry and some were black and discoloured. The batter on the fish was inedible with the cod having a lot of bones. I am very disappointed with the standard of this fish and chip meal.
