Cinnamon in Dundee City

IS THERE A NEW CHEF?? I got a delivery, food was cold, vegetable sauce for Biryani was pathetic, only peas and a sliver of potato was disgusting and Peshwari naan thick and freezing. Meal was a disgrace! Whats happened??????????

Great food served here. Good selection of curries to choose from. Staff is great and looks after all diner's. Well worth a visit to try the food here.

Nice people but very disappointed was recommended from a friend although she hadn't ordered from here in a while. Only way to describe the food was disgusting !! The bhuna looked like dirty dish water and had no taste at all my partner had a madras it was tastless but spicy. The pakoras were tastless chips were like frozen French fries out a freezer shop. What a waste of money !!

Unbelievably good Indian food. Peshwari naan side cooked to perfection. Prices reasonable. Service very friendly. Restaurant environment needs some updating but so glad we tried this place. Our new choice for Indian food in Dundee.

Tried the takeaway from here and had the tandoori mixed grill. Wow. Great portion size and what a flavour!!!! Definitely recommended!

Lovely staff but sadly the Vegetable Thali just didn't cut it. The three supposedly " different," little curries all seemed have the same mushy sauce with little seasoning. It was all very bland. I also wonder if Cobra lager is just getting weaker and weaker or if it was somehow watered down.

This was a great find on our trip to Dundee. It is tiny and it does look like someone's front room but the food and service were amazing. Loads to choose from on menu and portions were a good size. The spiced onions were amazing!!! Definitely worth a visit if in the area

The restaurant is a small windowless room, but the service was helpful, and attentive. All of us enjoyed our curries and would go back again.

Carry out meal, just awful. Used to go to this place a lot...never again. Feel terrible leaving this review but have to be honest. Meal went in the bin and ordered a pizza.!!!

My driving job takes me many places around the UK and tonight I'm in Dundee, after looking some reviews of places to eat I decided to try Cinnamon as I really fancied an Indian, To be Honest from the outside it doesn't look great and needs redecorating inside but that's where the bad points finish, the you guy that served me was very friendly and efficient, the food, Chef's Balti Special was absolutely delicious, Well in my top 3 Balti Dishes I've had around the UK in the the last 15 years, If you live in Dundee then you truly have a Great Indian Restaurant, Well worth a visit if you ever stay in Dundee.

5 course dinner deal for £20 for 2 was awesome. There was 6 of us and we loved it. Food was lovely as was the service can't wait to go back. I highly recommend going here. xxx

Had a takeaway-both veg curry's were great and large portions. 👍- Veg pakoras on the other hand were like small dry meatballs...over cooked and small portion. Pakora sauce watered down. Wouldn't buy again. Nan fine. Would go back for their curry though.

I have been going to the Cinnamon and getting deliveries from them for many years and always enjoyed their fantastic curries until now... I got a delivery for my friend and myself on the 14/5/23 and the meals were not up to their usual standard, my friend ordered a Bhuna mild and got a Bhuna with coconut in it and she hates coconuts, I ordered my usual Chicken Biryani, the biryani was great as usual but NOT the vegetable curry sauce as the only vegetables in it were peas, I also ordered an extra portion of Madras Curry Sauce and it had peas in it and there isn't meant to be. I called to complain and they sent out another Chicken Bhuna which my friend said was great and the Vegetable Curry to go with the Biryani which still had lots of peas and 2 tiny pieces of potato. I am wondering is there a new chef or are the Cinnamon slipping?

Food, service and value for money excellent. Five of us for dinner on Friday night. Very friendly greeting on arrival and this continued throughout service. Great selection of starters and mains. All 5 had different meals and we were all in agreement that the food was great. Environment needs a little sprucing up, but given excellent food, prices and high level of service this paled in significance. Will be returning and would very much recommend.

Always a good curry from cinnamon

We often have a takeaway of a Sunday and this restaurant never disappoints. Today was no exception. I ordered a special biriyani and my wife had chicken jalfrezi. Simply stated, the best Indian food we have eaten in many a year. I seldom leave reviews but feel I have to comment on how delicious our food was. 10 out of 10.

The cinnamon provides proper old school style Indian curries that burst with flavour. I've been going here for years and the food, service and delivery timescales are always consistent and great value.

I got a Chicken Biryani, extra curry sauce and Chapatis Friday 27/5.22 from the Cinnamon Indian restaurant delivered and it was fantastic, delivery quick and everything very fresh and still hot. it is the best Biryani in Dundee. I fully recommend the Cinnamon either sit in or delivery.

First time customer. Beautiful food. Coming back tomorrow to try a different dish 👌

This place is on of the best restaurants in Dundee and all the food was fantastic and the service was quick and nice people and my mates will be going the a couple times a month but it’s a fantastic place to go to 👍👍

Vile and disgusting. Better to eat a dogs vomit than go here. Hence why they don't review on hust eat. Worst curry I've had in my life.

Amazing currys and great service

This has always been my favourite Indian in Dundee but recently their standards have slipped .Portion sizes have always been on the smaller side but could live with that due to the high standard of the curries . Ordered a couple of set meals last night and there was very little meat in any of the curries . Pakoras appear to have been reheated and we’re brick hard . Popadoms were so soft you could bend without breaking . Chips appear to have been reheated too . Shame because they know how to make a nice curry And the staff are lovely :( really disappointed .

Just been for my first sit-in meal since cases began to rise. I was more than a bit nervous, but the lady owner was very kind and reassuring and even brought a a bottle of sanitizer over to the table. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. I had a side dish, sag bhaji, for my starter. It was good enough to stand on its own as a main course (which I might have next time we're up this way). My partner had the shami kebab and described it as excellent. My main was egg pathia. I don't know why more places don't offer egg curries, because they really are good. The pathia was hotter than the one I get at my local Indian but the flavours were really lovely and I polished it off no bother. My partner had the murghi mussaman (probably spelled wrongly here). It was excellent too.

My 2 friends and I went today 4/9/21 we shared 2 starters Vegetable Pakoras and Chicken Pakoras they were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal I had Chicken Biryani extra hot and it was excellent just like it used to be, I give them full marks just for the Biryani alone. One of my friends had a Chicken Tikka Masala and she loved it, my other friend asked for a Chicken Bhuna mild but had to send it back as it was more like a Korma as there was coconut in it, she got a Chicken Tikka Masala instead and she really loved it, she was a bit upset as she did hear the chef angry at it being sent back. however apart from that the meal and the service was exceptional. I took the Biryani I couldn't eat home as it was far too good to waste and my friend took home the leftover sauce from the Tikka Masala, she said the sauce was the best she ever had. Definitely be going back. Thanks to staff for good evening.

Been a long time since we last visited, but, was as good as always. Food good, dishes on the menu you don't see snywhere else. Liz, front of house, chatty and welcoming. We won't be waiting so long to go back. X

Food is delicious except the chips. Chips are horrendously bad. Would have scored higher but one of the male staff members has a severe attitude problem. After several run ins with him I will no longer be back.

Visité Canela esta noche para una comida para llevar, habíamos visitado este lugar el año pasado para una comida para dos y lo disfrutamos mucho en ese momento, así que esta noche, después de dejar el cine, decidimos darles nuestra costumbre, pedí un cordero bhuna y un pollo, pero me dijeron que no había cordero, así que me conformé con un bhuna de pollo un poco más caliente para ir junto con el normal, también pedí 1 arroz pilau y 1 nan, cuando llegamos a casa en Brechin, estábamos buscando antes de la comida, pero las únicas cosas que fueron agradables fueron el arroz y el nan, ambos curries eran muy suaves y acuosos, con muy poco sabor, y mi "más caliente" no estaba en absoluto más caliente, y sentimos que nosotros, d desperdiciamos nuestro dinero duramente ganadoBasta con decir que nunca volveremos

Fantastic food and great service

Visité el 4 de febrero el cumpleaños pasado, habiendo sido recomendado por amigos. No me decepcionó. La esposa del propietario fue mi anfitrión y nos hizo sentir bienvenidos. La comida fue absolutamente excelente con el costo del vino de la casa muy asequible, como lo fue el costo de la comida de cinco platos.

Tried this place not eaten here for around 4 years had the Tandoori mixed grill was given a time to pick up my meal and it was sitting waiting on me .Took it home still piping hot and really tasty quality would certainly go back and recommend to my friends. Well done cinnamon your as good as you were 4 years ago.

Ordered from Cinnamon this evening. I hate to be negative as I appreciate it can effect businesses. However, my meal was unfortunately terrible tonight. Ordered North Indian garlic chilli - chicken was very bland and dry. Wasn’t marinated at all and the curry itself was also bland and lacked any spicing or depth. Was very hot though which I like. The pakoras (chicken and veg) were also bland. The nan was atrocious, was honestly like eating sliced bread with a paste of some sorts. Was cold also. Ended up binning the majority of it. I had heard good things about cinnamon so perhaps an off night. I won’t be ordering again though.

visited last night including us only 7 diners at tables yet food took 45 mins to arrive but takeaways were fkting out the door...the food is good and the waitress attentive even though run off her feet with takeaway orders and table service..ghe surroundings are dismal u could smell the toilet no ambience( maybe dim lights candles on tables and music to dim out tameaway orders and phone ringing out) i wont b back but food not bad.

Visitó Cinnamon por su oferta de 5 cursos para 8. 50. La comida era deliciosa: chutney grueso hecho en casa con poppadoms, pollo tierno en el plato principal y todo muy bien presentado. El servicio fue excelente. Este es un pequeño restaurante amigable, y esta oferta es inmejorable. Vale la pena volver para probar otros platos del menú a la carta.

Don't let the reviews put u off.. yes it looks a bit dated and yes the owners kids are around.. but I liked that it added to the family feel.. now the food... WOW brilliant .. good try it out... oh and if u do order for delivery .. be prepared to wait .. but it's worth it

We've eaten at Cinnamon many times and I've never been disappointed. Food has always been excellent. My husband is still raving about how lovely his chicken was in the Murgi Masala. Always friendly staff and very helpful when asked about the dishes on the menu

Esperamos casi 45 minutos en nuestra comida se servía y éramos las únicas personas en el restaurante, las entregas de la casa estaban al salir de la puerta mucho más rápido. La comida era muy buena cuando no vengan, pero el servicio se podría haber mejorado. . Mi esposo sentado sin una bebida por edades lo pude entender si el restaurante estaba muy lleno, pero éramos los únicos. La guinda del pastel fue cuando el camarero nos dimos cuenta de que no debería haber sido tomates en mi plato de hijas y ellos recogieron con sus manos justo delante de nosotros. ! ! ! Me horrorizaba pensar en esto y es la razón por la que no vamos a volver, absolutamente chocante. . . .

Llamé para una orden de entrega. Me dijeron que sería de 1 horas, lo cual está bien para una noche de sábado.

Visitamos la última noche. Parece otra habitación, sin ambiente cero ambiente y miembros de la familia y los niños sentados en sus tiendas para conseguir en el camino de la personal.

Went for a carry out Thursday night was recommended by a friend ordered vegetable pakora chicken pakora and chicken tikka. Onion chutney and a garlic nan first the starters were very small tasteless the chicken tikka was bone dry nan bread was a plain nan spread with garlic butter. Utterly disgusting to serve up this so called carry out you should hang your head in shame do not give this place your business looking at the reviews they obviously don't bother what they serve up BEWARE"

Had a take away last night was told could be over an hour for delivery not a problem , meal came the naan was half cooked , the starters were ok but bland and the curries very poor. We have been ordering from here for years and always had excellent meals but unfortunately won't be back as it was quite disgusting don't know if chef has changed but prices haven't so expect value for money which this certainly was not

Been a customer for over 25years when it was the asha on the Hilltown then changed to the mela then they moved premises which we followed as always highly recommend them until Saturday night past ie 18 June 2016 ordered a delivery over phone guy took order wrong which resulted in no rice for my main meal ..I called for the guy to admit he was wrong then blank phone as he didn't offer any replacement rice... I was understadly annoyed we then called back to be told if I wanted rice I'd get it but have to pay for it and delivery in a nasty manner I may add..... my husband then called back to speak to the lady we've know for over 25 years she said all this over a rice how would she feel if she had a main chicken tikka korma and no rice I was willing to pay as I've always pay if theve got it wrong in the past i may add and deluvery in the past has been crap .... her guy got the order wrong not me !!! she was very unhelpful so after 25 years of custom we will definitely never be back !!!!! Greed goes to people's heads most definitely she should customer are there bread and butter !!!!

Sorely disappointed by the restaurants delivery service. A meal for two people was ordered at 5pm on a Friday evening to be delivered for 6pm, sadly the food did not arrive until closer to 7:30pm and when it finally did arrive, the food was barely warm. Would not recommend using Cinnamon for home delivery under any circumstances.

Unfortunately our recent visit to Cinnamon was a disappointing.The dining room was a little bit busier than usual so service was quite slow. We were crammed in and one of our party was repeatedly asked to move so waiting staff could make it to some of the other tables. It's not on, expecting your diners to keep getting up and down during their meal so you can get around the dining room.The food was alright but not exceptional.A shame as I've always praised Cinnnamon in the past.

Staff is very nice and food is delicious, provided you order the right thing. The balti is mouthwateringly good, especially accompanied by a piping hot paratha.

Used this restaurant for awhile now. The last two times have not been the same. Thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt and ordered two different curries last week, we were very disappointed, they both tasted the same and felt something was missing and tasted so bland. Considering one was meant to be hot, it tasted mild. Very dissapointed and feel we wll now have to move on. Maybe been a change of chef.

I go to this restauarant regularly, despite the long time spent waiting on deliveries; for one reason only the food is excellent. Having sampled most of the Indian restaurants in Dundee i can say the food here is the best by far!

Very dissapointed with meal, I asked for the curry sauce that comes with the biryani to be between Madras hot and vindaloo and it was extremly mild, the nan bread was very dissapointing and was not tasty at all, also I had to call them back as they never delivered the extra portion of curry sauce, all in all very disapointing as the Cinnamon USED to be great!!!

Never again. Have eaten in brilliant Indian restaurants and take aways in Dundee and this was by far the worst. Don't believe the 4+ on the recommendations because not been used by enough customers who have taken the time to review it. Would say a tesco naan was better. Rice ok. Daal was watery. Tikka masala tastes of coconut and South Indian garlic chicken was waaaay too hot.

Ordered a Chicken Korma and most importantly a nann bread..got home , no Nann bread, my heart sunk, so much a horrific experience I haven't been back..but they do do a Killer Korma.

Ordered was advised 45-1 hour. Fair enough it is Saturday night. 2.5 hours later 3 phone calls! Finally arrived it was freezing. Idiot here for even paying for it. Would not recommend.

Ate here and had an amazing Indian meal. The food was great, staff friendly. Service good. Prices are really good too, lots of main courses just over £10 including rice. This is only a small restaurant and the takeaway was constant with customers. would definitely go again. Couldn't fault anything

After many visits to this take away, the meals I received tonight were short of appalling. The chips were greasy,limp,soggy and cold.The chicken in my meal was tasteless, and bland, was meant to be a french fried chicken, but tasted like chicken with added red food colouring.The tikka massalam was not the usual look or taste in short disgusting take away. Will not be using again. This was on top of ordering and not recieving the order an hour later.

had a meal from here at the weekend when staying in dundee as i love indian food.was served by a lovely older lady who was the owner, she was very polite and very aproachable.......out came the food and it was delicious! fresh nan and fresh chicken.all in all a great experience thanks guys

Have been using this little gem for many years, it leaves all other Indians standing. We go as a couple and the service is always excellent. Have recently been going with a much rowdier crowd from our local and these nights have been outstanding. Well done to Barrie and Liz and guys for the food and the service.

I have been eating the cusine of this family run retaurant well before the days of Cinnamon. the during the week meal deal is absolutley amazing value! taste a bit of everything.

Order from here all the time. Fantastic food and value for money. The set meals they do for delivery are amazing. So much variation and no two dishes taste the same. Wouldn't order from another Indian restaurant after trying this place.

Looking for an authentic Indian restaurant, we naturally did a search on Tripadvisor and decided this was the one for us on our visit to Dundee. As it was close to our hotel - Strathmore Avenue Travelodge - we could have walked to it, but found taking the bus was an easier option, as the 1B stopped right outside the door. To be honest, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside, the restaurant is fine - small and intimate. The staff are friendly but not invasive, but the whole story is about the food...fantastic. If you are looking for the Real McCoy - traditional eighties style curries, then your luck is in. We felt the price was good, the service was excellent, and the food, which it ultimately is all about, was fantastic. We will definitely be back, and a quick thank you to the staff and management for the lovely, friendly service.

After visiting cinnamon previously and them forgetting our poppidoms and juice we paid for, I decided to order a meal for 2 this weekend and give them the benefit of the doubt. Due to previous experience I asked the woman on the phone 3 times to remind the driver to remember everything. After then waiting 2 and a half hours our food came with once again no juice and this time no chips and also everything in the bag was covered in grease. I called to ask how this was possible after reminding them so many times and they were useless, never wrote a review about a takeaway or complained before but this was shocking. Food was average covered in grease il defo stick to the jahangir.

Our family hobby is eating, and food unites and divides us, its rare to please the entire family.We have one really fussy one, one vegan, one that will eat anything she likes, and another who will eat pretty much anything. So I liked the food, it was fresh and Tasty, i could make out what all the ingredients were, and food was not swimming in oil or a frightening shade of red. Hot means hot!Oh and the chicken looked like breast meat cut into strips, maybe they read one of the other reviews.The fussy one did not like it, although he could not explain why.The other likes what she likes, went for an old faithful, but it was too spicy for her, IT DOES SAY HOT on the menu, but this is her usual dish and it was just a little more spicy from here than elsewhere.The vegan abstained on this occasion so cant tell you what they have available for Vegans!Its worth a go, our food was good value, fresh and hot, if you like a little spice in your life I think the range of chilli curry will keep you happy.

The curry was excellent (top range of all the curries I have had), the staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was nice, and the prices were reasonable. If you wanted to be critical of something, you could say that the interior design was not very stylish. I am looking forward to go again!

Worst Indian ever, and I've had some bad ones. We got a takeaway from here and the chicken was pretty much just lumps of bones and that was the only thing I could identify. The only edible part of this meal was popadoms. Avoid and spend you're hard earned money on something edible.

In the area a few days ago and visited Cinnamon on a recommendation. We were a party of four and each of us agreed it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time (and we eat out a lot trying all cuisines and budgets); to add to this we believe it to probably be the best Indian / Asian meal we have eaten in the UK. Starters of chicken pakoras, popadoms and a variety of chutneys were delicious. All mains (4 different curries) were perfectly spiced, amazing, tender and very tasty. The nans were fab. And the house wine was perfectly acceptable! Best curry house in Dundee by a country mile.

I always make the trip into dundee to this place for takeaway. Everytime I visit it is fantastic. A good, varied takeaway menu. I have never had a "sit in" meal but as far as takeaways go it is excellent.
