Cognito on the Corner in Aberdeen City

Nipped down to get some breakfast/brunch rolls to takeaway. Shocked beyond words when I got home to find the roll and sausage had split sausages with only 3 pieces! For the price I’d expect to get at least 2 full sausages……..very poor and won’t be back.

I visited here with my friend mid-week and was excited to try, as it has been on my list for a long time. The venue is very tastefully decorated and has a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly, nothing really much to comment on there. The food was average; I feel the prices are not necessarily overpriced but on the higher side, just something to be mindful of. I had the burger, which for the price, would have been nice if it was home made. I paid extra to upgrade to truffle and parmesan chips, and there really wasn't any parmesan to be seen. We both opted for the sundae for dessert and it was quite a let down. It really was just a large scoop of ice-cream with a small drizzle of sauce and some pears. I expected, again for the price, some really spectacular looking sundae with all the toppings. Would I rush back? Based on the food on this occasion, no. That said, I think it's a lovely looking venue with great potential.

Now Milton on the Corner. I had such a lovely experience here. First time visit and definitely won’t be the last. Service, food, plating, ambience, drinks, location; 10/10. It was reasonably busy over lunch but we weren’t kept waiting for our food; and were constantly being checked on to see if we needed anything else. Already booked in for another visit. Extra points for the Instagram worthy entrance!!!!

First time visiting today for a bit of late lunch. 3 of us enjoyed delicious dishes - great choices and amazing fresh taste, chef did a great job. The cocktails are to die for! Would highly recommend the Bellini & cosmopolitan. The atmosphere itself is great, the vibe of the restaurant is moody yet welcoming. Definitely a great location & worth travelling for. Will definitely be visiting again! 🫶

Gave it a second go and absolute same story told. Pretty place, fab cocktails, gorgeous glassware, decent food YET the worst unwelcoming service anywhere I’ve been in Aberdeen. Pretentious. Hey why should I make you a cocktail or inquire if you’d like one attitude from bartender. Lose the attitude. Welcome your guests. It’s not hard to be courteous.

4 happy diners-service was fantastic food delicious

Had the steak which was lovey. The peppercorn sauce had a fair kick to it, unfortunately gave me savage heart burn for the rest of the day. My partner had the fish, which for the price would have been bigger.

Very over priced . Unattentive staff in evening . Unprofessional management. Poor food portion. Cold atmosphere.

Fabulous night here at Milton on the Corner on 2 November at a whisky tasting paired with wonderful food. The food quality and service was amazing!

Had dinner there tonight, was not impressed, £5 for olives and feta cheese for starter, really ??? £18 for fish and chips, left half of it, chips obviously cooked from frozen, fish did not have much taste, have had a better bar supper, i think its very overpriced and i don't think they should call thereselves a restaurant, they do not have restaurant standards.

Fab Sunday lunch, proper pink roast sirloin of beef. Great service and lovely vibe about the place. Super wee surprise birthday treat presented to our guest too First visit but won't be the last!!

First visit with my 90yr old mum today. Love the layout. Service was excellent and staff were very attentive. Menu quite varied and a few veggie options. My mum loved the Cullen skunk and the the Brie platter was quite nice although I would suggest it would be better with a cheese selection instead of brie. My only issue is that it became so busy that the noise was distracting. We were seated below a speaker which was playing 'background music', this didn't help! This is not necessary when it is busy as it just encourages patrons to speak louder. It does nothing for the atmosphere. Will visit again but maybe when it's less busy.

Came for lunch on our first day in Aberdeen. The food was delicious. Drinks were also tasty. We were served in a timely fashion. The staff are helpful and welcoming. Decorated to a high standard.

Very nice decorated place, good for a nice drink. The food however needs to be improved if they wanna be considered a restaurant. The chips seemed to be cooked from frozen, very blunt and boring, same for the fish. When paying ~£18 for a main you expect it to be better that what you can make in your oven just by throwing frozen stuff in it.

My wife and I were fortunate to book a table at short notice on a Saturday night. This may have meant that I was already in a positive frame of mind before arriving, but we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and are already planning a return visit with friends. Staff were excellent. The Cullen Skink was one of the best I have had in a long time. Mains were lovely and my wife's choice of crème brûlée for dessert was excellent.

Went for Sunday roast and it was great. Very happy with the food and service.

Had a delicious meal on Sunday. My husband had chicken burger and French fries. I had the bean and roasted vegetable loaf (vegetarian roast) with roasted potatoes, carrots, mashed swede, kale, tenderstem broccoli, green beans, Yorkshire pudding and red wine gravy. Oh my it was absolutely delicious. At last a place that does a vegetarian roast. We shared crème brûlée with blueberry sloe gin compote, it was very tasty. I had two cocktails, a French martini and a cosmopolitan, they were very good cocktails. This was our very first time at Milton on the Corner. It was amazing. It’s a beautiful restaurant. We will be back it was delicious. Drinks were served in beautiful crystal glasses. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.

This venue has all the makings for an excellent dining experience. It has a fantastic interior is well designed but time and time again it is let down by the mediocre quality of the food that is presented. Had lunch there this week. The haddock gougons and chips were mediocre, the peas were dry and tasted bland. The goujons had more batter than fish. My friends falafel salad was not amazing. The falafels were dry. Dessert on the other hand was lovely, the crème brûlée was delicious but was let down by a stale piece of shortbread. Disappointing as there is huge potential to make this restaurant really special. Please keep trying!

First day dirty utensils, this time stained tea mugs but the biggest today’s disappointment was pork medallions which was impossible to cut through. I was starving and even then I couldn’t finish my meal. Rest of it was well cooked. I don’t think that we will come back again.

Brilliant meal and evening at Milton on the Corner. Jay and his team do an incredible job of looking after everyone and the food, drink and value for money is second to none. A must for anyone who wants to have a first class meal in a first class atmosphere just a short walk from the city centre. We will be back! Many times!

Went for breakfast and was there w big company. Think that 25 mins for sausage rolls were quite a lot mb kitchen just opened n needed to heat up. My friends didn't like royal breakfast w salmon. Atmosphere is amazing. Very strong coffee. Enjoyed

My daughter and I enjoyed our brunch on Mothers Day followed by a couple of cocktails. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Staff were wonderful and professional, and the decor and ambience were great. Didn't enjoy my burger as it was a bit dry, but everyone else's food looked great, and they agreed it was super tasty. Will definitely be back 😁

Have to say after picking this restaurant after a previous good experience I would and won’t be eating here again ,the food was poor the service absolutely horrendous ignored us when we were looking to order more drinks ,the took my cake to the wrong table ,never offered us a dessert and when we asked if they would book us a taxi into town the told us to do it ourselves don’t eat here plenty better places in Aberdeen to pick and spend your money

We have often eaten at Milton on the Corner and been very satisfied, until today! It was a Mother’s Day menu and the restaurant was busy as can be expected. Set Mother’s Day menu. My wife ordered the beef dish. Starters were good then a long wait for the main course. Even with a steak knife it was virtually impossible to cut through the beef it was so tough. We mentioned to staff and apologies were given and told we were not the only customers to comment on the beef. The whole meal was replaced with same choice and this time beef was better but still a bit chewy. By the time this was done I had finished my course so my wife ate hers alone! Desserts were good. We were given, without asking, a small discount on the bill. Overall a disappointing visit as we have always been satisfied at previous visits.

Had a Sunday lunch party and the service was very good and the food even better. There were 11 of us and we were all served lovely dishes and the quality and quantity was very good. We will return Now known as Milton on the corner

Dit restaurant heeft tegenwoordig Milton at the Corner. Het is een mooie plek en het eten is erg goed. Ze hebben mooie selectie gins and tonic. Als voorgerecht namen we een lokale soep, Skink. Dit was een aardappel, prei vissoep erg lekker van smaak. Het hoofdgerecht was hert, dat eveneens erg goed smaakte, en mooi was opgediend met puree, wortel, kool, pastinaak en kroketjes. En na natuurlijk sticky toffee pudding met espresso. Erbij namen we een primitivo wijn die goed was. De porties zijn groot. Het personeel was erg aardig en behulpzaam bij het maken van de keuzes. De kaart is niet heel uitgebreid maar alles wat er op staat klinkt goed. Zeker een aanrader als je in de buurt bent.

Really excited to go to this restaurant but didn't live up to the hype

Unfortunately, had the worst steak sandwich. Stone cold and tough. Friends chicken sandwiches were okay. To top it off rushed off table. Nice decor but cold. Local but won’t be back.

The pigs on blankets nibbles were over cooked & had a v strange taste. We had booked a table for a family meal & were provided with e menus to make ordering easier. But when we arrived the menus we were given were different to the ones that had been emailed? The Food was ok but wouldn't rave about it. Service was attentive & friendly. Atmosphere was ok. we were in the back area which was nice & secluded but tad chilly. Can't say we would return

Our first visit, popped in for a quick snack. Had goat cheese sandwich and it was very good and different. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and I would love to go back again. Definitely recommend a visit.

Was at the Milton a couple of weeks ago for my sister in laws birthday. Had a great night. Food, drinks and service were absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend. Can’t wait to visit again.

We celebrated my mums birthday at Milton last week and the food was top notch, and filling. The cocktails were scrumptious as well, and the bar had a very large local and international options. Presentation of food and decoration of the bar/dinning areas is really charming and feels like you’re in a big city, but still creating a cosy but sophisticated atmosphere. A big takeaway for us was the staff. They were all really lovely, welcoming and prompt. They were very professional in their service without being over the top. We’re all excited to come back and try the new dishes in the coming year.

Lucy’s service was second to none, nothing was too much of an ask for her! She goes the extra mile to make sure customers are satisfied and because of her service I’ll definitely be back again!

Went here today for my birthday lunch..my daughters recommendation when it was cognito on the corner.I must admit the decor and surroundings were very nice. That’s were it stopped.we were pretty much the 1st diners in and last to get served. I even went up and asked how long the food would take and all I got was a grunt of…I will go and ask the kitchen,we were so close to paying for the drinks bill and leaving. we ordered carrot and coriander soup for my 19 month grandaughter omg it was so salty I don’t know how an adult would of ate it,actually my partner ordered it and didn’t eat it due to that reason.everything else was fine although the club sandwich wasn’t up to much. Shame the service wasn’t good.first and last time we will be there and will be spreading the word. Get better service in the restaurant chains in golden square but it’s independent restaurants like yourself that need the support but im afraid this time your not getting mine.

We came here for brunch (Now Milton on the Corner) and the 'avocado' is terrible. Was simply just a slice of lousy bread, squashed avocado, a couple of cherry tomatoes (not sun-dried as the menu describes), and couple of eggs. The presentation was ridiculous. For £8.50, we would expect at least sourdough bread and some seasoning! The eggs Benedict was drenched in hollandaise sauce - probably to hide the fact that it was served with just two rachers of bacon. The service was fine, waitress was lovely.

Seen this place and been meaning to visit and today managed to get there and wasn't disappointed. Great drinks food and service. Would highly recommend.

I can't fault this place. The service was great and the staff were attentive enough but not bothering you all the time. The food was delicious, I had the steak burger. Really good atmosphere. We had a great time and will definitely return.

Fantastic Christmas meal. Haggis bon bons followed by traditional turkey and then a plum duff pudding. Everything was delicious, service was good and the staff were lovely. Coffee served with a little bit of tablet on the side which is a nice touch. Hand sanitiser...

Love their baked potatoes, scones and sugar free lemonades. Very fast service too. Usually come here during lunch breaks but came once with my fam. My son was positively surprised about the food choices and the great ambience. Better than some restaurants around.

Great experience, booked on a Sunday around lunchtime. Friendly staff and delicious food, not cheap by any stretch of the imagination and tends to always be booked up weeks in advance for prime slots. No surprise with the quality of food and service though. Total bill was about £90 for two, with one starter shared, two mains and drinks and discretionary service charge on the bill as well.

Ate here last night with my wife and have to say the food was excellent. The staff friendly, and drinks were great. The only reason Im giving 4 out of 5 is because they ran out of steak!! Maybe not a bad thing as I then had the pork medallions which was very tasty and my wife had the salmon wrapped in panceta. Sorry 4 stars due to lack of coo. Will be back again for sure.
