Clippers Restaurant & Bar in Salford

During my recent four-night stay at Copthorne Hotel, I had the pleasure of dining at the Clippers restaurant, and I must say, the experience exceeded my expectations in every aspect. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The service provided by the waitstaff was exemplary; they were attentive, courteous, and efficient. I particularly commend the professionalism of the waitress who served me during my visits. Her attention to detail and promptness in addressing any requests truly enhanced my dining experience. I know, the menu was not too varied - however, the options I chose were absolutely delightful: soup of the day slow-cooked Lancashire Lamb Hotpot and Lightly Spiced Chicken Tikka Curry. What impressed me the most was the quickness of service without compromising on quality, ensuring that every guest received prompt attention and service.

Hotel bar, very small, limited drinks on offer. The TV was hazy, I was watching football I thought the cameraman had snow on the lens. Paid for breakfast which was mediocre and was £16.

Great place round here for walking and fresh air

We wanted to eat prior to watching a match at Old Trafford. The restaurant manager agreed that we could visit with a table of 10. Very friendly staff and great food. Well situated near to Old Trafford.

Food was absolutely stunning, great service from the waitress Nika she was really friendly and accommodating!

Food is not the best Service is mixed sometimes days good some days bad

If you stay at the hotel you have to try the food, i have never tasted chips like them in my life. The staff are very friendly and very professional and a lovely view over the old docks.

Only 1 person serv ing up to about 20 tables, the bar and clearing/clearing tables. Wait for everything drinks, ordering food, the food and the bill. Other staff around but they generally served other tables and room service orders.

Restaurant service for dinner and breakfasts very good. Service in Clippers Bar couldn't be faulted. Food in both good.

I don't expect much from hotel restaurants, but this was lower quality than usual; Fish and Chips you normally can't ruin, but it was dry and tasteless. I'd challenge the 'homemade' tartare sauce - seriously, whose home? Take a walk down the road, you get better food, and spend less.

Lamb was nice, treacle tart was cold and hard. Service brilliant. Prices are fair and wine list is decent. Would return.

Here with a bus load from work on a conference Quickly seated and order taken at 7.10pm We all waited and waited 8.35 pm we had the picture attached delivered to our table a medium rare steak and 6 chips a tomato and a mushroom The steak was left by 3 of us due to it being overdone and full of grizzle Horrible isn't the word,one of my work colleagues frank even said where's the rest of my steak and chips ??? Is that it after waiting an hour Very poor indeed

as mentioned in main review, offers a good mix of choice but in food and budget, staff all very helpful and friendly

Returned this week for coffee and cake with two colleagues. I had forgotten how peaceful and lovely the view is from the restaurant. From the front of the hotel you would never know what a lovely aspect the restaurant has.

Pre Booked, Pre Paid Meal for Two. Waiting staff uncertain what this entitles us to but it transpires we can order any food up to the value of £21.00 per person. Menu is limited but interesting. Starters arrived late and were missing elements. When this was pointed out some missing elements were brought out but others were out of stock. Not told this when ordering. Main course also arrived late and again missing items. This blamed on agency chef who was unfamiliar with menu. Waiting staff did try to resolve problem and refunded 50% of bill. Next time will eat in the Trafford Centre.

The food was good a bit pricey and the potion size were weird(one night had the ham terrine was huge and the next night salmon fish cake was small and both cost same?) The service was terrible took 45 mins for main to arrive and they were all busy crowding round the till

As the title says, the lady behind the bar was great - knows what she is doing, does it quickly and is very friendly. Plenty of space to stand or sit in a group too.

Traditioneel full English breakfast, met de smerigste roereieren die ik ooit heb gehad. Verse fruitsalade, 2 soorten muesli en wat gedroogd fruit. 1 soort kaas, 1 soort vleeswaren, 1 soort smerig brood. Als je niet voor bonen in tomatensaus en alle bijbehorende worst, vlees en eieren gaat, dan kun je hier nauwelijks terecht. Erg minimaal allemaal, geen aanrader, maar past bij de rest van het hotel.

Dinner once and breakfast twice in this quayside hotel and restaurant this was a pleasant experience with good attentive service and good choice of items from the menu cooked to order.

The menu is quite limited. Offers a couple of vegetarian options. Quite pricey. My hubby had rib eye steak which he asked for cooking medium, it arrived very well done, no hint of pink. I had chicken breast in creamy mushroom sauce. Not much sauce and the chicken was quite dry, We felt that the food overall was a little pricey for the quality. Wine averages £25 a bottle.When we went there was only one other diner, and a couple came in later so it was very quiet. We could have done with some music in the background. As you can imagine we didn't want to linger.

Whilst this bar / restaurant was part of our accommodation provision we spent little time here. The service on our first evening was appalling - a ten minute wait at the bar to be served whilst staff were ' busy' serving customers in another room was the start of the poor delivery. We chose to both eat and drink away from here. We did raise concerns with management and things did improve after this event - we still didn't eat here though! This was a poor performance form a Hotel that is rated as a 4 star provider

Eat elsewhere. It was not that busy but everything took ages and the food was poor. Other people complained at the service or lack of it.

This is where our evening meal was supplied, it is a very basic carvery style, nothing special to comment on and breakfast was similar.

Started off badly our bookings hadn't come across properly. i had to sort that out.We had a DBB rate. We were told that we can order anything of the menu and they were true to their word which was the one positive of the stay.The food was very disappointing. the first night I ordered a chicken escalope which I was expecting to be thin and breaded. It was just a chicken breast. The secret is to order bar food comes a lot faster than the main restaurant.Breakfast is understaffed couldn't get a cup of tea easily.The service was appalling, so slow in the main restaurant. Took nearly 2hours to go from ordering to delivery. I ordered a rare steak, and my work colleague a medium rare. The waitress appeared with 2 steaks and could not identify which one was which. turned out both were the same.Another night I ordered the Pork escalope, see above, it was delivered as a pork loin steak (see photo). Nothing appears to come with veg, so that needs to be ordered as a side.Lastly on the food, for amusement please see the Wye and Severn Scottish smoked salmon......Only1 lift was working, check the other reviews this has been going on for weeks.Unfortunately can't recommend this place.

The starter of crispy king prawns costing £7.25 consisted of 4 very small batter coated prawns on some leaves and I did complain about the portion size. I had duck for main course which was very tasty and my husband had cod with crab mash which he enjoyed but again the portion sizes were inadequate. The menu was limited. We had eaten here previously and enjoyed a more varied menu. Overall we didn't think we got good value and food and wine was overpriced. On a good note we found the lady who served us to be very good and professional.

Ate here during our overnight stay last week (Sept 14); we both selected the fixed price 3 course menu which we thought was excellent value at £19 per person. The food was delicious, menu interesting if a little limited but we both found items we fancied on it at each course. There was a little wait between ordering and receiving the starters and again between starters and mains, but nothing too excessive.Staff were friendly and approachable - sharing a joke with us - but not intrusive. If you get a seat by the window it is a very pleasant setting. There are steps (about 3) to get up restaurant entrance, however there is a ramp to the left of the restaurant for wheelchairs/ mobility hindered/prams etc., and the staff were happy to help utilise this.Would definitely eat here again if staying at the hotel or in the area.

Poor décor and seating with no atmosphere but the staff are friendly and helpful. Not a bar to unwind in.

The hotel is very conveniently located if you are visiting Old Trafford. We wanted to grab quick lunch at the bar before going for the tour but we literally had to chase the waitress to get our order. It took them more than 20 minutes to make simple sandwiches! Very poor food and overpriced - most basic sandwiches that start at 7 pounds.

We ate here and found the service and food top quality no complaints.If you can get a seat beside the window at the canal side it gives and extra ambience to your meal.

staff are fab but don't trust you full stop, meal was very poor, when I finished I was subjected to security check upon leaving, very poor considering I spent over £55 on a meal

They will prepare your food how you like it, no fuss. breakfast is always very well presented with a varied choice.

The menu lacked choices, we ended up having starters with add ons which were tasty. The carvery and salad bar were not inviting but the staff were friendly and efficiant.

Staff were excellent. Food was super and the 3 course, 3 roast carvery would be very hard to beat. Great value for money!

Bar staff are very good - restaurant reported as not that brilliant - I chose to eat at local facilities

Poor service and not value for money; waited ages for the food to come and when it did they were small portions, house wine at £18.50 a bottle, I know the hotel has to make a profit but surely they have to look after their customers.

Good choice of food, well cooked and presented. Food was freshly cooked but the wait for it was not unacceptably long. Comprehensive wine list at usual hotel prices.

fantastic food very nice we had the steak that was on offer both eat and drinks less that £40.atmosphere was welcoming and staff were great.

Das Restaurant liegt im Copthorn Hotel und ist ein klassisches Hotelrestaurant. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam - teilweise fast zu aufmerksam. Das Essen wurde jedoch erst nach langer Zeit ( über 30 min ) gebracht und war durchschnittlich. Es gab ein 3 Gänge Menue als Angebot aber ohne Highlights. Das Preisniveau ist eher hoch.Man sollte lieber ausserhalb des Hotels essen - die Bequemlichkeit hatte jedoch an diesem Abend gesiegt - es gibt nicht wirklich etwas in Laufweite.

Terrible steak - only dared to eat there once in 11 nights

Breakfast did not have the variety I expected from a buffet. Dinner was pleasant.

Visted this restaurant with a living social deal voucher. The waiter was absolutely charming and friendly but very very slow. The food was poor quality and very cold. Could notwait to gt out. I was unable to understand why the service was so slow as it was almost empty - I will not returnandmy aevice is spend your hard earned money elsewhere!!!!!

decent food choice, good service and a reasonable selection of drinks plus big screen premier league football - doubt you'd get in if Man Utd at home!
