Clocktower Cafe Bar - Auchincruive in South Ayrshire

The Clocktower needs more staff. Plain and simple. The chef is clearly talented and when the food finally arrived (after 90 minutes) we all enjoyed. If the front of house knew they were short-staffed, they should have mentioned that to paying guests from the moment they walked in, and let them decide whether or not they had time to stay. We waiting 45 mins just for our drinks to arrive. When our food arrived 45 minutes after the drinks, one order was wrong. The staff were polite but clearly today's issue might be a regular occurance going by previous reviews. Shame, as we live locally but this would stop us coming again.

Casual lunch for 2 in a well presented and tastefully decorated building full of character. It's on two levels so if stairs present a problem please advise when booking. Staff were attentive and tables were carefully wiped and disinfected before being reset. We both had pepper sauce Haggis, neeps and tatties followed by a LARGE seafood platter that we shared. Extensive selection of cakes, scones and designer biscuits. Reasonable prices and a menu that should suit most. As others have mentioned service might be slow when it's busy so don't expect to be in and out in jig time. Outside patio to the rear that will suit doggie lovers [and vocal kids!!]

Afternoon Tea was amazing as was the service. Would highly recommend this lovely venue . Staff couldn't have been helpful.

Excellent service and a delicious afternoon tea made our special celebration so memorable . Nothing was too much bother to the staff and our GF friend was delighted with her platters.

Had afternoon tea and have to say it was absolutely amazing. We were a large group and had upstairs to ourselves. This restaurant is a true gem, loved everything about it....from the minute we walked in, the staff were welcoming, the decor beautiful, the food was amazing and the prices were reasonable. 100% recommend and would love to return on our next visit from Cumbria.

Ordered a gourmet hotdog for lunch today and it was absolutely delicious! The side fries, slaw and panko breaded onion rings were a tasty addition also. My Latte was perfect with the taste and temperature. On leaving, I treated myself to a strawberry tart and Wow! The best strawberry tart i have ever had! not too sickly or heavy, strawberries really juice, pastry texture just right with its crunch and the sauce was just sooo yum! The restaurant was beautiful, very cosy and relaxing to sit in. Service very friendly. All in all, VERY impressed, can't wait to return to try more! Highly reccomend, and would suggest booking as folk could only get a table if they had a reservation. Small inside but busy!

Lovely meal& very helpful staff. There were six of us, we all had something different & all enjoyed what we ate. We will definitely return. Had been in for coffee and cakes a previous time they were delicious also. Hope people give them a try as they will surely return due to the high standards.

First visit here. Friendly staff and sat outside in the sunshine. Service was good and the menu excellent. Everything served was very good.

We didn’t book and when we arrived it was very busy.As it was lovely day we were offered a table outside which was lovely.Staff were very friendly and helpful.The service was great and so was the food.The cakes are amazing, will definitely be back .

Great staff but breakfast was a bit on the greasy side. We ordered a clock tower grilled breakfast and a clock tower light breakfast. We would go again and order something different.

It is unusual to find somewhere that ticks all the boxes, the team have ticked them all. Well done, it was worth the drive from Kilwinning. 👍

We absolutely love the Clocktower. It has become our “go to place”. We have been for morning coffee and cake, breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and finally dinner at the weekend. The quality of food is exceptional. Lots of choices and specials on most days. There is a wonderful atmosphere and the decor is quirky and interesting. There is also an outdoor seating area. Everything is done to a high standard. Staff are super friendly and very welcoming .

We have visited the Clocktower three times. Christmas Eve for dinner, a fortnight ago for a friends birthday for afternoon tea and again today when two of us had afternoon tea and our daughter lunch. A really nice vibe to the restaurant. Food lovely and staff friendly and so so helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed each time we have visited and would recommend. Can be nice walking round the estate too. We will be back.

This was our second visit in two weeks. The first visit service was good, staff friendly and food good. Today's visit couldn't have been more different. When we arrived one person was waiting for a 'take away' and there was a couple just finishing. There was no sign of anyone to acknowledge our arrival. When the waitress arrived out drinks order was taken straight away before another couple arrived. While waiting for our drinks to arrive and our food order to be taken the other couple's drinks and food order was taken immediately. The waitress walked straight passed us without saying a word. We waited for someone to take our food order while still waiting to receive our drinks. With still no sign of our drinks and no sign of anyone taking our food order we decided to leave. As we left I noticed the person waiting for their 'take away' was still there! Perhaps they were short staffed or we caught them on an off day.?

Visited for lunch, wonderful experience from start to finish! Comfortable surroundings, great service and the food was outstanding! Big portions with quality ingredients. Took some cakes home and they were also fabulous, we will definitely be back!

Visited on Monday for lunch. Surprised it was so busy but maybe I shouldn't have been due to the standard of the food and service Food was delicious and served by smiling can do staff.

Enjoyed a well cooked, well presented small breakfast. It can do without wilted greenery. The decor is pleasant. The service was prompt and efficient. However, I think the menu is trying to be too clever using brioche for French toast, and croissants for eggs Benedict. Far too rich. They are classics for a reason, they work! I did ask if they could do French toast with white bread, and they said they could. Will definitely return.

Brilliant cafe/bar. Decor beautiful. Food amazing, cakes and baking looked delicious but we were to full from lunch to try them out. The staff wonderful. Will definitely be back

We were went to Clocktower for Xmas lunch on Tuesday 19th Dec. From entry until we left all staff were excellent without being over the top,. just excellent. |Now for the Xmas lunch - WHOOO it was great, between my wide and myseld we ordered all three courses, all well presented and tasted fantastic.Of the three courses we had problem deciding which was the best, Xmas pudding just tipped the Turkey. All in all a excellent visit, as we are local we will be back

Always liking for good spots in and around Ayr, and this is up there with the best. Food was excellent, and beautifully presented. Beyond the excellent food the staff were brilliant, friendly and attentive, and the decor is spot on. Will definitely be back soon

A lovely venue very stylish decor, the food is of the highest quality I had a starter of panko chicken with an asian salad it was superb I would have been happy to have that as a main course . Highly recommend .

The restaurant is in a beautiful location, just outside Ayr. There is a good choice of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options in a lovely setting. The service was prompt and very friendly and the restaurant has been decorated to a very high standard. There is also an abundance of cakes and sweet things to take away. We had a delicious lunch - macaroni cheese, mushroom frites and fish cakes. Good sized portions and a lovely atmosphere.

Absolutely gorgeous afternoon tea with friends for belated birthdays. Lovely setting upstairs very relaxing and ideal for a good chat. Started with a savoury plate each which was lovely, sandwiches fruit/plain scones all freshly prepared followed by selection of dainty cakes, delicious and stuffed to say the least. Best afternoon tea I have had in a while friends in agreement. Staff friendly,attentive and couldn't do enough for you. Will definitely be back

Went for lunch and it was fantastic . Beautifully decorated and the staff could not be more helpful . The fish plate was amazing andbthe sandwiches outstanding . Cant wait to go back and try dinner

We had dinner here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Although a little bit out of the way, it is definitely worth searching out this little gem.

We were there yesterday for lunch. Food was delicious. Lovely setting and atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be going back soon next time for an evening meal

A new restaurant with a nice choice of dishes. I was lucky enough to have a breakfast and coffee followed by a family lunch 19th July 2023 being the day they opened and it was all very nice. Revisited for an evening meal last night...

Not sure what was best....the food or the service. This was an excellent experience with delicious food easily up to any local restaurant. The staff were all really friendly and attentive. All in all a great experience. Can't wait to go back

Lovely location but car park is a bit of a walk which in winter could put people off. Food was lovely, a wee bit of a wait though. A few wee niggles with waiting staff ie a large drinks spillage wasn’t wiped up when pointed...

Lovely brunch at Clocktower Cafe Bar. Beautiful surroundings, food very good, staff friendly and attentive. Was there so long had coffee and cake too! Will definitely be paying another visit.

Lovely find. Had a meal here with partner and a few friends. Staff were very friendly and food was great. We shared a chicken starter followed by the salmon curry and feather blade beef - Will definitely return👍🏼
