Been a few times. Food always nice. Service is a bit slow. But overall I'd recommend it . Could do with updating menu as it's been the same every time we've been over the last 2 years.

We always dine here when visiting friends. A wonderful place with high quality food. Service is excellent and the staff are very friendly.

Lovely midweek evening meal...Chilli Ribs followed by Guiness beef... well presented and table service was just right.

Excellent meal this lunchtime with family 🤩 we all absolutely loved our meals and puddings, I had the quesadilla with pork, just amazing 😍😍😍 I couldn’t manage it all so it got boxed up for me. Staff were amazing, atmosphere great, will definitely be back!

Seven of us went last night lovely selection of mains and starters and the desserts were delicious. Our waiters were friendly and helpful. We all had different meals and they were faultless and well presented totally recommend look forward to going again. Marie Steele

I've eaten here a few times over the years. the most recent being lunch today. It's fabulous food, really tasty and well presented. The Cuban sandwich and apple crumble were gorgeous. I've honestly never had a bad meal here. I also recommend their beef rendang.

Great menu, friendly attentive service

My husband and I were visiting the area, and decided to have dinner here after reading good reviews! The food was lovely, everything well cooked and presented well. The drink choices were great, (really like the chilled glasses for the beer), and the waitresses were so lovely and attentive. Would recommend to others!

I am here from the United States visiting family and friends in North Yorkshire. We went to Cookfellas for dinner last night and I can honestly say it was the best meal I’ve had during my stay here. Not only was the food outstanding but so was the service! Such a lovely place and a great atmosphere. I will definitely be back. Thank you for a memorable evening and lovely meal.

Honestly, we were really disappointed by this place after seeing how highly reviewed it was on here. We were out for a 60th birthday meal for my mum and the service was just staggeringly poor. We had noted on our reservation it was for a 60th, and there was only three of us so it’s not as if we were a difficult party to manage. The place was quiet and there were plenty of staff too. Whilst the staff aren’t unpleasant, it was just really poorly run. I spoke to the manager on duty to feedback and he was incredibly apologetic and offered a discount on our bill but even that got messed up. Aside from the poor service, the food just really was very average (none of us actually enjoyed our meals). The only reason I gave the extra star was because of how sincerely apologetic the manager seemed to be, and the attempt to remedy through vouchers on next visit. By this point however it was too little too late. A 60th birthday is once in a lifetime and we don’t live in the area, so I declined his offer. I can only assume, given the positive reviews, this was a one off. Edit after response: the hostile, inaccurate and excessively defensive response from the owner of this place says it all really. I avoided going into detail in my original review as it didn't seem necessary but after the owner has replied with several fabrications it is now necessary to highlight those: - There was no 'initial error' on our party. My 80 year old grandmother pointed to correct item and read it out. I distinctly remember as I was conscious I didn't want there to be any confusion. - We weren't offered anything free or nibbles. We were just asked 'can I do anything for you'. Of course we weren't going to ask for free food. Perhaps if it had been suggested we would have accepted. - I asked for a glass of water and I was asked if I wanted a half pint or pint, I said 'a pint no ice'. and was delivered a half pint with ice. Is this the error of the century? No. Is it sloppy service? When combined with everything else that went wrong, yes: - Asking for salt and pepper and being brought just pepper and a clearly empty salt shaker - being brought cold onion rings with my meal that when I said were cold just got chucked by in the frier and refried (then being really greasy). - Plates arriving with food spilt down the side. - Staff in dirty t-shirts. Yes, this is bad service. In isolation, it's whatever, however altogether it's just a mess. - If it's 'fun dining' price it accordingly and make it fun. We didn't expect fine dining but what we got was worse than I've had in a wetherspoons. - The food was bland and boring. Fish broth tasted off. Sorry, it's true! I tried to say it more diplomatically in my original review. I didn't tell your manager the food was great so that's a blatant fabrication. - The bill was £59 down from £72, and I paid £59 - not £32.90 (thus not equating a loss to you of £28) we got £13 off, so again another fabrication. Do you really need to make stuff up to defend your reviews? Honestly, shocking. - I returned because when we were left we were so shocked that the bill had been amended by your staff due to an error, adding £5 to the price (was originally £54 after discount). Given the poor service, we couldn't believe they would adjust the bill again after already giving us it over something so minor. - When I returned, I was pleasant, calm, mild mannered. We're a very non-confrontational family of THREE. I didn't 'point' at anyone. I just said please could I have a quiet word somewhere - as to not embarrass him in front of any other customers - I did this so your other customers wouldn't hear what a poor experience we'd had. I thought it was only fair to return and give him feedback - if it was my business I would want the feedback so I could learn how to improve. Your response is quite frankly cringeworthy and embarrassing. I'm sorry we ever visited and thanks for ruining a 60th birthday with such bitterness and scorn.

A really lovely place. Food was excellent, staff very polite and very helpful. Highly recommended. I will be going there again.

According to our receipt Lily was our waiter, she was brilliant. I had a chicken parmo and a Bakewell tart, both amazing and lush. I had multiple daiquiris (strawberry, passion fruit, mango, cherry)

Cookfellas to me is one of the best places in the area close to Marton and Nunthorpe to eat. The food looks appetising, the chef is bold in his menus and the staff are very pleasant. Quality of food is excellent, so don't expect it to be cheap, but because of the menu, it is very well priced. Haven't tried the Tapas and wine bar, but I would expect that to be excellent also. I can highly recommend the Hake wrapped in panccetta, the Pork Chop on the specials, Venison meatballs, garlic prawns and the Strawberry Bakewell. Not our 1st visit and will definitely keep returning.

Went here tonight to celebrate a family birthday. Food was fabulous. Absolutely loved the brisket and the rice was amazing. Great food, great service. Highly recommend.

Food is fresh and cooked to order! Have eaten here on many occasions but there were less veggie options last time we went which was a bit disappointing.

Cookfellas serves delicious food in a variety of settings: pub-style, restaurant and outdoor. And dog friendly too, which is a total winner.

Another fantastic meal. My son tried his first ever Parmo from the children's menu and he absolutely loved it! Fabulous service catering to my gluten intolerance. Excellent customer service once again!!

This was a deal calledA Taste of Redcar and Cleveland. £15 per head for 2 tapas dishes and a house drink. The menu given was specifically for this offer. I asked for a glass of red wine. Was given a choice of several. I asked for Rioja. What size? It then became clear this was a premium drink, not one from the offer. OK. The meal was OK but some of the ingredients described on the menu were not present e.g. pomegranate seeds in the salad, couldn't taste any garlic in the garlic mayonnaise, no lemon slice and the prawn dish hardly tasted of prawn. It was Friday lunch but only one other table was occupied so atmosphere was lacking. The bill - 4 people @ £15 = £60. Two sweets not in the deal came to £12 so the total should be £72. The bill arrived for £145! It was returned and came back as £62! We handed over £80 in cash (tip too generous?) and left the young man to sort the problem.

I don't often write reviews but Cookfella's forces an exception. The food is excellent, service spot on, all at a good price; £7 for a mojito for example. Separate restaurant at the back means the bar at the front keeps a bar atmosphere.

We went to eat this week, a group of 11 people on a business trip. The food, the atmosphere, and the staff were exceptional. Additionally, we were able to stay until past 10 in the evening.

Went here for a meal on Friday. Ordered 2 chicken parmo's, we waited around 10mins for the food to arrive . I don't have a big appetite so wasn't really bothered about the size of the meal , how ever when our food arrived the portions were smal more like a childs portion . Both chicken parmo"s were over cooked to the point of being burnt & they trued to hide the burnt breadcrumbs under the white sauce & cheese & sat in greece. . The waiter was informed but said nothing after we said they were burnt . . I couldn't eat my parmo as to burnt , the bread crumbs were charcoal in colour & both were heavy in grease, we paid just over £38 with a soft drink & tea included . I would be careful going here as food wasn't the best to say the least, but expensive when you leave hungry & my partner came back needing a sandwich . The dog had the chicken parmo's.

Gawjus place food OK had better meat a little dry

We found this little gem of a place a couple of weeks ago… the food and service is amazing. Always accomodating. a place where as a family we all have exquisite food in a relaxed atmosphere. As a vegetarian - the choice and flavours are amazing! I usually have to just make ‘do’ but not at Cookfellows. There’s even a Vegan menu. Had one of the best meals there last night. Thank you!

4 gals looking for dinner in Gizzy on a Friday evening. Stumbled upon Cookfellas. Sensational. Food was top notch. Fresh produce, well cooked, great presentation. Stand out dishes scallops, mezze sharing board, Greek feta. Desserts also fab. Staff v welcoming and nothing was made to feel like a bother. Will be back next time we are in Guisborough

So lovely!! We went two times and both times were so lovely, we got seated quickly the first time, but the second time they were fully booked and so they managed to slot us in later in the night. Absolutely worth the wait for another night of lovely service and food, will definitely be back :)

Went with my family for a birthday meal, the food was great and so was the service.

Great place to eat! Food was excellent, service was ace and the building itself it really well put together. We had the Mediterranean sharing board to start, we both had the Cauliflower katsu curry for the main course. For dessert, I had the Bakewell Tart (Wow!) and my wife had the Chocolate Brownie. It was all spot on.

This place was recommended on Trip Advisor as the number 1 place to eat in Guisborough. And it did not disappoint. To start, the service given by the staff was second to none; they could not do enough for us. Both myself - food pictured - and my partners starters and mains were unbelievable. Fresh cooked; it was obvious great pride was taken by the chefs in preparing these meals. I have to recommend the chicken parmo, it was divine. Up there with the best meals I’ve had in my life. If you are in the area, please do drop in to this fabulous bar and eatery. You will not be disappointed.

Had the chicken parmesan and the chicken was really dry....dirty chips were lovely though. We felt we were rushed out after our meal and then they said we could pay at the bar, but then 2 different members of staff came through to the bar pointing at us and then they came straight over to take the bill. Would have stayed longer for more drinks, but customer service not great, food not that nice and drastically over priced.

A wrap with seasoned chicken and fries. The wrap was cold inside the wrap bread warm. Chicken not seasoned, included salad was bland and very cold. It all seemed cold and wet. Could not eat much of this.. the fries separate were OK and hot. So overall I am disappointed, my experience does not match the other reviews, its odd.

Food was so good, we had the Cookfella and the Classic burgers, they both were fantastic, lovely relaxed atmosphere and great service. Well done guys. Revisiting in 2022, took advantage of the Teesside restaurant week deal which they are taking part in and boy they delivered, everything from the food, service and atmosphere was fantastic guys, it’s was blowing a gale outside but inside it was really warm and inviting absolutely loved our visit and well done to all the staff tonight because you were all amazing. (November 17th 2022 visit) we will be back!

Enjoyed a nice evening with friends and the meal and the service was excellent. But I cannot understand why the prices are so expensive. Instead of eating their once a month I think it will be four times a year.

A quality dining experience for those who appreciate quality. Fresh ingredients, well balanced flavours, excellent service. A rare find.

Had the mackerel starter. Was cooked to perfection. Came with slivers of fresh apple and a smoked mackerel rillette. However. The dessert was stand out amazing. Apple cheesecake with Brandy and toffee cream. Apple wafers were perfectly tart to offset the sweet caramel sauce. Excellent service from the two guys on the bar.

This used to be a family run, intimate, exceptional eatery. Vaping around my children, unchallenged, yet seen multiple times by staff and beyond stale cookies served for pudding. When I complained, the waitress simply offered that she would let the relevant people know. Children live by their puddings. Deeply disappointed by the whole experience.

A very lovely, stylish, comfortable place to have a drink and dine any night of the week (closed Monday). A very nice selection of wine, beer, cocktails. Food served in the bar as well as the restaurant at the back. Highly recommended.

Had a whole bunch of nibbles and all were awesome! The char grilled broccoli won first prize with croquettes coming in second. Great atmosphere and great staff. Definitely recommended!
