I come in here every few weeks when I have to visit the area. I usually have an americano but today I had a flat white which was exceptionally good - super tasty but also a lovely consistency and at just the right temperature. This place definitely does the best coffee in the area and the staff are really friendly plus have a nice loo.

Lovely coffee shop with friendly staff. I think the theme is genuine - old surveyor's office with original artefacts decorating the place. Coffee was great as was the service.

A very friendly place to chat with friends whilst eating great sourdough and pastries. My wife is in there every Friday morning with her "Osidge mums" and occasionally brings me back a Holtwhite pastel de nata - which is fabulous!

I've been coming in here quite regularly recently and each time I have had a great quality coffee including for the first time a cortado today. The staff here are very friendly.

I haven't been here for a coffee for many months due to lockdown. I had a small white coffee with hot milk which was excellent and reasonably priced. It was also pleasant to sit outside on their front patio.

I haven't been here for a few months but am pleased to report that their coffee is still as good as ever.

I'm a regular here and I still love this charming little coffee shop in Southgate. There must be a lot of coffee drinkers in the area, as there's plenty of competition, but nothing beats this one for me. The staff are always lovely and friendly. They serve alcohol too and there's live music on Thursdays, making it much more than your're average coffee bar.

I come in here occasionally although I do not live locally. My flat white was very tasty and carefully made. It is a very relaxing place to sit for a while.

I was in the area again so popped into this great little cafe for an excellent americano whilst sitting listening to chilled music and using their free internet screens and I noticed that the very reasonable charge for an americano does not increase with size. How good is that!

The coffee’s great. Bar looks really good and it has really pleasant staff. The atmosphere is amazing here.

I love this tiny little coffee and snack bar. They say the food is handmade and it looks that way. Don't expect a big meal, but soups, breads, croissants and sweet treats. Teas and coffees are lovely and they serve alcohol too. Open until 7 pm on weekdays, once each month they stay open until 10 pm for a jazz evening with live music. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. It's not cheap, but no more expensive than the big brand coffee shops: much nicer though.

Just literally 20 seconds from the tube station. Very warm and cosy. Lots of delights to savour and a great cup of coffee. Staff were polite and efficient. Service excellent.

I have not been to Southgate for a few years and there seems to be lots of new cafes including this one which is a specialist coffee shop and bar. It is very nicely decorated and comfortable. My coffee was excellent quality, served at the correct temperature and very tasty.

lovely chilled atmosphere, flat white very good - and loyaty card incentive to sip more over lenghty visits... people tend to stick around for a while, wot with free papers and wifi .... - and loyalty card incentive to sip more - staff friendly and helpful - decor witty .... check out the mural if drinking outside of visitng the loo..... and invoices from way back from the original Claude Dennis under glasstop tables ... ... so refreshing not to be sitting in cloned corporate brand bolthole..proud to be a regular . solo pianists add extra touch on late nights.... great alone ior for meets....should open later and on sundays...

This is a place with soul and charm. I've only been in to get take away coffees and pastries but really like the interior. The pastries and coffees are both excellent but quite expensive. Seem to have a problem with retaining staff or they just have lot of different staff. Good place for a business meeting as well as a coffee with a friend.

I love everything about this cafe. The design of it is lovely and really cosy - they even have a gorgeous fire in the winter. Love the music they play too. The sandwiches, soups and cakes are delicious, and the coffee’s the best I’ve ever had. Such lovely staff too, and I really like supporting an independent coffee shop.

This incredibly friendly and quirky artisan crafted coffee shop is a surprise in the suburban hinterland of Southgate. It's worth going to see the Claud Dennis memorabilia alone and the lovely attentive staff. But it's the coffee that shines through, the best for miles. Thanks Franco!

The Coffee shop is nice , the coffee is strong and I really enjoyed it. Maybe is the best quality of coffee in the area .Thats why is a bit more expensive then Costa and Nero lets say.

Familiar, cafetería independiente, que realmente brilla en la calle principal de Southgate. Ofreciendo productos frescos, productos horneados, además de café y abrir por las noches y alcohol con el Jazz los jueves. Visited for the first time today. Lovely interior and welcome (in this extreme heat) cool outdoor area at the back. Great coffee and good choice of rolls and cakes etc.. Spotlessly clean and outstanding customer service. I shall look forward to returning.

So happy Franco is back and doing great. You are transported to some other dimension by decor and a great choice of music. Coffee is great, staff are always friendly so you can drink, read or chat with friends unhindered by any distraction.

Un fantástico café y bar de zumos. Tan contentos están de vuelta abierta después de varios meses. Tienen dos grandes zonas de estar fuera, lo cual es especialmente bienvenida durante los meses de verano. También intentó su batido de malibu que es esencialmente una piña colada, que es muy sabrosa.

Esta cafetería ha sido recientemente reformado. El archifamoso Claud Dennis fue un antiguo Inspector y su Lanchita echada es una característica en una de las paredes.

This is a little treasure in Southgate. The service is really friendly and the coffee is just amazing. You could taste a variety of sandwiches. Yummyyyyy :) I recommend for sure to visit it any Thursday evening for the cosy jazz night.

Nicely presented coffee shop with friendly staff. Not cheap and expect a wait as everything is prepared fresh. An added bonus is to find the two rabbits in the garden! Worth a trip just for that! Overall, a lovely place for a coffee, recommended.

Lovely place. Charming indoors, lots of vintage stuff without being overtly hipster. Coffee excellent, staff very polite, sweet covered garden with rabbits in a hutch and somewhere to smoke when the weather's bad.

I had a driving licence exam today in Southgate, I didnt know this place but due to cold weather I've just stopped and had a soup.IT's really very nice place, fast serving, very tasty soup.Moreover, the music was awsome, playing great blues songs.

Good coffee. Which I've learnt is quite hard to find in London. Not much on the menu food wise but if you're just after a coffee, or maybe a cake or slice to go with it then you've found the right place.

I love this place. Southgate has some great cafes but this is by far my favourite. The staff are friendly, the decor is gorgeous and unique and the music is brilliant (jazz, often with a modern twist of covers of current pop songs.) There's a lovely garden out back where they have a hutch for two adorable rabbits. The food is brilliant. The paninis are really tasty and superior to those you'd get in Costa/Starbucks - and I love those ones, so that's saying a lot. The cakes and baked goods are delicious. So far I've tried the carrot cake, the apple cake, the salted caramel brownie and the flapjack. All amazing and they taste very homemade. The coffee is consistently fabratuc. I'm so glad I discovered this gem. Even when I no longer work in Southgate one day, I know I'll keep coming back especially for this.

Almost next to Southgate underground station, this is one of the quickest cafes ever! Lots of memorabilia from its previous existence as a surveyors office, in the small courtyard on the way to the toilet are the two black and white rabbits in a hutch! Something you don't see every day. My wife and I only had coffee, but it was heavenly, and the service was excellent! 10 out of 10

I went to Claud W. Dennis for the first time with my family for a quick breakfast before going out for the day.The coffee is very good, and the decoration is cool, but there are very limited options for breakfast - there is either sweet treats or prepackaged sandwiches which is a little sad in a locally owned café. There may have been the possibility of having some toast but they didn't have enough bread, and even refused my offer of running over to the local supermarket to buy some, so we went hungry.There is also no way to get any juice that wasn't pre-packaged (Ribena etc.) which was also a little disappointing.I would say it's good for coffee, but not for much else unfortunately.

I go here every 2 weeks or so and the standard is always good .the coffee is cheaper and better than all of the big chains and everywhere else as well .The place is nice inside, there is a terrace in front and a small garden at the back . I always feel comfortable there.i must agree with the other reviewer about the salted caramel brownie being delicious and the regular brownies are delicious too. If i am being meticulous I would say that the staff could be a bit happier in there work but that is a minor detail .i will be a regular customer here for the foreseeable future

I have walked past this coffee shop so many time but today I decided to go inside. I discovered a quaint, little coffee shop (about 6 little tables inside, and two raised stall benches) with a good section of drinks and food on offer. To be honest from the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you go inside you find the place to be welcoming. The first thing you notice is the music, old school jazz and other music for that era - toe tapping stuff. Then the decoration, which is vintage and has many artefacts from the original Claud W Dennis business (valuers/auctioneers of property in the 30s-40s or there about). There's also a quirk of modern tech - a bench of iPads and plenty of power points to use. I had too coffees, both were great; the apple cake was also very good. I sat and read a book for a couple of hours, lost in the atmosphere and calm despite being on Southgate high street next to the tube station.My new favourite coffee shop, shall definitely be going back.

This is my local independent coffee shop, it's fantastic and authentic. I love the history of this place and it's evident throughout. The cakes, soups and sandwiches are delicious and a lot of thought and effort has gone into sourcing excellent suppliers.It is located right by the tube station however you would never know once inside or sitting in the cosy courtyard at the rear of the shop. The heated covered terrace at the front allows for watching the world go by.Staff are well trained and very friendly.Ps they also have a drinks licence (hubby says their reds are very good ;)

New to the area and SO glad I found this little place. Awesome vintage/jazz music playing, great atmosphere and friendly service. Also the perfect place to do work. I am currently enjoying the most delicious brownie (salted caramel) I have ever eaten in my life!They will be seeing much more of me!
