Comptoir Libanais in Oxford

A special review of the extremely friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. The restaurant is located in West gate in the center of Oxford. Delicious.

Food was tasty as far as it went, but portions way too small. For eg. a mixed grill for £19.95 contained 3 cubes of chicken, one quite thin skewer of kofte, four chicken wings & a tiny portion of rice (& some salad). The proportions were also louzy as there wasn't enough rice to even cover what little meat was there. I can see a fair few reviews complain about same thing & while restaurant says they will look into it, clearly they are determined to scrimp on ingredients. I certainly shan't be returning as I hate spending £20 per head (not including service) on a main and all but one of us feeling unsatiated afterwards. I think it's a minor disgrace when restaurants behave like this. Perhaps they think everyone is on a diet or something. We even told them when they asked how was our meal that it felt too small, but no reaction.

Came in with my husband yesterday and was served by a lovely young man named Raj. He made our dining experience one of the best we've ever had and his attention to detail was amazing. I will be coming back again and would recommend going to Raj if you visit.

Just had a wonderful dining experience at Comptoir Libanais Oxford! Very nice and friendly staff! One of the staffs (whose name was Mahek if I'm not mistaken) took the time to explain different menu items and ensured we had everything we needed. The warm and welcoming atmosphere was made even better, by her who provided exceptional service throughout our meal. She was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and had great recommendations for traditional Lebanese dishes. The food was fresh and flavorful. The authentic Lebanese cuisine combined with such personalized attention made for a memorable dining experience. Will definitely be returning, and hope to have Mahek as our server again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The staff were very friendly and welcoming but the food was distinctly average. Kofta and salmon both overcooked. The shared mezze is overpriced for what it is and a bit tasteless unfortunately.

Ordered rose mint tea for two. Received a pot for one and two glasses. But was charged for two. I gave my custom to the restaurant and was basically was a victim of petty theft in return.

First time coming here with my girl friend and the food was amazing. The staff are so friendly and take care of your needs. Mahek was a great! She always made sure we had everything we needed.

Reasonable enough, but portions are on the smaller side and prices felt steep (£14+ for a small rice bowl). Service was very good and the location in central Oxford is convenient.

Delicious food and beautlful atmosphere. Portions are generous and beautifully presented. Our waiter Simon was very kind, positive and polite. I will come back.

Wonderful food. Service was efficient but not intrusive

Perhaps the most cynical restaurant I have visited in the past five years; the decor is lovely - really bright and alluring - but the service and quality of food both exceptionally poor. Our drinks (the iced tea watery and weak) took over 30 minutes to arrive after a 20 minute wait to even order them. The meal an hour, with an item missed off but still charged for (with no acknowledgement or apology). We got mezze dishes and chose based on the pictures on the online menu, only to find that the actual dishes that came to us were half the size with ingredients stretched as thin as they could go; for instance, the halloumi and figs, pictured on the website as three whole figs, were some thin shreds of fig sprinkled over three thin slices of halloumi - for £9.45. We do not understand how halloumi, baba ghanoush and falafel took an hour to come out in a restaurant that was less than a third full. We have agreed never to return - it was a waste of time and money.

We made a reservation to eat here and when we arrived were told that, even though they had the reservation, they were not going to honor it because they had chosen to close. They seem to blame us for going on the website and making the reservation an hour earlier. Bad on substance, worse on style.

Relaxed, vibrant restaurant with excellent service. Food was great - especially the lentil soup.

The food is pretty good. However, the waitress gave us some olives, pickles and bread – things that are free in most Middle Eastern restaurants I know – and charged us obnoxious amounts of money for those, totalling around £15 for a tiny couvert. £4.50 just for a few pickles sounds like a joke, but it's what we were charged. Additionally, service was incredibly slow, our main dishes took almost an hour to arrive, even though the restaurant was almost empty.

Had a fantastic experience at our local Lebanese restaurant where our waiter was Rajul who looked after us in every way possible. He was attentive and very quick with our table bringing us nothing but incredible food. He deserves employee of the month!!!! Highly recommended place to enjoy delicious food with great atmosphere and service!

Comptoir Libanais in Oxford is a beautifully decorated restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. All the staff members were really attentive and friendly, but we were personally served by Anusha, who smiled throughout and made our visit even more enjoyable. It was our first time in Oxford, and as a fan of Lebanese cuisine, I can honestly say this was the best I’ve had in a long time. The Mezze Platter and Lamb Kofta Tagine were our absolute favorites. A fantastic dining experience overall!

First time visiting a Lebanese restaurant and I was very impressed by the food and the service. We had the Mezze platter followed by a mixed grill. Delicious food all round. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star and not 5 was I felt that the price was a little punchy for what you got. However, I would go back!

Food was ok, but a bit bland. The chicken and olive tajine tasted nothing like a tajine in Morocco. Staff was friendly. Colorful, cosy decor. Unfortunately, a 12,5% service charge was automatically added to our bill. You should leave it to the customer to add a tip or not!!

Solid 4. Not more, not less. I have seen tastier foods, and I have seen simpler places. There is no "wow" effect, but if you have no idea of what middle-eastern food looks and tastes like - it is a good start.

Avoid if you are looking for a nice tasty meal. Very bad service, we had to ask for the order few times, even the forks and plates. Over priced. Expensive more than the restaurant in the middle of London. The kebab was awful, the hummus tasted like tin hummus, falafel were very dry with no summak. The only nice food was the three cubes of grilled chicken. It doesn’t taste authentic at all.

I visited for lunch yesterday and was disappointed when compared to the one in Westfield London. The setup and atmosphere is very Lebanese but not the food, and when I called the manager to ask why there is no lamb cubes in the mixed grill platter (as it is supposed to be the main ingredient in the Lebanese barbecue) he said that this is not strictly Lebanese restaurant.. Is really not?! Also why do you have vermicelli rice in the plate??! Another issue is the “optional” service which nobody talks about but we had to dig deep in the bill to realise and ask to take off! The experience was not as expected and will definitely avoid this place so I don’t get embarrassed in front of guests from Lebanon!

I wouldn't recommend it for gluten intolerant/ celiacs. I asked about gluten free options before sitting and was told "we have many options". Eventually 99% of the manu was with gluten and I ended up getting a thin slice of meat with some raw vegetables, for which I paid 16 pounds. There are many other better restaurants in Oxford that respect their gluten-free costumers.

Visited for the first time and it was brilliant. The design was unique; all the fezes were a nice touch, and the food was brilliant. I opted to go for the grilled chicken, and it was superb.

The food and service were absolutely excellent. The waitstaff were friendly and recommended we add in the batata harra to our order, and we’re so glad we did! Delicious food. Loved the decor as well.

The food here was really nice. Service was disappointing. Had to wait a long time to order drinks and when they came the waiter ran off and we couldn’t order food until we decided to give up and use the table service app. Paid 12.50% service fee for both food and drink separately. Ended up paying an extra £10 just for being served food and drink when it was so difficult to order and took even longer to arrive. Food wait time doubled with no sign of anyone acknowledging our table. Won’t be coming back but I’d recommend if you’re looking for nice lebanais food with lots of time to spare.

Was wondering where to go for lunch. Decided to walk into this restaurant, still wondering what to have. The lady at the front was friendly, smiley and even helped me with the menu. I wanted something quick and light for lunch Wow super fast service, efficient, all with warm smiles. I saw groups of young people coming in but there was never a que, everyone sat down and got served quickly. Very efficient young team ,loved my lunch, thank you guys 😊

A tourists visiting Oxford we were not specifically looking for a Lebanese restaurant, we just stopped by to have something to eat and had a good time. The food (mezze platter) is surprisingly good - it tastes like lamb, meat, spice, mint ... like it should. The restaurant seems kid / family friendly - we love the interior design. The service is friendly and efficient. Many thanks to Anusha for being patient and caring with us

Today I visited this lovely restaurant with my friend where we had the most delightful meal, in the most incredible surroundings and by the most wonderful waiter, the whole restaurant is bright and airy clean and fresh and the food is incredible, I can’t believe I’ve not been Here in so many years, must be visited and I can’t wait to go back.

We came to the restaurant after a recommendation about the quality of the food, but we were surprised that the employee who received us was ill-mannered and rude at the reception, so we decided not to sit in it and went to another place.. The employee was (Indian) or of similar origins, and I do not know his nationality.

Sadly an inedible meal, ordered via Deliveroo. The quality of the food here has deteriorated over the last few years. Overpriced normally but this time will definitely be the last time. There are many better options in Oxford.

A nice place with Middle Eastern cuisine in the center of Oxford, reasonable prices, large portions, efficient and polite service. The interior has an oriental feel and is decorated with colorful bags.

It's good. We were at lunch so was bit flat inside but when it's really busy there is more atmosphere.

A lovely place to go for a more expensive place to eat. The salmon was delicious! I did find that the wait times were not great however on the whole it was a nice experience.

Perfect location to have lunch. Close to the city center! Anyone who is coming from the train station passes the place! Prime location, friendly staff! Only the male toilet wasn't working! Requires a Handwash for customers! Authentic kitchen with unique design! Mixed grill, green tea in a pot, and one kofta kebab was 45£.

I keep trying to give the place another chance, the decor is all it’s good for. The food is very normal and certainly would not pass as Lebanese. Importantly, I should have known that a Lebanese restaurant that doesn’t have Lebanese customers eating there- ever- is a terrible sign! I Ordered the kofta wrap, which wasn’t a wrap, (they call it open wrap- whoever came up with that genius idea- please send them to a real Lebanese restaurant for work experience) it’s not wrapped, it’s a flat bread in your plate, covered with loads of onions and a measly one skewer of mince lamb kebab on it! Portions are not generous at all- presentation was nice though. I did walk out feeling ripped off for the measly amount of food they give you. Has potential to be great- but the food is not on point at all in terms of taste.

Visited this restaurant with family for a lovely family lunch on a summer afternoon. Food has the best flavours and the drinks made us feel refreshed. Loved the total experience all together with a good supporting and smiling staff.

Good place for a reasonable meal - lots of space and choices at a good price. I went with a large group and they managed it well, though not all the dishes came at the same time. The mezze Monday is an excellent option for two!

Everything is OK. Just, a litle bit pricy if we adjust the price with the portion size (if you care about it).

You will leave with extra pounds, but you will no longer be hungry. This restaurant is excellent, very well decorated and the servers are very friendly. Discover their sauce dishes and everything else.
