This is a dog friendly hotel used by many blind people. The hotel and service is very nice with beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Ideal for all except those who may feel uncomfortable with dogs in the restaurant. Despite this we enjoyed our stay.

This is a really lovely hotel! We loved it! Only stayed a night. We tend to stick to a mid budget hotel, but we were left feeling so pleasently surprised! I'm allergic to dogs, ( but love them!) and didn't realise the hotel caterers for the visually impaired! It was great to see the dogs & with permission approach them! I'd never been some where like this? But for those who can see, the gardens were so lovely, and it's clear they are working hard to maintain and keep it up. But as I wandered around and slept in the room ( with my mild asthma) I could breath so easily! I wouldn't have know dogs we're around! Hence it is cleaned, or I would have felt it. The bed was super super comfortable, & heaven, & to be honest, we're got the better nights sleep here than the other place we stayed on this trip! Wish I could have bought it for home! The room spacious, clean and with clear windows we could open for fresh air! Shower and bath fine. Hot water fine. Staff welcoming, and hard working, but I encourage you To keep it up! Breakfast was adequate, but not great, did feel staff needed more help somewhere here? As things run out easy, and you have to request certain types of cooked eggs? Waiter/waitress very helpful & always hardworking. Liked not having tablecloths, it's easier to clean, and less washing up for them. Building / rooms inside a little tired, defo needs a revamp, but generally clean, and in order. Already thinking of next trip! Thank you!

Great hotel. Beautiful gardens. So near to the sea and the local Train station. Friendly professional staff. Room we had was functional. Perhaps a little too functional.

We went to the Cliffden hotel just for a little break away. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we were treated exceptionally well. The staff are very friendly and courteous and make the effort to make your stay special. We liked it so much we extended our time there. It is so relaxing, with beautiful gardens and a pool. The meals were very tasty, and an impeccable service made it even better. Well done Cliffden and staff. Keep up the good work.

Hotel staff all very friendly and helpful. Our room was disappointing. It was tired looking, there was mould in the bathroom, the floor was not all that clean, and the room was in a noisy corridor. We had disturbed nights. The dining area needed a good clean too. The grounds were lovely with nice views. The location of the hotel was quite a walk for good restaurants , cafes and bars.

Currently staying at the Cliffden ( not our first time here) and, as usual, i have to say, that everyone who works here are the kindest, nicest, most helpful people you could wish to find. And they love dogs!

This Hotel is a lovely place to stay in Teignmouth. There is a good sea view from the terrace. Spacious, and caters for people with sight disability . Evening meals are served in the sun room and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a buffet. Not much vegetarian hot choice unfortunately. You do have to get everything yourself. So if you have mobility issues this could be difficult. Especially in the morning. The gardens here are wonderful and well looked after. Nice to sit and read a book. There is a swimming pool indoors which seemed popular. Some nice old features in this hotel. Just a few more seats around the hotel to sit on and less sofa's would be good. This is a nice place and good value. Would definitely go back.

Nice place to stay - slightly dated but has a nice homely feel - pleasant and helpful staff. They do allow dogs ... not good for me, especially when they are left in their room and bark at anyone going by in the corridor. All in all, a very pleasant stay, nice gardens and views too.

A sizeable hotel set in lovely gardens with an area for dogs to exercise. The staff are very friendly and willing to help. The pool was unavailable for maintenance when we stayed. The breakfast area and bar areas were comfortable and the views over the gardens beautiful. The room we had overlooked the road, the window was poorly maintained and had gaps. It made the room noisy from traffic. The mattress was old and lumpy, it should have been replaced. The bathroom was a little dated and needed updating. The shower gel and shampoo was still in single use plastics and should be in dispensers as this is now common practice in most hotels. The hot water was brown even after running for some time, something we have not come across since staying in Uganda and only then because the hot water was heated in an old rusty oil drum. This put me off having a shower because this should not feel like a small hut at the edge of the rainforest. Overall the place was good value, but maintenance falls short of expectations. Lots of potential to improve the actual rooms and make it a great hotel.

Lovely old hotel, great location, decent breakfast in the morning, staff lovely, good value for money. Beautifully decorated for Christmas when we went. Hotel looks a bit tired stunning grounds, but most of them off limits including the pool. Bed was two doubles pushed together, which I'm not a fan of. Lots of other guests had their dogs in the dining room which was also something that was off-putting.

Friendly village pub. Stayed for a couple of nights. Room was a bit tired and damp. If you are on business and want to have breakfast you will probably be out of luck as it is served between 9-10am. Good selection of ales and cider. Everything just a bit sticky.
