I have been going to Clarets at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, (he is the last Scotsman to win the Open Golf Championship in 1999), for some time now. We go as a group with others coming along as well. The menu is great for lunches or a bite to eat in the afternoon. The Coffee Shop is run my Paul's wife, Marion and Paul will pop in by when he is not playing Golf. The decor is great and coffee shop has recently had a make over and has great views across the River Dee to Cults. You can also see across the nine hole course. The breakfast menu is a meal on it's own though there are other choices. The baking is superb and there is plenty to choose from. The staff are very pleasant and which helps a great deal. Well worth a visit if you are a golfer as the Coffee Shop is through the well stocked Golf Shop You can't miss it as it is well signed posted about two miles along the South Deeside Road from the Stonehaven Roundabout.

After the driving range we took the grand children here for a snack lunch. Despite being quite busy with non golfers and golfers the service was very prompt and attentive. The staff seemed as happy as the guests who were not too noisy as they were all enjoying their food. We skipped the soups and went for the sandwiches and triple decker. Yum! However, the gateaux and fancy pieces were to die for. We even got more icing on the cake with a hello from Paul Lawrie. Sam Locke next time?

A lovely treat for everything to be just right, service, food quality and timeliness of order delivery and friendliness and attitude of the staff, we were so impressed and grateful as so many places are ultimately a let down somehow!! 15 out of 10 for this place, shame we live 68 miles away!!

Enjoyed our soup & sandwich lunch in this bright and airy cafe with beautiful views across the golf course and the River Dee. As we were both having cheese in our sandwiches, we opted for pea & ham soup, over the alternative of broccoli & stilton. Sandwiches were generously filled with slices of cheese & ham and also brie & cranberry, both were very tasty and the salad garnish was fresh & crunchy. Couldn't resist the tempting cakes and some lemon & coconut slice and a malteser tray bake competed a very nice meal.

We needed a light lunch, in a hurry, so decided to try Clarets which is quite near our home. The cafe is bright, clean, has lovely views and very friendly efficient staff. Our lunch was well presented, fresh, and delicious. As I looked around I saw happy people enjoying their meals. The lunch was very good value, I know we will make a habit of visiting Clarets whenever we need a delicious lunch or coffee and cake.

Go here often to hit a few balls with my son. Being a foodie I often try out the cafe. What a change since Marion and team took over. Her staff are brilliant and attentive. Think they have a policy of customer first. Home bakes scrumptious and the soups excellent. Only minutes from Aberdeen. Ample parking and disabled access. You won't be disappointed it's worth a five star. Well done Marion and team

After hitting a few golf balls we built up an appetite. Clarets is in a lovely setting with service and food to match. The 4 of us really enjoyed the food. My soup and sandwich combo was first class. Brie and cranberry sandwiches - brilliant. The tray bakes? Not a crumb left on any plate! Reasonably priced as were the coffees, but they were unreasonably good. Lot of space between the tables. Can get a bit noisy when busy, as elsewhere. All in all, very good value.

On a very wet day we were recommended to come here and were not disappointed. Warm and friendly welcome, excellent service and delicious lunch. Akira and Carol both attended to little details without asking - ie Carol serving an extra large portion of chips when I declined other veg that were on the menu (brother in law pleased to help me out!) and Akira giving my sister a takeaway box as she couldn't manage the whole of her panini. Brillliant. I live in Devon so may not be passing through again but would wholeheartedly recommend visiting.

Visited here for Sunday "carvery" whilst staying onsite. Service was excellent by all staff members, however we were expecting a carvery where you help yourself to a selection of roast meats and veg. This wasn't the case it was just a regular Sunday roast prepared in the kitchen and served at your table. The roast itself was very average, the only veg being peas and carrots along with cheap tasting pigs in blankets. This was priced at around £21 pp for 2 courses,I think it was done as cheap as possible. Although the food tasted absolutely fine it was by no means anything other than average and definitely not a carvery.

This place is a wee gem! A phenomenal selection of whiskies, a very tasty sharing platter, all served by friendly staff who love to share funny stories. A few locals were in who also love a blether. Lovely seating area outside too. Only open Friday to Sunday at present.
