Das lunch menü - ein libanesischer haloumi dürüm/kofte dürüm- war gut! Hervorzuheben, dass der Teig selber gemacht war. Ansonsten wars leider eher fade in Geschmack. Aber ein gutes Essen mit sehr gutem Preis trotzdem! Die knoblauchsauce schmeckt wie purer Knoblauch, die joghurtsauce nach Zatziki ohne Würze. Uns hat die laute Musik beim Essen sehr gestört, da wir uns anschreien mussten, um uns zu verstehen. Der Eistee ist schwerstens zu empfehlen u nettes Personal!

Had stopped and had the lunch special (1/2 chicken - fries - salad ) it was enough for the two of us. Had it with the spicy chilli sauce. Great cocktails, beer and wine selection.

I booked a table for 8 of us and we had a brilliant evening. We had they're set menu for larger groups and it was fantastic.... Starters to share and then the chicken (or veggie option). Great service, lovely food and great value! I would highly recommend.

Von außen denkt man vielleicht nicht an ein Lokal mit gutem Essen, aber wie so oft täuscht man sich! Das Essen wie auch die Cocktails waren sehr gut und das zu einem für London sehr gutem Preis. Das Lokal ist abends auch immer gut gefüllt, daher sollte man für größere Gruppen Plätze reservieren.Zu empfehlen ist auf jeden Fall ein Grillhuhn (1/2 oder ganz)

Ekstremt mør kylling, veldig bra drinker og hyggelig betjening. Bra musikk som gjør at det blir god stemning:) maten var god, men ikke så spennende... Klarer ikke helt å sette fingeren på hva som manglet, men siste touchen var ikke der.. Dessverre..

I had found this place on TA and thought maybe we'd visit during our stay in London. Then we were out and about and ended up in this area hungry, but I could not recall the name or exact location. So I went into a shop to ask if they knew of a Lebanese restaurant nearby. The clerk said no, but got on his computer to search. We came up empty, so I was walking away when I spotted the Cookhouse Joe name really just 20 meters from the shop. That's it! It is a small place but we got a table. Service was a bit slow, but the food was sooo worth it. Inexpensive too. Wash it down with a pitcher of white Sangria. Amazing find.

Great atmosphere and staff. We chose this restaurant based on trip advisor ratings and reviews and we were delighted with our choice. A limited menu of beautifully cooked and prepared food, we had the BBQ chicken with loads of sides it was great. Lovely cocktails and a great recommendation for a coffee bar round the corner. Honest good food and staff. Great

Cookhouse Joe's lunch wraps + chips for £5 is great value for money and the wraps are delicious. I recommend the kofta or chicken. The wraps are quite large and filling and there's a reasonable amount of chips. Next time I will be trying for rotisserie chicken as that looks like delicious as well!

We'd left it late for dinner before the theatre and jumped in here out of desperation. The four of us all ordered chicken with either hot sauce or garlic with sides. The chicken was great and the garlic sauce I'd have taken on its own with some crusty bread..........GREAT. When we came in we told the staff we were running late and they got the four of us in and out with no fuss in forty minutes. Would definitely go again when in Soho.

I love this restaurant! Visited previously and this time we went as a bunch of girls. The staff are ace and the owner is brilliant at remembering customers and my gluten free needs nothing it too much bother. And the food!! It was just as good as I remembered it so many highlights to mention you need to try to experience it! Love the vibe the meal with cocktails was £30 pp for copious amounts of top quality food and only wish I was nearer as it would be my regular haunt! Oh well next time in London I'll see you again!!

Rotisserie Chicken at its finest, wife drank 2 martini's she said were lovely, haloumi salad was stuffed with goodies and the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. We both loved our food, the price was right and we will go back, for sure!

I booked here for a Saturday night for me and my boyfriend based on the Trip Advisor reviews. The website is rubbish, so I had to search on Google Images to find a photo of the menu.I'm glad I booked as there was a big party downstairs so it was quite busy. We ordered a whole chicken, Fattoush salad, fries and coleslaw between us and a couple of beers. In total it came to around £35 without tip which I thought was really reasonable - we were stuffed.The chicken was moist and very tasty. A good selection of sauces came with it and the chilli one was my favourite with a satisfying kick. The fries were also really good and we got a good portion, although not sure if it was a single or double portion.We had a show scheduled for later on so we sat in the restaurant for a good 30 - 40 minutes after we finished our meal and no one hassled us to order more drinks, or pay up and leave. It was very relaxed.

I've been to this restaurant a bunch of times and was back at the weekend with friends, always great food, cocktails and brilliant staff. Best haloumi....and favourite place in the area.

After being disappointed at Al Masar, I decided to compensate the day with a real Lebanese food. I checked and this restaurant somehow had 4.5/5 so I went there for dinner.I will be brief;- Serving hummus in tin cans is absolutely a health risk hazard. The can was already showing some rust!- Hummus served wasn't done well. The skin that separates from the chickpeas when boiling should be filtered away. Wasn't done! So hummus was grainy and not creamy. - Falafel was served with no vegetables. That's a saving that makes this food too dry to eat without greens and tomatoes.3- Halloumi was very well done with the right grill level and cream butter taste! One point!4- Chicken wings were almost burned. See picture. I noted that to the waitress but she didn't even bother to explain or apologize.Place was crowded being in such a busy central street of London. Maybe the drinks are good but I tried a bottle of wine so I can't judge their bartender's talent.I really find it weird that people vote high to this restaurant that offers nothing better than fast food. It's not the quality that Lebanese should offer! Another fake .. Don't go!

Friendly staff & great food makes for a top restaurant. Reasonable prices too for central London. I work locally so regularly lunch here as do colleagues, we'd be lost without this place!!

I went here with my wife, for a quick dinner prior to a show at the Soho Theatre. This is not my first time here, but it is my first review for this place. The food is quite simply absolutely lovely. It's freshly cooked, is simple and extremely tasty. My tip is to buy a chicken to share and supplement with sides so everyone can enjoy what the menu has to offer - you won't be dissapointed.

I went for a friend's birthday and we had the set menu - which is a GREAT option for groups. Food was delicious; chicken was divine, haloumi was a real treat, and it was maybe one of the best tzatzikis I've tried. Garlic sauce is pretty potent and not for the faint hearted (or those trying to woo someone's heart)! My only gripe was that my stomach wasn't big enough to fit more in. It's definitely not authentic lebanese, but with a name like 'Cookhouse Joe', who's expecting it to be? Drinks are bought separately at the bar, or ordered through a waitress and paid for on the spot, which makes dividing the food bill at the end painless. It's nether cheap, nor expensive, but I felt the prices were an accurate reflection of the value. It's not going to be awarded a michelin star anytime soon, but it is an exemplary option in the mid-priced, casual dining field, probably even one of the best I've been to in London, and that's why I gave it 5 stars.

Decided to try the new addition to the Cookhouse Joe family. Overall pretty good. It was a bit after lunchtime and the restaurant was almost empty, though soon started to fill up due to the footfall from the busy Soho area. Same tried and tested formula and we certainly couldn't complain about the quality of food nor the price - excellent value. If you are in need of a quick, good value meal then you can't go wrong with Cookhouse Joe!

Everything about the restaurant and food is what makes Soho the only place to dine! Great food, service, value! Nothing bad to say, try it for yourself!

Expected so much more based on the reviews. Chicken was extremely dry and ordinary tasting!!! The wrap was hard as well. French fries were awesome however.

Overall, the restaurant was a disappointment based on its high reviews. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The garlic sauce was very strong flavored. However, the french fries were very good and the price is reasonable.

Located right in the heart of buzzling Soho. Went on a friday evening, got a table upstairs which had nice groovy and not too loud ambience. Compared to soho's average places, this was very nice and not overly crowded. Food was delicious especially considering the price. I'd recommend as a nice cheerful laid back place before going out for some drinks.

This has quickly become our favourite place to hang out. Amazing cocktails, delicious food and such good prices!!In particular, the chicken and halloumi are succulent, to not mention the yummy fries.James is the best host and all the girls are fabulous too. War gut, aber nicht anders als aus Mamas/Omas Küche. Ein gutes Huhn mit mittelmäßigen Soßen (Chili - extrem scharf, Knoblauch - extremst intensiv, Gurke - gut).

Se vi recate in questo localino all'ora di pranzo potrete approfittare dell'offerta lunch: un mezzo polletto ruspante (dalla carne tenerissima), una salsa, patate fritte e un altro contorno (a scelta tra insalata fresca, mais o insalata di cavoli e ravanelli con maionese) a 7 £. Le porzioni sono sufficienti a soddisfare un buon appetito. Per una rapida ma piena pausa pranzo è l'ideale.

This place is, on all measures, average. We went, without reservations, for an early dinner. When asked if we had reservations, there was some hesitancy to seat us until the owner stepped in and said to seat us at one end of a very large empty table. Makes us wonder about the staff's problem solving capabilities. The restaurant itself is a small, "hole in the wall" place that is clean and inviting. The dishes are simple and range from okay (humus) to very good (falafel and tabbouleh). We did not taste the chicken that everyone raves about. The wait staff was relatively attentive but disappeared by the time we finished leaving us to stop another to pay. Bottom line: this is a good, fairly priced small casual place with good food. If you are looking for a nice dinner out, this is not the place for you. If, however, you simply want a decent serving of mediterranean food, give this place a try.

Tasty rotisserie chicken, the best I've found in the UK. Also the set menu is great, a good variety of Lebanese food at a fantastic price. Service was outstanding along with the perfect ambiance. I dined with friends but will definitely be going back with the husband.

Order any chicken dish, special offer with a group where one half the menu is on offer. Staff friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. Great for group of friends or casual business meal. Lovely Lebanese side dishes. Not too adventurous for those overseas visitors who might be timid to try something different. I would recommend this place. Burgers look great but the chicken is the dish to order. Right in the heart of Soho so location is great.

We went for a few drinks and decided to eat small little small with tiny winding staircase up to further eating area. We got chatting to the owner and he and the staff were really friendly we ended up on the cocktails and the espresso martini was to die for!check it out for a cheap and delicious eat out

I've eaten a lot of chicken in London, and this place definitely does the best chicken. I've eaten here many times the chicken is that good. They do a set menu for 4 people (?) - I think it's £15 which gives you three or four courses, and a big chicken finale course. It's what I usually recommend if I'm there with a group. The food here is always good, and the drink selection is also good. If you're in Soho, and you're looking for somewhere welcoming, then definitely check out Cookhouse Joe.

Visited with friends after work, all the food was great, easily the best chicked I've ever had by far! Sides were so tasty we kept ordering more. Great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

A real gem, right in Old Compton street with delish food and drink. A lovely, warm and calm atmosphere away from the bustle of soho - the perfect place to take a break, sip a Rioja, accompanied by the tastiest halloumi and falafel I've ever tried ( and normally falafel isn't my thing!) Haven't Eaten a full meal there but all the food coming out of the kitchen looked mouthwatering and I'm planning to return regularly to try everything!

Another fabulous visit to Cookhouse joes....This place is tops! Theres always a warm welcome from the owner and the staff are super friendly too. Our food was delicious, chicken wings with garlic sauce a must an its the best falafel in town without question. Great value, lovely staff and in the heart of Soho...what more could you want? We came here as a fun end to our company away-day a couple of weeks ago. I had spoken to the owner James a couple of times in advance and he was incredibly friendly, helpful and flexible which made organising a group of 35 far easier than it might have been! We had the whole ground floor to ourselves which created a perfect atmosphere and we were extremely well taken care of - it felt like we were at a private dinner! The food was delicious too, and the informal sharing platters made a big and wonderful change from normal work dinners. I would definitely return here with work or friends in the future, especially because it is such phenomenal value for money...the food just kept on coming!! Thank you to the team at Cookhouse Joe.

Went to cookhouse last week and had a great time with friends. Starting off with cocktails then we had a selection of starters recommended by the helpful staff which were great especially the hallomi ! Had a burger for the main which was lovely. Great atmosphere in the place which added to the experience ! Definitely going back !

I've been coming to cookhouse joe ever since its first restaurant opened on Berwick street. The staff are always so friendly, food is served quickly and always delicious. Really good list of cocktails and drinks. I recently celebrated my 21st birthday here with my family and was well looked after by staff. We opted for the taster menu which is £15 per head and you get a bit of everything from the menu. The food was absolutely delicious and the value is incredible, I've never eaten so much in my life! I would highly recommend it to anybody eating out in Soho.

The food was ok. Appetizers were actually a little more enjoyable than my main course. The menu is fairly simple. You can either choose from one of three burgers or a rotisserie chicken. My wife opted for the beef burger while I did the lamb burger. Her burger was ok, while mine was extremely over seasoned. To the point you couldn't tell what type of meat you were eating. It was actually so overpowering I didn't finish the burger. The staff didn't really seem to know what was going on. They handed us a short list of cocktails (which in our experience is not normal in London) I asked if there were any on the list that they were known for and no one on staff seemed to understand my question. So I opted for a double rum and diet. Decent pour, fairly hard to screw up. Other than that the staff really never came by at all once we got our food. I had to spend quiet a bit of time flagging someone down just to get the check, and we were the only people on the lower level.If the apps hadn't been good my rating would have been much lower. Definitely shouldn't be ranked #33 in London.

Over the next couple of hours a feast of food was bought to our table starting with hummus and flat bread, olives, various other dips, falafel, salads, peppers, wings, halloumi cheese and then our main course which was several roast chickens, fries and coleslaw. The food was absolutely gorgeous and the service was wonderful, really friendly helpful staff. The total bill came to £30 a head which was incredible value for the food and drink we'd had. If you like long lunches, great food and excellent value for money then would thoroughly recommend Cookhouse Joes. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon, we'll definitely be back!

I'd heard lots of people raving about it and so was keen to try for myself. It tasted quite nice but have to wait for quite a while just for a burger !!

Popped in for drinks as we couldn't stay for food. Such a nice environment and really friendly staff, especially the manager, James. Had a great time, will definitely be visiting to eat too soon as the menu looked fab.

Went there with the family after a day sightseeing and everyone was tired and with sore feet. Had the lamb burger, falafel burger, normal burger and chicken. Everything was perfectly cooked and with a nice spicy after flavour. Great atmosphere and service. Can only recommend this place.

Came here alone a few days ago and wow was the food good. I had the kofta burger with a beer and everything was absolutely delicious. Meat was cooked right and fries were perfectly accompanied with the spicy dip. I'll be back for sure! Keep up the great work guys!

After eating here a few times and loving it. I decided to host my birthday celebrations. I got in touch with James, the owner, and he was more than accommodating with my request for it. I had 30 people turn up and James gave me the lower floor of the restaurant for all my guests. The staff were super attentive, no one was left hungry or without a drink in their hand the whole night.The cocktail selection is fantastic and the food as always delicious. This is a true gem in the centre of London and I just love it. You need to come here and experience it for yourselves.

I've been here a couple of times now, and I haven't been disappointed. I'm fussy about chicken, and the rotisserie chicken here is amazing!, Its tender with an amazing flavour, and the halloumi is the best I've had in London. I've been here both on a date and with a group of friends, and the atmosphere is perfect for both! There aren't many places in London you can get starters, mains with ample sides, and drinks for under £25 per person. Would recommend to anyone!!

La location non è nulla di che (anzi, quando mi ci son trovata davanti ho pensato:"ma è questo?") Lo staff è molto cordiale e disponibile e non si mangia male anche se il menu è davvero ridotto: un pollo, tre tipi di hamburgers e qualche contorno. Molto buone le patatine e il pollo, per niente unti, l'hamburgher un pochino asciutto. Con la varietà di ristoranti che ci sono a Soho non ci tornerei e non lo consiglierei.I decided to dine here after reading the reviews but I would not share them totally.The location isn't anything special (I thought, "but is this?") The staff is very friendly and helpful and I ate well even if the menu is very small: chicken, three types of hamburgers and some side dishes. Very good fries and chicken , not at all greasy , the hamburgers a little dry . With the variety of restaurants that are in Soho, I would not go back and would not recommend it.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere and even better hamburgers. The prices per hamburger are around £9, which isn't too bad of a price (for London). But the staff didn't seem to know all that much about the food; when we asked what cheeses went on the hamburger the waitress said she had no idea, she only saw them being brought out. However she was very friendly. About 15 min after we ordered, our hamburgers came out. The chips (that came with it) were great, and so was everything else, except one hamburger that one person with us ordered. It was overcooked, dry, and had some slightly hard pieces. The other hamburgers were great though, so it is a place I would recommend because almost everything was perfect.

So glad to see successful independent businesses amidst the multitude of faceless chain restaurants. Don't waste your money on Nandos, when you can eat better, cheaper and with a smile at Cookhouse. The Food here at the Old Compton Street restaurant is just as good as their sister restaurant on Berwick Street and they've managed to maintain the great atmosphere too. I would highly it recommend to anyone looking for a fun, tasty and unpretentious meal. Keep up the good work! p.s. The Halloumi, Chicken Wings and Moutabal starters will keep you coming back... :)

A very good place to eat. Quality tasty food at a good price.... It dont get much better. It is worth a visit. But you go once you will go back... Also make aure to try their chilli sauce....... Its NOICE!!!!

I've been a big fan of the other cookhouse on Berwick street since it opened (and their pizza joint on dean street!) so was pleased to hear a sister restaurant has opened on Soho's most famous road! It definitely didn't disappoint - same laid back vibe and interior always vibey and full of interesting people. Food is cheap (as are the spirits!) and never disappointing - amazing Rotisserie chicken with burgers and other Moroccan style salads/humous/flatbread etc.For anyone who hasn't been to one of the cookhouse restaurants they offer the perfect casual lunch, drinks or dinner destination with mates or a date - not expensive and can't beat the location!

Burgers we ordered were tasty but dry. I would have liked some sauce inside to make the bun juicier. Place is quite small and a bit rough but I think it's part of the image. Prices were good and toilets clean. Staff could have made us feel more welcome with a little smile. When we entered there seemed to be no free tables. The guy, who I think was the owner, was sitting in one table with the group that apparently was his friends and when the waitress asked him what to do, he announced that his companions were just leaving. I was pleased not to be made to eat by the bar but at the same time I felt uncomfortable to hurry them off. A comfortable and welcoming atmosphere is what makes little places like this so that's the reason for average rate although the food would deserve 4.

We had a brilliant meal here. Food was delicious and it's so refreshing to be in Soho and be in a relaxed, cool environment. The food really was lovely. We got talking to the owner and it turns out it's an independent family run business. I love that these guys are taking on the big chains in central London. Soho needs more of these. Great place in central London, not too busy not too quiet. excellent prices in such a central location for tasty food. Chicken wings are particularly delicious. Waiting staff are friendly and easy going, nice atmosphere... all in all a very pleasant experience!

Chosen due to previous TA reviews 7 of us rocked up to Cookhouse Joes. And by God it was worth it! We were offered the £15 set menu (for parties over 4) which entailed the whole of the left side of the menu! The food kept coming and the quality and flavour was incredible. So many highlights but loved the halloumi, sauces, chicken, aubergine dip I could go on and on! Kids (yes contrary to other websites they welcome kids with open arms) had burgers which were the best we had tasted. Gluten free me had no problems and were more than happy to provide crudités instead of flatbread, I couldn't have the tabbouleh but judging the faces of my party it was a cracker. Staff were fantastic, friendly and nothing too much trouble. If I could give it 6 stars I would as it is by far the best food I've eaten in a long time.

I have eaten here twice in the space of a week in the last month. I had the lamb burger and it was beautiful. Halloumi starter was great too. We didn't book as we ate around 9.30 and during the week but it gets busy apparantly so booking at busy periods is probably recommended. The price is low for such good food which is a breath of fresh air in central London. The menu is simple with burgers, chicken and various starters but was ample. Definitely coming back here again. Staff were chatty and friendly and sorry i didn't leave a tip on both occasions, had card only, i will make up for it next time!

The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my whole experience. The food was also good. I had the Lebanese Kofta Lamb Burger. The meat was juicy and the chips were crispy. The portion was also filling.

Read the reviews with an open mind! Staff ok but hardly dynamic!Food was nice in an average way ( chicken could have come from any high street supermarket with a rotisserie ) salad was alright , chips were tasty and price was reasonable ! What's all the hype about ???

I can't recommend this restaurant more! My partner and I had an early tea here before seeing a show. I had a halloumi salad with a side of fries and my partner had a lamb kofta burger with a side of coleslaw. It was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly.

Booked this on advice of Tripadvisor from Ireland. Two adults with two hungry teenagers sat down at 7.30. By 9pm, we agreed that we would be back to cookhouse Joe's in the near future. Great staff, great food and a buzz from the happy customers, that gives the bijou restaurant a sense of holidays.

We came here based on the high ratings and was not disappointed!!! Love the food, great service and a brilliant atmosphere.

The restaurant was full but they texted me as soon as a table was free. Good food, we had the kafta hamburgers, halloume cheese, the juicy chicken, some hummus. All was great and service is fantastic. Go there.

I helped organise a special occasion on a Saturday night for a friend and chose Cookhouse Joe as the dinner venue before we went out. As a regular customer, I know the quality of food & service and value for money (especially for central) is amazing, so it was an easy and happy choice!I pre-ordered the set menu when booking as we were a large group with dietary requirements and I just wanted everything organised for when we got there. We were happily accommodated by James. On the night, the service was so good and our food and drinks flowed, so we were able to enjoy the evening and focus on the celebrations. Everyone was extremely impressed being first timers to Cookhouse Joe and we all had a great time as we were well taken care of. I couldn't have asked for more!

Very very poor food, can't believe so many people said this place was excellent. The décor is very dated and the restaurant cramped. The side dishes were horrible, the pita bread stale and the falafel overcooked. I had half chicken for my main dish, was completely bland and had no flavour to it! Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone...avoid unless you want to be disappointed like me.

Went here with a friend last night, because it was rated the #1 Restaurant/Pub in London on Trip Advisor. So wanted to see what all the fuss was about.First impressions were good, it looks atmospheric inside and the staff were friendly. However, we were shown upstairs to an empty dining area, devoid of any personality. Sadly we were the only people up there for a while and then one other group arrived, but that was it. So not alot of atmosphere up there. To make matters worse, towards the end of our meal, they put the chairs up on the tables towards the back of the room we were in. Very poor show, considering it wasn't particularly late and more importantly, we were still eating!The Chicken was fairly good, although perhaps the superlative descriptions abounding on this Review site are somewhat over egging it. It was moist, but not particularly warm and flavoursome. The sauces that came with the chicken were good - although I found the garlic one rather overpowering! We had the Halloumi and also some Tambouleh on the side. Again the praise heaped on the Halloumi is I feel somewhat overstated. I have eaten alot of Halloumi in my time and this was fairly average. The Tambouleh was excellent though and a very generous portion. We had a side order of fries aswell - nicely done. It sadly doesn't do draft beers, but the Lebanese beers we had were very good. The service is quick and the place is very good value.So overall, I think this place is overrated - very poor table management upstairs, combined with fairly standard quality chicken, means I fail to see how it keeps getting an excellent rating. In a part of town stuffed with excellent restaurants, I would go elsewhere.

Booked this after reading the Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. Two of us had half chicken each with sides of humous, fries, salad and falafel. Food was to die for, awesome flavours. Bill came to £42 inc beers which was also great value for money. Is this the best in London? After visiting kaspers at The Savoy I would say not but if you want great flavours at a great price it is hard to beat.

Cookhouse Joe's is the bomb and you can get change out of a £10enner. The wings are incredibly juicy, char-grilled to finish, giving it that super tasty straight off the bbq style flavour. And dare i mention the dips, phwoaar. Mint, chilly and garlic highly recommend getting all 3. Proper chill atmosphere and the owner is a geezer!

The food at Cookhouse is a million times more delicious and authentic than a certain famous chicken chain... Value for money is brilliant and the friendly staff make for the perfect atmosphere. My go-to joint when friends visit from outside London. Order the halloumi...and everything else!
