Codrophenia in County Durham

Well we have been here loads of times and has always been good. Went today Fri 29th March 2024, Ok it’s Good Friday but you would think they would be prepared. After a bit of a wait watching people get served that came in after us, a waitress came over and took our order but there was only small fish and no large, well call me a conspiracy theorist but the small fish was half a large fish so where were they getting the small fish from 🤔. It was plain to see that it was all to do with money as the small fish was £7 something and the large was £12 odd… so along came our meals and it was ridiculous a bit of fish 4” x 6” and about 15 chips if that. Well I’m sorry but we won’t be back ever for the sake of making an extra few quid you’ve lost two regulars… plus gave the girl a £5 tip before we got the food and she didn’t even say thanks! Shame on you

We love going to Dalton Park but would prefer to have a meal and not to have to use a cafe. Nothing wrong with the cafes but there used to be a selection of restaurants there then it all changed. So pleased to see this place which does very nice fish and chips. It gets very busy but I understand you can book a table in advance. They will do me a fish without batter which I cannot have and it is always good. Looking forward to going again.

Hi all. Popped in here today. We ordered 2 fish and chips for a fiver each and our daughter got a chicken parmo. I can honestly say both my wife and I thought the fish and chips were the best weve had in years, in fact I don't think or cant think when weve had better...? Really nice people, family ran place. Good music and spotlessly clean. Our daughter lover her parmo aswell. Give it a go you wont be disappointed:)

Visited Codrophenia today to be greeted by friendly staff . The fish and chips were really nice and cooked to order . The chunky chips were really tasty too .Will definitely be going again and would highly recommend.

Following a recommendation,we called in with two of our grandchildren,and were not disappointed.They have a good menu with reasonable prices,very friendly staff,and good table service.The restaurant is bright and airy,but they have a take away menu if required.Will definitely eat there again.

This themed restaurant served up a perfect fish and chip meal with all the things you want to go with them. Well priced and the staff are excellent. Give it a go, we will be back.

We’re regulars at Dalton Park so finding a fish and chip shop right in the middle of the shopping centre was a lovely surprise, it makes a change from the usual food places. There’s quite a good sizes seating area but judging by the amount of people coming in and finding all the tables full they could do with doubling the size. It has a table service the lady who served us was very friendly and the service was excellent. All food cooked fresh and served in good time. Even the seniors portion is huge so beware. Fish chips and mushy peas for a fiver has to be the best value anywhere. I really hope this excellent chippy keeps to the standard we had today it’s always a good sign when every table is full and there’s people waiting. For value proper English food you can’t beat this new place Oh and the name brilliant as is the decor as an ageing Mod it was right up my street I did wear my parka but sadly not my one with the fish tail.
