A great food restaurant, however its main problem is the size and long waiting lines. The inner atmosphere is usual. The food is of a great and authentic taste, the portion is fair.

Don’t let the queue put you off. There’s a line for a reason. Great food, a nice family atmosphere and the best service in London. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you are happy. Ahmed was very friendly and even gave some bread to keep the kids in line happy. The bread, Gormah Sabzi and Koobideh were fresh and delicious. Would come back again and again.

The food and service were average. The staff were rude. I had reached the door at 6pm, and asked to queue up and wait my turn to sit. There was this very fat bearded man who insisted that I was not in the queue and kept asking people behind me if I was before them or not… only when they confirmed, that he believed me. It was humiliating to be made to feel that way, when you are giving them business. Very clearly they only favour Arabs, being Iranian. Go there if you want to feel humiliated by standing in the queue, waiting as though you are getting a free meal and at the mercy of rude, unprofessional staff. Disgusting

No reservations but worth the wait if you have to queue. The food and the service (especially the "big guy") are very good. No alcohol licence but you can bring your own in with you. Excellent choice of starters and mains. The Kashk- e-Bademjan aubergine dish is a great starter as is the rocket salad and lamb samosas. Very good grilled meats, particularly the lamb chops and baby chicken.

Service was terrible. The staff dropped the drink on our clothes and just told us to go to the toilet and clean. The bill when received they would not give us - they told us if you want a copy of the bill - they will have to make another one. The restaurant did not have the decency to apologise and offer to pay for dry-cleaning or compensate in any way. We kept our cool and left. The dry-cleaning of four items will cost at least £ 20. The drink that was dropped by the staff - we had to ask twice - will you bring a replacement.

This was a revelation for me. We were served by Sani and she did an awesome job while making it look effortlessly. We got appetizers, soup and a main dish. I tried all the things on the table and unfortunately that left me with no room for the deserts. This can easily be a downside for them, the food is so good you just have to have it all leaving you with little to no space for anything else. Another downside is that my wife missed this trip and I had to explain her the tastefulness of the food, the rich flavours. Same as I am trying to explain for all you here. This will be one of my best food experiences, along with the Mediterranean food.

Colbeh As a Rare Hidden Gem appreciates in value day by day, so is this Rare Gem among the world of Culinary Delights, called Colbeh , is hidden away in one corner of London, at 6 Porchester Pl, St George's Fields, London W2 2BS. It has been our favourite with my family and friends, and the food at Colbeh is outstanding, and distinctively unique and superb in taste, especially the Khobideh (minced lamb Kebabs and minced chicken kebabs), among so many others just melt in the mouth. When it comes to Persian Cuisine, Colbeh is the first Restaurant that comes to the mind, as my belief is when the taste buds get happy, they automatically trigger the heart and mind to follow suit. The service is 2nd to none, and although the waiting time is quite long sometimes, it’s almost forgotten by the frequent visits by the owners themselves, Mrs.Arta Gazeranchi, and her son, Ali Gazeranchi, who always ensure that we are happy and satisfied with the taste and to enquire if we need anything special taste wise. Arta and Ali ensured that we are served excellently well, and kept Mr. Farshad to take care of us at our table on our recent visit. Farshad pampered us with his superb services, which in my opinion is 2nd to none! I wish the Owners, Management, Executive Officers, and Staff of Colbeh continued progress, to attain the peak of success in all their endeavours, and would request them to kindly convey my comments, and feedback to the staff concerned, as well. As this will not only make ushappy but, it will surely motivate them to strive for their best all the time. Thanks. Ash-Cash

I really don’t understand the negative reviews. Been coming here for 15 years and the food is always consistently delicious. Yes they add a 12.5% service charge, but so do most restaurants in London. Prices are more than justified for the quality and taste of the food. Service is always friendly and efficient. Favorites are the Jujeh kebab and naan, which they make in the front of the restaurant. Only complaint I have is that I do wish they would take reservations - there is always a wait at lunch and dinner, sometimes as long as 90 minutes. Please do plan accordingly, but the food is worth it.

We have eaten here on 2 previous occasions and loved the food and service was warm and welcoming. However on this occasion my wife and I were victims of the obvious racism that is demonstrated towards white people from the management of this establishment. We waited patiently outside on a cold February evening for 30 minutes after being promised a table as soon as one became free and we would be next. As soon as a group of males turned up who obviously fitted the profile arrived they were whisk to the front of the queue, they must have waited a minute no more. When challenged the staff had no tangible response and their guilt was obvious. Such a shame that a place we’ve enjoyed previously could behave in such a way in 2022.

Tucked away from the edgware road hustle & bustle you will find this little gem of a restaurant.Established in 2001, Colbeh is (I’m being completely honest) the best Persian cuisine i have EVER had. The usual same old mixed grill in lots of restaurants are ok, other dishes good too. But they all tend to have a star dish or chef special.Well at Colbeh every single dish was a star dish. From the starters to the dessert, i was blown away. The meat was so juicy, tender & seasoned to perfection.I tend to point out what my favourite dish was when reviewing restaurants. But there is no way i can single out any particular dish as they all we’re amazingly delicious. The staff are the sweetest, kindest & most friendliest people are have had the pleasure in meeting. Despite the restaurant being a bit small they are very accommodating, there is some outside seating too. They are really goodwith food allergies Or specific dietary requirements. Also they do not serve alcohol which as a Muslim eating in a Halal restaurant is another plus point. The atmosphere & ambience was cosy. Beautifully displayed framed persian art work & the wonderful aroma of fresh bread being baked in the tandoor/oven by the entrance, I forgot for a moment i was in London. I highly recommend you to try Persian food at least once in your life. But you must do it the right way & come here for extraordinary traditional dishes made using recipes from Persia that have been passed down from past generations.

Recent ordered Ash and a mixed platter of kebabs from Colbeh. It’s a good option for takeaway albeit the price point seemed high for the amount of food we got. The reason I have not awarded 4 stars is simply on taste factor. All the food was lacking punch and unbelievably we had to add salt to our cello kebabs and rice for the first time in memory.

Have been visiting for years. The fresh bread is always a highlight, it’s unmissable as are the couple of starters we usually get e.g Mirza ghasemi. Really good. The mains are a bit of a different story. The kebabs I.e chelo kebab, minced chicken kebab are fine. Nothing remarkable in the flavour and don’t taste particularly fresh, but ok. What’s most disappointing is the size of them...I think they have been shrinking over the years. You get 2 incredibly skinny and miserly pieces of meat to go with a mountain of the rice...it’s simply too little value on the plate for what you pay. It smacks of shameless profiteering and its offputting. For that reason I have stopped visiting and will stick to other reputable Persians e.g. Hana in Hampstead which maintains v high standards. Also the vibe in there during our most recent visit was a bit awkward and uncomfortable. We arrived for an early dinner around 5pm...only 2 or 3 other customers. The big table at the back end of the restaurant had 6 or 7 staff sitting there, kept looking over at us, but not giving a smile or anything, just kind of staring.

Absolutely the rudest people and worst service I have come across in London. So much for Persian hospitality, I was told at the end of our meal on Saturday 16th February, "if you have finished, can you leave as we have people waiting". The restaurant was not that busy, it was 9pm. That was after being served our starters, and along came the mains after 5 minutes, which then got cold because this dinner was meant to be a relaxing and sociable meal, which is often the case when we meet up with friends! When I mentioned politely, that wasn't the nicest of comments to make to paying customers, the head waiter started shouting back at me! I left, and commented, the fact he was shouting back, was enough to know what an awful low standard place this is. Goodness - I have eaten here before, not always the best standards, but passable. However now, never again.

The kebabs are the best - juicy, tasty and smell like heaven; the naan is baked there at the tandoor and it is super soft when hot and crispy when cool, the khoresht ghaimeh is the best i’ve tried in London, and I love their sabzi salad. The service is always good, people are friendly even though they are very busy and will always find a way to accommodate you. In addition the prices are good especially for the big ize portions. The only thing i don’t love is that they serve their tea in small glass cups and not in a pot.

The starter khaske badamjan which is made of aubergines opens up different flavours on ones palette. If you live in the W2 vicinity it's a good restaurant to visit regularly as it's not heavy on the pocket as well.

If you love Iranian food then this is the place to go. Go for the kubiedah with rice. That was my order twice in a week. I always visit the place when in london. Do not expect a fancy place. It is really simple and basic with no special atmosphere. I go there simply for the food and the service really improved compared to few years back. Well done.

It is a must to visit Colbeh at least once whenever we are in town. The quality of food has consistently been very good and the portions are really generous. There is usually a wait for dinner which is worth its while. Highly recommended.

Fresh food, delicate flavours, unique cuisine. Traditional ice cream a must try. No nonsense atmosphere, small tight space. Since I am a vegetarian, the choice was limited, but glad I tried it.

I often measure a good middle eastern restaurant by the quality of their bread. So by my standards, Colbeh is ok, not awesome, but ok. The chicken kebab is very nice, and tastes like it does in Iran.I found it funny that despite being willing to serve food during daylight hours during ramadan, they wouldn't allow me to drink my own wine (they don't serve alcohol) --out of respect for ramadan. So they will respect ramadan provided it doesn't impact the bottom line... riiiight.

On a recent working trip to London, I was taken to the Colbeh for lunch by someone that recommended this restaurant. having never tasted Persian Cuisine I did however have a knowledge of some of the dishes having spent sometime in the middle east, the Kashk-E-Bademjan & Hummus starter with bread fresh out of the oven was tasty.Joojeh Kabab I thought was excellent served with salad and rice.the service was good, the atmosphere was pleasant and the place was spotless. The prices were very reasonable, they do not serve alcohol which never really bothered me as it was during the day, I do believe however that in the evening you can take a bottle of wine, overall I would pay this place a visit again.

Went here coz a friend highly recommended the place. Just before going there read a bad review on T Adv but nevertheless decided to go given my penchant for food.To begin with except for the youngest waiter here , the rest of the staff sling with the owner carried a very sad n serious look as if someone had forced them to run the joint .BUT to be fair, I think the food that I had was outstanding. I ordered the lamb kebabs with rice n ordered the naan/bread which is freshly prepared by the owner himself. The rice n the hot n fresh bread served were as outstanding as the kebabs. Its not a place for vegetarians though, since they offer only one veg dish!!! i.e aubergine curry without the meat. Overall, how do non-cheerful faces matter over good food . Must visit for those who like this cuisine.

This was my first (and last) visit to Colbeh. I would never go to an Iranian restaurant in London with high expectations as I know Iranians do not do service or restaurants particularly well. There are a very few exceptions but on the whole I challenge anyone to prove me wrong. The first thing which caught my attention was the unusually long menu which had a number of non Iranian dishes listed. Nestled amongst the usual fare were biryanis, a 'kofte' kebab and spiced, minced chicken kebabs the latter of which were their take of a regional dish. Then there was the large number of staff who were quite content to stand around collectively having a good old chat. These were not experienced or professional servers and the impression I got was that this job was beneath them.So the scene set, we ordered. I had the Chelo Kebab Makhsous which is a combination of a Koubideh (minced lamb kebab) and Barg (loosely translated as 'Leaf' - this is a flattened lamb fillet) these meats are traditionally grilled over charcoal and served with saffron steamed basmati rice. The rice is supposed to be light and fluffy but this was dry and had a bite to it. It is very common, understood and accepted to ask for a raw egg yolk to mix in to the rice. When I asked for one the waiter laughed it off dismissively saying they don't have eggs! The kebabs were overcooked and dry. The 'grilled tomato' was cold and the shredded red cabbage garnish in lieu of salad absolutely pointless. This brings me onto the side dishes. First up was the Mirza Ghassemi - a soft, whipped egg dish blended with tomatoes, garlic and spices. This was devoid of flavour and tasted like a passata sauce. Not at all good. The Kashk e Badenjoon is supposed to be grilled Aubergine, Garlic, Herbs and Spices and then topped with Kashk (semi fermented yoghurt) but again this was a let down. The bread was served uncut but otherwise passable. Not once were we asked if everything was to our satisfaction. The waiting staff were more concerned with their loud conversation. This is a predominantly Arab area (2 mins from the Edgware Road) whom probably keep this restaurant in business. If you know about Iranian food (and if you don't but are curious to try this otherwise normally delicious cuisine) you'll be much better off going to somewhere like Hafez on Hereford Road W2.Overall a real disappointment and I would be inclined to give careful consideration before going here. I have dined at this restaurant several times but today's experience left me shocked and utterly confused too. This restaurant boasts '5 star for hygiene' and it makes me wonder how could they achieve it when the food I ordered contained hair and the meat so stale. I have never had this kind of bitter experience at any restaurant. If you still want to dine at the Colbeh, please make sure you have medical insurance coverage.

Recommend by a friend as a good Persian Restaurant therefore we went. If you are looking for high end with great decor and ambience then this is definitely not your restaurant. This place has authentic food and most importantly fresh. We ordered humus and olivieh salad both good. Our main course was Jejo on the bone it was succulent and good followed by Chelo Kebab Kobideh which was really good.Place highly recommend for good wholesome meal.

Colbeh is longer the cosy, charming and amazing Persian restaurant it used to be. What a pity. The place totally lost its character except for the tanour (oven) at the entrance which still reminds me of the old Colbeh. Besides, the lightening is horrible, the tables are so close to each other that you don't feel like being in a restaurant but more in a cafeteria. The above would not have been a problem if it had kept its high cuisine quality. But again, unfortunately, Colbeh has also lost the magic touch for which I used to come and enjoy the gheymeh bademjan, the ghormeh sabzi or the amazing soltani. I really hope that one day the old Colbeh will resurrect (Inshallah as we say).

Cold weather and really hungry; go to Colbeh, they have the best Kebab with rice or with flat bread which served directly from the oven. We have tried their Mix mazza as a started, it was good, but not all of them, three of started which was a part of the mazza was not delicious. Therefore, I would recommend that you should select your mazza by plate, don't order the mix mazza. The Hummus, Labneh, and yogurt with cucumber are great. Try the "Joja Kebab" and the "Lamp chops" it was so delicious. the food was a lot, one plate of kebab can be shared by two person. There was no space for dessert, so we left with a bill of 55 pound for 1 mix mazza as starter with two Main dish and 3 soft drinks. The food was great and I shall visit this resturant in my second visit to London next time.

The food was good however the hummus was bland and the portions were very little for the prices. We went here because the Iranian around the corner we wanted to go to was packed. The food is tasty but it seems to be lacking something. The prices are a little too high as there is better round the corner for half the price. The staff were lovely ! I'm not sure if I'd come back again.

I have been going to this place for years and I love it! I find Iranian cuisine a lot more flavoursome and nuanced than Lebanese. Every time I rave about this restaurant to my friends they suggest other Iranian or Lebanese place that is equally good. But not place come close , perhaps Hana in West Hampstead is as close as it gets. Food at Colbeh is divine and cheap. Service , I accept , is patchy and can be improved. I used to hate service but still go to this place for food. Over the years , they know me so I get good service. I can't complain anymore. You go to this place for great food. Just don't expect great service , if you get good service consider yourself lucky.

Great food and a great way to end the day of touring. Friendly atmosphere and they put out a buffet for us.

Takeaway with a few tables. Mains are 10 with or without rice (less curry if getting rice). Dal (thick chana/chickpeas) was 7. Steamed basmati was 3.5 and PERFECTLY cooked. Nan homemade but not in a tandoor so lower temp meant a little stodgy. Tasty food (tikka masala / lamb and aubergines / dal / nan / rice /no drinks (a no for tap water)).
