Coopers in Croydon

Outside of the halloumi fries, which were delicious, the food was not great. Had the "jerk chicken" which was abysmal, and my friend had a hake dish with mussels that was passable. The service was substandard, slow, inattentive and lackadaisical.

Overrun by dogs. Dirty, wet dogs sitting on chairs that customers then sit on, dogs barking non stop, dog's eating food from their owners plates, 2 two dogs play fighting with each other who then loudly knocked over a couple of chairs. I mean, is this meant to be a restaurant? You would easily mistake it for a doggy day care. When are restaurants - which are supposed to be clean, hygienic and atmospheric places going to realise that dogs do not align with those values. I bet you are losing more customers than you think you're gaining by allowing a constant stream of dogs and their inconsiderate owners in. Such a shame because the breakfast I had here was quite nice.

Just moved to the area and already been here multiple times for brunch. Great value, food, service and setting.

Popped in for a work lunch. The interior was gorgeous, the staff were lovely and the food was to die for. Highly recommend the savoury pancakes!

Great spot for Brunch with views over the city

I had a lovely meal here tonight and I was really happy with the value for money. Most places in CP are charging £18 for a burger and over £7 for a pint. It made a really refreshing change to see burgers priced at £15 and pints of Pravha for £5! What an absolute bargain. Staff were friendly and I loved the fact that the whole of the front of the building opens up, especially in this lovely warm weather. Food was delicious and the pints are served nice and cold. It’s in a great location right in the Centre of Crystal Palace.

Stopped in for lunch. Nice looking place and friendly staff. Food was really good. Service was a bit erratic though. Our main course turned up OK, but when we ordered two espressos they took ages to arrive. Same happened when we asked for the bill. Place wasn't busy. Still the food was so good I'd be happy to visit again.

I ordered sweet pancakes and was given savoury ones. They were remade hassle free, but there was no apology or anything, just a "oh I thought you said savoury". When they arrived they were nice, but slightly on the small side. When the bill arrived I was surprised to find that despite the mistake, service charge had been added. I won't be in a rush to return, which is a shame, because it was a lovely looking place.

Loved the brunch (and i’m an eggs brunch expert 😂), very nice vibe, and service is superb!! I ordered hollaindaise sauce by mistake as i can’t have it, and the chef came out and did again the dish for me without the sauce for no charge. Very kind!! Will be back for sure. Superb juices too!!

Portions were tiny. Felt ripped off. 12 quid for a full English that was barely a 1/3 of one you could get anywhere else.

Recommend Coopers fully- met Krishna and her husband that both work there. So charming and wonderful. Ask Krishna to make you a spicy pineapple margarita. You won’t be disappointed.

Despite having eaten and paid and left, I feel like maybe I am still somehow waiting for my food, having waited about forty minutes for pancakes that, albeit a much lesser quality, my five year old can pump out in about seven minutes. The food was really, REALLY good but I feel sad that I can't go back, even on a Saturday morning, because they are so slow that I cannot reasonably guarantee I will have received the food in time for work on Monday morning. TL; DR great food, surreal delays. The slow death of the universe marches on and if you're lucky the bill will come after that.

Coopers has decent food, pleasant cocktails, is reasonably priced and the atmosphere is relaxed. Unfortunately, although the staff are nice, I've experienced two long waits for food (over and just under an hour), lukewarm food, and a bit of a shrug when the issues were mentioned. I accept that I may have been unlucky, but the management has declined to respond. On that basis, it's off the list of go-to places.

We were there at 12 for brunch earlier today. When we arrived, they didnt have our booking in their system. We were offered a table but it was still dirty and had to request to get it cleaned.Waiters didn't take the inititiative of doing so. Order was taken fairly promptly but got provided with a fork, then 10 minutes later the knife then 10 minutes later the glasses with no water. Had to request a water jug 3 times. Ordered a couple of smoothies. It took 40 minutes to get them after we asked our waiters twice. Barely any mixed berries, tasteless, watery. Wondering what they used to make them. Didnt finish them.Then we got the food. No sauce provided and waiters were running away as much as possible. Though fairly friendly the service was very poor. The portion was very small, the steak was very dry. It was served with avocado even though it's not written on the menu. Stains on the side of the plate... What was it? For the savoury pancakes the best part was the bacon and the maple syrup. Pancakes and all the rest were.. meh...While we understand it was a bank holiday, half the restaurant was empty with a lot of tables booked for earlier times and no one showing up. And yet they were turning away people. Either they need to retrain their employees from service to kitchen or hire more qualified staff. ..Anyway won't go there again..or just for a coffee? at most. .. Ps: received an email from operations manager who supposedly invited us back » And never replied to any of our following emails. So yes that’s the kind of standards/ service you guys deliver.

I visited two months ago with high hopes for a delicious brunch experience. I ordered the savoury pancakes but was served sweet pancakes instead. Edited: though not getting the right order last time, the food was excellent and I’ve since returned to try the savoury pancakes. The customer service has been great this time. Would recommend!

Fantastic! Great local spot for food and gorgeous martinis! One of my favourite spots in Crystal Palace, aA hidden gem that you should definitely know about. - shout out to Jean (who's also the name of my friends grandma!) for fantastic service!

Exceptional service and food was cooked to perfection. Delightful way to spend a chilled Saturday. Jean makes a mean cockytail - just like my grandma (name twins). Would recommend to a friend or neighbour! Thanks Coopers!

Great Thurs eve meal, ordered 2 small 2 large plates for 2 and everything was excellent. Beer from down the road in Gipsy Hill and wine v reasonable. Really well thought out dishes simple but super tasty.

Found this little gem in Crystal Palace. Food was great and the service especially from Rod is top notch! We found the menu to be just the right amount of selection not overwhelming like other places. Easy to choose from whether you want a substantial meal or something light and healthy. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back this place, pet friendly too!

Service in the restaurant was the best part of the experience very friendly staff and polite. My fried chicken burger was disappointing as there was not very much chicken in it just a lot of batter. I can’t comment on the COD dish which was also ordered as I did not taste it. Place is dog friendly 🐕

Brunch here was good, the vegan full English was done well, service was a bit slow and faltering but overall the visit was worthwhile.

Positive things - friendly cheerful waiters, great premises decor and atmosphere, sensible prices. Not so good - slow service, waiters were inattentive, 2 out of 3 meals were served cold but happily replaced, the vegan brunch was served with a side of dairy butter (!), and no discount offered as compensation. Did not like dogs being allowed in an eating space it’s unhygienic. Shame this could be a gold mine if the staff were given proper training

This place is nice, but had a bit of a weird cocktail experience I ordered a Lovely Jubbly which is Absolut vanilla, Lillet Blanc, Prosecco and raspberries. I was brought what looked like just a glass of Prosecco. Which is £4 cheaper than the cocktail. I questioned it with the waiter as I thought it would a least have a raspberry in it. And he said it is premixed ahead of time. So I just carried on with it, but it only tasted of Prosecco. So either it’s not a very good cocktail or it wasn’t right. I dunno. Feel a bit ripped off with that. Other than that food was nice.

I had a wonderful experience at this pub! The service was impeccable, with Klaus, Stefano, and Safin going above and beyond to ensure my visit was enjoyable. The drinks were poured generously, and the food was delicious. A special shout out to Klaus for his kindness in contacting me about a lost item. I'm truly grateful for their collaboration in finding it. I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking great customer service and tasty food. Please everyone try it out, it worth it. Again, thank you guys for everything ❤️

Edit - original review below. I’ve loved coming here and even spent NYE here which had issues too but today I came here for brunch with a friend. Asked for sugar, never got it as nothing on tables and they forgot to then bring any. No water offered. Missing items on plate and hadn’t realised until the table next to us got the same meal with items I didn’t get. Sourdough was so toasted , it was like a brick and would break your teeth if you ate it. Asked for medium rare steak (although waitress didn’t ask how I wanted the steak which is unusual so when we’d finished ordering I mentioned how I’d like it) but it arrived medium to well done so am thinking they don’t ask because you must have it well done? Asked for bill, never got it. Again, forgotten. I’m not sure I’d go back here anymore. In the last week, Coopers you are getting 1 and 2 stars from other diners too. You are losing your customers :-( but on the good side, it does look like you read these reviews and care so please sort the issues out as we’ve been regulars since you opened. Been here a few times now. Cocktails are really good!! We’ve always tended to have lots of small plates and everything we’ve had is really well priced and tasty. Atmosphere is loud when busy and has a nice vibe. As the evening goes on, you do find it more of a problem to get anybody’s attention to get another drink/food etc and that’s happened twice so would be good to get more staff on Fri/Sat nights.

Really disappointed by my experience at Coopers. From the outside, you would expect it to be the perfect brunch spot but it fell short for me. We struggled to get a servers attention to place an order and waited around 20 mins to be seen to. The pancake stack arrived cold which we sent back. It was replaced (on the same plate, with the same eggs) with only new pancakes and bacon which were still only lukewarm. We ate this second plate as we were hungry (a total of 40 mins since we arrived). Servers didn’t check on us from the rest of the meal. It seemed as though they were understaffed. The only time we got attention was when we wanted to pay.

Wated 10 minutes for a waiter. Ordered drinks. Waited 25 minutes for the drinks. Ordered Pancakes. arrived cold. Will not be going back.

Great food and friendly service. Eva has excellent customer service skills. Ordered a Coopers Full English and was able to make a few amends which was no issue to the chef. The dessert was lovely too; warm brownie and vanilla ice-cream. The special hot chocolate was very creamy and a nice treat with added chocolate chips (EVA recommended and it did not disappoint) and the mint tea was refreshing. A lovely spot to come down and do some work on your laptop for the day. Not too loud and comfortable seating with plugs available.

To be always honest, I am updating my review as I updated my rate from 5 to 3. It is still as I mentioned down but a recommendation do not go on Saturdays for brunch! We waited for 45 minutes for the food, half an hour for drinks, with the wrong tea and then charged us for a mistake they made. The food still great. The waiters are still nice. I just think they are understaffed. The original review (which I believe still valid for other weekdays other than Saturday) One of the great places in Crystal Palace. I would like to recommend it for brunch and coffee and most importantly sweets. The waitress was lovely and responsive with a great smile. If you are in Crystal Palace. Go and visit.

Lovely place with friendly staff and delicious food!

First time coming here and won’t be back. Table dirty, had to ask for menus, forgot one of our drinks, then had to ask for our order to be taken to 2 separate people who continued to do nothing about it. We left in the end. Interior is grubby and needs updating.

After God created the heavens and earth, seperated the seas and skies, gathered the waters and grew the vegetation, on the seventh day he rested. What the bible's authors failed to document was that on that day, an overwhelming hunger manifested In Him, one that could not be satiated only with vegetation he had created. So after resting on the seventh day, lo and behold in all its glory, he created coopers who have served me up the single best chicken burger I have ever had. Truly a 10/10 life changing experience and any chicken fan would need to get there tail feathers down to the restaurant asap.

Came here for New Years brunch with a few of my huns and it was an absolutely darling experience. The food was to die for and the drinks were tantalising treats, I had to stop myself ordering more cocktails otherwise I would have fallen off my seat!! Will definitely be coming back again, especially after chatting to the absolute sweethearts of a manager and the rather attractive bartender Michelangelo 👀

I've just returned from lunch with my family. We have never been to Coopers before and sadly we wont be going there again. Starting with the positives, it's a nice bright airy dining space, albeit it a little grubby around the edges. However, the positives stop there I am afraid. Firstly it took them ages to take our order. We were sat for so long my son who is 8 and was starving asked if we could leave and find somewhere else to eat. Eventually they took our order but it again took over 20 minutes for the coffees to arrive and a further 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Disappointingly, upon much anticipated arrival, my chicken burger and fries were stone cold. They had clearly been sat on the pass for ages. My sons pancakes were Luke warm but he was so hungry by that point he started to eat them but gave up halfway through saying they were too cold and not very nice. My husband said his full English was nice, which was a plus. I very rarely send back food but I asked if they could bring me a hot burger because it was stone cold. It soon became clear they just heated mine up under some kind of grill because it came back shortly after and both the bun and the chicken inside it were rock hard from being blasted under a broiler. We finally got our bill and I noticed that the decaf coffee I ordered was down as a regular coffee. I asked the waiter if he could please check if they gave me a decaf as ordered and he came back saying that they had taken the coffee off the bill. So I asked again, was the coffee not decaf and he paused for a long moment, looking incredibly uncomfortable before telling me it was decaf. Now my question here is why would they take the coffee off the bill if they hadn't messed it up. The waiter was clearly lying to me, he looked so uncomfortable by the whole exchange. I am not allowed to have caffeine and I am now sat at home with a resting heart beat of over 110 because if this mess up. It's clear the waiting staff in this establishment are incompetent. It was a dreadful dining experience. I would please ask the management to have a word with their staff. Some people cannot have caffeine (including those who are pregnant and those who have medical conditions). Their mistake today is now going to ruin the rest of my day and cost me this evening. I am absolutely gutted and for them to lie about it is outrageous. In addition, I don't understand why there were so many waiting staff wandering around and the service be so slow. Really disappointing experience overall.

Lovely, versatile restaurant, friendly staff and delicious, freshly cooked food. Stefano, the chef, made sure my friends and I had a memorable experience. We had a selection of seafood for starters, followed by steaks & grilled veggies. Portions were perfect and allowed us to have a shared portion of pudding, too.

My dear friend Inaccurate(GDPR compliant) was very happy to have her already quite spicy Bloody Mary topped up with extra spice. Gorgeous view unless people park in front of the window. The waitress cleaned the window table just for us which was nice. Food was delicious worth taking anti-histamines for. 5/5

Food was good and service professional, unfortunately the heating was not a level to really enjoy our meal...

If fresh ingredients were used it would have ranked higher eg all of my rocket leaves were wilted undressed and inedible. Only a bar person and waiting person for the whole restaurant (which meant no table service in reality - no one had cleaned table nor checked if food was ok as seemed really understaffed). Real pity, hope it was a one off. Decor is gorgeous, huge potential.

Good cafe, nice brunch and cocktails. Evening menu a little limited when I went previously. Have had a couple of issues with booking cancelled and no walk-ins on another due to a system problem and then short staffing.

Old tea room style, stained glass looks amazing. Food and drinks were lovely, they could do with another person in the kitchen to help cook breakfasts

Had some coffee and cake here during the day time. Nice relaxed place to sit and get some work done. There are a few plug sockets by some of the tables if you have a laptop but must tables don’t have a plug. Didn’t stay for dinner but the food menu looked good.

Portuguese Eggs: Delicious brunch. Portion a bit small, could benefit from being increased to 2 eggs. I added feta cheese which elevated it. Amazing. They were busy but they found us a table. Service fantastic.

What a delightful place! Dog friendly AND steak available for breakfast!! Food was super tasty, service was impeccable and I love the decor! From a neurodivergent perspective though, it’s a difficult setting due to the abundance of hard furnishings over soft making noise overstimulation a struggle. I imagine it’d be a very difficult environment in the evening.

We come here regularly for brunch, always have a pleasant experience. Today It was the first time I tried the flat iron steak, asked for cooked tomatoes.. They were delicious, they had been stewed down somewhat and were bursting with flavour and seasoning, a nice addition to the rest of the meal, yum hash brown tots too mmm.. Would definitely have that again next time. Coffee was good, service is consistent. Not too noisy, nice and airy. Thank you

Went here for a group brunch, nice and spacious restaurant. Food and drinks were both excellent. Interesting decor lots of stained glass panels, will definitely be back. Was quite busy on a Sunday so would recommend booking!

As a regular at coopers I’ve never had a bad experience. Great food and drinks, as well as wonderful service. So when my partner and I asked the GM Cat if we can have our wedding reception at Coopers I knew it’d be fantastic. Cat and the whole team at Coopers went above and beyond for our wedding, all our guests were amazed by the food, and are still talking about the evening. We couldn’t have asked for any more. Thanks so much to you all for making our wedding reception so special!

Coopers is amazing! But more importantly Cat, the GM is an incredible human and host. We had our wedding reception at Coopers and the whole team went above and beyond. My go to place for brunch, it's delicious and normally really friendly service. Had a rude, but more bizarre experience today with who I am guessing is the manager. There wasn't any salt or pepper on my table, and so I went to look for some. (no biggie, and not an issue). I was asked by the member of staff quite aggressively, whether or not I had tried the food before wanting the seasoning. Confused at this point, I said I hadn't, but wanted to have the seasoning ready (I was unsure why I was being asked to justify wanting salt and pepper) the person then said, I should try the food, and in a way that came across like they were offended at my asking, stated that they do "actually season the food here, it's not like there's no seasoning". It was so bizarre to be spoken to like this after a really simple request for salt and pepper. It left myself and my friends feeling really uncomfortable. I don't know if the person was having a bad day, or whether they felt offended at my request for salt and pepper, but it's really not cool to treat your customers (or anyone) like that. When we had coffee we all felt nervous to ask for sugar, in case we offended anyone, it's ridiculous. Used to be or go to place, but will not be back.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service! The crew at Coopers will always ensure you’re looked after. They have phenomenal coffee and I highly recommend their eggs Benedict.

Great quick friendly service and good coffee. Unfortunately, my eggs were undercooked and were very snotty and the food wasn't that hot. This really put me off the eggs benedict. Ample hollandaise and salmon though. I also ordered hash tots on the side but for £4 I'd expect more than 4 as they were rather small but they did taste great and were v hot. I'll try Coopers again and update my review if better.

Served by Klaus who was friendly and helpful. Food came quickly and highly recommend the Korean burger. Would come back just for that. After a few visits have changed my review. Had a poor experience and emailed in, but no reply. Food has dipped a lot over my last few visits. Currently would recommend other places.

Crystal Palace is so vibrant and diverse. There are many cafes and restaurants along the stretch to choose from. I chose to try out Coopers for brunch and was not disappointed. The waitress was so helpful, and the place was spacious and relaxing. I was curious to taste the Jackfruit stew, which was the first time I've ever seen this on a menu. The blend of flavoring was to the point of no return. I really enjoyed it with smoke salmon as a side dish and Hash Brown. It was too early for me to sample their cocktail, but I will return. Worthwhile checking out Cooper if you're in the area.

Hands down the best brunch in Crystal Palace. Spinach, Brown and Green and Bloom might have some interesting items that you think will trump Coopers offerings, but the flavours aren't great. The actual tastiness of Coopers dishes win every time!

Called in at 10.30 am Saturday 8th July with my Wife and grandson asked for a y to able for 3 and your server didn’t have manners to approach us just shouted from behind the counter you need to book. By the way only 2 tables had customers. Totally understand when you have a nearly full cafe. Disgusting way of treating customers you have lost a customer

I’ve been here a few times and I have really established that it’s not a place to go for an evening meal, the food has no flavour and this was the case for all of the dishes we ordered and it’s been like that every time we’ve been. Good atmosphere so I’d go here for a drink and a snack but not for a meal. We gave our feedback to the staff and they were extremely responsive. Hopefully they will now take this on board because a few reviews are saying the same thing so they need to review their menu.

My daughter and I went in for a quick bite and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. We needed to leave urgently and when we told Kat (our waitress) she was so professional, friendly and accommodating. I can honestly say I don’t think I have experienced such amazing service in any restaurant in London. The ambiance of the restaurant and the friendliness of the staff was exceptional(10/11). I will definitely take my park run friends there to pile on the pounds loss during their run (lol).
