Beirut in Oxford

Had such a wonderful time there with my fiance. Great food, great atmosphere and very friendly service. One of my most favourite restaurants.

The man person who answered the phone to.maje a reservation was just dismissive and rude. We were calling to.book.qjr aridy closing rom.as it was unclear on the website. Whilst the food is satisfactory (there are better midslw eastwrn choices in Oxford). What I find particularly per policing is that they are in the hospitality industry but have no clue about courteous customer service. Good food is only oj aspect of running a restaurant!

We walked in and found a table on a Friday evening, thanks to staff for arranging this. I ordered mixed grill cause wanted to try different meat dishes. The lamb kafta was tasty, well balanced with parsley and onion. Lamb shish was too salty and chewy, might have something to do with the marination or they added salt after it was cooked. Having it chewy made me think their selection of meat was wrong. Chicken shish was good, it was moist and soft inside and well-smoked outside. Grilled peppers and onions were nice to have. I wish they didn’t serve the dish with frozen chips. Felt like I was eating a fast food meal.

Great atmosphere, decor, food and service, and also good Lebanese wine. I’ve been here several times with my family and nothing is too much trouble- they were very accommodating with my food allergies and the food was fresh and delicious.

The place is very narrow, we ordered three different dishes and all three had nothing special. We have eaten at other better Lebanese places in Oxford.

Exceptional food, brilliant service, felt at home & will keep coming back to Beirut! If you live in Oxford or you’re visiting, Beirut is a must visit!!

Staff were so kind to our kids, food was excellent! Devoured dinner too quickly for photos but pictured is the delicious baklava dessert.

The mixed grill was fantastic, plentiful and really tasty. The only negative we have though is that the beers were very over priced at £5.50 for a 330ml bottle.

Had a great meal with a good friend yesterday. Got the mixed grill followed by a baklava with ice cream which was delicious. Only have one suggestion. Soft drinks are a little over priced but not a huge deal - perhaps the management could think about that.

This is one of my favourite eat out and takeout restaurants in Oxford. Their staff is supper polite and the atmosphere is so cozy. My favourite meal is the sea bass, I can’t get enough of it, my wife also loves it and I would have 2-3 takeout a week for our lunch at work. Amazing food full of flavour. One of the best places to eat in Oxford. Super friendly staff and *delicious* home cooked food which is always the highest standard. Over our 3 years in Headington we've become friends with the staff and they often give us freebies!! Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and also great for collection via Just Eat. A must try if you live in Headington.

Staff wasn’t welcoming, They don’t treat us same as other Ours experience with them was bad We left the Restaurant even before I ordered any food

Sadly it was disappointing. Small portion sizes for the prices they are charging - £6 for a hummus about 1/3 of the size of a supermarket pot which didn't even come with bread. £5 for a lemonade. Overall I wouldn't recommend it

I have been eating several times at the Beirut restaurant and every single time it was great experience! The food is to die for, delicious fresh and very tasty 🤩 the customer service is absolutely brilliant every time, friendly welcoming and polite. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, like I want to always go back there 🤩 Tonight Robin and Abude was serving us and we ate Kosa Bilaban which is my favourite, hummus, mutabal, sujuk, kibbeh ❤ and for dessert we had homemade qatayef which was absolutely delicious. Thank you for amazing food and service, definitely I recommend to everyone who loves to eat great food and fantastic atmosphere 👌

Great evening at Beirut Restaurant tonight! The atmosphere was really welcoming with beautiful, colourful decorations, flowers and traditional music in the background. From the entrance lovely Asfur was very attentive and friendly to us. After sharing information about trying Lebanese food for the first time, he suggested and described some dishes. We ordered absolute feast trying hummus, kibbeh, mutabal, sujuk, moussaka, main dish “kosa bilaban “ and for desert fried cheese dumpling with ice cream and pistachios “quatayef”. The food was delicious, authentic and fresh. Presented beautifully with garnish on colourful little plates, filling up whole table! My very favourite finger licking food was the main dish and hummus! The service was very friendly, helpful and attentive. I really recommend this place especially if you planing to try new cousin but also for anyone who likes delicious food in lovely surrounding! Thank you so much for having us. We definitely will be back!

This is the kind of place you’re looking for if you’re after somewhere that really represents everything gastronomically brilliant about the Middle East. Service and food excellent. The starters are really well portioned and seasoning perfect (we had the Lebanese pastries and the sujuk) . The meat is grilled to perfection. Local beers great too! Would recommend Almaza for a refreshing, ice cold & crisp pilsner. Will be back!

Visited on a sunny Saturday evening with friends who were visiting Oxford. Enjoyed a mix of hot and cold dishes at a table outside. The courgette is wonderful as is the homemade lemonade. Well worth a visit

Food is awful, especially if you are from the Middle East, or know what you are eating. I noticed that most 5 stars reviews are by people who probably didn't experience Lebanese food as it should be. On a positive note, servive is friendly with all smiles and the help. Also the atmosphere is brilliant! The decorations, music, seats, etc. took me back to beautiful Lebanon. Quite expensive though!

A lovely place for a Middle Eastern lunch. Beirut is a small, comfortable corner restaurant just down the road from The Manor Hospital which has made it our go-to place after follow-up appointments prior to an hours drive home. The food is freshly prepared, delicious and very authentic. Friendly service and always seems popular. It makes a chore into a treat!

Went for a meal about a month ago. Lovely food with great flavours. Loved it, however, I went there recently about 4pm and myself and a friend asked for a drink, it was a hot day. We were told very abruptly, that it was a restaurant serving food and not drinks only. I was shocked to be honest and it has put me off returning. How very short sighted! We would have probably had a couple each.

Excellent Father's Day meal. We hadn't booked, but Azad was happy to seat us. Food arrived quickly, service was excellent and the ambiance enjoyable. All of the meal choices for our family of five were well received, full of flavour and ample in size. We have eaten here before and had an equally enjoyable experience. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent food, great service. We always come here for a family dinner. Great portion sizes, good consistency. Family fav are mixed grills, chicken tawook, Lebneh yoghurt, fried Cauliflowers. Sujuk sausages. And you can’t beat the pudding if baklavas with iceream honey and crushed pitaschio! Thank you we will be back.

Simply atrocious. Our experience this evening is a far cry from the outstanding reviews this restaurant has received. A real shame. First the food was good but nothing special. As someone with cultural links, I have absolutely had better. Second, and most importantly, the service was a real let down. Far from hospitable and borderline rude. After being told there was no room inside (even though the restaurant was almost empty and was half full when we left) we sat outside. Yes, it was our choice but there was no offer to turn the heaters on, or even extend the awning when it started to rain. And when I confronted the staff about the above, their response was ‘we should have asked’. Well… if the host is unable to recognise when it’s cold outside and offer to turn the heater on or fully extend the awning, then they do not deserve my patronage. Summary: avoid if you can.

Staff were warm, welcoming and accommodating. We were informed the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes of our arrival so we had to hurry to order, but the staff were very kind and warm about it. Food was delicious!

We’re currently in JRH and far from home with our small baby. We get out once a day to get some food, we made a last minute decision to see if we could get a table… The gentleman who greeted us moves and tables around to squeeze halfway through our meal had to rush baby back to the hospital he had planned to come back and finish his meal however he had to stay on the ward. They happily packed up our order and gave us cutlery so Jack could eat his meal without missing out… The food was utterly incredible. We highly recommend the grilled prawns and home-made lemonade!!!

I went to this restaurant based on the five start reviews on google yesterday! And boy, I was disappointed! Despite the veneer of friendliness from the staff and the cleanliness of the establishment, adorned with nostalgic decorations reminiscent of Beirut, my expectations plummeted as soon as I sampled the fare. As someone deeply appreciative of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, my disappointment was palpable. We ordered a starter featuring hummus with meat, batata harra, falafel, and bread, hoping for a taste of home. Instead, we encountered a dismal display of culinary incompetence. The falafel, undercooked and devoid of flavor, resembled more a culinary mishap than a cherished staple. The batata harra was a sad sight – limp, oily, and evidently past its prime, with a chilly core that betrayed its lack of freshness. Even the flatbread seemed to have lost its soul, devoid of the homemade charm that distinguishes genuine Middle Eastern cuisine. The main dishes, including the musaqa and lamb (#38 on the menu, cannot recall the name of the dish), were no better. The musaqa bore a striking resemblance to undercooked tomato passata, with ingredients seemingly thrown in as an afterthought. Even my husband, typically an enthusiast for all things culinary, couldn't stomach more than a few spoonfuls. All in all a disappointing culinary experience, failed to deliver on its promise of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, offering instead a disheartening array of lackluster dishes at exorbitant prices (for what you get). Save your money and your palate by seeking out more genuine Middle Eastern fare elsewhere. I am still on a look out!

The Best Foods restaurant truly lives up to its name. The food is always fresh, and cooked to perfection. The service is exceptional, with friendly staff. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a tasty meal in a welcoming atmosphere.

Our big family group had a delicious Mothers' Day takeaway from here. Portions were generous with lots of vegetables. The falafels were the best I've had for years. There are plenty of vegetarian options, too. The staff were quite friendly and helpfully let us order in advance because our order was so large.

I am a solo female over 60 traveller. I arrived at the restaurant at about 6.30. There were many empty tables but l was told a table could not be found for me. When l insisted, a spot was found for me. There were still many many empty spots after l had finished my meal. Is this ageism?

A lovely, happy lunch in a warm welcoming family place. We had Lebanese bread, olives and a delicious hummus, which was complementary and very kind. Lamb kofta was just superb. Chicken Shawarma and the veggie mixed grill was perfect. A lovely Lebanese coffee to finish. Thank you.

The food was absolutely amazing!! Two nights in a row, we went with a larger group (1 people). We had several smaller dishes to share. Everyone was delighted with the exquisite taste of the food, and there was more than enough. The service and ambiance was also great (and so is the Libanese wine). The food is really well-priced. Need reservations for the best seat, but we visited, and fortunately, the seat was available 😀. The food was delicious and the staff was amazing. We ordered mixed grills, chicken tikka, kebab, lamb salad, rice, and one mixed grill with fries, with sides and the special bread with a houmous.

I visited here last night with a colleague. It was very full but the team went out of their way to make space for us. The food and service were excellent. Their coffee delicious. We felt completely looked after by the staff. One of the best restaurants I have visited in a while

First visit for most of us and none of us were disappointed. The service was just as you would want it, attentive but not overly fussy. The quality of the food was superb and plentiful - lamb shish kebab outstanding. Reasonably priced and wouldn't hesitate to return again - and again - and again!

We came for a team lunch (11 of us) on a Tuesday, and had such an excellent meal here! Thank you to the team for looking after us so well. Everything ran really smoothly (food arrived quickly, drink orders taken quickly) which is always a worry when you're the person organising work events. Everyone said how great the food was, and how it was perfect for a nice relaxed team lunch together. Thank you Beirut team!

Food was lovely, 4 of us shared 2 mains and 8 hot/cold mezze and salad dishes do we got a good taste of Lebanese cuisine. Staff were good and attentive. Our only gripe is, as with so many restaurants these days, is the automatic service charge included in the bill.
