Fabulous hotel, some of the rooms have been renewed and amazing views from our room over the garden and down to the sea. The hotel is situated only a 15/20min walk from the coast and set within beautiful gardens.

Very good location if you have a dog with large grounds that lead down onto the beach. The club rooms are slightly smaller than the advertised photos. Good for what you pay for.

This is a beautiful place to stay. The room was very comfortable and the hotel has a cosy but traditional classic feel. The food and drink excellent and the staff were brilliant. I’d absolutely stay here again and enjoy the heritage of this grand old hotel as opposed some of the soulless chain hotels. The views from the grounds are absolutely stunning with a nice short walk down to the town

On my recent stay there was an unpleasant incident regarding one of the other guests. The receptionist was very supportive but the manager handled it disappointingly badly. His answer was essentially to either to spend rest of holiday trying to avoid the individual in question ( which is ridiculous as I have health/ balance issues and would've meant not using lift, let alone not going, in gardens, and it being impossible to know when/ if it was ok to use restaurant etc, let alone the upset the incident caused me), or to go home. So really I had no alternative than to forfeit holiday and cost of holiday and go home after one day of a planned 7 day stay. I'd been unwell and had been looking forward to this small holiday all year, as enjoyed last year's. The receptionist told me these incidents with this individual in question were something that kept happening and she was uncomfortable around this person too, with her saying to me that the manager needed to speak to this person as there was a lot of young staff. Instead, the manager talked to me like I was a silly woman and seemed to write it off as a harmless accident, which it definitely wasn't. Very upsetting, obviously I'll never be going there again And incidentally, no one helps with luggage even though I have to walk with stick, it was left to the other kind guests to help me.

This is a dog friendly hotel used by many blind people. The hotel and service is very nice with beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Ideal for all except those who may feel uncomfortable with dogs in the restaurant. Despite this we enjoyed our stay.

This is a really lovely hotel! We loved it! Only stayed a night. We tend to stick to a mid budget hotel, but we were left feeling so pleasently surprised! I'm allergic to dogs, ( but love them!) and didn't realise the hotel caterers for the visually impaired! It was great to see the dogs & with permission approach them! I'd never been some where like this? But for those who can see, the gardens were so lovely, and it's clear they are working hard to maintain and keep it up. But as I wandered around and slept in the room ( with my mild asthma) I could breath so easily! I wouldn't have know dogs we're around! Hence it is cleaned, or I would have felt it. The bed was super super comfortable, & heaven, & to be honest, we're got the better nights sleep here than the other place we stayed on this trip! Wish I could have bought it for home! The room spacious, clean and with clear windows we could open for fresh air! Shower and bath fine. Hot water fine. Staff welcoming, and hard working, but I encourage you To keep it up! Breakfast was adequate, but not great, did feel staff needed more help somewhere here? As things run out easy, and you have to request certain types of cooked eggs? Waiter/waitress very helpful & always hardworking. Liked not having tablecloths, it's easier to clean, and less washing up for them. Building / rooms inside a little tired, defo needs a revamp, but generally clean, and in order. Already thinking of next trip! Thank you!

Great hotel. Beautiful gardens. So near to the sea and the local Train station. Friendly professional staff. Room we had was functional. Perhaps a little too functional.

We went to the Cliffden hotel just for a little break away. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we were treated exceptionally well. The staff are very friendly and courteous and make the effort to make your stay special. We liked it so much we extended our time there. It is so relaxing, with beautiful gardens and a pool. The meals were very tasty, and an impeccable service made it even better. Well done Cliffden and staff. Keep up the good work.

Hotel staff all very friendly and helpful. Our room was disappointing. It was tired looking, there was mould in the bathroom, the floor was not all that clean, and the room was in a noisy corridor. We had disturbed nights. The dining area needed a good clean too. The grounds were lovely with nice views. The location of the hotel was quite a walk for good restaurants , cafes and bars.

Currently staying at the Cliffden ( not our first time here) and, as usual, i have to say, that everyone who works here are the kindest, nicest, most helpful people you could wish to find. And they love dogs!

This Hotel is a lovely place to stay in Teignmouth. There is a good sea view from the terrace. Spacious, and caters for people with sight disability . Evening meals are served in the sun room and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a buffet. Not much vegetarian hot choice unfortunately. You do have to get everything yourself. So if you have mobility issues this could be difficult. Especially in the morning. The gardens here are wonderful and well looked after. Nice to sit and read a book. There is a swimming pool indoors which seemed popular. Some nice old features in this hotel. Just a few more seats around the hotel to sit on and less sofa's would be good. This is a nice place and good value. Would definitely go back.

Nice place to stay - slightly dated but has a nice homely feel - pleasant and helpful staff. They do allow dogs ... not good for me, especially when they are left in their room and bark at anyone going by in the corridor. All in all, a very pleasant stay, nice gardens and views too.

A sizeable hotel set in lovely gardens with an area for dogs to exercise. The staff are very friendly and willing to help. The pool was unavailable for maintenance when we stayed. The breakfast area and bar areas were comfortable and the views over the gardens beautiful. The room we had overlooked the road, the window was poorly maintained and had gaps. It made the room noisy from traffic. The mattress was old and lumpy, it should have been replaced. The bathroom was a little dated and needed updating. The shower gel and shampoo was still in single use plastics and should be in dispensers as this is now common practice in most hotels. The hot water was brown even after running for some time, something we have not come across since staying in Uganda and only then because the hot water was heated in an old rusty oil drum. This put me off having a shower because this should not feel like a small hut at the edge of the rainforest. Overall the place was good value, but maintenance falls short of expectations. Lots of potential to improve the actual rooms and make it a great hotel.

Lovely old hotel, great location, decent breakfast in the morning, staff lovely, good value for money. Beautifully decorated for Christmas when we went. Hotel looks a bit tired stunning grounds, but most of them off limits including the pool. Bed was two doubles pushed together, which I'm not a fan of. Lots of other guests had their dogs in the dining room which was also something that was off-putting.

Ordered from here Sunday night. Was told an hour wait. 2 and a half hours later delivery guy finally turned up but with the wrong food, had apparently given our order to someone else and would go back to the store and get them to cook the order again. We rang the store to ask to just cancel the order and refund us as we had already been waiting for so long and was going to order from somewhere else. Store refused to cancel order then eventually agreed to a refund as it was them who packaged up the food incorrectly causing the wrong delivery. They said they would refund us but 2 days later we still haven't received anything. Food eventually arrived 3 hours 40 minutes after order time! Would not recommend and definitely won't be returning.

Popped in as I was passing. I haven't been in here for about 18 months or so. The general layout seems to have changed a bit. The cafe looked clean, bright and airy very few customers in. Staff were friendly and polite. I ordered a coffee and bacon sandwich. I'm not sure what strength the coffee is but it was unbearably weak. My bacon sandwich arrived with the sandwich placed on top of the napkin.....why? This only serves to make the napkin greasy. I wish cafes would stop doing this! I don't think the bacon was grilled, as it was quite tough.. Sorry Knotts deli I'm off to Orsinos next time I'm in town.

The place wasn’t as clean as one would hope to find it, and the food on both visits was utterly awful: tasteless, overpriced, very clearly microwaved, haphazard, thoughtless etc etc. A bacon bap or sausage roll from Spar is significantly more tasty, filling and worthwhile.

Decided to go for a Sunday breakfast, the place is nice inside and good atmosphere but the main breakfasts are very overpriced. I had the main breakfast and at the counter while ordering I asked if I could have an extra hash brown instead of tomato which she said was fine. The breakfast arrived with no hash browns but EXTRA tomato’s !! I went to tell them the mistake and another plate arrived with one hash brown and a slice of sourdough toast?. The sourdough toast was rock hard , the fried eggs were undercooked and the portion size was not worth the £15. Just disappointing to be honest.

Been here multiple times and always had good food and a warm reception. Everyone is always really helpful and friendly but a big thanks to Ronan for making us feel well looked after.
