Curry night didn’t disappoint. Was here with another couple. Everything was amazing. The other gentleman in our company said best cheesecake he has ever tasted. If you haven’t been to their curry nights you are really missing out. Would give it a 12 out of 10

Unfortunately I won’t be returning after ordering the roast beef dinner. It was so chewy it was almost impossible to eat! On paying I realised that I was overpriced so I had to clarify my order for them to realise I was also paying for another meal which I didn’t order! Two young staff serving and cooking clearly had a hangover to get the bill wrong and the food was not good enough at all for the price we paid. Very disappointed.

As we had a look at the clatterin menu we decided to go for breakfast option as it looked appealing, we were quite late due to traffic and got there 30 mins into lunch service. The place was fairly full and thought trying breakfast would have to be done another day as we were a table of 7 , but the chef was very kind enough to make breakfast for us all , we were ecstatic and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast or brunch should I say . We were very full by the time we finished and had no space for cakes or coffee which will have to be done another try. Would highly recommend the place

I recently dined at the Clatterin Brig. This was a first time visit for me as it had been recommended by a friend. I decided to have the Teacup lunch (great value for money btw) which included a sandwich and their signature cullen skink! Both of which were delicious. We were seated by a lovely lad (I can't remember his name unfortunately) who continued to check up on us making sure everything was alright (it absolutely was) he made us laugh every time he came to our table and made the experience even more delightful. Our drinks were brought to us by another lad (who I think I seen making them drinks himself) he served us with a smile and made us feel very welcome and at home. I will definitely be going back to the Clatterin Brig and would recommend it to anyone looking for a warm and friendly environment with delicious and filling food

We have been past this place many times and should have stopped long ago,This time we did and it was wonderful. We had a table outside as it was hot and sunny. We only wanted coffee and cake which they had a lovely selection including Gluten Free for my wife. They have an extensive menu to suit all tastes including main meals with chips. They are a always busy as nowhere else on this road for refreshments and toilets. The service was quick and the lady cheerful and chatty. There are two car parks, upper and lower both flat.Clean toilets and disabled access. There are at times road closures around the cafe but this is not their fault. We will definitely stop again.

After a nice round of golf at the Auchenblae golf course we went for a light lunch to this, as appeared, a real gem of a restaurant. The landlady and al the staff were friendly and, as we found out the Chef is also Dutch as our group! The dishes we chose were all very tastefull and nice presented. A good try was the speciality soup Skink, a kind of fishsoup of which smoked haddock is the base. But it is also the story behind it that makes it special! Anyway the visit to this place was a perfect end of the (golf) day! Wish we had a place like this where we live, Middelburg/Holland!

Ordered a variety of drinks and snacks / meals all arrived quickly and were all perfect. Despite calling in advance to book two hours before, when we arrived we were informed there was a reduced menu - this absolutely should of been mentioned when I called. The reduced menu was a handwritten jotter page with around 8 very basic choices, jacket potato's, soup and sandwiches, fish and chips etc - but no prices. Two very uninspiring jacket potato's and a kids mac and cheese later, with a tea, lemonade and takeaway coffee came to £38! Staff seemed inexperienced and smoking/vaping in the car park outside the kitchen door both on arrival and leaving. Used to love coming here when the previous owners had it, it's a beautiful location, so but we won't be back.

Food was very nice but midway through the meal felt I needed a soft drink, as found it a little salty. The woman told me of course, she'd just be over with it. Proceeded to wait 15 minutes and no drink appeared, so went back to query and was abruptly told they would "get around to you!" As they had to serve all the coffees ahead of us. I appreciate prioritising customers in order but felt rather odd not being able to run out a can of soft drink to two customers who had been seated for a significant amount of time, given making lattes and cappuccinos can be time consuming and we were in the middle of their meal. We would come back, would just be mindful of the service.

Great to have this place open again. Brilliant location with an “away from it all” feel. Very welcoming and attentive staff throughout our visit. Fine “fancy pieces” to accompany a morning/afternoon cup of coffee/tea. After our morning coffee and having then taken a walk, we returned to have lunch. A big range of options and combinations of fresh and tasty food. And by now the restaurant was very cosy with the wood burning stove/fire looking and feeling good. And it was busy with almost all tables occupied - so maybe best to book a table to be sure of a seat. Outdoor seating also available for warmer/ dry days. Easy parking; an upper car park and a lower car park.

Very disappointed after travelling more than an hour & a half it was 2:30pm to be turned away at the door because you were no longer serving lunch during the week as it was quiet only teas & cakes . The restaurant was busy and a lot of staff on so surely you would be happy to serve two people lunch . It doesn’t state this anywhere on your website or FB page that this has changed . I would think with the way things are currently I would probably try and grab all the business you possibly can !!!! It’s a long old winter

I hate leaving review normally, but after visiting last Saturday was so disappointed. Firstly it was a cold day in and out, heating would have done something to warm the cold sterile environment. Large arrows, not unlike a runway were marked down the centre of space restaurant. being cold I ordered a hot chocolate , it arrived so cold the marshmallow didn't melt , while waiting to have it heated I tacked my cold hard scone with one butter for both sides., Choc came back only slightly warmer my marshmallows never did melt. Then the spraying of tables stated it clawed at my throat and started my eyes running . We left quickly after that never to return . The young female waitress was friendly ... only wish a friendly owner had come to apologies for the cold Hot choc

I had the steak and pepper sauce baguette...the beef was chewy and the baguette was black had to leave half the baguette. Lovely setting especially because the Burn was full and made the view more spectacular plus we were expecting sandwiches, scones and cakes but we we had Lovely Surprise when we saw they did 'Sunday Lunch', my fav meal of the week, so we had Roast Beef. The Sunday Lunch was gorgeous and with the lovely staff it was a 'no brainer' that this was the spot. I used to pass this building many times years ago and always liked its unique "remote" location and position up on the hill. I always thought it was derelict but was pleased recently to see it was operating as a restaurant. We made a wee detour for a snack lunch one Sunday and were pleasantly surprised.TWe were seated quickly and out order taken by a young but very polite and efficient waitress. The main restaurant has a wall to wall window at one side looking out onto the hills which were in autumn colours and a great view to dine to.My choice of Cullen Skink and a sandwich arrived without much of a wait. The soup was excellent, full of flavour and creamy and the sandwich came with a small side salad. The menu had a good selection of old favourites and looking around at other meals looked well prepared and good portions. If you're in the area, take a wee detour, it's worth it.

Hidden away between Laurencekirk and Auchenblae, perfectly tucked away. Visited before Christmas and cannot fault the service. Food was great too - all Christmas themed and freshly made.

Our party of 4 booked a table for breakfast this morning at 10 am.. however, we didn’t get it until almost 11! This was mainly due to the fact that someone hadn’t turned up which put pressure on the service. There was only 1 person serving in the whole restaurant. - it’s a large restaurant, this is mad! Anyhow, we were disappointed to note that there were no side plates, awkward trying to spread your toast on a napkin! The tea was served almost immediately which meant that it was cold by the time our meal arrived. As the lady was so over worked we found it hard to get attention for more tea, jam, side plates etc. The meal itself was fine, sausages awful, but everything else was good, no polony as stated on the menu, again disappointing. However, we think we will return once more to give them the benefit of the doubt. This may have been a one-off. Watch this space!

After driving over Cairn O'Mount it was so nice to come across the Clatterin Brig. We stopped in the food and it drinks, food was delicious, and the teas and coffee where fab, I have to say the Cullen Skink was just amazing. Staff were so friendly too, not to pricey, and liads of history about the place to absorb too. Would definitely recommend a visit, hopefully we will visit again too. ❤

Lovely little cafe, run by volunteers. We went in for a light bite. They have a gluten free selection, which is ideal as Mrs B is coeliac. Tea came in a real tea pot 😊 Food was really tasty and reasonably priced, service very friendly. I thoroughly recommend dropping in.

A wonderful lunch we did not plan the visit and they were able to accommodate us. A great choice was available to meet a variety of needs. We opted for the fritters (black pudding and haggis) as a starter to share. This was delightful. The main courses were equally good with mother in law having beef lasagne whilst the Hunters chicken beckoned me. Well worth a trip

We are now regulars at the Seafield Arms as it is so good. It was my birthday and where else would we go for a special meal. This time, we tried the surf and turf block. We were not disappointed as the seafood and steak were cooked to perfection. As well as the fresh local vegatable selection. The hotel manager had to get up at 4am to get the lobster. That is dedication to perfection. Our friend had a sirloin steak, cooked to her satisfaction. Our daughter had the mac and cheese and was more than happy. The girls finished the meal with sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee. Yum Yum. The service was professional and very friendly. We have a concern, what will we have to eat the next time as it is all so good.

This venue has sadly burnt down. However we stayed at the Braemar Lodge Cabins and they were absolutely 5 star
