Overnight as visiting culzean castle. Nice warm welcome . Smallish menu ( this is a good thing !) venison burger , cooked perfectly, nice portion of chips and a pot of coleslaw . Only had a pint of beer but it was fine. Excellent service without being over the top

My friend and I plus one dog ended up at Maybole on Saturday 8th October 2022. We didn't want anywhere too packed out as wanted a quiet drink and some nibbles and we decided to try the Bistro. My friend went in to ask if we were ok to go in and sit by the fire - we weren't exactly dressed for a Saturday night out, but the gentleman who owned the place really couldn't have been more welcoming! We ended up sat by a lovely open fire with a nice glass of wine each - we then decided we wanted some nibbles. What we wanted wasn't on the menu but the owner was so happy to put something together for us and accommodate me as a vegan too, it was great. Cannot recommend highly enough supporting this local business. Would be lovely to go back again. Thank you.

I visited the restaurant with my sister for an early dinner after finding it on a Google search for local restaurants while on holiday. It is tucked away from the main road so you wouldn’t find it driving through Maybole. It was very quiet when we got there as we were eating at 5:00pm. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. The restaurant is full of character and the food was delicious. There isn’t any dedicated parking for the restaurant and it’s best to park in one of the car parks off the main road and walk down the narrow road to the restaurant. We would certainly go there again and I can highly recommend it.

Very nice inside and lovely sunny conservatory and beer garden. As it got busier we had a bit of a wait for the desert menu and I never got my tea but he was on his own and had a few tables to look after of larger groups so I understood. Would say its the nicest place to go to eat and drink in Maybole.

Run by an experienced husband and wife team, Broun's Bistro at The Welltrees is a cosy, welcoming place with traditional appeal and great food and service.Come in and sit by the fire whilst being served a drink from the carefully selected cosmopolitan wine or beer list whilst you browse the seasonal menu and daily blackboard specials. You won't be disappointed by the delicious and beautifully presented food that is laid down before you and will leave happy and content, feeling like you just discovered a well kept secret that you can't wait to tell your friends about! The restaurant has four distinct zones for dining including the main room, conservatory, covered outdoor terrace and beer garden. It also has a separate snug if you just want to pop in for a drink. It is both dog and child friendly and its separate dining zones make it great for large groups and couples alike. Its situated just off the High Street in a sympathetically restored traditional building with ample on street parking. Whether you visit in the summer and enjoy some al fresco dining or come in winter to enjoy the cosy fire you will love it!

Been three or four times now. Lovely food every time. Had a wee glass of fizz at the comfy sofa/log fire area first, then ate our lunch in the sunny convervatory. I had macaroni cheese (my favourite!) with garlic bread AND chips, washed down with a nice glass of Rioja. My husband had the Sunday roast (thinly sliced beef). He was on the diet coke as he was driving. On a previous visit we ate in the beer garden area, which is great on a sunny day. Would really recommend.

We visited this restaurant for Sunday Lunch as a family of 10.We were greeted by the very friendly owners. We were looked after extremely well by the owners Liz and Ian and their waitress Natalie. Our food was amazing real home cooked food and was served up very efficiently & quickly. All the meals were cooked to perfection. The steak pie was amazing, the Sunday roast beef too. All our party were very happy with all their meals. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere very cosy especially as after our meal we sat at the roaring coal fire for drinks. I would highly recommend this pub/bistro you will not be disappointed.

A little treasure of a place in a town with few choices for eating out of an evening. We were greeted with a roaring fire, sofas and a warm welcome. The pub is festooned with dried hops from Kent.. a nod to the owners' days in the South East. The food was really good and we could tell it was freshly prepared. They don't have a gluten free menu being such a small operation - or a separate fryer for gluten free chips - but were really happy to have a chat about it and offered to cook up something specially for us. They suggested a phone call the day before to ensure a wider range of gluten free options. We have already planned our next visit.

This is a welcome addition to Maybole (summer 2018). Family run gastropub in the traditional sense, not trendy just good traditional food and a surprisingly well chosen wine list. We have eaten here twice in the last month and will be back. Dishes have a "Scottish" twist and are all freshly cooked to order. The interior is traditionally Scottish, and there is a good outdoor area to the rear, partially covered, and in the garden. Good views to the south, Kildoon Hill and the Southern Uplands. Hard to believe that this was the former "Glue Pot" from which the Boys from Maybole famously set out in Auld Reekie to the World Cup in Spain '82!

This was such a pleasant surprise. We were staying in Glenapp Castle and expected traditional fine dining in the main building, but not a Michelin-quality modern restaurant in the grounds. I was sceptical at first and had to be convinced by my partner to try this place, but I was certainly glad I did! The atmosphere on arrival is beautiful - you have a welcome canapes and drink in a green house area with pools, fresh growing herbs and other greenery around you. It was very special. Afterwards, you are treated to a fantastic, modern cuisine dinner that is exceptional with an excellent selection of wines. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying in the Ballantrae area. Just lovely!
