We visited whilst staying in one of the lodges for a long weekend. The first time just for a drink and the bar area is lovely with comfy seating and dog friendly. On our second visit we had booked for food. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing which was a change from when my mum had enjoyed a meal there the previous year. The roast dinner was average but came with new potatoes not roasted potatoes. The gravy was lovely, I ordered the lasagne and the cheese on top was burnt all over, the mince was flavourless and dry. The staff were great about it and took it away, offered an alternative and took off the bill. We wouldn’t visit for food again but would still come to enjoy the bar area,

Very clean restaurant and bar with a nice ambiance and well looked after toilets. We were a party of six and had a window seat with a pleasant view. The staff were friendly and helpful, just one minor issue with service in that one if the waiters kept leaning over one of our party to clear dishes which wasn’t ideal. The food was overall nice enough, though my nut roast was rock hard and either over or undercooked, however we did let them know and they were good enough to take this meal off the bill. I thought the meals were slightly overpriced for the size of the portions, however I guess you pay for the convenience of the restaurant being on the site. Overall a pleasant restaurant with great staff and I would go back here again, however do make sure you book in advance as it is always very busy.

We stayed at the Keswick Reach Lodge for a long weekend and came here for dinner on the final night. We'd had great service from everyone and the waitress was lovely, but the manager who showed us to the table was absolutely miserable! He didn't make us feel welcome, and gave another couple a discount as they were staying in a lodge, but didn't offer it to us? The drinks were OK, and the food was also unfortunately average. My other half ordered a burger and I had a pie - the filling was nice but the pastry was too thick. The gravy was bland. The burger was a little too greasy.Disappointed with our last meal for the weekend, and if we stayed again we would definitely rather save the money and cook dinner ourselves!

We visited for Sunday roast. The food was really lovely but the portion size disgraceful for £12.95. 1 new potato, 2 roast potatoes, 3 slices of carrot, spoonful of red cabbage & green beans. Asked the lad to feed back my complaint to the kitchen. I know he didn't. (Well no one came to discuss or apologise anyway) Wish we had gone to a local pub instead. A shame as Copper Fells is lovely. Was almost like they were rationing food as they were running low on roast dinners. Menu states 'new potatoes' maybe best adjust that to potato !! Will leave feedback for the park as well. This needs to be looked at or people will just visit local eateries.

Staying at the lodges for my birthday weekend, we arrived early on the Friday so decided to sit in the bar and have a drink and bite to eat. We had pre-booked the restaurant for evening meals before our arrival.Friday lunch :Prawns & Crayfish SandwichCumberland Sausage Toasted Ciabatta, with side order of chunky chips (to share)Lots of prawns & crayfish in the sandwich and lovely hot sausage ciabatta with large portion of chunky chips, which two of us shared (there was more than enough). There was plenty of prawn & crayfish filling in the sandwich and excellent value for money.Friday Evening:Cumberland & Black Pudding Terrine; Braised Cumbrian Lamb ShankSmoked Salmon; Braised Cumbrian Lamb ShankBraised Cumbrian Lamb Shank; Rich Chocolate TorteDon't expect small portions here. The Terrine was a large starter. All three of us had the lamb shank and the meat just fell off the bone and was tender and juicy. Saturday Evening:Beer battered Cod fillet with chips; Selection of Chees & biscuits (no blue)10oz local Rump Steak; Strawberry Sundae10oz local Rump Steak; Chocolate & Hazelnut BrownieSteak was cooked to perfection. Very good Cod. Large cheese & biscuits.Sunday Lunch:Black Pudding & Goat’s Cheese Stack with Bacon Gravy; Roast Topside of Cumbrian Beef with Yorkshire Pudding Crispy Whitebait; Roast Leg of Cumbrian Fell Bred Lamb with Yorkshire PuddingFreshly made Soup of the Day & crusty Bread; Roast Leg of Cumbrian Fell Bred Lamb with Yorkshire PuddingStarters were large, the whitebait was not as big as some of the food portions we have had here but just the right size. We were asked when our order was taken if we wanted Yorkshire pudding with our lamb and we Both said yes! The Yorkies were absolutely enormous and took over half the plate! We All had two large thick slice of meat plus veg, roasties & new potato, with a delicious gravy.Overall - superb meals every time. Staff were welcoming, friendly, chatty and polite and a credit to the resort. On arrival we were given money off vouchers. We used the voucher for a free bottle of wine and 20% off the bill (two people ordering two courses).Restaurant was busy and would recommend booking.

We shared a garlic bread starter which was okay, I ordered a pepperoni pizza which wasn’t nice, it was very greasy and I left half of it. We were staying at the lodge retreat for two weeks over the Easter break. As the weather was fantastic most of the time, we tended to eat out, but on one occasion, we had a lazy day and decided to try the food here. We didn't make a booking, but as expected when we turned up around 7pm on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was fully booked. We were however quite happy to sit in the bar area as it was possible to order off the restaurant menu there. I was with my 3 year old soon too, so was probably a bit quieter there for him too. The food was fantastic, I had the Thai Green curry and my some had a tomato pasta which he loved. Service was excellent and we were completely full after 2 courses. It was a shame we didn't get to try some of the other dishes on the menu, but hope to be back again soon. Thanks again!

The first night we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was cooked to perfection and the strawberry sundae was amazing. The service was excellent. Wish we could say the same for the second night. The waiting on staff were still excellent but the food was a bit of a let down. We asked if there was a different chef that evening but the restaurant manager assured us it was the same chef. I felt she was quite off hand when we complained I showed her the photo of the strawberry sunday I took the night before and the "childs one " I was served the following evening, her words were our chef is rather busy I will see that he is more consistent. When I asked where the meringue was as the night before there was plenty she told me that there was a piece down the bowl also when we sent the steak back as we asked for it medium it came back very rare she seemed rather annoyed with us ( she certainly does not believe in the customer always being right ! .) If you read all my previous reviews you will see I do to like to make negative comments but, I do feel this needs a mention as we were very disappointed. It will not spoil the vac we will return I just hope the manager will become more professional in her attitude. Thank you to the rest of the staff who made us feel very welcome.

We’re currently staying on Keswick lodge retreat and visited copper fells yesterday evening. Due to the bad weather we were unable to venture far and decided last minute to eat in the restaurant, as we were staying in the lodges didn’t think this would be an issue. We arrived in the restaurant at 5.30pm and when we asked if we could have a table for 5 adults (we also had our baby and dog with us) we were told they were fully booked however everywhere looked pretty empty (I appreciate there may have been more booings later) as we had our dog with us we only wanted a table in the bar area and eventually the waitress reluctantly said we could have a table in the bar area under the tv if we were to place our order in the next 5 minutes. We decided what we wanted quickly and went to place our order at the bar. The bar staff seemed to be harassed and made us feel like an inconvenience for being there! Overall we felt very tense and on edge as if we shouldn’t have been there. Whilst we were waiting for our food a waitress then came over and without asking turned the tv volume up high because the rugby final was on which as a result woke our 4 month old baby up!

After booking onsite for a long weekend, we booked a table for our first night. The waitress was so lovely and friendly, I wish I knew her name to give her a special mention. We ordered nibbles, starters and a main as we were both starving and expected them to come in that order. Another waitress brought out our starters of black pudding and ham terrine for my husband and goats cheese with mushrooms for myself. As we weren't expecting these we sent them away but our original waitress came over, apologised and said they'd all be done together and our nibbles of bread with assorted butters and whitebait came out also. Whilst the food looked and tasted lovely, it was overwhelming to be faced with a table of food. She said she would speak to the chef to ensure it wouldn't happen again. I don't know if this impacted our main dishes but when my husbands steak pudding came, it was very dry, as though it had been cooked/standing for too long. It did look impressive though. My meal of chicken curry survived the wait. We couldn't manage a dessert. We would definitely visit again but hope things come out with better timing.

Visited with the family twice whilst staying in one of the lodges. First visit-pleasant, friendly service, food acceptable with no complaints although it would be nice to see a salad on the menu. Second visit-completely different, the waitress Megan appeared completely disinterested to the point of being quite rude, my husband and I were both quite shocked by her attitude. The service was slow, food this time sub standard. My chicken pasta lacked both chicken and pasta but plenty sauce and my husband said his burger was dry and the coleslaw had ‘seen better days’ I asked one of the servers if there was a different chef working that night and was surprised she said no. To top it off, the first evening we reserved we were asked ‘any special occasion?’ there wasn’t but the second night we reserved we did tell them it was our son’s 10th Birthday tea-this was completely ignored and he was a little disappointed. We’d definitely return to the lodges as they are outstanding but probably not eat in the restaurant again.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch, service and food was excellent as a party of 6. Returned on Weds as a party of 8. Sat to a table with no offer of water as we had on the previous visit sat for about 30 mins waiting for our order to be taken (we had already decided as the menu is in the welcome pack of the lodge). The food eventually came after another wait with no mention of the delay. The 1st meal was nothing liked we had ordered so was taken away and nothing mentioned for a while when we were told the order had been input wrong and it would follow... it came about the same time as the others had finished. Being a typical Brit I do not complain but felt the need to, I asked the manager for the bill and raised by complaint, It was like she did not want to take the comments I were making and said "did you like it when it came" not in a nice way and I said "no" the risotto was stodgy, she then said she would knock it off the bill and walked away with no further discussion to be had. It was on the bill the young waitress brought so i sent it back and had a revised one raised. Maybe the manager could do with some customer service training?

Visited over the valentines period booking a table, late evening. When we arrived to the front desk we were rudely greeted by Carol and taken to our table with very little chat, we were literally ushered in and quickly forgotten about. We ordered our drinks and food and again her attitude was rather poor as if she did not want us to be there. Our starters arrived, presentation very poor whilst flavour was non existent. That can also be said for the main course; lamb was relatively nice but very processed almost microwaveable and the sides also very plain. Also ordered the chicken pasta which was very bland. The chicken was cut into perfect cubes with no flavour and of a hard rubbery texture. When asked mid meal about our meals the staff could not stick around long enough to hear our complaints. When they collected our plates the chicken pasta was virtually untouched left to be returned Carol yet again asked why the meal had been left, when we stated it was disgusting she stated sternly that we could have had them replaced and should have said something earlier whilst walking away. However we knew already from a nearby customer that the kitchen appliances had all been switched off for cleaning and therefore our meals could not be replaced! We were made to pay approximately £60 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks for virtually disgusting food (incl one meal left untouched) and appalling service! Would not visit again, it is a shame the quality of the bar & brasserie could not reflect that of the lodges!

First impressions the pub looks great just exactly what you want from a pub in the lakes. We were the first people in there for a meal so promptly sat down with our order taken. As around 4 other couples came into the empty restaurant we were slightly surprised that they were all sat directly around us as in uncomfortably close considering the rest of the restaurant was empty. The food itself was decently priced however the chips definitely tasted like frozen bagged ones from a supermarket which was slightly disappointing. Burger itself was nice however and the risotto I am told was also nice and creamy. Overall to be fair with a few tweaks could easily have hit the 4/5 mark

The food here is overpriced for what you get. Was expecting better quality food for the price. My partner order gammon steak, chips and peas, the chips where out of a bag and not home cooked like you would expect and the gammon thin and poor quality. Disappointed in the food. Good friendly service untill we complained about the food

The furnishings here are new and modern and no complaints there. The food is good but not great. Prices a little on the high side but not terrible considering it the lakes.

Not bad for an onsite restaurant. Had an enjoyable meal. Had to book a table for 5 30, had wanted to book for a later slot. The restaurant was nearly deserted until after 7pm. Service slightly slow but the waitress were friendly. Food warm and filling. Enough choice in the menu for all 6 off us.

Visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch. Informed that booking was essential however restaurant was not busy! We had Beef and Chicken Sunday lunch, portion size small however tasty. Food price high but as expected for onsite restaurant. Restaurant area lovely and staff very pleasant. Would probably return when staying at Keswick Reach.

We had dinner here twice whilst staying at Keswick Reach. Not a large variety but a good variety and generous portions.

Advised to book as gets busy. So did. After travelling for a few hours thought lets keep it simple and eat on site. Was asked if any special occasion. Yes. Anniversary.

Stayed at the Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat and had dinner in the Copper Fells Restaurant. Good food and excellent service but table layout could be better to cater for parties of 4. Good selection on menu but crayfish was not available on nights we were there, Overall well worth a visit.

Service terrible even on a quiet evening. Entered with drinks, glasses still sat on our table 3 hours later. Ordered, very fast service. Mains arrived burnt but nobody did a check back for 20 minutes. When we eventually got an acknowledgement, the dishes were replaced but we had to wait for a further half hour. When finished, we asked for 2 coffees, an Amaretto and a brandy. We received the coffees but 2 brandy’s. I sent one brandy back, obviously and the girl came back to say they had no Amaretto ..... why not tell me this in the first place. Bill was also wrong. Overall, terrible food and service. Shame as the park itself is faultless

advised to book a table as restaurant does get very busy, not disappointed at all with food or service. Table for 7 each with different choice of food no complaints all with decent sized portions, what more do you want?

We had a stay over and a meal with work in the restaurant and the staff were superb and couldn't do enough to help. The food was lovely and the location & interior are pretty amazing.

Food very tasty, staff friendly and attentive, location great. We have stayed in the lodges here a number of times and eaten at the restaurant in quite a few occasions. The site is fantastic on both setting and standard of presentation, and the bar and restaurant compliment that. My only suggestion would be a better selection of real ales, even if only bottled. Excellent!

We visited on a Monday night whilst staying at the Retreat (i've done a seperate review for that as I don't think its fair for the overall stay to be put down a rating because of the restaurant).

We ate in the Copper Fells twice during our stay at Keswick reach, once off the evening menu and once for Sunday lunch. In my opinion the food was excellent, there was a good choice in both instances and what we received was very tasty. As far as we thought the prices of both the food and drink was very fairly priced, and exactly what we would expect to pay for what we had.

If you have a dog you can eat in the Bar dining area. Book as this area is small and fills up in the evening.

We had booked a table for my wife and I for Saturday 29th April. Unbeknown to me my wife had told them I would be celebrating my 65th birthday on May 1st. We were shown to our table which was bedecked with Happy Birthday banners and other bits and pieces which I thought was very kind of the staff to do. Our main waitress for the night was a lovely ladt called Maia who looked after incredibly well. The food was absolutely delicious and the service first rate. To top it all half way through the meal I was presented with a bottle of fizz courtesy of the restaurant. Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant for good food and excellent sevice. A great night.

Honestly my favourite restaurant in Cockermouth. Great service. Kind and pleasant waitress and delicious food every time. All for a reasonable price too. Can't fault it. Great atmosphere and a lovely evening meal out!
