Terrbile coffee and incredibly underwhelming atmosphere. What a waste for such a great location!

Minimum 5£ for card payment, never seem such thing in a café around the area unless we go back 10 years. Plus, when realised that was only cards payment i straight away informed the lady i would go home as live across the street to get cash when the lady on the counter more than once in a very pushy and rude way said “you can have a cake, this is a charity”, which i see no relation between being a charity and force people to spend 5£ on coffee even more when looking at the cakes it’s clear they are supermarket packaged ones and far from homemade as stated by cafe runner person. will never be back. Considering the location it has lot of potential for success but not with the people running it currently.

*An edit to my original review* I understand as a charity money needs to be made to keep it running, however no-one should be refused tap water and forced to buy 1 small aldi water bottle for £1.50 (from a multipack "not to be sold separately") especially when the sun is splitting the sky, the kids have been running around and there are no other refill points. My kids were refused their water bottles refilled from the tap. I was spoken to in a very rude way and amongst other things even told "my tap is off" and directed to the toilets. I returned (finding no drinking water) to hear the woman loudly bad mouthing me to other customers. Not what you would expect from anywhere, never mind a cafe linked to a charity. I later spoke to someone else in the cycle area who first directed me to the cafe, before taking the bottles and refilling them in seconds(he also refilled the now empty ones we were forced to buy initially).

Asked for a latte and a flat white they have a gaggia coffee machine, so expected a fresh coffee. They snuck in instant coffee charged us 6.50 for 2 instant coffees and a caramel log. Was no difference between latte and the flat white. Only realised when I tasted it. I wouldn't have minded if they charged us an honest amount. Rip off!

It was pouring outside and we felt more than welcomed. Thank you for your food (lovely home baked cakes) and hospitality.

Great that a cafe has opened here and even better it's in support of the incredible Freewheel North charity. Don't expect artisan coffee but it's perfect for a soup and sandwich or cake and a builder's tea. Very reasonably priced and staff clearly working hard to make this a success.
