Coffee Chez Illy in Conwy

We went as a family of 10, it wasn't busy and all the paninies were already made & just needed toasting- it took them 40 mins and several requests before the last one of us were served, despite the fact that other customers who had ordered after us were being served . The food was unremarkable, expensive and bland, the staff were surly & rude. Avoid at all costs.

Check the prices ordered a price of carrot cake. They charged £5 so sent it back.

Very pleasant little shop, additional seating upstairs. Good coffee. Excellent Cornish pasty and tasty Panini, served with fresh and hot tortilla chips.

So disappointed, toasted sandwiches were dreadful, decent pot of tea though. A lot of flies, not a nice experience sorry

Avoid at all costs. Guy at the counter pretty rude, took 10 minutes for them.to bring out 2 coffees when it wasn't busy, 20 minutes for them to heat up a scone, and we had to go up 3 times got a pasty, when they were all premade ready in the heater, he only gave it to us when we said we were leaving and want it to go. At least 30 minutes to put a pasty from the heater to the plate and they didn't despite being asked multiple times, it wasn't especially busy either.

We went in and ordered two coffees to go, we had just seen one person come out who had been waiting for her drink to go, so we went inside. We ordered our coffees and was told to wait outside on the pavement, which was very busy, this came as a bit of a shock, being told to wait outside. There was plenty of room inside and even some empty seats, but the rudeness was quite unexpected. Had my husband not paid, we would of gone elsewhere, clearly the staff don't like tourists or maybe it's because, we've been told by several people, the Welsh don't like the English. This is our first time in North Wales and if this is an example of their hospitality, it will probably be our last.

Awful.. Worst coffee and lemon drizzle cake ever tasted.. Avoid!

We stopped off here for lunch, food was pleasant enough. Everybody enjoyed their food. Man behind the counter was lacking any sort of manners. Not really bothered about being polite or writing down what we ordered but extremely keen to ring the bill up and get the money. Orders came out wrong twice with no apology from staff just the waitress saying "I am not sure what happened I have just started", which seems like a passing the buck tactic. Food good, service poor.

Absolutely disgusting food! The restaurant was overpriced and we were overcharged also. We were informed we could sit upstairs in extra seating to the find dirty pots and cutlery on every table, food and crumbs all over the floor! The restaurant was dirty full of cobwebs! The food then arrived after a long wait and coffees missing delivered to wrong table!! The food was awful and left us feeling nausea for hours later even at the thought of it! We have never saw or tasted panini like it! Then after lunch I went to the toilet before leaving which if I had done beforehand I would have demanded a refund and would never of ate here! The toilets are filthy, unhygienic and haven’t been cleaned in a very long time! The toilet was full of brown splashes and stains it was awful! I would hate to think what the kitchen looks like!! This place needs shutting down for a deep clean I am sure if inspected it would be less than a 3 this time around!!!

Found some seating upstairs very small downstairs but miss match seating up there also toilets next floor above,food and drinks were fine maybe a bit expensive and menu poor but service ok,but what let it down is appearance upstairs needs a rethink and decorating and toilets were old and weren’t the cleanest,we called here as there was seating available but wouldn’t rush back anytime,it filled our bellies whilst we had a rest.

Great little cafe, food was really nice, staff were friendly Very clean I took elderly parents and the only problem was there was no room down stairs so there were a lot of stairs to climb to dine on 2nd floor and more stairs to top floor for toilets, which my parents really struggled with, other than that it was great

Stopped in for a quick lunch while in the town. Really enjoyed the food, milkshakes and coffee. Would definitely visit again.

Best coffee in Conwy! You must try the Illy coffee cream, duetto. Incredible! Staff are lovely and cafe is really peaceful!

Ordered soup , panini and hot drinks. My husband finished eating his because mine had been forgotten. Asked lady in charge i asked for white bread , instead of taking my plate away she took bread with her hands. Couldnt eat soup anyway as full of garlic which im allergic to. What a waste of money.

Nice little place, lovely coffee, delicious tuna melt panini. Only watch item: ordered a large cappuccino, noticed bill was higher than expected. Only when questioned did the owner mentioned that he is including chips/cookies with the coffee. We politely declined and he had to reduce the bill. Cheeky.

We had a lovely welcome at this small cafe, and a bonus that it is dog friendly too 🐾 we had the best decaf flat white coffees. Will visit again when in the area. ❤️

Popped in with my two kids, they really enjoyed their hot chocolate and I had an amazing latte! Very accommodating for every customer that walked in. Selection of lovely cakes, we had some homemade soup and the kids had a panini! Very welcoming staff and lovely layout! very cute find! Thanks

Popped in for coffee and cake. No clear menu of snacks available so chose cakes from counter. Coffee was lovely but carrot cake was dry. Also asked for a scone which arrived with jam and cream which we hadn’t requested but was needed as the scone was so hard and dry. Visited the toilets which needed a good clean and a bottle of bleach down the pan!

Be careful here weird staff member staring at you while you order from someone else very quiet when they say the price £18 for 2 mochas and 2 really terrible plastic ham and cheese panini’s, should’ve been paying attention. the area isn’t friendly to tourists just waiting for their chance to grab your money. Freaky staff scared me away from here for a good while.

Great coffee, excellent service

10/09/23: really enjoyed a lightly toasted currant teacake, which came with jam, and a Mocha. The mocha was very hot and very tasty. The server was a bit quiet, but it didn't detract from the food. Quaint little café serving Illy coffee, just before the archway leading to the Harbour. Also dog friendly!

A friend and I ordered a fruit smoothie and a frappe - both very disappointing. I would have called the smoothie a fruit-flavoured slushy (very sweet and tasted like it was made from a syrup) and the frappe was merely a poorly made iced-coffee (not very cold and nothing more than coffee and ice-cubes). Not very friendly service either.

All staff really lovely. Came here with my 3 grandkids plus nephew (in a wheelchair) and they were all super helpful. Great service, delicious food. My grandkids wanted to give TEN stars!! Well worth a visit. Thank you xx

Had a panini and coffee for breakfast. Excellent friendly service. Well known and used by the local community. Children welcome.

Visited here yesterday and was shocked at the prices. I appreciate its in a prime location but its so expensive and basic. We ordered 3 paninis and for £7 each we thought they'd come with garnish or be presented nicer but nothing just them on a plate. 2 pieces of toast was £3.20. We ordered a jacket potato and beans for our youngest. £7 and there was literally a spoonful of beans on it. Very basic for the cost. Wouldn't recommend eating here.

Good coffee beans (Illy) are not enough to make a good coffee, but they don't seem to know it.

We had a bismal service at this cafe ….and it isn’t the first time. We visit Conway regularly and stopped for a coffee and cake, thinking it may have improved. How wrong we were, we were met with the owner who is always chewing a wasp and not the slightest bit interested in the customers in front of her. She completely blanked us and obviously does not care about good customer service …. We waited to be acknowledged , we then sat at a table in front of her. Her attitude was much the same last time we visited. Plain rude. And ignorant. Hence we would not visit this establishment again. We are both very nice unassuming people who have both had our own businesses working in hospitality and I understand without good customer service you have no business.

Best coffee in Conwy. Very friendly super quick service with gorgeous selection of cakes and paninis. Recommend you get your coffee from here. They do take out too to take and sit at the harbour.

Had a lovely time at Casa Illy in Conwy! The atmosphere is cosy and charming, with great art on the walls. The latte and large tea were both delicious, and the upstairs seating is really comfortable. Don't miss the amazing coffee and walnut cake - so moist and tasty! Highly recommend this cafe.

What a lovely little cafe. Staff very friendly and food delicious and fresh. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Nice selection of Italian Coffee and cakes

Cute cafe and that’s about all that’s good. Nearly £4 for a scone that isn’t even warmed up is appalling. Let alone a stale one. These scones have obviously been sitting in the cabinet for a while, despite spending so much I simply could not finish it. Came in over an hour before closing and the staff we rude and felt very unwelcoming. I’m not one to bash on hospitality as working in the industry I know it’s exhausting but you should never allow a customer to feel so unwelcome from the very first step into the store. Definitely won’t be returning and I don’t recommend you do either.

Very friendly coffee shop, great place for meeting like minded people.

Coffee ok and they are dog friendly, however charging £2.50 for a four finger KitKat is a rip off too far. I dont think we will be going there again. You can rip people off once but you will lose their future custom.

Me and my husband and daughter go in regularly. We love to be greeted with a lovely smile from the owner, and a nice warm coffee. In our opinion, the best in Conwy. We are always welcomed, even our dog. Seating is upstairs if it gets busy downstairs. There is a nice choice of cakes and snacks too. Cold refreshments are available. Highly recommend this cafe for anyone visiting conwy or surrounding areas.

The toilets were further away than in a wetherspoons.

GO ELSEWHERE...Sorry to put this but you would expect a better.... well for the price £27 for a couple of paninins and a dry, pathetic sandwich 3 bottles of water and a coffee. we had to send back as there was no salad on it as advertised and the cheese as it was in packet was sweltering in the heat. Which made it taste vile. .. Dirty cutlery. Such as shame for a good location cafe.

Nice looking cafe it ends there .Miserable owner. Doesn't smile even when taking money .Decaff latte was like a cup of milk .

Lovely place to just sit, drink a hot chocolate and read in a corner. Especially when it's raining like today. Friendly staff too.

Illy coffee is my favourite , lovely spuce of cake. Very close to the harbour.

The best coffee in Conwy. I started off with a medium latte during my first visit and was so impressed that returned the next day for a large latte. Great service from the staff and the hot chocolate was also awesome as well. 
Top tip: If it is busy downstairs try the seating on the first floor which has plenty of seats and great wifi.

Finally found a place that makes a propper coffee and has Normal WHOLE Milk in stock.

Extremely expensive & poor quality. It was £3.20 for a takeaway coffee that was watery and served in a cardboard cup smaller than a coke can. I genuinely felt completely ripped off. I can’t believe the owners are happy to charge for prices like this and think it’s okay. Rubbish!

I only had a coffee wsrm and friendly atmosphere

Hi popped in here 1 morning while waiting for some family to have a tooth out the only bonus bout this cafe is it opens early I was waiting with my daughter & friend it as you no was very cold so we was only one's in due to being early in morning there was a lady that looked like owner & young girl we found a table then went to order there was no good morning chat you sometimes get while ordering her face looked like she didn't want be there & to top it off very expensive between the 3 of us we got 1 hot white chocolate 1 normal hot chocolate 1 cup of Tea a toasted tea-cake 2 pieces of Toast it all came to £14 the Toat that you had butter yourself was 2 slices for £2 a £1 a slice my daughter made a comment saying for that price she just bought the cafe 2 loafs of bread & she get 2 slices cause we couldn't believe the price the lady then kept trying listen to our conversation our visit was unpleasant & if ever a next time will wait in cold then go back in that cafe

A charming little cafe. We much enjoyed our brew and tea cake, it is a quirky setup with a mixture of both modern and retro furnishings. There is a wide selection of pictures on the wall available to both view and purchase. We sat upstairs next to the widow in a nice bright room. We had the pleasure of relaxing sounds from acoustic guitar being played outside flowing through the open window, which gave a very comfortable and relaxing experience. Looses 1 star due to cleanliness. A little more effort and attention to detail would make a vast difference. Light switches on the way upstairs looked extremely grubby, just little things like that. All in all a lovely place, well worth a visit.

Service werent great, coming in 30 mins before close we didn't seem welcome. Two teas, a very dry small brownie and small average rocky road for £9.40. Wouldn't return. Cafe itself was cosy

Dire. Firstly, there was a complete lack of engagement from the staff. The table wasn't wiped and I had to ask the half-hearted member of staff to fill up the milk in the latte. What a shame as we were hoping for a lovely relaxed experience in nice environment. Sadly, there was no atmosphere, lack of customer service, general cleanliness and overall customer experience.

I love the coffee here it reminds me of Spain. The staff are really happy and make you feel valued. Lovely choice of cake and sandwiches. The place is clean and tidy well decorated with upstairs seating. It's a short walk to the sea front harbour and the smallest house. I'd give it ten out of ten. The staff were young ladies and are the opposite of the negative reviews. I couldn't give them enough praise for their excellent customer service

Brilliant cakes, and a good sized mug of tea to go with it. The service was quick and efficient, which got a flow of customers through. My advice, if it looks full when you look in, there's more seating upstairs.

Manager doesn't even look up when he speaks to you. The waitress was fine. Food plain.

Great place good food and price

We had 2 cappuccinos, they were really good , the taste was absolutely fine, it's what you except from an Italian coffee. Despite that I can't give more than 3 stars. We found the customer service poor and not professional. It was a brief stop at this shop but the man at the till did not put us at ease. Looked distracted and no use of please, good morning or thank you. Prices too expensive. I understand that the quality of the coffee is high but £3.20 for a cappuccino is extremely high.

A nice cafe, wellsituated near the walls and water with plenty of seating upstairs.The cakes are delicious and homemade but a bit pricy.There are no menus just a chalk board behind the counter and not many prices are displayed well. You are asked to order first then find a seat but you don’t know if there are any free seats upstairs when you enter.

Stopped here for a coffee whilst visiting Conwy. It’s ok but not great, coffee was average for me and there didn’t seem to be much care taken with precautionary COVID measures.

Ordered a panini and a soup plus drinks. The soup was fine however the panni was a little underwhelming. Came just on its own no garnish accompaniment. Spacing for Covid was a little on the tight side and we were not offer as per the regs in Wales to have our details taken manually. Just assumed we would have the app. No table service or hand sanitiser at the door. We had to order at the counter. Food was brought but the guy behind the counter had his mask under his nose! I would not visit again with current restrictions despite the soup being ok.

We ordered a Belgium waffle, capuccino, sparking water and a raspberry and white chocolate cake. Total price around £7 which we thought was very good value for money.The waffle was served with sauce and cream and was very tasty. The cake was a fairly large piece, however dry on the parts without icing. The staff were friendly and even called out to me when I forgot to take my water with me.The toilets were clean but located on the top floor.Overall would recommend

We came here for a quick coffee as we visited conwy. The coffee was nice and the staff very friendly. Downside, it isn't veru covid safe. Tabkes aren't cleaned properly after customers, no Hand sanitisers, and the sugars in napkin on the tables are not very helpful if you don't know how many people touched them before

asked for sugar to be changed as lumpy and dirty. The sugar was changed and came back in same dirty bowl all tables and chairs needed cleaning

Stopped by with my family, had a lovely homemade biscoff cake accompanied by a lovely latte. The scones looked fresh served with good quality clotted cream, jam and butter! The service was one to remember and very good Covid precautions! Thank you guy!!
