When we walked into the cafe, it was bustling with customers. However, the staff was quick to attend to us and took our order in no time. We were pleasantly surprised by how fast they served us, considering how busy it was. The seasonal drinks we ordered were delicious and tasted like they were freshly made with high-quality ingredients. The flavours were unique and perfectly complemented the cosy atmosphere of the cafe. Speaking of which, the cafe was warm and inviting, with a clean and tidy environment. It was evident that the staff took pride in their work and kept the place well-maintained. As dog owners, we were happy to see that the cafe was dog-friendly, and the staff even offered our furry friends a bowl of water. Overall, it was a great experience, and we left feeling satisfied and happy with our visit.

It’s a shame we’re regulars and lately drinks have been v frothy and a couple of weeks ago one of them chose not to serve me and I had to wait considerably while others got served and although I asked about the item he simply shrugged their shoulders at me! . Used to serve nice latte but lately been going in and has been v weak and very frothy. One even commented to say we don’t serve frothy drinks! Quite surprised they answered me back in that manner. I would have preferred good manners. It appears the loyalty in coffee 1 does not count .I don’t like a frothy drink and instead let’s make it rubbish attitude so that I will go away! We been going there a long time before some of the newish staff came along. When the drinks have been made by the right person you’re ok but I think one or two of them got a chip on their shoulder about making you a nice drink the way you ask for it !!! What a shame for the very poor immature attitude!! It’s sad that some of them who have left, left with their professional etiquette as well. Poor and rubbish behaviour from some of the staff!! It’s a dog friendly place nice location so would prefer to go but hope things improve.

We have been there a few times now and I don't know whether it was too many staff on training on the days we went or something else. The lady behind the till asked me 3 times for my order until she got what I was saying, the coffee ticket must have been wrong or something so the guys making the coffee needed to double-check with the customers, mine went wrong and they had to re do the coffee. It was busy don't get me wrong but everywhere is pretty busy on a Saturday in Lichfield and I hope management is trying to consider this with their staffing however I am well aware that finding staff post pandemic is difficult. I just hope that you will train the newbies quickly, as the coffee is good quality when done by the right person. I went during the week and it was lovely, really good, strong coffee, milk on my cappuccino was done to perfection too and the barrista was super friendly and seemed to really like the job. Talking to him about the coffee options reassured me he knows all about their products which is great. I will definitely come back and hope to give you a better review next time, but I can only go by my experiences.

13/3 - Sunday at coffee1. The service was terrible, they were to busy talking to make the coffee and the queue was 5 people deep waiting for their drinks. They kept on chatting and being very slow. Normally a relaxing place but disappointing this time when there was a lot staff on but not much happening. I waited 15 minutes for a coffee and my friend had waited 30 minutes. Come on coffee 1 sort it out!! At £3.20 for coffee I don’t expect to have to wait so long!

I have just visited your branch and I was greeted very nicely by the baristas- it was very well laid out land covid compliant (and easy to understand!) The most wonderful part of today’s visit was not the coffee (although I do love the coffee!) it was Reece and kian (I hope that’s correct!) I placed my order with Reece and my little girls were really desperate for a drink and the toilet so I paid but to my horror I had over used my contactless on my phone app and I had lost my bank card! I had also got a flat tyre on the way into town so I was quite harassed😂 Anyway- the point is , is my eldest girl has special needs and does not understand the change in routine or sudden change so to say that she can’t have something which she thinks she’s getting is a bit of a disaster but Reece was SO kind and let the children have their drinks and use the toilet without any issue being made, I can’t tell you how much this means to me especially in my circumstances! Needless to say, these boys made my day turn into a very good one! Thank you Reece and thank you coffee #1 for hiring such lovely team members! I will be back very soon to pay and drink more lovely coffee 😌

I had 40 minutes to wait for a bus so rather than suffer in a bus station open to the elements, its under renovation/ alteration, I popped next door to a shopping complex called Gresley Row. It was very busy, first impressions was that it was a bit like that very popular coffee chain with a name that conjures up the cosmos, though only in appearance and layout, the feeling was quite different, it had a warm cozy inviting feel. I ordered a flat white coffee, and decided on a lemon drizzle slice from the extensive range of cakes and pastries. They also have a selection of savoury items, panini, croissant etc. I found myself a table, now it was busy so was there no choice than to clear the table from the previous occupants myself, I was gratified that the barista thanked me and I collected my coffee and slice ready at that moment. I enjoyed the excellent coffee and the lemon drizzle slice was okay, maybe a little dry but a nice citrus tang. It is Coffee1 policy to make dogs welcome, I understand that there is a particular area in the cafe, however, I have some reservations about this policy altough I didn't see any dogs during my visit, but I am sure their owners are grateful that they can be with their pets while they enjoy a coffee. Overall an enjoyable visit and as I said a cafe with a great friendly ambience.

I visited here with a friend Friday last week just before lunchtime, i'd never been in here before but my friend had recommended it to me. Upon entering I felt right at home - the coffee house has a very quaint and homely feel which is really good considering 'Coffee#1' is a chain. I really liked the vibe of the shop which definitely didn't seem as standardised as a Costa or Starbucks. The drinks were tasty and although they were more expensive than you would pay elsewhere you didn't really mind as the whole experience made the extra cost more worthwhile. Very nice!

Three visited for late morning coffee. Coffee with custard tarts. The tarts were excellent the coffee very good which prompted me to buy house blend coffee beans to take home. 220gm £5. However there was a sign in front of three rows of bagged coffee stating '50% reduction on marked price' The sign virtually covered all three rows. I waited in a queue at a till while a female operator attempted to make a refund. The queue lengthened meanwhile. Having stood for more than 5 minutes I decided to leave but a supervisor appeared to sort out the problem. Presenting the bag of coffee I was informed the 'sign' only applied to the decaf row of bags. What a shambles!

Went here for lunch and a cake with my husband. We spotted 2 vegan dishes, a Rogan Josh and a Dahl that looked scrummy, and both were advertised as being served with a naan. We ordered them plus drinks and cake and the chap serving us got a but confused with our food order, and what bread they were meant to come with, but we got there in the end. However when the lady (maybe the manager? But definitely someone senior) brought our food over she threw her colleague under the bus by telling us she'd given him a leaflet about the new dishes 2 weeks ago and he should have remembered how to put the order through the till! We thought this was completely unnecessary, we had just assumed either the chap was new or the dishes were new, and it hadn't bothered us, we didn't need her moaning about, and embarrassing, her staff team. Anyway, other than that the food was tasty, coffee good and cakes delicious. It's a nice place with quirky decor, lots of seating, good food, if a tad overpriced (but what coffeeshop isn't these days?!) and also an area for customers with dogs. Would recommend going, just a shame the visit was tainted with the lady's comments.

Coffee 1 Chain of Cafes always maintain a good standard across their locations as does the Lichfield establishment. I would rate Coffee 1's Capucinos as probably the best in the UK (Our opinion!). Always a nice ambience with a nice selection of cakes etc and at reasonable prices compared to some other out lets. They are mainly south Wales based and I think Lichfield is their furthest North in the UK, but hopefully they could expand even further to the Northern and other Midland counties one day!!

Quite well run for a chain and in my opinion, they serve far better quality coffee than the other big three. The one in Lichfield is spacious and has a variety of seating, not everyone appreciates low, squashy sofas. The last time I visited I found the service terrible, but this time the young man that served me couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. My coffee was full of flavour and although a little strong this was rectified with additional milk which the helpful assistant gave me. We came in for lunch and first found the place full to the brim so decided to come back later. When we did get seats it was a long queue for food, though that does give you plenty of time to decide as there is a wide range on offer. Sadly they did get our order wrong about quite a few things, wrong hot chocolate, no jam with an order, only one panini instead of two. This made the wait even longer but when it was eventually all sorted it was nice enough. Probably not the best place to visit on a weekend.

The coffee here is ok, it does the job if you can't be bothered to walk around the corner to Costa or Nero, however both times I have been in here I have found the female with the short dark hair and wearing glasses to be incredibly rude and abrupt, when asking for the money it was just '£' without any please, no thank you etc, felt as if we were an inconvenience and in the way. The time before we were stood at the end of the counter and she wanted to get back behind there, and she said 'excuse ME' in a really loud and obnoxious manner. For this reason, I would not return. At Nero you get proper service, a smile, and you actually feel welcome and not an inconvenience.

Very few staff serving meant a really long wait, but as we're determined to try out everywhere in Lichfield, we queued and ordered. Coffee was nice but panini was very dry (chicken and pesto), and the food choices on offer were quite expensive. Really liked the Portuguese custard tart, though. I liked the loose leaf tea in a nice little pot and the tea cake I ordered, which was huge! The only down side was no-one seemed to be clearing the tables, hence they were piling up as customers were moving used crockery from one table to another in order to sit down. Popped in for coffee and cake with the grandchildren. Luckily, we managed to get a sofa as it was quiet. However, the guy behind the counter managed to get our order wrong. He twice bought us the wrong cakes and although the coffee was fine, the children were getting frustrated not receiving what they had asked for. Not to do the place a disservice we returned together, without the children and tried the stronger coffee which was more to my husband's taste. This time the place was full of pushchairs and the only place to sit was right at the rear in a corner alongside the counter. Not the best position, very dark. Prefer Costa.

Everyone was reserving seats because they were waiting for so long which was fine, except when we went to sit down there was limited seats despite most of them not being used yet. There is only one toilet which isn’t ideal at all for such s large place. The coffee and smoothie we had were very nice, as was the tapas cake selection ( although we did ask for certain cakes and they just plated up random ones). All ways had lovely support from staff, meet regularly on a Fri with a social group, staff always accommodating cakes a bit expensive but thats the head office fault not the staff, The noise can be over powering at times, and the general lay out to help the sound could be re thought, The disabled loo, is not adequate for a large wheelchair, and there should be more loos for the amount of covers there are, If it busy in the mornings you can expect a 20min wait for ur coffee, When fully staffed it seems to work like clock work, but if they are a bit short staffed you can expect to wait a bit, and sometimes the tables are messy due to lack of staff, I have always found them helpful and mostly with a smile, and can take a joke, It is my favourite coffee house to visit, and always my first choice

The good points of Number One are manifold and covered by other reviews. But the expresso... I have drunk expresso in many places, and had some excellent coffees in my time. But I have never been faced with the question "high roast" or "medium roast" before. When I asked what this actually meant, and I'd like an Italian roast for my expresso, I was met with total blankness from the coffee servers (barista has to be earned). I have had both "medium" and "high"; the former insipid, the latter bitter. I truly believe the expresso is produced as an ingredient for the ubiquitous flat white and other milk based coffees rather than a decent expresso itself. Which is disappointing when presented with all its marketing of superior beans etc.

On two occasions our chocolate has been cold and one only Luke warm . The coffee shop in appearance is the best one in Lichfield, just the organisation needs looking at f

This place is welcome relief from other cramped Lichfield coffee shops. I ordered a tuna melt panini and opted for the extra coleslaw which really was delicious. My four friends all ordered various things, all of which were lovely.

Somewhat what hazard seating and decor gives this place it's own charm. Nice range of beverages available and a lovely ambience.

I do like this new coffee place. My mother is light sensitive so we try to look for places that are quite dark inside and this is good. It feels more spread out and less like a chain than other coffee shops. The drinks are also nice and so are the cakes. One thing that is seriously lacking however is good staff! Went in on a saturday morning to only two staff members who were trying to serve food, serve people and make drinks. That would be fine if they were at least polite about it. They didn't say sorry about the wait or anything and one of the servers was even on her phone. They are let down massively by their staff who just couldn't seem to care less. Such a shame

I was visiting lichfield with my parents and they took me into this coffee shop, I had my two youngest and my teenage son, straight away my youngest daughters went straight to the colouring books and crayons that were available, great idea while I'm at the counter getting my order, when I was being served I noticed they had children's sized hot chocolates, never seen this before another great idea and they had all the trimming too, my son tried the chocolate frappe and he loved it, I had the coffee with was nice not too strong but not weak either, just right, staff are very friendly making sure you have everything before you leave the counter, definitely better than the other one round the corner will go again when I'm back in lichfield

We wandered into this coffee shop when passing in need of caffeine and a bite to eat. As it was not too busy we bagged a comfy Chesterfield sofa and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. A chain but it didn't feel like one. Good coffee too! There only appeared to be one person serving the steady flow of customers but still pleasant and smiling.

I popped into Lichfield to buy a shredder and notived this coffee shop opposite. My partner and I decided to go and have a coffee. The coffee was lovely and the hot choclate was also very good and rich. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. open till 6 as well so after a hard day shopping you can pop in to relax and rest those feet.

Loved it! Large spacious cafe didn't feel cramped or rushed. Nice looking food. I only had a Welsh cake and pretzel cake (sounds weird but gorgeous) all handmade I believe. Good range of drinks. Room for wheelchairs. There were chairs outside but a shame it's only a view of argos lol

We called in during a visit to Lichfield as we wanted a snack and drink on a cold day. The coffee shop was very busy which we took as a good sign. We ordered a couple of hot chocolates and some cakes.

This place a usually busy so we just popped in for a coffee and cake, good coffee and lovely cake. I would consider having lunch here as the food looked good and they have a 5-hygiene rating.

Popped in for coffee with family on a Wednesday. There was a few people inside but noticed straight away lack of sandwiches on display. Ones that were there did not look appertising at all including the Quiches. Had drinks (hot chocolate not good) we ordered teacakes which were not toasted properly and not nice, Would not recommend at all.

Have visited several coffee 1 establishments in different parts of the country this so far has been the worst. Unfriendly staff stressed out when there was only 2 people in the queue. Dirty tables and so noisy. Don't know if it's the building but the noise just echoed round the place not helped by the fact that the staff were slamming the dirty crockery around whilst collecting it. Not my favourite coffee 1.

I'm fed up with all the High Street coffee shops so I love Coffee #1 - the ambiance is great and the coffee is lovely and hot with a great taste. Great service too. Lots of lovely places to sit so it is never too over-crowded.

This coffee house was recommended to us. We would not have found it otherwise. Location is not exactly in its favour, but the decor and vintage pieces, including tables and chairs are pleasing. Interesting detail of local historic figures, such as Johnson and Darwin are shown well on the walls. Ample soft seating around tables and kitchen chairs is another pleasant find. A good range of drinks and treats is available, including decaffeinated tea. The treats are fairly pricey but the toasted tea cakes are huge. In all, a good visit although service was not exactly polished - but the food did appear very swiftly. Toilets to the rear - only one in total. Pushchair and disabled access all good for some tables. Some parking nearby.

Always wanting to try new places for coffee and cake we didn't want to let the opportunity pass when we had time to kill in Lichfield recently and I must say if I had read previous reviews prior to our visit I probably would have given Coffee#1 the swerve!

Have used Coffee#1 in Chepstow and always liked it. Now in Lichfield and just as welcoming and comfortable. Plenty of room for groups and areas to just chill with a book. Spacious layout with room for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

I've been here several times the past few months with my wife and daughter as well as friends and family. It's a massive place and always somewhere to sit and great for buggies as lots of room. We used to go to Costa around the corner but since their refit earlier in the year it's not possible with a pushchair anymore.

Stopped here for a Latte during our walk. Unfortunately it was made with instant coffee. We had a small size which was tiny. Two mouthfuls and it was gone and at £2.50 expensive. For that money you can get a decent size cup and a real latte. It is a shame because this is a nice place, but would go to the other cafe next time.

Astronomical prices! I called for a pint, only cider on was Somersby, it cost me £4.85 Dreadful place. No damn wonder it was empty, never again. Avoid, Wetherspoons is next door.
