Cookfella's in Redcar and Cleveland

Fabulous as always. Cuban sandwich absolutely gorgeous. Apple crumble perfect. I've never had a less than perfect meal here. The service was excellent and the interior is so inviting and beautiful. I'm looking forward to treating my daughter to a nice meal next time she's home from university

Great tapas, reasonably priced. We sat in the bar area as we had a dog with us. A lot of the seating is bar stools (with backs) at high tables, which was not an issue for us but may be for some. It is definitely worth booking ahead as it got very busy, but this gave the place a great atmosphere. Good selection of lagers. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommended.

I had the pork cheeks in mustard with mash & veg. A beautifully balanced dish, I couldn't pick up the sherry, although it didn't need it. Partner had steak which was cooked perfectly with a shed load of new potatoes & homemade slaw. The bistro/wine bar had a nice vibe with lots of customers, some in for drinks but most in for food. The service is very friendly, food took a while to come out but it's very much worth the wait. We've been before & that was another impressive meal so we will definitely be back. The only issue we have is there about half a dozen dishes that caught our eye so return we shall.

Out to celebrate a family wedding anniversary with a party of 13. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely friendly staff, the food was amazing plus you could see the kitchen which is always a good sign . The fish broth was fantastic and I would recommend trying it , we will definitely go again next year when we go back

To all the people who rated this restaurant 3 stars and less, then you must be used to eating in the 10 most rated restaurants in the world. The food is always excellent, and the staff are usually second to none. Trip advisor rated no.1 in the area. Do what I do, take no notice of posted ratings, and try it for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Visited for my sisters anniversary. We were a party of 12 and one baby. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu is varied, we all had starters, mains and desserts. Service was excellent. The food was amazing. Highly recommended!

Always liked Cookfellas but hadn't been for a while. As usual, we ordered some small plates. The chicken wings were fine but everything else was below par. We used to get decent toasted sourdough with the prawn dishes, but these came without bread. I mentioned this when the member of staff asked if everything was okay. She said she'd bring us some bread but what we got was far inferior to what we were used to and we were charged extra for it. What were supposed to be millionaire's fries were merely frozen chips with a smattering of cheese. Neither of us could taste any truffle oil. We both liked the idea of the fritters, but what we were given were atrocious. Overcooked batter that didn't taste of anything other than overcooked batter. My partner asked three times for ice for her wine and eventually had to go and ask at the bar. No apology. It's a shame when standards fall like this.

Normally we would rate a visit to Cookfellas first class. However today it fell a little short. Our table had not been fully cleaned and prepared for us - there was salt on the table (it didn’t look as if it had been wiped) and a chip on the floor from the previous customers. We were missing napkins and some cutlery. But we all 4 enjoyed the main course which was delicious. However the dessert menu was a big disappointment- all our previous favourites had gone and there was nothing on it that any of us would have eaten. The waitress said the menu is changing on Monday so we can only assume that it hasn’t been generally popular.

Fabulous three course dinner! Flavours were spot on, presentation was perfect, and the staff were SO attentive.

We visited here for a family birthday meal. The surroundings and staff were lovely, however the food was distinctly average and overpriced. How a restaurant can justify a £9 starter for five king prawns and some sourdough is beyond me. Two starters of the autumnal salad starter were £7.50 with two small slivers of pumpkin and onion, a miniscule crumb of feta, a scattering of lentils and salad leaves. The main courses ranged from £16.95 to £20.50. As it was a family members birthday I didn't voice my disappointment, as I didn't want to embarrass them. We will not be returning or recommending this restaurant.

Lovely food nice friendly staff we went as family of 5 with kids had lovely meal you can see your food prepared in front of you in the kitchen if you where sitting where we where I will come back if I visit again town and I will recommend it to my friends and family

Great atmosphere and service. We advised venue in advance that my wife was allergic to chillies in any form. Waitress checked with chef in advance what dishes she could eat and presented my wife with a hand written menu. Main and specials menu very varied and different from the usual selection that you see in major chains. Well recommended.

We absolutely love this local restaurant and haven't had a bad meal. From setting foot into the establishment, we are always greeted by friendly bar staff who are polite and helpful. Our meals are always fresh and despite the fact I choose the same vegetable strudel, my husband always tries something new. Tonight, for our Anniversary meal, he chose something from the specials board, some type of chicken meal, I chose my usual. My rose was lovely and he enjoyed his red wine. Also would like to point out that the girls in the restaurant are attentive and nothing is ever too much trouble. We highly recommend this place and feel as though we're guaranteed to be impressed.

Fabulous! Gluten free and dairy free friendly, with multiple options. Very wide menu, lots of options for all tastes and very attentive service.

Came here for a date night and we were not disappointed. The food choice and quality was excellent. Would recommend the tasting lamb. Inchs cider on draft and good cocktails. Excellent service as always.

We enjoyed two meals at Cookfella's during our Guisborough stay. Service is cheery and relaxed, which sums up the overall atmosphere. The menu has good variety, and the food is excellent. We ate from the specials, though there were plenty of tempting items on the main menu. One main was chicken rolled in thin ham with hits of fresh sage on olive mash, the other hake cooked in spices that reminded me of a trip to Morocco – both excellent. On a visit last year, I remember a way over-the-top chocolate dessert. This year it had mint ice cream and tuille, which didn’t work for me. I’d suggest replacing the mint with salted caramel ice cream and honeycomb twist, or coffee ice cream with a sprinkling of coffee beans, or chocolate ice cream and roasted cocoa beans. This is a smart venue with smart cooking.

Our first visit to Cookfellas Westgate location and we were were wowed just like the first time when we visited their first restaurant in Bow Street many years ago. A very varied menu with many dishes you would not usually find . Each of 4 of us had one of the 4 seasonal mains - Tasting of Lamb, North Sea Cod , Pork Loin and Red Mullet. They were not accompanied by the usual potatoes or chips and veg but something different and complimentary e.g. my mullet was accompanied by a very fine chorizo & pimento paella and Gambas pil pil. All freshly cooked and washed down with a very good Pinot Grigio. ( starters were great too) Prices for this sort of quality are very reasonable . Service was also excellent. The best meal we have had in a long time. Cookfellas does Guisborough proud .

The food as always was lovely, the service was poor. Menu's plonked on the table as was the wine, and unbelievably the cutlery for our starters was also plonked on the empty space for us to help ourselves to. We had to ask for drinks, and felt very underwhelmed. That said we are hoping this was just a one off

3rd time I have eaten here, 1st time for lunch. Sat out in the sun in the courtyard, great Mexican food. Only gripe only one cider and that was bottled and a bit pricey. Service is always good evening menu is great. French chicken fantastic, parmo however is only average. Good food overall great for special occasions.

2 very helpful bar staff, we asked about bringing our dog inside, no problem at all. We had a couple of beer and booked a table for the following night. The bar area was very smartly decorated. We ere not disappointed, again helpful,and knowledgeable staff going the extra mile to assist and recommend food, we would recommend this restaurant as a must whilst in the area.

We visited Cookfellas on a Saturday evening just before the late spring bank holiday Monday, and were lucky enough to get a table (having enqured a fortnight earlier). We started in the Cocktail bar - where we could have quite easily stayed, and enjoyed tapas dishes! The cocktails were well made and excellently served. We also placed our restaurant food order in the ocktail bar, with the help of a very friendly and knowledgable waitress. Our previous visits to Cookfellas had been pre-covid. It was therefore good to see that the restaurant was pleasantly full, with a lively buzz of conversation. The quality of decor, food and service remain extremely high. We had a sharing "Mediterranean" starter ; I had a delicious "French" chicken and my wife had a superb red mullet dish which she really enjoyed. The choices of food and drink on the well presented menus are many, with dishes and wines from several continents. Other plus points - there is no piped music in the restaurant; no-one jumps in after 30 seconds to ask if everything is ok; we were not referred to as "guys"; the young bar and waiting staff are well trained and very polite and the chefs are amazing! This is a quality operation that deserves to survive current pressures, and flourish in the future.

Catered for a large birthday group. Service was fantastic, really friendly staff. Catered for all our needs, probably not the easiest as there were 23 of us! Couldn't fault it. Food was stunning with a fantastic selection to choose from. Will definitely be returning.

Tried the parmos yesterday taking advantage of the lunchtime special at Ccokfellas. Cooked quickly and well presented, they were tasty and not too greasy. Upgrade to skin on chunky chips was a tasty option. Excellent attentive service from the waitress. No complaints- would recommend

You need to book ahead to get into Cokfellas. No wonder! Owners have moved to new premises in the centre of Guisborough and have completed an excellent upgrade of the interior. Decor is great - so relaxing, and immediately impresses. Add to this the friendly welcome and hard working staff and the occasion just builds to the main event - high quality food! Amazing cuisine with innovative menus - overall it's just like being abroad for a few hours - and no fear of quarantine when you get home. New restaurant deserves to do well; thanks to all the staff front and back; we had a really enjoyable time.
