This was such a pleasant surprise. We were staying in Glenapp Castle and expected traditional fine dining in the main building, but not a Michelin-quality modern restaurant in the grounds. I was sceptical at first and had to be convinced by my partner to try this place, but I was certainly glad I did! The atmosphere on arrival is beautiful - you have a welcome canapes and drink in a green house area with pools, fresh growing herbs and other greenery around you. It was very special. Afterwards, you are treated to a fantastic, modern cuisine dinner that is exceptional with an excellent selection of wines. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying in the Ballantrae area. Just lovely!

Monktonhill RoadWe’ve been here umpteen times; birthdays, valentines, weddings and it’s always the same random issues ? We can’t fault the staff at all, but their hands are tied by the kitchen and whoever is in charge on any given day. We both had the roast sirloin with roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire puddings. It was the poorest offering we’ve ever had here : the beef was rare ( to the point of still bleeding out ) and the other was nuked. We both ordered medium. The potatoes were reheated from lunch, the green beans had bypassed hot water and were raw ( uncooked ) and forgive me, the pudding would easily find a slot replacement on my drive. We paid a substantial amount for the experience and trust me, it will never happen again.
