Had an espresso at this place twice, both times could not drink it as sour. I guess milk and fancy foam disguise that but coffee seems low quality. Too bad, as staff is super nice and it looks like a lovely place to stop for coffee when waiting for a bus or meeting people. I considered alerting staff but they probably can't do much about it. I sincerely hope they change the brand. Or, if the brand is high quality and arabica, the way they prepare it as something is not right.

Had a great lunch - home cooked food fresh and full of flavours - my sister had a pumpkin frittata and gorgeous home made soup and I had a tasty ciabatta. Coffee was tasty too!! Staff were helpful and friendly and coffee shop was spotlessly clean Will definitely go back next time I’m in Lothian road. Reasonably priced.

I’ve been going here regularly for a while now and usually the food is pretty good and the portion size reasonable. However recently I noticed they decided to put the prices up, which is fine, but now you get a small plate of rice/pasta for the same as nearby places are doing a 2 course meal. That’s not an issue, prices go up, but why start serving your main meals on a plate the size of a saucer!! Is this just an attempt to make the portions look larger. This week we could hardly cut up the food up as the plate was so small! I realise the portions in Coletti aren’t the largest, but at least put it on a plate we can use!

Love this place. The focus is on the quality of recipes and ingredients. The salads are creative and wonderful. The sandwiches are generously filled. The dishes are lovely. Coffe is served with a glass of water (just like in Italy). I doubt if there is a better cafe in Edinburgh. I'd love to see the brand rolled out but suspect that it needs the owner's love of food and on site attention to detail to make it as good as it is.

Coletti is one of my top lunch spots and I usually struggle with too much choice, not too little. There are always a couple of substantial veg-packed salads, one veggie, one with meat; they have sandwiches galore, melts, tarts, posh pies, two daily soups and a hot food daily special. The food is top notch, though it is priced accordingly, so slightly more than your standard grab-and-go lunch. You get beautiful flavours and good quality ingredients for your money though.Today I saw a brie, cream cheese and beetroot tart, spicy salmon pie in filo pastry, Lamb tagine on rice hot food, chicken broth and spicy squash soup, mozzarella tomato focaccia, etc etc. The stuff is so nice I wish there was a bit more of it though.I am told that the coffee is good and the cakes are just to die for. Try looking at the sweet section and resisting! Again - lots of lovely punchy flavours, not just sugar overload, some gluten-free options there too. I don';t have a massive sweet tooth, but Coletti's millionaire shortbread would be part of my last meal! Or berry frangipane... Or the lemon polenta cake...The final thing that makes me return to Coletti's is the service. I would much rather leave my money at a much-loved, independent shop clearly run with passion and flare, than get my coffee at Costa and my salad at a supermarket.Highly recommended.

We had just landed in Edinburgh Airport and had the most uncomfortable flight ever. We were tired, disappointed and hungry. We found Coletti & Co through the recommendation of a staff member at our hotel who personally goes there for breakfast and lunch. The cafe was easy to find and was open early (9 am) on a Saturday. Inside, the place looked charming and clean. We had met the owner Lea who was so helpful and attentive. We decided to sample the brunch plate with the black pudding, the almond croissant, lemon coconut bar, tea and capuccino. The brunch plate was just big enough to share between 2 people if you are not very hungry but will also be very filling for 1 if you are truly famished. The star of this brunch was their black pudding... I have sampled black pudding in a few number of places around the UK but theirs in my humble opinion is truly the best. It was smooth in texture and very flavorful. Another thing that stands out is the service... It was evident that Lea, the owner genuinely loves what she does and it shows in the way she relates to her customers and in the food they serve. The locals also show their appreciation for this place as we were not even 10 minutes into the cafe when a number of people started to form a cue and they waited patiently as Lea, who was alone at the time took care of each person's order. When in Edinburgh and you need a pick-me-up, drop by at Coletti & Co and let the good food and good service there turn your morning around.

When it came to ordering she was very helpful as I didn't quite know how much to order. We both decided to order Chicken BLT baguettes which come with a choice of coleslaw or potato salad. As advised the baguettes were a decent sized and bulked out with a side salad and coleslaw. It was a nice hearty lunch which really hit the spot.We then opted to try one of the homemade cakes. The Lemon Polenta loaf was amazing, so light and moist I could've eaten the whole thing. My friend also enjoyed the Coconut slice.I would definitely pop back in here again for an affordable lunch, the service was great and food even better.

Just visiting Edinburgh for the day, and after the drive in, we were ready for coffee. We found this place and decided to give it a go and were not let down. The coffee is lovely: a nice rich roast and made by people who know how to do coffee (my regular order is a macchiato, so it's all about how the coffee is done!). Service was prompt and friendly and we were even brought glasses of water without asking for it. The cakes were absolutely delightful (pistachio and cardamom cake was my favourite, although the brownie and orange polenta cake were also delicious). The atmosphere is good and the prices are reasonable. (I also accidentally left my phone behind here and they kept it safe for me and had it there when I retraced my steps and came in asking for it!). Great personal service: we had a good chat over our coffee and really enjoyed are stop in.

This is a nice place. It's different from the sandwich shops on either side because it offers higher quality and fresher food, albeit with fewer choices and slightly more expensive. I would have preferred more food for the price. In saying that if you want more choice and bigger portions but without the same quality then go to the average sandwich shops nearby.

Melt in the mouth pastry with a tangy hint of Parmesan and possibly a pinch of cayenne, creamy, wobbly filling with stuffed with feta and peppers - mmm, mmm! As for brunch, top quality bacon and the silkiest, creamiest scrambled eggs ever, not to mention grilled tomatoes with a sprinkling of thyme and sourdough toast and butter make it one of the tastiest breakfasts you'll ever eat.I would love to review their chocolate brownie - sadly, they keep selling out which I guess speaks for itself!

I discovered this Cafe during our Saturday walk. Its a beautiful cafe with great coffee and the cakes are delicious. I haven't eaten anything other than cake but I do intend to. Its now become our regular stop on a Saturday afternoon and I have recommended it to all of my friends.I have noticed a few things that I feel are really important and it seems to happen a regular occurrence in this cafe. I have noticed that customers aren't engaged as soon as they walk in the door - one day I saw at least 3 sets of customer walk out because they weren't greeted when they walked in. Tables left uncleaned for longer than they should. Its a beautiful cafe but I feel that sometimes it can be untidy and that lets it down. This staff although friendly seem to be going through the motions and a little uninterested, hence why I think the above happens. I do love this place and I will continue to go, but I feel that there will be customers who won't find out how lovely it is because of first impressions, and that's a shame.

What a welcome arrival this was. Coletti and Co is very handy for the shops on Princes Street and George Street and also many Festival venues. We stepped in out of the howling wind an rain to a bright and beautiful sanctuary whose clean lines are relieved by Mediterranean-style floor tiles and glorious original coving around the ceiling. The offerings of brunchy/light lunch dishes, sandwiches and sumptuous-looking cakes were all tempting but we were both in the mood for scrambled eggs and bacon (smoked salmon was an option). Both of us are fuss-pots about our eggs and have to have really crispy bacon, so plenty of room for disaster here...But what came out of the kitchen was a plate of food that rasied the ordinary to extraordinary. Bacon crisped to perfection, and the herbed and fluffy eggs (served on toasted sourdough) were the best I've ever had outside my own house! I forced myself to eat more slowly, so as to savour each mouthful properly. Top notch coffee, quick and very friendly service, and a snip at just under £16 for two. No room for cake, but we'll be back!! PS I like a good loo, and this one is roomy, very clean and obviously well serviced throughout the day.
